Tempest And The Warrior (Unearthly World Book Book 7) Page 9

by C. L. Scholey

“Do you think I can protect him from the Angano?”

She was snuffling, trying to get her emotions under control. She thought she’d drop dead when that slab almost crushed her son in front of her. Her mind was screaming stop, and the large chunk of diamond stopped. There was no other explanation.

Cy’s hands were soothing as he rubbed her back and shoulders. The sweet sound he made to comfort her filled her ears. He was right. Grey made everything seem hopeless unless she sided with him. At times, she wanted to make him shut up. There were times she wished she never saw him again. And times she was drawn to him and their shared memories.

  If only David were here…

Tempest stilled her thoughts wary if she was able to make the dead rise. Her husband was a special memory. She loved him, but he was married to his job. David, always the first on a scene. David, always ready to volunteer. Tempest knew what she was getting into when she fell in love with him. David wanted to save the world. It was part of his appeal. He was also one of the reasons she persevered. David taught her how to live without a man. She learned to take care of Braylon alone. Looking back at those times of deep sadness, she realized David had saved their lives by being so giving toward others. He was a hero, in an unsuspecting new way. David made her strong. For that, she was grateful.

When Cy tilted her face up, she pressed her chin to his chest. His eyes heated to dry her tears. No, she didn’t need Cy. Yes, she wanted him. His blue full lips beckoned. There was concern on his face. His arms were gentle. Tempest lifted her hand to cup the back of his neck pulling him down to meet her. His mouth was warm and soft. His taste was unique. Grey had kissed her. He was always demanding, rough. When David kissed her, he tasted of cigarettes and sometimes the brandy he indulged in on a day off. Neither was unpleasant, simply different.

Tempest wondered what he was thinking as Cy explored her mouth. Was the gift of plums still on her tongue? She enjoyed the flowers’ treats often and was lavish with her praise. The sweetness of Cy filled her, his soft tongue indulging in her warmth. She melted against him. The razor sharp teeth didn’t bother her as her lips tasted him. He pressed harder, kissing the sides of her mouth, licking then returning. He savored her jaw, nibbled her earlobes. Then returned to her mouth when she was breathless, her legs weak.

When their kiss broke, Cy was breathing hard. “So that’s a kiss.” His tone was wonderment.

“What do I taste like?” she asked curiously.

  “Like a delectable treat.”

  “Are you hungry?”

He started to shake his head then grinned when she smiled. “Starving.”

Taking his hand, she led him to his special cave. The furs were rumpled from their last encounter. As Tempest removed her shirt Cy captured her to his chest, her arms were trapped. She could feel the pounding of his heart as he battled for control.

Tempest had a thought. “Let go,” she demanded.

Cy gazed at her confused but released her. Tempest put her shirt back on. She sauntered around the room as though sizing him up. There was no way she could even hope to instigate a battle.

“If you want me, work for it,” she declared in challenge.

Cy’s mouth hung open. “My kind battle naked.”

“Then I guess you’ll have to strip me.”

She could see him shaking. His fists balled as he struggled for control. Tempest wondered if this was such a good idea after all. He was capable of great rage. She wanted so much for him to understand they could have the best of both worlds as long as he wasn’t too rough. There was an underlying reason she admitted to herself and didn’t feel an ounce of guilt. Cy had almost admitted he would hand her over to another on his planet. Well, she would give him something to think about for the rest of his lonely nights.

“Are you going to stand there collecting flies?” she taunted. “Don’t you want my lips to taste your cock?”

“You can do that?” his whisper was strangled, and she felt a bit sorry for him.

“Would you like to taste my lower lips?”

He clenched and unclenched his fists. She could see the wheels of enlightenment turning. The possibilities were endless. Tempest waited for him to pounce. When he moved, she moved. Quick as a bunny, she sidestepped him. He stood stunned. She shrugged.

  “Your meal is getting away.”

  “Doubtful, my delectable.”

Cy stalked her. He stripped as he moved. When free, his cock rose ramrod straight. Tempest sent him a wink. Thick, hard, and ready described every tantalizing inch of him. Tempest’s heat climbed between her thighs. Her breath quickened. They circled one another. Her gaze fastened onto the object of her delight and she cocked her head with a cheeky grin.

“I wonder how much cock I can take in?” she said with an impish smile. “Maybe not all, but I wonder if I can have at least half.”

“We’re both going to find out.”

  I can’t wait.

Cy lunged and she knew their battle, only begun, was finished. Cy yanked her shirt off with one hand. He gripped her shoulders to push down. Tempest’s breath came hard and fast with excitement. She missed playing. He pinned her on her back and guided his cock into her mouth. Deeper he went while she struggled. His cock was wonderful. She sucked and licked while pretending to resist. The growls of contentment rasped from Cy. For a moment, he closed his eyes. His grip slipped.

Tempest wrapped her fingers around his shaft. Cy straddled her face with his hands tearing into the furs beneath. She let her teeth graze him knowing she couldn’t hurt him. Cy quivered and she wanted to smile.

“I never knew a female would do this.” He gasped. “Your mouth is killing me with euphoria.”

She cupped his balls to caress them. His sac was huge, a tempting toy for her pleasure. He rocked against her testing her depth. Tempest was filled with his flavor. Cy leaned back and ripped her pants from her. He turned and spread her legs not releasing her.

“I’ve never tasted a female,” he muttered before diving between her thighs. She panicked for a moment when he nipped her. His tongue laved the hurt and she settled.

“So delicate and delicious,” he whispered when he came up for air.

Tempest wiggled against him. She was trapped as he attacked her bud. She couldn’t cry out with his cock buried in her mouth. She sucked harder and heard him groan. A finger slipped into her pussy, then another as he continued his heady assault. Waves of pleasure rocked her and she whimpered. For a second, he allowed her to release him.

“I taste your welcome,” he said and pulled from her.

Tempest yanked on his arms wanting him to fill the ache as it built again. “Cy.”

“No female has ever said my name while we Holidayed. Never.”

“That’s because we are making love.”

  “I like that term better.”

Cy turned to kiss his way up her body. When he met his desire, he thrust into her giving her what she wanted. His pounding became intense and Tempest cried out. Cy put his hand to her mouth shushing her.

“Remember I don’t want a toy spaceship up my ass.”

She would have laughed if she had the breath.

If that ship shows up I’ll smash it.

Harder, he rocked, taking her again to where she needed to be. Her insides were slick as he pumped. She controlled the need to scream. He entered battle mode and more of him filled her. Thunder claps boomed as his thighs crashed against her. Tempest had never climaxed so many times. Desire engulfed her as he desperately took his fill. With a final thrust, he roared his release and slumped to his side taking her with him. The cave echoed with the sound of their gasps for air. His hands clutched her back and ass closer.

  “Cy?”

  “Hmm?”

“I need new clothes. They’re shredded and I’m kinda naked.”

“You’re completely naked. When we get to my planet, if I have my way, you’ll stay naked and at home all the time.”

  Tempest froze
. “Don’t tease me.”

Cy rolled on top of her. “I won’t tease. I won’t give you up. No matter what anyone says. And I’m going to slaughter anything that tries to take you from me.”

Tempest could see he meant it. Her heart filled with joy. She and Braylon had a home, and they would be loved.

  Chapter 8

Cy left to retrieve clothing for her. Tempest wrapped the fur around her. She wished Cy would come back and they could cuddle all day. She was certain Braylon was safe with Grey. Well, he was safe with the toy ship. His spaceship annoyed the Tonan, secretly Tempest wondered if Grey was afraid of it. The toy ship didn’t leave Braylon’s side for a second. Tempest chuckled thinking of helicopter parents.

I’m a wee bit in overkill mode.

A small noise tilted her head to the left and she froze. Two rounded black eyes were staring at her. The eyes blinked. She had no breath to scream when the being stepped away from the pure glistening wall. Tempest grabbed the furs to her chest. The being was at least six feet. Pure diamond in color from head to toe. No hair, two dots where a nose would sit and a tiny slit opened to reveal a mouth.

The being wore no clothes, she couldn’t tell the sex. It was gangly, thin arms and wrists, its thighs were no larger than her ankles straight up to a pelvis. Its head was rounded, two flaps for ears waved back and forth. Barefoot, with only a big toe, it studied her.

“Are you an Angano?” Tempest said when she could speak.

The being cocked its head. “No.” The tone was wispy.

  “Do you inhabit this planet?”

“Yes. Why do you hide, are you cold?”

  “I’m not wearing anything.”

It looked down at itself. “Ah yes. Garments, I believe they are called. A silly custom.”

“How long have you been standing there?”

“I left when it became apparent the large bull was not harming you.”

“Bull? Oh, Cy. Yes he’s big all right.”

“How long will he stay this time?”

“I’m sorry, but we wait to see if the aliens, the Angano, are tracking me.”

“There is one here now. I wondered why the creatures would bother to return.”

Tempest almost bolted. “In here with us?”

  “On my planet.”

“Oh God, I need to get Braylon.”

  “The child?”

“Yes, he’s my son. Are you a danger to us?”

The being did what she presumed was a chuckle. “We are peaceful. The Angano can’t control us or hurt us. The bull can if he chose to physically, but he appears to side with peace. We have no physical protection; we do not mind battle but are immune. We have other capabilities, but for now they are a moot point. I can tell your kind is no danger to us. You are human. A rare being this side of the galaxy. You should be with your own kind.”

  “Earth died.”

“Did it?” There was something to his question that made Tempest pause for a moment. She was certain Earth died. Grey told her so and his tail didn’t grow. Cy had told her as well. Earth was covered in water. There was only death.

“We have traps set on this mountain.” Tempest thought to warn the being. “As soon as the Angano is stopped we will take them down and leave. I’m sorry to have brought a fight here. I mean you no harm. I’m glad the Angano can’t hurt you. Cy never would.”

  “Tempest?” Cy was calling.

“Your bull seeks you out. You are a cute species. Different. I like the tone of your voice. You make interesting words. The strands on your head shimmer beautifully. What a rare female you are. You wear your sex too openly. Our males would be interested too often and our females would be annoyed. I wish you safe and I wish you well.”

The being slipped backward. She knew it closed its eyes and seemed to vanish into the wall. All it really needed was to turn around. She wondered if it was still there, she detected no movement. Cy came racing in and tossed clothing at her. He appeared harried.

  “Braylon touched the Angano blood.”

“Why?” she cried out as she tossed off the fur and struggled to dress.

“Grey filled his head with the dangers of the alien and the boy wanted to confuse it. Braylon thought he would be protecting you.”

“I’m going to slaughter Grey when I see him.”

“Braylon acted on his own. But I have to admit I’d love to see that.”

Tempest was on her feet and running. “I was told the Angano is here.”

Cy scooped her up as he ran. “Who told you?”

“A little, but tall, native of the planet. They’re creepy yet cute in a way.”

Cy increased his speed until the foliage flashed by. Tempest’s heart raced along keeping pace with Cy’s feet. The vessel was locked when they returned. Grey was pounding on the door. His shield was down. He was pissed and Tempest detected concern. Braylon was yelling back as heatedly. Tempest was set on her feet. She strode over and whacked Grey with a hand.

“Why did you fill him with fear?” she bellowed.

  “It was truth.”

“He’s a little boy,” she raged.

“That little boy has a spaceship that threw me out the door,” Grey was bellowing.

“It’s because I told Cy I wanted to slaughter you.”

Grey looked her over. “I see you decided the Zargonnii was the better alien.”

She was taken off-guard by his tone. He sounded hurt. When she first saw him, she had been with Cy. She then remembered she’d bathed, this time she hadn’t. A slight blush warmed her cheeks.

“The Angano is here,” she said.

The vessel door slid open and Braylon threw himself into his mother’s arms. His little body was shaking.

“I only wanted to help,” he said, his words muffled into her shoulder.

“It’s all right,” she soothed. “My little man cub, you don’t need to protect me. The job of our care is mine.”

Overhead, the sun was setting casting shadows. Grey looked up and swore. Tempest and Braylon also looked to the sky and she was surprised. The sun hadn’t set in all the days they’d been there. She assumed it never did with the brilliant plant life. Now she could see it going down in the distance. An ominous icy finger slid down her back. Did the Angano cause this?

“What is it?” Tempest asked. Her body quivered with trepidation.

“The dark season. That Angano must have timed it. Everything on this planet goes to sleep for two weeks. The sun won’t be back at all during that time. The plant life sleeps. The inhabitants must plan for the darkness; they disappear. I can’t generate my shield without the sun and have to be very careful with my resources. Damn it; I should have paid closer attention.”

“The temperature, does it drop?” Cy asked.

“The diamonds hold the heat. Only the last few days are cooler,” Grey said.

Tempest looked at Braylon’s hands. “Where did you touch the blood?”

“With my fingertips. I wanted to protect you, Mom. Maybe we can confuse it.”

Cy looked at the boy’s fingers. “Did you touch wet blood?”

  “No it was dry.”

Cy gazed at Tempest. “I don’t think it was absorbed.”

Tempest picked Braylon up, she was so angry. She hadn’t lifted the boy to her hip in years. She marched past Grey glaring at him and strode into the ship. Cy followed her.

“I warned you not to fill his head. You could have hurt him,” she said snarling.

“I never meant for him to think to protect you. I didn’t think. You’ll have to let me in soon. In two weeks I’ll be useless,” Grey bellowed.

Tempest shut the door in his face.

  Chapter 9

Two long weeks passed without the sun. The ship remained closed with few excursions and only by Grey. Grey was allowed in after the first week of banishment having been made to promise he would not frighten Braylon. Cy would have sworn the Tonan was contrite, he was the epitome of gracious. Instead, Grey told st
ories to the boy while Cy and Tempest listened.

He explained about Tonans and Castians and why they battled. At one time Grey had been Cobra’s friend, long, long ago. The warrior told them of his planet, what it was like growing up. The loss of his mother and sister. Tonan females weren’t supposed to be killed in the mass extermination, but the scientists either didn’t count on it or didn’t care. The loss for the Tonans was miniscule. Tonans were by nature a selfish lot and few mated.

Grey explained as time went on a certain type of Tonan surpassed the ones geared toward compassion. Empathy was bred out. The scientists had fooled themselves. Without females, neither line could continue. There was no hope until an old warrior remembered Earth. Grey was hardly more than a boy when he first made a visit with his father and a few others. The planet was primitive, easy to manipulate. But there was only one sun, rendering it useless for long periods of time. A warrior was nothing without the protection of his shield.

The idea had been to bring females to Ulsy and cripple the Castians with desire. Cobra was too strong. The Tonans should have known. Grey wasn’t surprised his old friend managed to turn the tables. But Tonans weren’t welcome on Bagron. Then Grey was shot down, stranding all of them, himself, Tempest and Braylon. Neither he nor Cy knew what was in store if they survived an Angano attack.

Cy learned more about Tonans that week than he had during his life. There was still a measure of animosity between the warriors. Cabin fever wasn’t helping. Then there was Tempest who told stories of her childhood, her family, and finally David. Human lives were intriguing. She elaborated on places they took Braylon as a family. The boy laughed as she recalled how he would hide with his hands over his eyes thinking if he couldn’t see them, they couldn’t see him in a game of hide and seek. She mentioned it had been years since they’d gone on a simple picnic. Cy had no clue what a picnic was. Her eyes sparkled as she told of trips to the beach. Cy squirmed then to learn a beach was sand and lots of water. Braylon loved water.
