Lucky was crying herself a river. She was so hurt, her heart wasn’t broken it was shattered. “Bitch I’ma kill you!” Los shouted in anger. “No fuck you Carlos. I’m tired of you playin me like a quick nut, when I’m the one that loves you! She don’t love you like I do!” Shyanne cried sounding deranged. “Carlos how could you? Nigga you ain’t shit,” Lucky cried. She snatched off her bracelet with their names on it and threw it at him, hitting him in the face. She reached up to her neck to do the same with the necklace but it was nothing there.
“What the fuck is going on?!” A female screamed. “Oh my god!” Tamika screamed as soon as she realized it was Lucky. “Who the fuck did this to you? Hell nah! Unh, unh. I’m on the muthafuckin bullshit tonight! Any bitch can get it. What!,What!” She screamed snatching off her jacket. “Lucky who you was fighting wit?” Lucky was so hurt she couldn’t talk. “It was Shy and Tay!” Someone from the crowd volunteered. Mika froze and looked at Los with accusing eyes. She didn’t give a hell she was heated “So you got my lil sister jumped cause you can’t keep ya dick in your pants nigga.” Los glared at her with fury burning in his amber eyes turning them damn near onyx, but she wasn’t backing down she was just as fired up as he was. She rushed over to Lucky and grabbed her by the chin. “Los look at her face! Look at her fuckin face!” Tamika was so mad she started crying. “I swear on everything, when I catch them bitches it’s on! I got the burner on me tonight, these silly bitches gon make me pop the trunk and air shit out!” Jah chuckled under his breath, Mika was his type of girl, she was gangsta with her shit. “C’mon Lucky let’s go! Fuck this hoe nigga. Jah lift her up.” Tamika demanded and he did. Lucky only had one shoe on so Tamika didn’t want her to get cut by any glass on the ground outside.
Los was in a state of shock. Damn in the matter of minutes his world was turned upside down. That bitch Shyanne had aired him out and he couldn’t even look Lucky in the face. Out of all the times he felt strong emotions for Lucky as if he wanted to cry today was the strongest. He had to get out of the club, and quick before his emotions took over. Nice saw Los start to shake a little, he grabbed him and pushed through the crowd.
Los got outside and saw Tamika and Lucky sitting in Tamika’s car. Lucky had her head down so Los wasn’t able to make eye contact with her. He ran over to the car and pulled on the door handle trying to open up the passenger side door to snatch her out. Lucky looked up and got scared Los wasn’t looking like himself. “Lucky get out the car! Lucky get the fuck out the car! Just let me talk to you,” he barked. Lucky looked over at Tamika with fright “I don’t want him, I don’t want his ass no more, Mika pull off!”
Lucky looked straight ahead, she was too scared of what Los might do. He was acting crazy, banging on the window for Lucky to look at him and open the door while pulling on the door handle. Feeling as if her heart had been completely destroyed, ripped right out of her chest and stepped on, she shed silent tears as she sat in the passenger seat, knees pulled up to her chest, hands covering her ears trying to block out Carlos’s tirade. Tamika put the car in gear and floored it almost running over his foot. The scene was embarrassing as hell to say the least, and Nice had to grab his brother before he made an even bigger ass out of himself in public.
“Where we going lil Mama?” Tamika asked gently seeing that Lucky was shaking like a leaf and crying. “I’m not going to that nigga’s house, fuck him! I’m so done with his ass.” “I’ll bring you to my house then cause you are in no shape to drive to CT. Or do you want me to drive you? Lucky you already know it’s whatever.” “No just bring me to Ty’s house.” Lucky said through tears. Lucky’s phone was blowing up and Tamika already knew who it was.
Lucky snatched her phone up “What? What? the fuck do you want Carlos?!” Tamika could hear him trying to cop a plea as if he was begging someone to spare his life. “Now you want to know if I’m alright? Fuck you! I hate you! I’m coming to get all my shit from your house, it’s over! You cheating piece of shit!” Lucky hung up and less than three seconds later her phone rang again.“Leave me the fuck alone, call one of those other bitches you been seeing,” with that statement Lucky started sobbing.
Tamika rolled her eyes Carlos was screaming something, Tamika couldn’t tell what it was but she snatched the phone from Lucky and hung up. “Nah baby girl that’s not the way you do it, that nigga violated to the tenth degree. I’m telling you now I been there done that, don’t pick up that nigga phone call again. That’s how they get you, one minute on the phone gonna lead to five minutes, then 10, then 15, then he would’ve gotten in ya head and convinced you to come home. Forward that nigga phone numbers straight to voicemail. His numbers, his boys numbers, his mama numbers, anyone you can think of that’s associated with him, right to voicemail! Leave his ass wondering. Lucky I know you aint neva been through drama like this before with no nigga, you still young but trust me I know.” “I’m not fucking with him no more, Tamika I swear we done.” Tamika smirked she knew that was a lie. See Los was a lot like her baby father cunning. He would snake his way back into Lucky’s heart with gifts, I’m sorry's, promises, and hella good dick. But at the end of all that Tamika knew that Los loved Lucky to death, he just didn’t realize it yet. No dude of Los’s caliber and status would act a fool as he did in public over a chick if he really didn’t love her.
Los sat in the passenger seat of Nice’s Range. He was trying to get in touch with Lucky but she had forwarded his phone calls to voicemail. He was leaving countless messages with just a glimmer of hope she would return one of his calls. Nice shook his head at Los. He warned Los about Shy, he told him that she wasn’t the type of chick that would sit back and play her position but Los didn’t listen. Los felt defeated and dare he admit scared. Lucky had threatened to come and get all her shit and to his surprise the thought of that scared him shitless. So much had changed since she’d been there. It was as if she had brought life into that once lifeless big house. He had gotten so used to sleeping beside her it wasn’t even funny. Yeah, he did his dirt but he always made it home to her.
“Yo I think she gon change the locks to the condo,” Los said. Nice looked over at him “Yeah you know that’s they game. Chicks love to see a nigga come home and can’t turn the key in the lock,” He laughed. “Not for nothing, Los I know you don’t wanna hear this right now, I know you hurting, but I told you so, next time listen to me. You playing for a whole new league now nigga, you playing with feelings, yours and hers. You got ya heart in it now. It’s different from the old running around playing bitches you used to. Bruh you love that girl.”
Los sat there and listened to Nice. “I don’t know if I love her, I think, I do…I don’t know.” Nice looked at him and started laughing. “You think you do? Word? Nigga come off that shit. You love that girl, trust. Lucky got you doing things you ain’t never done before. Yo son eating pussy! Running up in her when she on the rag, Yo ass basically moved out to CT so she could finish this school year. You paying all her bills. Trips, gifts, and she in good with momz. Need I say more mufucka? You love that girl, don’t lie to ya’self.” Los sat there silently and thought about what Nice had just said. Yeah it was true, he did all that for Lucky and more. “That sound like love to me too,” Jah chimed in from the backseat.
Nice’s phone rung from in the Range. Incoming call, phone number 215-854-2264 accept or decline? The robotic voice asked. “Accept. What up Yo!” Nice yelled. “What up! Ayo is Los girl a’ight?” “Yeah, she good,” Jah said. Jah had carried Lucky out to Tamika’s car and placed her in it, then wiped her face with the bottom of his white tee. He was relieved to see that the blood on her face was mostly from the other girl and it wasn’t hers. She had some scratches on her face and the left side of her face was red and swelling with every passing second, besides that she was good. “What up Jah?” Big Mike said. “Oh shit, you got me on that hands free speaker phone shit!” “Yeah,” Nice laughed. “Yo tell Los I didn’t even know that was his girl. I would’ve been broke that shit
up.” “He right here, he can hear you,” Nice said. “Ayo Los I didn’t know that was you,” Mike said referring to Lucky. “Yeah that’s me,” Los said with almost no life to his voice. “That’s lil Mike Tyson right there son, she was handling her shit. She fucked Big Tay up. They putting that bitch in an ambulance right now! Niggaz out here saying she gonna need staples in her head. Yo they shut this shit down. The boys out here acting tough, telling niggaz to clear the streets or get arrested. Same bullshit different day.” All the men in the car could here police sirens and lots of chaos in the background. “Good lookin though for breaking that up, I’ll send a couple heads from the pack to hit you off with something a’ight,” Los said. “Nah that aint necessary. I just broke that fight up, cause I saw ya girl earlier while she was going to the bathroom. She looked like a good girl. You and I both know how them hating ass hood bitches can be, they’ll start shit just cause they jealous.” “Yeah, that’s the truth,” Los responded. “But yo, like I said good lookin, and I’ma send them niggaz by you, one.” “Yeah one.”
Los closed his eyes and blew out air in frustration. “Ayo Jah she a’ight right?” Los asked again. This was only his twentieth time asking, Jah didn’t get upset with his repeated questions because he knew if it were Keema he would be just as worried. “Yeah son, she good. I mean, I told you her shit was a little bruised and swollen, and she had scratches on both sides of her face.” As soon as Jah said that Los became extremely angry again, he balled both his hands into fists and grunted. “Other than that she good, them scratches will go away, be glad that deranged bitch aint take a blade to her face. Yo, I don’t know what you was thinkin bringing her out to that lions den in the first place. She aint have a chance, some shit was bound to pop off, it was way too many bitches in there that you fuck with or used to fuck wit. Yo as ya cousin, and one of the closest niggaz to you, Los you need to slow the fuck down! I don’t know why you still out here chasing when you got all you need right in front of you. Lucky love ya ass crazy! And she good to you nigga, you wild for that shit dude.” Jah said with disappointment in his voice.
Los had no response. He could of spazed and took his anger out on his cousin for speaking the truth, but he didn’t, he just sat there and took it on the chin because everything Jah said was true. It was a shame that Los had to hear it from his little cousin and he wasn’t the one giving the advice. “Oh come on nigga, don’t be on that self righteous bullshit now cause ya ass is shackled down by Keema about to get married. Before you linked back up with Keema, you was just like this dude,” Nice shot in Los’s defense. “True, but yo it took me to lose Keema to realize what I’m telling Los. I missed years with my girl, I’m never gettin that time back, feel me? Life too short, I’m tryna have Los avoid that shit from happening with him and Lucky.” Nice shook his head, he understood where Jah was coming from completely. Jah had grown up so much in a year but love will do that to you Nice thought.
“I know, she might be over Ty’s house. I think I should go over there,” Los said. “Hell nah!” Both Nice and Jah screamed in unison. “Yo that ain’t a safe place for you to be ma nigga. They probably over there right now having a I hate Los party. You better not go over there. Give it till the morning bruh, trust. Ain’t no way you ready to face a gang of angry black women. Shit I know I ain’t. Is she picking up her phone yet?” Nice asked. Los shook his head with a gloomy look on his face. “She forwarding my shit to voicemail. A’ight just bring me to mom house, I can’t drive all the way back to Scottsdale right now. I got a fuckin headache.” “Yeah no doubt,” Nice said stepping on the gas.
Los always felt that when all in the world wasn’t going right he could always count on his mom. She had a way of making him feel like nothing else really mattered in the world as long as he had her love and support. When they entered the house Cathy was in the living room watching television. She got up and walked to the foyer when she heard the door open. She stood there looking at all three handsome young men and smiled.
“Well I can guess where y’all coming from, running them damn streets.” She looked at Jah and smiled “Oh Keema let you out to play?” Jah laughed and gave her a hug “Auntie Kit Cat, you know Keema don’t run nothing.” Cathy chuckled knowing better, that boy was bat crazy over Keema. Nice gave her a hug right after Jah, “Mom what you doing up this late?” He asked. “Watching some TV. Why you questioning me like I’m your child? Shouldn’t I be asking you why you running the streets this late?” Nice shook his head with a smile. She looked over at Los and could tell immediately that something was wrong. “Carlos what’s wrong?” he didn’t answer, his only response was a rude shrug of the shoulders. “What?” Cathy asked again. “Nothing ma, damn,” he mumbled under his breath walking towards the kitchen. Cathy was just about to rip into him about his apparent attitude, and for turning his back on her while she was talking to him when the phone rang.
“Who the hell is that at this time of night? Somebody betta be dying.” Cathy growled upset with Los. “And boy if it’s one of them scandalous ass women calling for you I’ma curse they ass out! I told you before don’t do your dirt from here. I want nothing to do with it. If it aint Lucky I don’t want em calling.”
Over the past months Lucky and Cathy had become very close. Lucky was like the daughter Cathy never had. Lucky would show up at Cathy’s office and they would go out to lunch, day spas and shopping together. Lucky would even stop by the house to visit Cathy regardless if Carlos was with her or not. The two women would hang out around the house conversate, cook and watch TV together. In that time she got to know Lucky as a person and grown to love her. Cathy thought Lucky was perfect for her son. And Even though She knew Carlos was still up to no good she kept it to herself, because he was still her son no matter what. She told him countless times to stop his cheating ways because he would lose something good. And all things done in the dark will come to light but it seemed he didn’t listen to reason.
Cathy made quick steps to the phone in the living room wondering who could be calling at this time of night? When she picked up she was surprised to hear Lucky on the other end crying her heart out. “Lucky honey calm down,” she listened for a minute. “He what!?” Cathy screamed. Nice and Jah damn near ran to the kitchen falling all over each other to warn Los. “Ayo!” Nice said when he reached the kitchen with a smile on his face “Lucky on the phone with ma, Yo she telling on ya ass,” He broke out laughing. Los eyes got big as saucers momentarily. “Why the fuck she call mom with that bullshit? Damn now I’ma have to hear it from momz.” He sat on one of the stools that was pulled up to the granite island and took a gulp from his glass of orange juice. “I can’t believe she told my mother on me.” They all started laughing at the situation but quickly stopped when Cathy came barging into the kitchen. She went straight for Los smacking him upside the head as he was taking a gulp from his orange juice . Juice spilled all down his Gucci shirt that matched his kicks.
“Boy I can’t believe you! Carlos that girl is hurting, How could you do that to her? I told you before, if you weren’t ready to commit and be in a relationship then leave that girl alone. Why did you string her along and play with her like that?” She waited for her son to answer but he said nothing; he just sat there looking stupid. “Carlos do you have any type of feelings for that girl? Do you even love her?” Carlos shrugged his shoulders “Of course, I got feelings for her, But I wouldn’t take it as far as saying I love her. I mean… I’m feeling that shit right now.” “Boy watch your mouth,” Cathy warned. “I mean, ma I feel real messed up right now. That’s because everything is fresh, like it just happened, give me a coupla days and I’ma be good again. It’s going to be nothing to me, feel me? It is what it is.”
Cathy was shocked at her son’s response and she believed nothing of what he said. Maybe it was the liquor talking that she smelt on him or maybe he felt that he had to put on a front for Nice and Jah. “Well I feel bad for you, with an attitude like that you gon find ya’self by ya’self. I hope
Lucky finds someone to truly love her cause she’s a beautiful young woman that deserves better.” Los felt a strange feeling in his chest with his mother’s last statement. He knew he couldn’t handle Lucky being with anyone else. Hell nah! He couldn’t stomach seeing her with another man.
Cathy turned to leave out of the kitchen when something caught her eyes. “Jah is that blood on the bottom of your shirt?” she asked with alarm. “Yeah it’s from Lucky. I had to wipe her face.” “It’s from Lucky!” Cathy screamed. She turned around and smacked Los upside his head again. “I’m going to check on her right now.” Los looked up with alarm “Ma you can’t go out in the streets at this time of night. It’s dangerous.” “Watch me.” she shot back with attitude. “Mom you might not wanna go over to Lucky’s people’s house right now, they probably gonna be throwing dirt on Los’s name real crazy, It’s not a good idea,” Nice suggested. “Hold on, can’t nobody tell me shit about none of you. I know who y’all are inside and out, so I really don’t care what anyone else thinks. I can handle myself, remember who the hell I was married to the king of Philly himself.” Everyone just fell silent. “Jah come take this ride with me, cause I know your fiancée over there. I could hear her screaming in the background.” Jah shook his head. He could only imagine what Keema was saying.
