“I know.”
Larkin pointed toward the buildings again. “And that one, the little one, is ours.” She looked up at him. “I know you want to remain at the Facility with most of the kraken, but we come here so often… I wanted a den of our own while we’re on land. It’ll give us more time with Sarina, Eros, and Melaina. Jace, too, when Aymee and Arkon visit.”
He settled his gaze on the building. It was smaller than the rest, but it was centrally located, and it would be theirs.
Fourteen kraken had taken up permanent residence in The Watch — including Jax and his younglings — and many more visited often. These were first homes built for their kind, far enough away to allow them the hint of isolation that they found so comfortable while close enough to ensure they remained a part of the community.
As more kraken and humans worked together, as more of them lived together, the Facility would become less necessary. Their people were moving on from the past, learning that shelter and prosperity could be found elsewhere, if necessary. Combining fishing efforts with the humans and learning how to use similar storage techniques had already benefited the kraken greatly, reducing the frequency of hunts. That had given them time to expand their knowledge and skills in other directions.
This was more than he could have hoped for. More than he’d dared dream. Not everyone had embraced the changes, but conflict had been at a minimum.
“Would it not have been easier to walk to the houses?” Dracchus asked.
“Hmm.” Larkin skimmed her fingers down his spine. “But then I wouldn’t have you for myself.”
Her touch sent a thrill through him. He turned to face her, dropping his hands to her hips. He ran a tentacle up the leg of her pants and brushed its tip behind her knee, taking in her scent, her taste. Even after a year, his appetite for her was insatiable — it only grew each time they came together. “And now that you have me?”
She positioned herself between Dracchus and the rail and kissed his chest, peering up at him as she kissed down his abdomen. He grasped the railing again, tighter than before. “I’m sure I can think of something.”
Author’s Note
This is our first time writing an author’s note at the end of the book! So where to begin…
You are all amazing! Yep. That’s where we’ll begin! We want to thank each and every one of you who gave our Kraken Series a chance! We were blown away by the response Treasure of the Abyss received, and we’re so thankful that you continued to follow our kraken males — tentacles and all!
This was never meant to be a series. Treasure of the Abyss started out as an erotica short that I was writing on the side under my alternate penname, but I quickly came to the decision that this needed to be a book written by both of us as Tiffany Roberts. What was supposed to be a single book around 50k words long, turned into a 100k book with two more books to planned in the series! But wait, there’s more!
Want more Randall and Rhea? Their story is coming! It’ll be out of order after reading Heart of the Deep, but it doesn’t affect the timeline. You just get the behind-the-scenes look into their budding romance! Hunter of the Tide will be included in the Pets in Space 3 Anthology releasing on October 9th, so keep your eye out!
We said a three book series, didn’t we? Well…we decided there will be more! How many more, we can’t say just yet, but if you haven’t guessed it already, Kronus will be getting a happily ever after of his own next!
If you’re looking for ways to help us, share our books on social media, tell a friend, and/or leave a review. Word of mouth is the best kind of support you can show an author, and reviews help us tremendously when it comes to visibility on Amazon.
Once again, we thank you, from the bottom of our hearts!
