“Anyways, that man Yager’s son had his own agenda! He just wanted to take what he felt belonged to his father. Javier only sent him your way because Shaw had an agenda to take you out. You created a lot of problems for yourself haven’t you?” he asked then I grilled him.

“That’s none of your damn business! You still ain’t saying much!” I told him.

“There isn’t shit to say! I slept with your mother while she was with my half-brother! I got her pregnant and you are my son! Javier wants be head of the Cuban cartel that has been in the family for years! All he has to do is kill you and me off to inherit it! There isn’t shit else to discuss!” he said. The dread head came into the restaurant.

“This nigga again?” I asked. I wasn’t feeling this nigga, Corey!

“Fuck you, nigga! I came to use your bathroom! Now, where is that shit at?” Corey asked.

I stood up. “You don’t know who you are fucking with!” I said clenching my fist.

“Leo! I fucks with you the long way because you make my mama happy! But get your son before I turn his ass into some Jambalaya! If he keeps yapping off, I’m going to slice him!” Corey said.

“Wait a minute! Y’all take that shit out of here!” Geraldine said coming out of the kitchen with a chef knife.

“LAWDDDDDDDDD JESUS!” she said licking her lips at Corey.

“Boooyyyyyyyyy, you are a fine sexy chocolate motherfucker! You are bow-legged, too! Jesus help me! Where and the hell y’all niggas come from?” she asked, touching his dreads.

“Take your ass back there and stop being hot! Fuck is wrong with you? Grown men are out here talking!” I told her, smirking.

“Don’t smirk at me, motherfucker! You know when you do that I get pregnant!” she said switching back into the kitchen.

“If I wasn’t married, I would tap that! I don’t mind a little gray in the pubic hair! I like my women seasoned!” Corey said.

“Nigga, go use the bathroom! Fuck out of here!” I told him, waving him off. At least he wasn’t a bitch nigga! I could tell a real nigga when I see one.

He grilled me. “When one of your costumers slips on the floor and sue you, don’t come looking for me, nigga!” he said bopping off.

“What the fuck does that mean?” I asked Leodonis.

“He is going to piss on your floor!” he said chuckling.

  Latavia

I ran to the bathroom throwing up. I missed my period. After all of the sexing Kenjay and I have been doing I knew that I was pregnant again. After we lost Jace I wanted to have another baby and now I wasn’t too sure because of the problems Kenjay was having. He had been chilling out and hadn’t been in the streets like that. I don’t know too much about his real father but I’m thankful he had something to do with it.

Britain rubbed her stomach. “Looks, like you are joining the pregnant camp!” she said taking a seat on my couch.

“Hush it up, girl!” I told her then I started crying.

“Are you taking your pills?” she asked me.

“Yes! I’m just scared! It’s only been four months since I lost Jace!” I told her.

“Well, this is what you wanted! Be careful what you ask for! I know that I’m ready to have this little boy ASAP! I been having cramps in my lower back! O’Shea isn’t any help! He always wants to have sex and he is too damn big for all of that right now!” she complained. She didn’t have to tell me because I saw his sex tape and he is hung like a horse! Even Kenjay is hung like a horse. I think the saying “Birds of a feather, flocks together” is true.

“He just kicked! Come feel it!” she told me. I sat next to her then placed my hand on her stomach. I felt small movements then smiled.

“That is so beautiful!” I told her.

“I think O’Shea is cheating on me!” she said sadly.

“HELL NO! He loves you too much! I cannot picture that boy doing that!” I told her.

“I can feel it! A woman knows! I might not have proof but I can feel it! He is a rapper! A sexy one at that! I’m at home pregnant, and he is out doing these shows. He used to come straight home after his shows. Now, he comes home a few days later, after they are over! I think we moved too fast, so I called off the wedding!” she said then I hugged her.

“Maybe it’s stress! You guys have Shia but y’all didn’t experience it together. Then he lost two mothers in the same year! Maybe he doesn’t know how to cope with the new baby coming, plus the wedding planning,” I said.

“I appreciate what you are trying to tell me but I know my man! I have known O’Shea since I was thirteen! We might have spent years apart but he is still the same O’Shea. I know when he is up to something! The nigga is cheating!” she said.

“It’s just the pregnancy, Britain! Trust me!” I said her.

  “I hope so!” she said.

The next day, I went over my parents’ house. My mother had been very distant and had been losing weight. My brother’s death had taken a toll on her. I wanted to know if she would feel the same way if I was dead.

I used my key then walked in. It was quiet. My daddy was sitting in his recliner drinking a beer. I kissed his chubby cheeks. “Hey, Daddy!” I said, hugging him.

“Hey, baby girl! How are you holding up? I haven’t seen you in a while! I missed my little girl!” he said making me giggle.

“I’ve been fine!” I said, sitting down on the couch.

“I really like that new fishing boat Kenjay bought me! My son-in-law treats his old man well!” he said boasting about Kenjay’s surprise. Kenjay always looked out for my daddy.

My mother came down the steps in her house robe. Her hair was sticking up on her head and she wasn’t her normal self.

“Hey, Mama!” I said to her. She guzzled her cheap vodka then burped.

“Don’t ‘hey mama’ me, you little whore! I know your mutt, bastard boyfriend had something to do with my Tuchie getting killed! My nephew Kyzie is gone and so is Dayquan! I loved them three boys!” she said breaking my heart.

“Cut that shit out, woman! Don’t you talk to my daughter like that!” my daddy said to her.

“The way you stick up for her, I wouldn’t be surprised if you were screwing her! I see the way she looks at you!” my mother said.

“You are miserable, Mama! The way you acted towards Tuchie, I wouldn’t be surprised if you was sleeping with him! You catered to him more than you cater to your own man!” I told her.

  WHAP!

  She slapped my face.

“Don’t you ever talk like that to me again, you little bitch! You think you are all of that because you hang out with celebrities and your man sells drugs? Bitch, you ain’t shit but a high-class hoodrat!” she said to me with tears in her eyes.

My father stood up. “I said, cut that shit out!”

“Are you taking your pills, Mama?” I asked her. I had inherited my bipolar disorder from her and a part of me thinks that’s why she never cared for me as much as she did for Tuchie.

“None of your business! Get the hell out of my house!” she said to me.

“Talk to me, Mama! Why are you talking like this to me?” I asked her with tears falling down my face.

She charged into me, her heavy body knocking me off of the couch. She attacked me as my father tried to pull her off of me. I wouldn’t be able to live with myself if I hit my mother back knowing she isn’t stable.

“Get the hell off her! Bitch, you have lost your mind! Don’t you be putting your hands on my daughter!” my father pushed her onto the floor. He helped me up. My lip was bleeding.

“Are you okay, baby girl?” he asked, inspecting my face. All of a sudden, my mother charged into me with a knife. I didn’t realize she had gotten up to go to the kitchen.

My father blocked me and she stabbed him right in the chest.

“NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!” I screamed, charging into her. I lost it then started fighting her.

“You simple bitch!” I screamed as my hand crashed into her face. She stabbed me in
the arm then I screamed out. Police barged into the house then pulled me off of her. The neighbors must have called the cops because of the noise. The row house walls were very thin.

They handcuffed her then dragged her out as she kicked and screamed. One of the officers got on their walkie-talkie requesting an ambulance. I crawled to my father and his big stomach rose as he breathed. I cried because I could not lose my daddy.

“Are you okay, Daddy? Hang in there!” I told him then he squeezed my hand.

“I’m fine, baby girl! Your daddy is built strong! She didn’t hurt you, did she?” he asked me.

“Just my arm, but I’m fine!” I said, squeezing his hand back.

“I’m leaving your mama! I cannot deal with this shit anymore!” he said. The paramedics came and one of them was Lo-Lo.

“Oh hell no! That crazy bitch stabbed my uncle?” Lo-Lo asked. Lo-Lo was my daddy’s niece by blood.

“Are you okay?” Lo-Lo asked me.

“Yes, I’m fine! I can’t lose my daddy!” I cried as the two other paramedics loaded him up on the stretcher.

A few hours later, I waited to get word on my father. My stab wound was very small. I heard Kenjay’s voice as a nurse escorted him to my room.

“What happened, shorty?” he asked, examining me. I swatted him away.

“I’m fine, baby,” I told him.

“Shorty, you sneaky as hell! I didn’t even know you left out this morning! I keep telling your retarded ass not to leave the house by yourself! You wrong as fuck for that! I woke up and almost lost my mind. You drove all the way to Baltimore by yourself after I told you to stay away from there until shit calms down! Where is your crazy-ass mama, so I can strangle her?” he asked seriously.

“She couldn’t help it! She has bipolar disorder! She gets very angry at times!” I told him.

“How many of y’all are crazy? What the hell is going on? This shit doesn’t make any sense! I’m losing my mind! I have been around nothing but crazy motherfuckers lately! Why didn’t nobody want to take their fucking pills? This shit doesn’t make any sense!” he said like his family was perfect.

“Your family is a little off, too!” I said.

“My family just doesn’t give a fuck about what they do or what they say! That’s not crazy!” he said then smirked.

“See, now you just made me horny! I keep telling you stop smirking at me! That’s why I’m pregnant now!” I said letting it slip out.

He was ready to say something until the nurse came into the room. She handed me my discharge papers then I went to the waiting room. Kenjay followed behind me. “When were you going to tell me, shorty?” he asked.

“I don’t know, it’s too much stuff going on! I wanted a baby after Jace and now I don’t know if I want it!” I said. If looks could kill, I would be dead.

“What the fuck does that mean?” he asked.

“I don’t fucking want it,” I told him. The doctor came out and told me that my father would be okay and that they had to keep him because the wound to his chest was close to his heart and he needed to be under observation. We went back to see him but he was sleeping.

“I’m going to come back tomorrow,” I told him then kissed his cheek.

“Okay, baby girl! I think I heard my son-in-law. Where is he?” he groggily asked.

“I’m right here, big man!” Kenjay said. My father held his hand out for a pound.

“I’m leaving your mother! I cannot live like this!” my father said.

“I know, Daddy! I know! She will be okay!” I said kissing his cheek.

Our drive home was a silent one. Kenjay was going to get one of the twins to get my car from Baltimore. When we walked into our condo, Kenjay went straight to the bar then downed him a shot of Henny. That’s when I knew something was bothering him.

“What’s the matter with you?” I asked him.

“I don’t know if I can do this anymore, Latavia! Matter of fact, I know that I can’t!” he said to me sitting on the couch.

“What?” I asked with tears in my eyes.

“I told you after we lost Jace that you getting pregnant again wasn’t a good idea. You begged me to knock you up, and like a dumb nigga, I did that! I was trying to do whatever it was that you wanted because I figured it would help you. You kept crying that you wanted another baby! Now, you are knocked up and you don’t want it! I’m sick of this relationship!” he said standing up.

“I’m just not ready! I thought I was, but I’m not!” I told him.

“You sound dumb as fuck right now! That’s how I felt when you begged me. I wasn’t ready, neither! But I should’ve known your crazy, confused, mixed-emotions dumb ass would pull some shit like this! You don’t know what the hell you want! For months I been dealing with some shit, too! I been dealing with more shit than you can imagine! Now, you are telling me you want an abortion?” he asked.

“It’s my body! Are you going to leave me over that?” I asked him.

“That’s my seed, too! Yo, real-nigga shit, I’m done! I love the fuck out of you but this shit here isn’t cut out for a nigga like me!” he said grabbing his keys then left out of the house.

  A week later…

My father was finally home and was doing well. Lo-Lo’s mother had been over the house taking care of him. My mother was in a mental hospital and we didn’t know for how long. As for Kenjay, he really left me. He still came over to check up on me but he doesn’t touch me, look at me, or say much. I had an abortion appointment yesterday. I know it was selfish of me to make an appointment, but after all of the current events, I wasn’t ready for a baby.

My doorbell rang as I sat on the couch flicking through channels. I changed the channel to zero to see who was at the door. Kenjay had cameras set up everywhere! It was Lo-Lo standing outside of the door. I got up to get it.

“What do you want?” I asked her.

“I brought you some soul food from Kenjay’s restaurant. Since Britain’s mama been there, I swear I’m addicted!” she said, walking in.

“I’m not hungry!” I told her.

“I don’t give a damn! You better eat this shit, so we can drink and cry! They found Ron this morning with a bullet wound to his head! His body was in his car in the front of his house! Who would kill a man in front of his own house? I was just starting to get serious with him!” she said wiping her eyes.

“Ummmm, you know that has Sameer’s crazy ass written all over it!” I told her.

“Sameer would never do such a thing!” she said, defending him. I wonder why Sheri and Lo-Lo think Sameer is such an angel.

“I’m sorry, Lo-Lo. Ron was a good man but wasn’t he married?” I asked her.

“No, he was separated!” she said in denial. Ron was living with his wife and he kept telling Lo-Lo they were separated but they still slept together. A bunch of bullshit is what it was.

“Kenjay left me, Lo-Lo! He came here to see if I was okay, but after that appointment, I know he won’t come back!” I told her.

“You are one simple-ass heifer! I ought to beat your ass! You begged him for another baby, just to turn around and kill it! I swear you bipolar bitches make me sick! You had a good-ass man! He wasn’t perfect, though, because that is one looney motherfucker! But how do you think he feels? Latavia, I’m going to be honest with you. You have been selfish these past few months and have not once taken his feelings into consideration! He lost his mama, his son, his daddy isn’t his daddy then you do this? Girl, if I was him, I would beat your ass! Let’s not forget that your husband tried killing y’all along with your brother and cousin! And you had the nerve to get an abortion! That’s probably what he needed to calm his nerves and you ruined it! Give me that bag back, bitch! You don’t deserve none of this good food!” she said, snatching the bag from me.

The doorbell rang. I looked at the screen and it was Geraldine.

“Hide, bitch! Run!” I told Lo-Lo.

“Bitch, I’m not moving! I’m going to sit here and eat this go
od ol’ fried chicken and my collard greens! Only running I’m going to be doing is to the toilet after I eat these greens, bitch!” she said licking her fingers.

“Open up, you little crazy heifer! I know your mental ass is in there! Your car is in the parking lot!” she said from the other side of the door.

I got up to open the door. She barged in, slamming me against the wall.
