I rested my head down on his chest. His heart was beating fast and I took in the sweet smell of his sweat. His fingers ran up and down my spine. God, I loved this man. I kissed him on the cheek and his eyes looked down at me. He looked tired. He kissed the top of my head. There. Naked. Together we drifted off to sleep.
I woke up the next morning the sun was pouring in. I turned over to find Blake. He'd already gone. Sat on his pillow was a pink piece of paper. I grabbed it and unfold.
Morning beautiful,
I couldn't wake you. You looked too comfy. I love you loads. Have a good weekend with your mother.
I'll miss you
Xxxxx
PS- I LOVE YOU
I pulled the note close to my chest and signed. "I love you too". A whole weekend without my Blake. What was I going to
CHAPTER 4
I sat outside her apartment building and took it in. It was impressive. A studio flat next to the river Thames in the middle of Oxford City Centre. I doubt very much he owned it. Smug bastard. I was sure at some point Georgina was going to decline my offer. Last night before she left she came into my office demanding I was outside her apartment at 10 am and handed me her address. She seemed very happy yesterday. I even witnessed her singing to herself while typing away. Something had certainly put a spring in her step. Was it because Rich boy was out of the picture for the weekend? Or because I was taking her to see her mother? Whatever it was, I couldn't wait to spend time with happy Georgina.
My thoughts were stopped in their tracks and I was mesmerized. Georgina was walking out the building wearing a short cotton summer dress. It hugged her perfect body in all the right places. I took a deep breath, got a grip of myself and got out the car. She gave a normal cheerful grin as she caught sight of me.
"Nice car" she said. Then I noticed the large suitcase she was pulling behind. Shit! Did she need all that for ONE weekend?? "A Mini Cooper" she raised an eyebrow.
I was very fond of my car. I wasn't into all the flashy fucker stuff. I was a humble man at heart. Money didn't ever bring me happiness. I enjoyed the business side. I stood back to admire it. "What were you expecting??? Mercedes or Royal Royce?" She shrugged. "I'm not that rich you know!" I grabbed her suitcase. "What have you got in here?"
"My going away stuff but mainly shoes!"
"How many pairs of shoes!" I opened the boot and threw the case in. It almost broke my back.
She placed her hands over her face in embarrassment. "SIX!!!" she screeched.
"Six! Why the fuck do you need six pairs of shoes to spend one weekend with your mother?" And hopefully me too!
"Well," she placed her hands on her hips. The early spring sun caught her dress and it was almost see through. I darted my eyes away quickly. I didn't want anything to happen here. I wanted to wait till London and this time I would be in charge of everything. "One pair of trainers, one pair of indoor shoes" As she was telling me she was holding up her fingers. I rolled my eyes. I run my own business, I'm pretty sure I could count!! "One pair of casual indoor shoes, one pair of smart going out shoes, one pair of fancy shoes and some sandals." She stopped and looked at me. "How many pairs of shoes have you got?"
"Work shoes and weekend shoes." She gave a little girlish giggle I had never heard before. In fact we didn't know anything about each other. Well, by the end of the weekend I was going to know everything about her. I was going to make it my mission. "Right lets go." I walked round, opened the door for her and she slid in.
I got in the car and put my seat belt on. "Music?" She looked over and nodded. She started fidgeting in her seat. I had seen this before. She was nervous. "You okay?"
She swallowed and took a second. "No, not really." She stopped looking away. "I just feel a little . . . I don't know . . . Nervous? Embarrassed maybe even!"
I sunk in my seat and looked down at the keys in my hands. "Why do you feel like that?"
"This is the first time we have been alone since . . . You know??" she raised her eyebrows and blushed a little.
She was thinking about it?
I was thinking about it.
I had thought about it almost every day for a week.
Think of something quick Maxwell.
I was close to getting what I wanted. There was no way I was going to let her walk away now.
"Look, I thought we had got over this. I explained that's not what I want. You can like someone without it being in a sexual way." I inhaled sharply. I was beginning to get frustrated.
"We both made a big mistake. Surely we have got over it now?" She didn't budge. "We have worked together since Wednesday? Have I given you any notion that my intentions are not honest?"
Slowly she raised her head, her eyes had softened and were bluer than ever. She parted her moist lips and bit her bottom lip as if she was deep in thought. I wish I knew what she thinking? All of a sudden it felt like there was no air to breath. These few moments felt like hours. If only I could stay in this car forever with Georgina Dawson. I would burn in hell to allow my wish to come true.
"You better drive then!!" Her eyes focused to the window screen and I took that as my cue to get her far away from Oxford as I could.
Maybe in London I would meet the real Georgina Dawson?
I put the key in the ignition and started up the car. The radio sang out "The Fun- Tonight (We are young)" and we were off.
For half an hour there was pure silence between us. Maybe we both felt awkward. Maybe she was regretting not taking the coach to see her mother. I had enough with having a conversation with my mind. I switched off the radio hastily.
"What's your mother like?"
She gave a little snort and shook her head. "My mother is in a world of her own. Why do you want to know?"
"Just curious. We have at least over an hour to talk and get to know each other." She gave a little grin. "So, your Dads car sale business's are in London?" I glanced over quickly.
"No!" She frowned. my eyes went back onto the road. "My Dad lives in Spain with my stepmother. My mother walked out on us........" Her voice trailed off and I was now wishing I had never asked. She regained her dignity and carried on. "She said she wasn't here to be a mother or wife. She moved to London and married someone else."
"Oh," I suddenly felt lost. I had come from a happy home and I wasn't very good with dealing with emotions. I wanted to pull the car over and give her a big hug. I guess she didn't want my sympathy.
"What about your family?" she chirped, she wanted to change the subject and I didn't mind.
"Not much to say. I'm the oldest of four. Mum works in an office and Dad is Painter. Normal boring stuff!!"
"You're lucky. I would of loved to come from a boring family. Do you all live close?"
"Yeah" I beamed. "See one another on special occasions and stuff."
"My family is scattered all over the place. Mum in London, Dad in Spain and I have no idea where Dee is at the moment." She sat back in her seat. "She's my oldest sister and just like my mum" she laughed. "I must take after my Dad. Although, nothing I do is right in his eyes." She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply.
I felt her pain and switched the radio back on. For the rest of the journey not one fucking word was said.
"We're here" she murmured. We had pulled up to some shabby looking flats. It was depressing. The paint had lost all its colour and was chipping off. The grass outside was all overgrown and full of weeds. A few flats were boarded up and others had cracked windows. Georgina took off her seat belt.
"Do you want to come in and get a drink or something?" she asked.
"Do you want me to come in?" I said quirky. Was she just trying to be polite? Did she want her mother to meet me? Then it hit me, I was her boss. Therefore, me meeting her mother wasn't exactly the most important event of her life.
She reached out and grabbed my knee. I froze, her touch was captivating. "Just come and get a drink!" she said, her voice changed in that husky sexy tone.
Fuck me!!
&nb
sp; Her hand began to move up then down my thigh and then stopped. "You might like the old hippy!!" She opened the door and got out. I had to wait a few moments, I was too aroused to move. Georgina popped her head back in the car. "You coming?"
I raised my hand. "One minute."
She looked down at what I was trying to avoid her seeing. Yep, I was rock hard. Her cheeks flushed and she brought her hand to her mouth.
"What are you like?" she giggled. "Meet you at the door. One minute!" Then her goddess face was gone.
I regained my normality back headed over to meet Georgina. She still looked a little sheepish. She pressed the buzzer.
"Hello" screeched a high pitch voice. In the background there sounded like a pack on dogs whining in the background
"Mum, it's George."
"Oh, come on up." There was a big clunk and a loud beeping noise.
I opened the door. "Ladies first" I winked and Georgina stepped inside. I followed in, she walked up the flight of stairs. I should of gone in first, I could see right through her dress. Her perfect arse was distracting, especially when she was only wearing a thong. Maxwell, pull yourself together. We stopped in front of a bright green door, Georgina knocked and a woman opened it. She had long blonde hair and big blue eyes just like her daughter. She was covered in paint. I couldn't take my eyes off her clothes, all tie dyed and really bright. Shame I had left my sunglasses in the car. They really gave off a deadly glow!
"George" she screamed. "I would hug you but . . . ." She held up her hands. They were red. "Come in,come in" she gushed. "Excuse the mess, I am being creative today." She turned and looked at me. "Don't you just love waking up in the morning and deciding TODAY is the day I will make a masterpiece!!"
I shrugged. "I guess."
"So," she looked over at Georgina and gave a smug grin. "This must be Blake?"
"Oh no, Mum" She looked at me. I could see the discomfort spreading across her face. "This is Maxwell Thomas." she stuttered ."He's my boss."
"Anyone who gives my daughter a chance is a friend of mine. I'm Tilly. I would shake your hand but...."
"I know you're being creative!! I added quickly. Tilly gave a little smile and I returned it with the special knicker combustion smile. She bit her lip and whisked back inside with us following. Georgina looked over her shoulder and raised an eyebrow.
"Busted!" I mouthed.
In a blink of an eye it occurred to me. Her mother thought I was Blake? Why, do I look like a Mummy's boy with gay floppy hair?
Wait!! Tilly had never met Blake!!
Why?
I was intrigued. Hopefully I would get her alone later and fill in my curiosity. Tilly lead us into a little room covered in white canvas. These were her masterpieces?? It looked like she had let a toddler go mad finger painting.
She walked over to one and picked it up. "This is my favourite. I call it Only Women Bleed" She turned it round for us to admire. It was just a big red smug.
I nodded in pretend interest. "That certainly is a masterpiece!!"
"Ooh I do like you!" she was flirting with me and I wanted to bang her daughter. This was turning into another fucked up situation! "Let me go wash my hands and I will be back."
I began to take in the room it was filled with bongs, pipes and pictures of cannabis leaves. "Your Mum enjoys the Wacky Backy??"
Georgina shook her head. "Keith!"
"Keith?"
"Her husband. Inside at the moment for selling and supplying." I frowned. "I know huh? Thought she couldn't be a wife!"
Tilly walked back into the room holding a tray. "Green tea!" I shook my head. I couldn't stand the stuff. It tasted like watered down piss.
How do you know? Shut it subconscious.
"Please sit." She was pointing to a shabby 1970's style sofa. Georgina sat down and tapped the vacant seat next to her. How could I not oblige??
"What's your plans this weekend, George?" She placed herself directly in the middle of us and wiggled more in my direction.
Oh the shame!
"I'm staying with you mother."
"Here?" Tilly sounded shocked.
"Yes!"
"You can't." Georgina stood up and she was pissed off. She had her hands on her hips and staring directly at her mother. If looks could kill poor Tilly was a goner. "I have plans" she added.
"YEAH ME!!! You knew I was coming. What are these plans?"
Tilly put some of her hair behind her ears. "I have a date" she muttered.
Georgina narrowed her eyes. "You're married."
"You sound just like your father. Giving me labels. I am a free spirit" She took a sip of her tea and looked at me. "Keith, understands you see. He knows how I find my relief" she winked and looked back at Georgina.
Was that an invitation?? I will pass thank you!
"Well, I can stay here while you go on your date!"
"You can't. I don't want you here" she sounded cold.
I watched as Georgina's world fell apart. Her mouth was wide open and she was speechless. Her eyes moved side to side and she was blinking a lot. I think that was to resist the tears from falling. Slowly she began to shake her head. Tilly just sat there as if nothing had happened. How could anyone treat their flesh and blood like that? However, this was a woman who did walk out on her children.
"Once again you put men before me" she snapped. "Why did I bother? Come on Maxwell let's get out of this shit hole." Just before she left she looked over at Tilly. "It's only now I have actually realized . . . You did me a huge favour leaving. Oh, your masterpiece- what a load of bollocks!!" I had to bite my lip to suppress the hysterical laughter.
I followed Georgina out of the building. As soon as she hit daylight she clasped into a little huddle on the floor. She finally let those tears out. I swooped down next to her and placed my arm around her shoulders pulling her in close.
"Hey, please don't" I whispered running my fingers through her hair. It felt soft. I inhaled and it smelt sweet.
She looked up, I wiped a falling tear and she smiled. "This was a waste of time. Sorry."
"No worries" I stood up holding my hand out. She placed her hand in mine and I helped her up. "We can still have a good weekend. I have a place here. We could go shopping, have something to eat or maybe go clubbing. At least that way you are able to show off some of your shoes!"
She tilted her head to the side. "Will there be alcohol?"
"As much as you want" I beamed.
"Good. Count me in!"
Oh yeah this was going to be good!!
My apartment wasn't flashy but it had style. I had brought it a few months ago; Apparently it was an up and coming area. It wasn't too far away from the centre of London. I actually saw it as just an investment. It wasn't home. I just liked getting away at weekends. Plus it came in handy when I had meetings in London. Georgina was stunned. She was floating around looking at everything. She was impressed.
"This is amazing" her hand ran down the side of the cream corner sofa. "I thought you weren't rich?"
I chuckled. "I said I'm not THAT rich. I have the money, yes. Not everything is about money, Georgina. I thought you would of known that."
"I have no interest in money thank you" she bellowed and plunked herself down on the sofa.
"Then you and me... Miss Dawson....Are one of a kind." She tightened her mouth to hide her smile.
"You want to do anything special?"
"No, let's just watch DVDs, eat junk and get pissed."
I nodded in delight. "A woman of my own heart!" I made my way into the kitchen, reappearing with a bottle of lemonade, a bottle of vodka and two glasses. "Let's celebrate your first week at work!
"I would love to . . . ." Her voice trailed off.
Something had caught her attention, she got up and walked over to the large oak sideboard. She reached out and picked up a photo frame. She studied the picture and looked up puzzled. "The little girl is she yours?"
"Yes" I began. "That's Olivia, she's six now." I close
d my eyes and visions of my little girl appeared. My heart broke. Her cute smile, her thick brown hair, brown eyes and they way she would run to hug me. God, I missed her. I should of never let Debbie take her away. That was the biggest mistake of my life.
I opened my eyes slowly and Georgina was back next to me. She wrapped her arms around me, we hugged and it felt right. It felt good. I felt her soft lips brush against my cheek. I hugged her tighter. Her forehead rested on mine and our eyes locked.
"Where is your daughter now?" she breathed.
I looked away. I wasn't good with emotions. I had spent too long playing hard business man. "Her mum Debbie met someone and they moved to LA. Some American TV producer or something. I see her every now and again" I stopped. I was revealing too much. This weekend isn't about you, Maxwell. This weekend is to get to know this incredible woman. I backed off and winked at her. "Shall we get this party started?"
"Yes please" she winked back.
I poured two drinks and handed her one. Straight away she downed it. I was stunned. This girl could drink no doubt she downed it because of the run in she just had with the hippy. I couldn't imagine my mother ever being that cold towards me. I couldn't be that cold towards Olivia. We created this life. Why ignore them when they need us? My attention went back on to Georgina, she was still holding the empty glass.
I raised an eyebrow. "Another?"
"Yes please. So, Mr Thomas how old are you exactly?"
"How old are you?" I mocked handing over another filled glass.
