“Hey!” Enosh replies.
HE CAN’T MAKE A SPELL STRONG ENOUGH TO KILL IT. YOU KNOW THAT.
“Ugh,” Sapphire grumbles. “You’re right. He’s useless.”
PRETTY, BUT USELESS.
Enosh snorts. “Thanks, I guess?”
Sapphire rolls her eyes. “How about he come with me for support?”
“I can do plenty of supporting from the ground,” Enosh offers.
“You’re such a coward,” Sapphire grumbles.
“I know. That’s the draw of the whole series.”
“Which should really be renamed Watch the Many Ways Enosh Tar’elian Can Fuck Up.”
“I’d agree with you, my dear Sapphire, except of course I’m not writing the books. She is.”
LESS YAPPING, MORE WORLD-SAVING SACRIFICES. GET UP ON GIGGLES, SAPPHIRE, BEFORE I MAKE BANNAL DO IT AND HAVE THE TOWER FALL ON YOU INSTEAD.
She sighs. “Can I at least get a prequel?”
I’LL THINK ABOUT IT.
Act Three, Chapter Five, At the Tar’elian Homestead in the Orasmus
“We cannot hope to defeat Yn Garr if our personal issues keep getting in the way.”
“With all due respect, Sume,” Kefier pointed out. “Personal issues are all we have.”
“As much as I hate to agree with him,” Enosh said, appearing out of nowhere, “he’s right. I mean, you have to admit, this is a pretty messed-up set up we have here. He’s my brother, we have a daughter, and then you…”
“We could write a story about our life,” Kefier added. “Make a play out of it.”
“A tragic romance comedy,” Enosh said. “It’ll win awards.”
“All right,” Sume said. “But we get to pick the actors.”
“Of course,” Kefier replied.
Enosh wagged a finger at them. “And we have to make sure the theatre company gives us our fair share of royalties. Do you know The Forgotten Prince? It was sold out last week, yet last I heard, the playwright was living in a dump.”
“Yes,” Sume said. “We have to hire a scribe to go over our contract.”
Kefier nodded thoughtfully. “And then with the money we make…”
“We could rule the world!” Enosh laughed.
They high-fived.
