“JFK Tower, Saudia Heavy, I do not believe we can make it to Newfoundland. Please turn on landing lights and tell us which runway to use.”
A new voice came over the radio saying, “JFK Tower, this is Mongoose 6 flying Combat Air Patrol, end transmissions to Saudia Heavy Flight 666. We will take it from here, out.
Saudia Heavy, Mongoose 6 a flight of five F-18 Super Hornets. You will not be allowed to enter U.S. Air Space by order of the President of the United States of America. If your flight crosses the twelve-mile limit, we will be forced to shoot you down. Turn northwest to Newfoundland immediately, over.”
An AWACS entered the conversation saying, “Mongoose 6 this is Mother. We have just received word that should Saudia Heavy enter U.S. Air Space you are cleared to shoot it down. Confirm receipt of this message via voice and electronic transmission, over.”
“Mother this is Mongoose 6, confirm receipt of both voice and transmission, over.”
“Saudia Heavy, this is Mother, I warn you to turn northwest and away from U.S. Air Space immediately. You are currently 100 nautical miles from our 12-mile limit. Acknowledge.”
“Mother this is Saudia 666; we do not have sufficient fuel to make it to a new destination. Greenland is also closed to civilian traffic making it impossible to refuel there. I’m sorry, but we are heading to La Guardia. We do not believe you would shoot down a civilian 747 full of passengers.”
“Saudia Heavy, the prudent decision would have been to return to Riyadh when you were turned away from Paris. You know that all flights from Africa are required by FAA Regulation to refuel in Europe before heading to the U.S.
Your actions have broken the order to refuel before flying across the Atlantic and trying to enter U.S. Air Space during a worldwide medical emergency. Turn northwest, now, perhaps you can make a water landing and be rescued by the Canadian Coast Guard.”
“Mongoose 6, Mother, intercept Saudia 666 and if it crosses the 12-mile limit, you are cleared, and directed to shoot it down. Confirm, over.”
“Mother, Mongoose 6, Roger Wilco, understand intercept Saudia Heavy 666. Should the Saudia flight cross the 12-mile limit we are ordered to destroy Flight 666, over?”
“Roger Mongoose, I’m sorry this has fallen on you, but they are not to be allowed over U.S. territory, over.”
“Mother, permission to go weapons hot, over.”
“Mongoose, permission granted for weapons hot, over.”
“Mother this is Mongoose 6 and four pups going weapons hot. Intercept in 8 miles, over.”
“Roger out Mongoose.”
The Saudia pilot became a frantic saying, “Mother this is Saudia Heavy, you cannot shoot us down. We have declared an emergency. In the name of Allah, you must help us.”
Silence…
“Mother, Mongoose 6, we have intercepted Saudia Heavy 666, the pilot is turning to the northwest. We need guidance here, over.”
“Mongoose 6, Mother, continue shadow Saudia Heavy until they are within 100 nautical miles of the Canadian border, over.”
“Mother, Mongoose 6, Roger Wilco, understand shadow Saudia Heavy until 100 nautical miles from Canadian border, over.”
“Mongoose 6, Mother, Roger out.”
Mongoose 6 said a silent prayer thanking God that he did not have to destroy a civilian Jet Liner. At 100 nautical miles from the Canadian Border Mongoose 6 and pups broke off to return home.
“May day, May day, this is Saudia Heavy Flight 666 calling Canadian Coast Guard, our fuel is exhausted, and we are going down. Our location is six nautical miles from Newfoundland Airport.
“Saudia Heavy Flight 666, this is Canadian Coast Guard, as we said just moments ago, when we also denied permission to land, we are unable to assist, sorry, good luck.”
The Saudia pilot said, “Allahu Akbar, we are going in, Allah save…” The transmission ended. The 747 hit so hard that no help was needed. The impact caused the plane to bounce from the belly landing to her nose. Saudia Heavy Flight 666 sank to the bottom nose first.
If only the pilot had heeded the denial of service from Paris and turned back knowing the FAA policy of not allowing any flight originating in Africa to land without first refueling in Europe.
The first casualties of the Ebola attack were all Saudis.

About the Author
A J Newman is the author of over a dozen novels that have been published on Amazon. He was born and raised in a small town in the western part of Kentucky. His Dad taught him how to handle guns very early in life, and he and his best friend Mike spent summers shooting .22 rifles and fishing.
He read every book he could get his hands on and fell in love with science fiction. He graduated from USI with a degree in Chemistry and made a career working in manufacturing and logistics, but always fancied himself as an author.
He served six years in the Army National Guard in an armored unit and spent six years performing every function on M48 and M60 army tanks. This gave him a great respect for our veterans who lay their lives on the line to protect our country and freedoms.
He currently resides in Kentucky with his wife Patsy and their three tiny mop dogs, Sammy Cotton and Callie.
