Knots_Jinx and Wyatt's Wedding Page 8

The reception was amazing, but thoroughly exhausting. They danced for hours, ate Leo Wallace’s great food, and then cut into Lissa’s amazing cake at the end. She’d made special cupcakes too, a dozen different flavors that were such a hit, they had all the guests asking for her business card.

In the wee hours, after the guests left, they all headed to the beach for a bonfire, and Wyatt wrapped his arms around his new bride as they watched the sunrise together.

They were heading back to the house when Malcolm appeared on the beach with their suitcases, and soon after, Jack’s yacht appeared on the horizon, and a speedboat raced toward them.

“What’s this?” Wyatt asked turning to his cousin.

“Neither of you are particularly good at taking time off, you know,” Jack said, coming to stand next to Malcolm. “So we’ve all conspired to force you. That boat is for you. It’ll meet you at Bryce’s dock down the beach and take you and all your luggage out to the yacht. You’re going to stay on that yacht, or somewhere it takes you, for at least a month.”

“What?” Jinx began to protest, and Jack held up a hand to stop her.

“No. I won’t hear it. If you come back before that month is up you’re both fired.”

“But Jack–” Jinx began again, and Wyatt clapped a large hand over her mouth.

“No problem, boss,” he said with a grin. “I don’t have nearly the work ethic this one does. Happy to run off on your yacht. No problem.”

They ran off on their honeymoon. Well Wyatt did, his new leg helping him run double time to the dock. Jinx didn’t so much run as get dragged along behind him, dogs yelping excited goodbyes, Moms dabbing at tears and waving, friends blowing bubbles and cheering, and one sleepy sister yawning through it all.

The yacht was glorious. Fully staffed, fully stocked. Every amenity they could imagine. They found a new wardrobe of clothes for each of them in the bedroom and a pile of wedding gifts in the lounge.

“This one’s from Aaron,” said Wyatt reading for a card. His arm was draped over one of Jack’s leather couches and his new bride, sleepy and sipping a mimosa was draped over him. So far, married life was looking pretty great.

Jinx poked around in a box of tissue paper and pulled out what looked like a large black helmet. “What is it?” She said, holding it up.

“Virtual reality headset apparently,” said Wyatt, tossing the card in the box. “Cool.” He pointed to another envelope. “Gimme that one.”

Jinx handed him the card and Wyatt opened it, read for a minute then rubbed his eyes, sniffed, and handed her the card.

“Oh, my, god.” Jinx put her mimosa down and sat up. “Wyatt oh my god. This is insane. Is he crazy? This is too much.”

“I know.” Wyatt nodded. “Jack gave us the apartment and–”

  “And the club.”

  “Well, not exact–.”

“He made me a partner, that’s nearly the same as far as I’m concerned. And Lux too, a partner there as well. That’s just–”

“That’s Jack,” Wyatt said. Reaching for her glass he finished it then poured another from a pitcher. “He takes care of his family.”

“Oh my god.” Jinx shook her head and grinned. “I’m dead tired, but I’ll never get to sleep now, this is incredible!”

Wyatt stroked her cheek and kissed her. “I’m so glad you’re happy babe. You deserve it. As far as the sleep goes…” He took the envelope from her fingers, tossed it with the rest of the pile, then pulled her up from the sofa and began to lead her down the hall, to the bedroom suite. “I think I have a few ideas on how we could tire you out.”

“More married sex?” Jinx asked with a grin.

“More married sex. But this time, no commercial breaks.”
