At this occasion I sat by my mother's grave. There was no one in the cemetery. I was there for many hours. I did not want to go back home. My house was so lonely without my mother. Actuality my life was like this without her. That solitude would in no way leave me on my own.
Subsequently the sky became cloudy and a heavy rain fell upon the ground. I was all wet. My dress stuck to my body. My hair had waned, drenched with water.
The storm endured.
After that I heard a familiar voice.
“Valkyrie!”
It was my father’s voice. He appeared in the cemetery among the graves. He was dressed in his wine-colored tunic and black trousers.
He put out his hands for me to walk in his direction. I got up and went to meet him. I was enfolded in my father's embrace.
“Now that your mother is no longer in this world ...you will go with me to Neptune,” he said carefully.
I looked at the picture of my mother on the grave. I was saying goodbye to her. So I perceived that this world really didn’t belong to me anymore. I should go with my father to somewhere.
My father held my hand softly and we walked across the lawn. A blue light shone into the sky and lit the symbol of Neptune. It became blue.
My father and I were absorbed by an energy that dawned from the symbol of Neptune.
We disappeared soon after...
Neptune would be my home from this day on.
I would live with my father Vincent.
I would be there forever...
VALKYRIE – THE VAMPIRE PRINCESS.
CHAPTER 39
I returned to the planet Neptune for the second time.
This time it would be forever. I felt it inside me since I had returned there to live beside my unique father.
On that occasion, I didn't carry with me the hard feeling of fault, as I did the first time when I was in Neptune for the first time. Before, I had left behind something I regarded so precious in my life, MY MOTHER.
Now I didn't abandon her. Simply, she was not on the planet Earth. She was no more a part of that world.
I felt a distress inside my chest, a voracious longing which brought me remembrances never forgotten and they would be saved forever.
The first scene that came into my mind was when she hugged me and said I was the most important person in her life.
Nothing could separate us, not even... death.
I reflected carefully on everything she had told to me. Everything made sense, that is, her death was not her ending in my life because she was live within me.
I remembered her every day.
That gave me will-power to reside that way, an immortal who was sentenced to live without her mother and without love from a unique vampire who I could not get out of my thoughts.
EROS...
That name was a torment in my existence. I loved him so much and that did me harm, just by not having him beside me. It was one of the things I should resign myself to and even so nothing changed. I was always melancholy... and much unhappy.
It all would be so practical if he could be beside me, if he could love me, in fact.
How good it would look like if that was really possible.
I believe I could accept my immortality without rebellion and fear. I would know how to face my sad truth like an eternal vampire.
CHAPTER 40
My father and I arrived at the main living-room in the castle.
I looked around and memories came flooding back into my mind - the day I became an immortal, my conversations with Eros, Bizak and Valeska. Everything looked so real in that moment. So I gazed on all sides of it and saw the castle was solitary and silent and the servants of my father were not there.
Now none of them were present in that place now because everyone had been destroyed, except for one... Eros.
Before long I walked to the open window and looked at the landscape which consisted of snow. The misty sky and few clouds collaborated to reinforce sorrow at that place.
I didn’t know if I could manage to live in that place for a lot of years.
My father approached me and placed his cold hand on my right shoulder and I had the sense of hearing his voice saying something, so breaking up the silence that was between us.
“This castle is yours. I want you to be very happy living here with me!” He said as he looked at my face which was without vivacity. I didn’t know if his words would bring some radiance toward my face. But I wanted to believe his words would succeed to do it.
Next minute I looked into his supernatural eyes and said to him, with my brittle voice. “Now I have only you in my life.”
Listening to this, he put his arms around my body, confirming I would have him next to me forever. He was my father and would never abandon me. Accordingly I touched a side of my face against his chest and closed my eyes for some instant. Soon I thought of my mother and Eros. But I decided to remain in silence and continue embraced with my father. In that moment I demonstrated me the security I needed.
“Now you go to your bedroom. There is a surprise waiting for you!”
His voice said. I looked up to his face before I blindly obeyed his request and walked through the castle in the direction of my bedroom.
CHAPTER 41
After my father’s order, I walked through the gigantic corridor. The place was gloomy. Clarity coming from lit torches was not sufficient to light up the place. Even so, that could not prevent me from following in front.
We vampires love that kind of space. As usual, it tranquilized our instincts and massaged our souls.
So I stopped in the middle of the course, as soon as I saw a superb image, a figure with his back to me, totally motionless.
It seemed he was waiting for my arrival knowing sooner or later I would be there, before his eyes.
“EROS!”
I shouted fervently at him and my heart raced. I didn't believe he had come back to this castle, on the planet Neptune.
This had been the surprise which my father wanted to reveal to me. He had pardoned Eros.
A smile emerged on my lips, announcing my happiness at his presence in that castle as my heart palpitated strongly in my chest for a second time.
How good it was to experience all I was feeling as I was seeing him next to me, under the same roof. I thought I could stay at that castle for all eternity, without sacrifices at all.
“Eros... it is so good to see you back!” I confessed as I was approaching him, however, he was motionless, keeping his back to me. Something was strange on that occasion.
As soon as I placed my hand on his shoulder and touched his dark shirt, he had a lively reaction and then he turned to face me. His gray eyes ended up meeting mine.
I took a step backward and I became frozen. My lips became wide.
“Who are you?”
I asked him after some time, looking at his strange face and my voice sounded disillusioned.
He was young and his countenance made me remember Eros. They were very similar, although, Eros was more enchanting than he.
“Hello!” He answered with salutation accompanied by one delicate smile on his lips. His eyes ran hastily on my figure. I perceived he looked to be an observant vampire.
I kept silent. However, I was alert to his quick motions.
“You must be Valkyrie, ‘the Vampire Princess’!” He completed as he was astonished at my expression and his eyes ran in the direction of my image all over again. That sounded he knew about me a lot. Someone should have informed him about my existence and my life.
But I grimaced at his firm illustration before me. “How do you know my name?” I asked him with affront.
“Your father spoke to me.”
He approached and consecutively he placed his right hand on my long black hair. It was then I could see the 'symbol of Neptune’ on his pale arm.
Eros and he were similar in their tattoo. Eros had the engraving on his left arm and he had it on his right arm. Seeing that, my head
shook softly.
“My father?” I questioned as I couldn't understand his presence in this castle. Why did my father wish to make such a surprise for me? Why?
“Are you frightened?” He questioned noting my tense face toward him. The eccentric vampire looked to be disposed to talk with me with great concern.
My eyes became more round. I didn’t comprehend his presence there.
“Why are you here?” I answered him with another question.
He made me confused and distrustful at the same time.
“WHY WOULD ONE CREATURE SIMILAR TO EROS BE IN THE CASTLE?”
His face condensed from a split second to other.
“I believe you must ask this question to your father. After all, it was he who brought me to this castle.” The young vampire answered looking at the ground. His expression now had shown me an immense disappointment.
He knew I had not approved his presence in that place, much less in my life.
CHAPTER 42
In a short minute, I entered my father’s bedroom. I arrived at the site even though I hadn’t asked permission to be there. At that moment I had thrown my good manners away from me. I thought I didn’t imagine they existed because my irritation had made me consider it that way.
As soon as my eyes ran in front, I saw his back was to his room’s door and when he noted my presence, my father immediately turned to face my image. He seemed to have a lot of apprehension at my presence just at that moment. Since he knew I would come after him and ask him about his dirty inadmissible trick.
“That’s my great surprise?” I asked him, splitting fury. My lips condensed by themselves while I kept my gaze squeezed in my father’s direction. “A strange vampire in the castle corridor.”
His right hand moved his long wine cape to one side and his not worried voice questioned me then.
“Didn't you like my surprise?” his brow frowned for some instants.
“No,” I answered coldly, as I was becoming more agitated at our conversation.
“I don't believe you did not like the young vampire!” he declared and smiled at me with motivation. His smile looked so not natural. “He is so similar to Eros! Didn’t you think so too?”
“Eros is irreplaceable!” I shouted at my father as I wanted him to comprehend my poor heart and my love for the vampire Eros. “You can bring ten boys similar to him and no one will have any effect on me.”
“You are a fool.”
He approached me and looked down at my pale face. His gray eyes watched my countenance for some time. Soon, I saw his eyes packing together in my direction. After that, his voice challenged me for a second time.
“What do you see in Eros? That vampire in the corridor can make you happy!”
“You don't understand about feelings!” my head shook softly from side to side. “You think it is easy to forget somebody from one night into the next day. The worst is that you think we can take the place of anybody with another who seems similar to that person.”
He grabbed my arm, impatiently and didn’t accumulate his words toward me. His annoyed eyes were still fixed on my face. I ended up facing him in the face as my eyes were wide in shock.
“You are my daughter! I have not generated a creature to live dragging at the feet of one unworthy vampire!”
But my shout challenged him.
“I didn't ask to be your daughter!”
During that second, I tried to stop my solid tears. I didn't want to cry in the presence of my father, even after all his offenses against me. I knew he was my father, but he had no obligation to make me go under that humiliation, all this because I had a human heart and continued loving an unfortunate vampire of his lineage.
“I will not allow you continue as an unfortunate in this castle all for the love you feel for Eros. It’s crap!”
After that, he freed my arm and walked away from me. His cloak moved to the side as his steps looked quickened.
“Don't be a fool and now go away! I don't want to continue our talk.”
“If you brought that vampire to this castle with the intention of making me forget the vampire Eros, you are wasting your precious time! ...That will never be possible!”
I walked rapidly to his room’s door and stopped walking next to it, with an honest phrase suffocated in my throat.
“MY LOVE FOR EROS IS ETERNAL!”
I confessed this looking at his image and subsequent to that, I stepped into the cool corridor with the idea that my father was in a rage because of my audacious attitude.
CHAPTER 43
The edge of the lake was one of my favorite places in Neptune. So I walked to the lake, trying to diminish my agony and my disappointment after the talk with my father. It seemed to be my father saw my future with his eyes and he wanted to command it in his way, without asking me anything. If everything was good for me.
In that occasion I looked at the dark water of the lake. Even though it was totally dark and without reflection, it alleviated my pain anyway.
I remained in that state for a few moments, until I felt a creature behind me. I was not alone any more. I turned my body and could perfectly see it. That expression was not unknown to me anymore. His dark clothes and his seducing look were becoming familiar to me.
“Did you follow me?” I asked him as I looked into his gray eyes and gave him a scowl.
His lips made a soft curve.
“To tell you the truth, I didn’t.” He looked at the dark clouds and looked at my face again. “I didn't answer your question when you asked me who I am.”
I looked attentively at his cheerful face and decided to remain silent. Only his voice should occupy our ears in that moment.
“I am Lyon,” he said and stretched out his right hand in my direction, appealing to my courteous side.
I looked down at his pale hand. I was resolute, not knowing if I could really accept his approach. Though he was similar to Eros, there was something confusing about him and it delayed my acceptance in respect to his person.
Perhaps it could be incorrect judgment from me as I thought he would want to take the place of Eros in my gelid heart.
It was exactly what my father was wishing for - Lyon in my heart and Eros out of it.
My fingers reached out and his hand shook mine as he gazed at my gray eyes. Currently I perceived I had been rude to him. I should offer him an excuse.
“Now do you trust me?” he asked with a cordial smile on his face as he looked to my soft countenance.
“I am trying to,” I answered frankly. Then, I pulled back my hand, which held the fabric of my dark dress after that.
“Where have you come from?” I asked after some time. My eyes observed something away from us. But I had done that in a proposal way.
“I see your father said nothing to you with regards to me and my presence here.” He could clearly see my curiosity and glanced aside.
“We do not talk enough for him to tell me about you,” I explained, looking back in his countenance. Lyon almost gave me other smile. But his lips stopped solid soon after.
“Well...” he sat down on the edge of the lake and tried to relax before saying to me. “I came from the town of ‘pre - vampires'.”
I remained standing, listening to his history. My hands held the long shirt of my dress. I looked to the ground and saw lots of snow under my feet.
“One day, your father was there and when he looked at me, he thought he could give me a chance to become a complete vampire.”
My hair came against my face, after an impetuous wind invaded our talk. But I stayed gazing at him. His narrative looked brilliant. So I had good sense in continuing to hear his voice and his life story.
“Then, he made me drink his blood and I turned into a vampire.”
“It means you are now part of my father’s lineage, like Bizak, Valeska and Eros.” I concluded and my voice sounded tender.
“Bizak? Valeska?” He frowned at me, not knowing exactly who I was talking about. Bu
t he was paying attention to interesting subject. His pale face was bent to one side as his eyes were attached on my figure still firm facing him.
“They were also servants of my father,” I tried to explain to him in a serene voice.
He nodded sympathetically and asked me again. Now my narrative looked exceptional to him. Lyon looked to be interested in knowing everything.
“Why are they not here anymore?”
We gazed at each other at the same time, in seriousness. I felt sorry for saying those sad words. My past got more rapidly to my actual life.
“Both of them betrayed our species.”
I answered him but I felt stunned and turned my head down. The destruction of Valeska and Bizak troubled me deeply.
He stood up and walked slowly in my direction. His right hand lightly slid on my face. I ended up looking in his face. Our supernatural eyes met each other.
“You are so... beautiful!” He said and the brightness in his eyes disconcerted my vision. It seemed I was seeing Eros before me again.
An agreeable feeling invaded my being. It seemed I was together with the creature I carried an incomparable and unique love.
Lyon took advantage of my hallucination and tried to kiss my lips, but I soon awoke and saw he was not Eros at all.
Nevertheless, his lips managed to touch my cheek, due to my abrupt movement, preventing him from kissing my lips. So I remained looking to one side and avoided looking at his image that made me see Eros all the time.
“Sorry,” he said, regretful at his attitude. “I couldn't resist your beauty, Vampire Princess.”
“Lyon, your friendship is enough for me.”
Tried to say him but without hurting him in the interior. My decision should be respected but without hurting anybody. He ended up nodding at easy.
