Where was their steadfast faith in the righteousness of their Lords and the Council of the Heavens? Seeing their faith and resolve wavering so badly he had had to appear to cut himself and the lesser host off from the Lords of Lights wisdom before their questions reached the Lords ears. It was necessary to shelter the Lords from the repercussions of his actions. It did not help that he was forbidden to reveal the full truth to his brethren yet. Only the Lords and a very few trusted angels in their houses knew that a change in the balance of power in the very heavens could well occur any day now.

Those few gifted with foresight in the houses believed the change to be preparing to happen even now. Their prophecies said a new Lord of Light would arise if certain conditions were met. Such a thing had not happened in all of the time since the Lords of Light and Darkness had arrived here and divided the essences and dominions of this realm among them. Many of the Lords of Darkness had fallen or been usurped during the Great Wars until just one remained but never those Lords steadfast in the Light. The angels of the lesser host would have rejoiced at the news that another Light would be added to the heavens if they knew and the Lords of Light dared not come out and explain to their followers that none of them were willing to share the heavens with yet another Lord.

Worse yet allowing the new saint to stand in the heavens and take her rightful place had been the first condition met by the prophecy. Such a thing occurring had seemed all but impossible when it had been spoken of by the diviner’s, but then when she had instantly appeared in front of all of the lesser host right there among them it could not be hidden or undone. Instead, he had cast her companion out hoping to thwart the prophecy.

Then he had tried to arrange for them to perish before more of the prophecy could come to fruition. As much as that had been a hard decision to make, he had hardened himself to its necessity and gave the orders. He had chosen to convince two angels from among the host who’s falling from the light, while regrettable would be the least damaging later in their fight against the Darkness. Then they had went and botched the mission. Worse yet the new saint and her angel Apostaphus had summoned other angels to witness the incident and plead their case passionately before them. After news of that had been passed around no other angels could be convinced to strike down Apostaphus for fear of suffering a similar fate as his first aggressor Clarionides.

Then there were the miracles and good works they were performing across the lands, the cleansing of the Gallows Fields was a feat the Might of Heaven and all its Lords had been unable to accomplish and yet by some unknown agency Francis and Apostaphus had managed it. After studying it he was certain that the hand of this mysterious new Lord was involved. Once he claimed this miracle and more like it through Francis he would have more traction to make his ascent into the heavens.

Then when Bahramel had gotten word that they were meeting other angels near Apostaphus’s old assigned kingdom he had reached out quickly and convinced Eremiel to attend the meeting and discover what they were up to. He had been able to see and hear through his plant what was said and done and when the time came once more he tried to turn the tide of events by casting out those who took Apostaphus side. Shortly after that, they had disappeared and he had hoped that they had perished or been captured by the Dark Ones near that dreadful place the Dark Citadel. That would have freed him up to focus on containing and downplaying this mess and finding the where the Darkness was hiding.

Instead, they had suddenly reappeared elsewhere and tried something unexpected and he had barely acted in time to plausibly intervene to prevent their pleas from reaching to the Lords of Light themselves. Now he was caught in a totally untenable position where at the very least he would have to take responsibility for all his apparent machinations and be cast out by the rest of the council after this situation resolved itself. He could only hope to be forgiven and taken in to one of the houses at some future point by one of the Lords he had served so very faithfully. Likely the other councilors would quietly be changed out too with others in each of their houses for their lesser complicity in the matter and the Lords themselves would then benevolently forgive many of the angels Bahramel had falsely cast out. But that was all speculation and hope for the future on his part, he thought. For now, he needed to figure out if there was yet any way to find out where the next pieces of the prophesy where to fall so that he might block their fulfillment while still fending off the threat that the last of the Dark Lords posed.

  Author's Bio

  Hello I am Marty Myers

I have always been an avid reader since a very early age. My favorite thing to do when I was young was to curl up with a good book and let it carry me off to a world of adventure and I still enjoy reading books to take just such a journey today just as much as I did back then. I especially enjoy works of science fiction and fantasy although I do occasionally read horror as well. For years I considered trying my hand at writing a book.

The Dungeon Con you have here is my first attempt at doing so. I sincerely hope you enjoyed it. I would very much appreciate it if you would leave me a review on Amazon, please and pass the word on about my book to your friends. Independent new authors need all the help and positive exposure we can get. I intend for it to be the start of a trilogy. You can find updates on what I am currently writing on my WordPress blog here

In addition to reading my other hobbies and interests include finding out what goes bump in the night. That’s right I have been interested in ghosts and the paranormal since I was a kid growing up on my grandfathers old Ohio farm. I spent my youth out in the countryside wandering around exploring. Hearing old family ghost stories around campfires. My mother is a fine storyteller who grew up near the Hornet Spook Light in Missouri and spent many nights watching the mysterious light winking up and down its dark country road. I heard tales of ghostly cars offering hitchhikers rides, phantom footsteps eternally circling old haunted graveyards and spectral ladies floating across old country roads only to be struck by cars late at night. These and many other stories kindled my interest in ghosts

Nowadays I am out there trying to find out what is really going on. I was an independent investigator for several years running my own site called Lost and Found Ohio and then I was brought on with Central Ohio Ghost Squad as a paranormal investigator later I transitioned to the United Paranormal Project which I am still a part of.

Over the last several years I have also grown to love walking and photographing cemeteries for their historical significance as well as their beauty and tranquility. There is a lot of interesting symbolism and artistry carved into those tombstones and each cemetery has dozens of tales to tell us if you just slow down really look for them.

Lastly, I love exploring places, finding old forgotten places and capturing some of their essence in photographs before they are torn down and gone forever. Historical places and those with folklore associated with them or a haunting or two are my favorite locations to look for. I love the character of many of the old architectural styles that are no longer being used.
