“Nate, right?” Xavier stood with a welcoming smile stretched across his handsome face and Nate was taken aback yet again. This was not the imposing, dressed entirely in black, all knowing Dom he remembered. This was just a dude. His close cut hair wasn’t gelled and looked like he’d run his fingers through it, a lot. He had some scruff on his chin just like Nate did, and an easy open smile. Dressed in a football jersey and jeans, he looked just as normal as Nate felt and a lot less imposing with a blooming garden behind him.
“Hey, Xavier.” Nate shook the other man’s hand and returned the smile, feeling a lot more optimistic about this meeting than he had moments ago. “I hope I’m not interrupting anything.”
“Not at all.” He assured him and motioned for Nate to have a seat as he returned to his behind the desk. “It’s just paperwork, and I’m always happy to let that go to the side.”
Nate sat and chuckled. “I hear that. I’m the same way when it comes to filling out my kids’ progress reports. Anything but that.” At the questioning look that comment received, Nate added; “I’m a P.E. teacher over at Rosemount. Doing the progress reports is like a cross between getting audited and having to write a best man speech for thirty different people.” Nate grimaced for effect and finished with; “I’d rather have a root canal.”
Xavier chuckled with him and the two men eased back into their chairs, Nate feeling more relaxed by the second.
“So, the other night when I was here.” Nate began. “I saw you were pairing off a bunch of couples. How do you do that? Have you got like, a sixth sense about who would be a good fit or is it something that comes with being a Dom?”
“Excuse me?” Some of the ease melted away at the look of confusion on the other man’s face. “Good fit? What are you talking about?”
“That night. You matched me with Bailey and I saw you matching off other couples too?” When Xavier only stared at him as though he’d started speaking another language, Nate elaborated. “You came to my table and took me back to the sub-room and hooked me up. I saw you do that with like two other people too. What makes you decide who goes with who?”
“Wait.” Xavier held up a hand and shook his head, looking more baffled by the second. “You think I’m some kind of match maker? Really, dude? Because I introduced you to someone?”
“Well, yeah.” Sitting in a brightly lit office with a guy in a jersey surrounded by plants and throw pillows, did make the notion seem a little silly. However. “You did take me back there. And I saw you take those other guys too.”
“First off,” he began, tilting back in his seat and resting one ankle on the opposite knee. “If I remember correctly, the two people I escorted back were friends. One was the boyfriend of one of my employees, who asked me if I knew where she was, which I did so I took him to her. And the other was a friend who was looking for his wife, and I happened to know where she was as well.”
“Oh.” Nate was starting to feel more than a little foolish.
“As for you and Bailey.” Xavier said, motioning with his hand. “Every time I made my rounds that night I caught you two staring at each other like love struck teens. Neither one of you looked willing to make the first move, so I took pity on you two and brought you over.”
“No shit?” Nate was dumbfounded.
“No shit.” Xavier was straight faced.
“So, you don’t have like this magic sense about people?” Just to be clear.
“Do I look like fucking Dumbledore?” He said it with an ironic smile so Nate wasn’t offended, just confused.
“But?” Nate was so unprepared for this outcome that he didn’t even know where to go from here. “Bailey? How did you know-“
“Look.” Xavier cut in. “I only introduced two people who looked like they needed a little help finding a way to break the ice. What happened from there was all up to the two of you.”
“Wow.” Nate scrubbed a hand through his hair and rubbed the back of his neck. “Okay. Well, shit. Now, I’m not sure I came to the right place to ask for help with this then.”
“Help with what?” He wanted to know.
“Well, I’m not a real Dom.” There. He’d confessed. Now is where he was going to get thrown out and banned for life.
Or maybe now.
When the silence continued to stretch, Nate decided to elaborate. “I had never been to a BDSM club before that night and I don’t know what the hell I’m supposed to do as one.” Still silent. “Bailey thinks I’m a Dom.”
“Ah.” Finally! A reaction.
“Right, Ah!” Nate said, glad to get the other man back in the game with him. “She told me she wants me to be her Dom. She asked me to train her.” His voice rose as the implications and what ifs in relation to Bailey started firing in his brain like a strip of firecrackers. “How the hell am I gonna train her when I don’t know what the hell I’m doing in the first place?”
It was the deep chuckling that stopped the avalanche of doubts and closed his mouth before the flood of questions could break free.
“Nate, take a breath.” Xavier pushed to his feet and came around to perch a hip on the corner of his desk. “I don’t see why you’re letting yourself get so worked up over this. She’s a novice and so are you. Right?”
“I guess.” Nate admitted with a shrug.
“She likes to be dominated in the bedroom. Did you like being the top to her bottom?”
“Fuck yes.” Wholeheartedly.
“Then what’s the problem?”
“But, I don’t know everything that I’m supposed to do to be a Dom.”
More warm laughter. “It’s not like you can go to college and take courses on this. There’s no degree to hang on your wall.”
Well, put like that, Nate was feeling a bit like he’d overreacted.
“She’s new to the scene. You’re new to the scene. The way I see it, that makes you two perfect for each other. You can learn together. No Dom started out a Master, and there’s no licensing or regulations on it. Join the club. The two of you can start signing up for our monthly workshops and also, try pairing up with some of the more experienced players, you can always find couples here that are willing to teach you some of what they’ve learned.” He reached out and placed a warm hand on Nate’s shoulder. “Just keep an open and on going conversation between you two. The more intense play will come the longer you’ve been in the scene. You two will get there.”
It made perfect, rational sense. So much so that Nate felt like a fool that he hadn’t thought of it himself. There was one problem though. “How do I tell her I’m not experienced though? See, she kinda told me how she thought I was a Dom and, well, I kinda let her believe it.”
Here, at last, was the imposing façade of the Master of Raising Cane. His smile faded and in it’s place was the serious and penetrating stare that had Nate believing the guy had magic match making powers, among other things.
“The first thing you need to know about BDSM, and it’s the most important and vital, in my opinion, is honesty. Under no circumstances is it okay to lie or evade when it comes to this. BDSM is a power exchange. The bottom is trusting you with more than just her body, she’s giving you the power to gut her and trusting you not to do it. That is nothing to be taken lightly.”
“I know.” And he did, Nate felt awful that he’d let things go on as far as they had. “So, how do I fix this? How do I tell her now? After coming this far?”
“Well, that could be tricky. But I think I might have a way to break the news to her that you both will enjoy.”
Chapter Eight
Bailey walked into Raising Cane a week later feeling like she was on top of the world. Due to work, her and Nate had to settle on late night phone calls and steamy texts to get them through the week. It had been a challenge. For both of them.
Bailey felt a wellspring of emotions bubble up from her heart as she gazed at the man to her right. He was not too short, not too tall, he was funny and sexy and seemed to enjoy her company just
as much as she enjoyed his. However, if she followed her heart and blurted out that she was already in love, he’d probably leave a Nate shaped hole in the wall in his mad dash to get away. Too soon. She told her foolish heart. It’s much too soon for that.
“Did I tell you how smoking hot you look tonight?” Nate’s eyes devoured her from head to toe as he asked.
“Yes.” She smiled and felt a blush heat her cheeks under his regard. “Three times now.” She teased and made a mental note to wear more purple. The super short dress was a deep eggplant color that she loved and since it was a dress for nightclubs, it showed almost more than it covered.
Nate’s hand was warm and strong wrapped around hers as he led her toward the back room where they’d first met. When they got to the doorway Bailey saw Xavier standing in the center of it with about six other couples surrounding him.
“Before we go in;” Nate turned to face her just inside the door and took both her hands in his. “I need to tell you something.”
“Okay.” She gave his hands a reassuring squeeze because he looked very nervous all of a sudden.
“I’m not a Dom.” He told her on a huge exhale as though he’d been holding his breath. Then he shook his head and went on before she could respond. “Well, I am. I am a Dom, I think.”
“Nate?” Bailey asked, he was talking in circles. “You’re not making any sense.”
“I never tried BDSM or set foot in a BDSM club before our first night together. And I’m sorry I didn’t tell you the truth right from the beginning. But, God! I really wanted a chance to be with you.”
“You did?” Bailey felt a little shocked at his news, but that was nothing compared to the pleasure it gave her to hear how much he wanted to be with her.
“The crazy thing is. This works for me. BDSM. I have loved everything we’ve done together and if you can forgive me for not coming clean about my lack of experience, I’d love for you to be my sub and for the two of us to learn together.”
“Are you kidding?” It was like a fairytale. “Yes!” She said, giddy with joy and it was only at the last second that she was able to bite back the words in her heart. Way too soon for that.
“Thank God.” He’d responded and hugged her tight for a moment before pulling back and motioning to the group behind them. “Because I signed us up for a six week beginners course and tonight’s the first workshop.”
“Alright you two.” Xavier drawled from behind them. “Save that for the lesson. Let’s get started.” Bailey and Nate grinned like co-conspirators then turned to join the group. Hand in hand.
Epilogue
Bailey walked into Raising Cane three months later with a now familiar sense of homecoming. As she cut her eyes to her handsome as hell escort, she knew he was a big part of that. He caught her look out of the corner of his eye and sent her a flirty wink that still had the power to make her blush.
“Kneel here. I’m going to prep the scene.” As she got into position, she reflected how far they both had come in these last three months. He’d been so nervous the night he brought her back to the club for the first time. She had seen it plainly even though he tried hard to act normal. When he’d revealed the reasons for his nerves, she’d been blown away.
For Bailey, who’d been dreaming of finding a Dom for years but also afraid of getting in over her head, it was like getting everything she’d ever wished for. Any fears about not living up to his previous subs vanished as well as the fears that she wouldn’t be experienced enough to satisfy him. Suddenly, like magic, they were on a level playing field. Both novices and both eager to learn, together.
As she watched him wipe down the stockade and adjust the height to suit them, she felt a million emotions bubble up from her heart and try to spill out of her mouth. Words that were way too premature to be spoken at this point. But, that didn’t stop them from swirling around in her heart.
She could think to herself how she was already in love all she wanted. It was only a matter of waiting, she told her impatient heart, if it was real then two or three more months down the road, she could tell him. If she blurted it out now, he’d think she was a crazy person. Nobody fell in love this fast. Love at first sight is great in movies and books, but who would believe it was real after only a couple months? Even she wouldn’t believe it, if it were one of her friends in this same situation.
So, she’d continue to keep her feelings to herself until more time had passed. Then, she would know it wasn’t merely wild infatuation, and not just the culmination of all the great sex they’d been having.
Later, she could trust what her heart was telling her with every one of its quickened beats. She was in love.
Bailey could not remember ever dating a man so well suited for her. They both worked with kids; he was a teacher and she was a preschool facilitator who assessed and evaluated whether or not kids were ready for school. They liked the same movies, and music and even the same types of food. They spent almost every night on the phone where, like love struck teens, neither one of them wanted to be the first to hang up. He was the first thing she thought of when she opened her eyes in the morning and the last when she closed them at night.
Bailey watched him saunter back toward where she knelt with a confidence she’d helped him achieve and had to bite her lips to keep quiet.
“C’mon sugar, let’s get you warmed up.” She slipped her cool fingers into his much warmer grip and let him help her to her feet, then stood quietly in front of the stocks as he removed her silk dressing gown. She was left in a thong and matching push up bra in purple satin with black lace. “Look at my sweet girl.” He murmured close in her ear as his hand smoothed over the globes of her exposed ass. “The things I’m going to do to this tonight.” Then he made a sound of pleasure and smacked her left flank before stepping back and helping her get into position.
The stocks were a favorite for both of them. Bailey loved the feeling of being trapped yet still had the ability to move a bit, and Nate loved having her restrained yet still completely visible and accessible.
“Safe word, sugar.” He told her standing in front so all she could see were the toes of his widespread boots. “Gimme your safe word so I can flog that sweet ass and make it glow for me.”
“Treasure.” She all but panted. “Treasure, Sir.” When his hand stroked gently over her hair, the way he always did before the start of a scene, those words almost burst out again. His tenderness, his utter and complete gentleness undermined her resolve to keep quiet more than even the fabulous sex.
Thud.
“Oh God.” She uttered as the first stroke from the heavy leather flogger landed on her back. He let the thick buffalo strands fall to her skin rather than striking her with them, letting the weight of the tool do most of the work. Then he drug it down the length of her spine and over her ass before raising it for another lash. It had taken him lots of delicious practice to find his preferred technique. It had been a luxurious journey to get this far and Bailey could only imagine where they would go from here.
Over and over she was treated to the thud and drag of the flogger, until her skin warmed then tingled. Then he began to pick up speed, hitting a little harder and faster. Without warning he changed tools and the next strike was with a lighter flogger that snapped more than it thudded. And she cried out for him. Smack! Smack, smack, slap. Faster, harder and from different angles. Her entire backside was on fire now, in a way that made her arch and strain for more.
She was wet. Bailey could feel her juices soaking the tops of her thighs and trickling down farther. Before long she was ready to beg for release.
Nate knew her so well though, he had gotten so attuned to her pleasure that almost as soon as she had the thought she felt his fingers probing between her legs.
“Oh, baby. Fuck you’re so wet for me.” He practically crowed as his fingers played with her folds, teasing the lips and combing through the wet patch of hair. “Tell me, Bailey, who’s is this?” And his finger tapped lightly o
n her engorged clit.
“Your's, Sir!” She shouted, flexing her hips in an effort to get more. More of his fingers, more of him. All of him. “I’m yours.”
