“Yeah and your parents wouldn’t let us have the door closed last time either,” she giggled. “It’s kind of weird. They kept it the same. Look at this. My baseball mitt is still in my nightstand. It won’t fit my hand now. I tried.” He gave a sheepish grin. Kit sat next to him on the twin-sized bed. “How do you feel?” “Weird,” he grimaced. “I sort of feel like myself, sort of not. I’m all grown up but I don’t have any memory of growing up.” “You grew up handsome,” Kit smiled. “Thank you. You grew up beautiful, Kit-Kat, just like I knew you would. I’m surprised you aren’t already married.” “Nobody ever wanted me, Dane. What happened that night, when you disappeared, changed everything. I was the weird kid from then on. I’ve never had a boyfriend. I didn’t even go to the prom because I didn’t want to go alone.” “Did you go to college?” “Yeah and I guess a couple of guys looked at me there, but I never felt right about it. You were always still in my heart. Even though you were gone and everyone believed you were dead, it felt like cheating. We were going steady when you disappeared.” “You waited ten years for me, Kit-Kat.” “I guess you could say it like that, yeah.” Dane leaned over and closed his eyes, pressing his lips to hers. Kit accepted the kiss. She’d waited a decade for this. She was going to make every second count. When they finally broke to take a breath, Dane laughed. “What’s so funny?” Kit frowned. “I’m still a bad kisser, aren’t I?” “No, I was just thinking that I’m probably the oldest virgin in town.” Kit snickered. “You and me both.” “I’m older than you by a month, remember?” “Oh yeah. You’re ancient.” “Not too ancient to kiss you again, Kit-Kat.” “Thank goodness for that.” He slid his arms around her and captured her lips again. It felt right. For the first time in a decade, Kit truly believed that life was good.
Chapter Ten Dane knocked on Kit’s door. She answered and pulled him inside, hugging him tightly. The past few weeks since Halloween had been a flurry of activity for the duo. The media had flocked around Dane, ecstatic for the story of his safe return ten years to the day after his disappearance. Dane refused to say where he had been and Deputy Kaminski was able to pull a favor with the district judge to have the report sealed. The mystery of Dane Grissinger’s disappearance and re-emergence would be the topic of speculation for years to come, but Dane and Kit were prepared to live with that fact. Kit shut the door behind him, silencing the few reporters who still followed him, hoping for a scoop. “They just don’t give up, do they? Now I know how celebrities feel.” “We have paparazzi. Who’d have thought it in this town?” Dane laughed. “So what is on your agenda for today?” “You,” he placed a soft kiss on her lips. “Nothing else? No more interviews to give? Nothing your parents want you to do?” “Nope, today is for you and me. We haven’t had any time alone together since I came back. That’s no way to treat the girl I’m going steady with.” Dane flashed that crooked grin Kit remembered from long ago. “Going steady. Did we really call it that?” “Heck yeah. Going steady was the thing to do! Everyone was jealous of us because we were going steady.” “They were?” “Yeah.” “Here I thought we were just a pair of goofball kids who were trying to be grown up,” Kit teased. “Now we’re a pair of goofball grown-ups trying to be kids again.” “No kidding.” “But I don’t want to be kids today, Kit.” “Oh? What do you want to be today Dane?” “I want to be grown up. I want to do something very grown up.” He nuzzled his lips against her neck.
The husky timbre of his voice against her exposed neck sent a shiver through Kit’s body that far exceeded any feeling the butterflies ever had given. “I’ve waited so long for you, Dane.” “I want you, Kit. I want you more than ever. Too many years went by with nothing to do but think of you and all the time we missed. No more. No more missing out.” His hands caressed her breasts a bit roughly. His lack of experience showed but Kit didn’t care. She was excited at the prospect, too. All through school she’d hear murmurs of who was doing it with whom. Kit was always excluded from the category. Nobody ever wanted to “do it” with her – until now. Like the overactive virgins they were, each of them stepped back almost in unison, pulling their shirts over their heads. Then they stopped. Kit’s jaw dropped agape. How had Dane grown up with such a nice torso? When had he grown that bit of chest hair covering his pecs and trailing downward to— Her mind blanked when she realized where it led. She glanced back up at Dane’s face to see his expression. Dane was staring at her breasts. Kit’s lovely C-cup filled her bra out nicely. She reached around and unfastened her bra. “Let me,” Dane pleaded as the bra loosened around her body. Kit nodded and he reached forward, hooking his fingers in the straps, pulling them down off her arms. He gawked at her bare chest. “Oh, my goodness.” “What?” Kit blushed, suddenly feeling very insecure. “Nothing,” Dane whispered. “This is the first time I’ve ever seen a woman without her top on, except pictures in magazines.” “Do you like?” Dane nodded vigorously. Kit grinned broadly at his response and began to walk backward slowly, trying to be sultry and enticing and hoping she prevailed. Dane followed with a greedy expression, so she assumed it was working. She turned when she got to the foot of the stairs and scampered up. No easy feat without a bra, as she quickly discovered. The heaving bounce of her breasts was almost distracting for both. Dane hurried up after her, so fast that his momentum carried him forward even after she stopped, bowling both of them over on to the bed. “Oops, I’m sorry!”
Kit laughed. “At least we fell on the bed where it’s soft.” “There’s no place I’d rather be than in your bed, Kit.” His gaze showed pure adoration. He quickly added, “or anywhere with you, really.” Kit rolled onto her back. She unbuttoned her pants and lifted her hips to remove them. Dane cut in quickly, grabbing the hem of her pants and underwear both, pulling them down together. He didn’t stop until he had them all the way off. Kit lay there naked with a man for the first time in her life. Her nipples hardened from anticipation, apprehension and the slight chill of the room. “Your turn,” she whispered, not trusting herself to speak any louder. Dane unbuttoned his jeans and slid them down. He wore boxers underneath. Kit had sometimes wondered if he was a boxers kind of guy or if he wore tighty-whities. He tugged the boxers off next, throwing them off the bed. Kit stared at Dane’s nude form. His erection was larger than she had imagined it would be. Would that thing really fit in her? She was about to find out. She reached out and tentatively touched his manhood. “You can touch harder than that,” he whispered, encouraging. “It gets harder than that?” Kit’s eyes widened as she misunderstood what he’d said. Dane laughed despite himself. “Maybe,” he winked. He took her hand and wrapped her fingers around his shaft, showing her the motion she needed to make him feel good. The look on his face was all the motivation she needed. She copied the motion he showed her, stroking his shaft firmly. Dane groaned in pleasure. “Yes, like that.” Kit had a momentary flash in her brain, wondering if that was how he masturbated, but she wouldn’t ask. She kept stroking him, her other hand fondling his chest, thumbing his nipples. “Touch me, too.” The command was whispered, yet forceful enough to spur him to action. He cupped her breasts, caressing them gently. He leaned down and took a nipple in his mouth, rolling his tongue across the firm nub. Kit closed her eyes at the new sensation. She never imagined that being intimate with a man could feel so good, no matter how much other people talked about the act. Dane moved one hand between Kit’s legs. His fingers explored her virgin folds. Kit parted her legs, allowing him access to a part of her she’d saved solely for him. She jolted as his fingers rubbed her sensitive clit. Her gasp of pleasure told more than words could.
She was wet. She was getting even wetter as he kept touching her. The excitement of finally being with him had already stimulated her, but his ministrations brought her to a new height. “I need you, Dane.” “I need you too, Kit.” Desire dripped from his hoarse tone. Dane pulled his hands away and moved on top of her. Kit let go of him as he did. She parted her legs more so he had plenty of room to fit. She hoped he would fit. She knew
just how large his erection was. Hopefully this would feel good and not hurt. She couldn’t imagine Dane ever hurting her. Dane pushed and Kit winced. “Lower,” she whispered. “Sorry.” He adjusted his angle and slid slowly, steadily into her slick, velvety depths. “Ohhhhhhh…” he moaned as he entered. Kit felt tightness and a small pinch as he pushed inside but it wasn’t bad. She shifted her hips to get a better angle and closed her eyes. She was doing it. She was making love to Dane. When they were going steady as teenagers, of course they had known what sex was, but neither of them had ever got beyond kissing. Sex was still a forbidden delight, a pleasure yet to come. They were now in uncharted territory – a path they delighted in exploring together. Dane maintained a slow, even pace. “Is this ok?” “Yes. It feels good, Dane.” At least, Kit thought it felt good. She was a little bit sore from being stretched by his size, but it wasn’t bad. Dane wrapped his arms around her, holding her tight as his hips continued their slow pumping motion. Soon his pace increased. Kit didn’t complain. She was content to let him direct the action today. Maybe next time they’d try more but for now, this was perfect. The sudden jolt of ecstasy caught her by surprise. Her back arched and she moaned loudly. “Are you ok?” Dane asked, pausing. “Don’t stop!” He grinned and thrust harder and faster still. Kit wrapped her legs around his firm ass, pulling him to her with every forward thrust he gave. “Kit, I can’t stop it,” he panted. “Don’t stop!”
“Kit!” Dane’s voice growled as he slammed deep inside. His peak ignited another wave of pleasure inside her. Dane gave some more jerky thrusts, then collapsed on top of her, panting. “Good?” She asked. “Uh-huh,” he nodded. “I thought so, too.” She grinned and giggled. “Why did we wait so long?” Dane looked at her, one eyebrow raised. He wasn’t going to dignify that question with a verbal reply. “I love you, Dane.” “I love you too, Kit-Kat.” “Don’t ever leave me again.” “Not a chance. You’re stuck with me now.” * * * * * “Are you kidding?” Frank Grissinger asked. “No. I thought you’d want to know.” Deputy Joe Kaminski shook his head. “You can call for a copy of the report if you want.” “No, I trust your word. That is just very, um, unexpected, if you know what I mean.” “I thought so too, but I am not about to look a gift horse in the mouth. Best to let sleeping dogs lie as far as this is concerned.” Frank did not comment on the animal analogies and just nodded in agreement. “Thank you for this information, Joe. I’ll tell Dane and Kit.” “How are they doing?” “I don’t know,” Frank laughed. “They’re always together now. I hardly see him.” “I suppose that’s how it is when you’re young and in love,” the deputy chuckled. “See you later, Frank.” “Bye, Joe.” Frank closed the door, then went to the phone and dialed Kit’s number, assuming Dane was with her. “Hello, Kit, this is Frank. Would you and Dane come by the house here today sometime? I have some news for the both of you. Oh, whenever you get time. OK, I’ll see you later. Bye.”
An hour later, Dane and Kit pulled up to the Grissinger home and went in. “Hey, Dad, what’s up?” Dane asked. “Sit down.” Both sat, looking at the man. “Joe Kaminski came by today. The results of Fermina Viteaux’s autopsy are in.” “What did they say she died of?” “Heart attack.” “That’s it?” Kit’s astonishment showed. “That’s it. I guess the excitement was too much for her. Joe is not poking his nose into it any further and I would suggest that you don’t, either.” “Wow, I was afraid they’d find something weird and there would be more investigating,” Dane admitted. “I think we all did, Dane.” “Dad, where’s Mom? We’ve got some news, too.” “Sheila!” Frank called. “Come on downstairs. The kids want to talk to us.” Kit had to grin at being called a kid again. Since she and Dane had taken their relationship to the next level, she’d felt nothing like the gangly kid she was when he’d disappeared. Sheila Grissinger came down the stairs. Her hair was pulled back in a haphazard bun. “What?” “Dad, Mom,” Dane started. “You know that we’ve all been through a lot. Kit never gave up on me. If it weren’t for her, I’d still be stuck in that place.” His parents nodded. Their eyes grew teary. “I love her so much. I know I was just a kid when I was taken, but I knew back then that I loved her. Maybe it was still a crush, maybe it was more, but I knew that Kit was the girl for me. She’s the only girl I’ve ever wanted. She’s the only one I ever want. We just wanted to let you know that we’re getting married. I’ve asked her and she said yes.” Kit nodded in the affirmative. Sheila squealed and hugged her son, then hugged Kit. “I’m glad,” Frank beamed. “I know you two will be happy together. I have something else to tell you.” “What?” Dane sat back down next to Kit.
“You know we’re descended from the Coulbournes. Well, until you returned, I was the only surviving blood relative. I am the legal and rightful owner of the entire Coulbourne estate. If it wouldn’t scare you kids too badly, I’d like to have the place fixed up and give it over to you, Dane. The Coulbourne fortune is yours if you want it.” Dane blinked, then looked at Kit. “What do you think?” “Like your Dad says, it is scary.” She took a deep breath and exhaled slowly. “Perhaps what the place needs is a fresh start, though? Now that the curse is gone, maybe we need to do some remodeling and make it a happy home for us.” “I think we can do that, Kit-Kat. Dad, I don’t know what to say. This is, wow, overwhelming!” “I know, Dane. It was overwhelming to me when I inherited it. Knowing the history of the place, I tried to distance myself from it. I think Kit’s right. With work, it can be made good again.” “Do you have the key?” Frank went to the secretary desk, fishing the key out of a drawer. “Here you go.” He dropped it into his son’s hand. “I’ll start on the paperwork today. Be careful if you go in there. It’s been empty for so long that it is probably rickety in a lot of places.” “Thanks, Dad.” Dane held his hand out to Kit, helping her up. “We’ll see you later. Love you.” “Love you, too,” his parents said. Dane and Kit left the house together. “Wow, we’re getting married and have our own house waiting already. You won’t have to keep paying rent on your house.” “I know, isn’t that wild? Your parents just gave us the Coulbourne Castle.” “Do you want to go see it?” “Sure. This time, I won’t be scared. We’ll make this work together, Dane.” “I know we will, Kit-Kat. I know we will.” The End Or is it?
