“Nope” she stated simply.
G leaned back in his seat and stared straight ahead, as he lightly smiled.
“Wow,” he said, almost in a whisper, as the rain beat hard against the windshield and they continued on to their secret destination.
After about twenty minutes, they made a turn off the highway onto a dark road that climbed higher and higher into the mountains. Heaven noticed the houses becoming more and more luxurious the further up they went.
“Are we going to your house?” Heaven blurted out, wishing that she hadn’t. G laughed before answering.
“Why would you think we were going to my house?”
Heaven paused, and looked around ingenuously and she shrugged her shoulders.
“I don’t know, I mean.”
G looked at her long and hard.
“You been asking about me Heaven?” The question caught her off guard.
“What? No,” she responded, with a childlike attitude as if she was not thinking about him at all, let alone every minute of the day. G nodded, but didn’t answer. He just slowed the car and pulled up to a gate. He rolled down his window and punched some numbers into the keypad, and as the gate swung open, Heaven’s stomach flipped with anxiety.
“Well, you were right,” G finally spoke, but Heaven couldn’t even talk as she took in the beauty of the beautiful brick stone mini mansion that they slowly approached. They drove around the circular driveway and G parked, as Heaven stared at the lustrously lit fountain in the center, with matching ground lights that illuminated the exterior of the house.
“This…this is your house?” Heaven questioned in awe. G just studied her beauty as she studied the beauty of their surroundings, and then he snapped himself out of it.
“C’mon, let’s go inside.”
Heaven hesitantly opened her door and slowly climbed out as G walked around and led her to the front door. As they walked up the stairs, Heaven imagined herself living there, her and G on their way inside of their home and off to bed. It depressed her knowing that it could only be a figment of her imagination.
G walked inside first, and hit two switches on the right, that turned on the light in the long hallway and the large room that faced them ahead. Heaven walked slowly into the room and took in everything, the tall cathedral ceilings, the marble floors, rich colors and textures, and all of the little things that reeked of luxury. This room, obviously a living room of some sort, was larger than Khalil’s whole apartment. She looked to her right and noticed another room, and curiosity led her there, walking through the house as if on a tour. This room was another living room, almost as large, but looked as if it hadn’t been touched. Adjacent to this, was a well-appointed dining area that looked to Heaven as if kings and queens should eat there. As she walked through the dining room, she lightly touched the crystal that sparkled like diamonds, and headed through a small doorway that led to another room, which looked like a study of some sort. There were books everywhere and Heaven smiled at the thought of G reading in his study like some scholar. This room had her at a dead end, so she had to backtrack to her starting point. However when she got there, G had disappeared. She cautiously walked in the opposite
direction of where she had originally begun her tour and saw that on the other side of the hallway, was a gorgeous all black and steel kitchen with an ebony island for eating and a large eight scone flat surface stove that looked like a smooth counter top. Heaven looked down and noticed that even the floors were black ebony marble. She had never seen a house like this and only imagined what the upstairs must have looked like. She wasn’t even sure if she could find the upstairs.
“Heaven.” She heard her name being called in G’s deep voice but had no idea where he was. She looked around and noticed two large black tinted sliding doors behind her, to the far end of the kitchen. As she got closer to them, she could see the silhouette of G outside. She opened the doors and the sight before her was breathtaking. A large flawlessly landscaped back area that stretched out, with a custom shaped, lit pool and huge Jacuzzi that sat one layer above it to the left. The air was not too cool but it was still drizzling, so they stood under the patio ceiling as Heaven took in everything, the house, the night, him. She turned to him sincerely.
“G, your house is so beautiful. You’re so lucky to live here… you’re really, really blessed.” Her last comment surprised him and perplexed him simultaneously. She had no idea.
“Yeah,” was his only reply, but it came out more as a question. It angered Heaven slightly that he probably didn’t appreciate his home nearly half as much as she did, but she quickly let that go with one brief glance at him that she was sure he didn’t catch. He did.
The breeze blew mist onto them and Heaven caught a light whiff of his cologne again. What is that and why does it drive me crazy?
“I’m sorry I called you out here in the rain and shit,” he laughed lightly. “I just like coming out here sometimes, we can go inside if you want though.” Heaven smiled a little and answered him.
“No, I like it. It’s nice out here, it’s real peaceful.” He nodded and Heaven went to get another quick glance but he was already looking at her. She had to hold onto the patio door to keep her balance. Out of embarrassment and nervousness she giggled, but he held his intense stare, and Heaven continued to hold on to the door. G looked down at her gorgeous body leaning against his patio door and reached down and grabbed her pretty little hand. Damn, Heaven thought, scared that she just might buckle at the knees and collapse.
“What’s wrong Heaven? Do I make you uncomfortable?” He asked sincerely, hoping that he didn’t.
For the first time that night, Heaven felt like the words she wanted to say just might make their way to her throat and out of her mouth. She paused and looked at him seriously before responding.
“No, it’s not that. It’s just… like when you look at me.” She paused and looked into his eyes, then continued. “And then when you touch me. It’s like, I can hardly take it.” Her voice was so sugary and hearing her say those words, sent all types of things through G that no chick had ever made him feel. The more he thought about it, nothing had ever made him feel like that, not even money, which he thought was his ultimate weakness. He moved closer to her.
“Well then, that’s a problem,” he said, his baritone voice now low and sexier.
“Yeah?” Heaven asked, gasping for air and feeling herself sinking to the ground. What is wrong with me? He licked his lips and looked in her eyes.
“Yeah, definitely. Cause, I like looking at you Heaven. And I like touching you. And, I plan on doing those things as much as I can, as often as you’d let me.” She couldn’t even answer, she just concentrated on staying on her feet as she leaned against the glass. She thought he was finished but he moved in closer and continued.
“And, if you can’t take that. How are you gonna take this?”
Heaven furrowed her eyebrows slightly confused.
“What?” She asked softly, but was cut off by his lips lightly against hers. At first, Heaven kept her eyes open, not wanting to miss a moment, not sure if she’d get it back. But then she allowed herself to close them and slip completely as she stopped focusing on her balance, and let his strong arms hold up her small frame. They kissed more intensely and Heaven wrapped her arms around his neck, wanting him to just take her. Heaven always imagined this moment, wondering if she would be a good kisser to him, how it would be, but she was surprised at how natural it was as their tongues intertwined. G moved in front of her and pressed her back against the sliding door, still in a deep passionate kiss, as he moved his hands to caress the small of her back down to her ass. He could feel his dick getting hard as he tongued her neck and rubbed her soft skin. Heaven opened her eyes and looked up at the sky, not believing this was actually happening. She felt like she was having an outer body experience. Something came over her, and she pushed him with her body from under the deck covering, out into the rain. She kissed him deeply and sl
id her hands under his tee and then under his wife beater, rubbing up and down his strong back. The rain intensified the situation making Heaven feel something that she had never felt before, horny. She reached for his belt buckle anxiously and G, so into the moment did the hardest thing that he had ever done, he stopped her.
“Whoa…whoa, wait Hev,” he said, taking a deep breath and stepping back from her. The rain beat down harder on her, causing her wet hair to stick to her face and her wet top to stick to her breasts. G licked his lips and closed his eyes, and then he looked down at the ground. Heaven felt as if she were about to cry. Oh my god, I did something wrong. He probably thinks I’m a hoe, I knew I shouldn’t have reached for his pants. What was I thinking? I should’ve let him initiate.
I’m sorry,” she whispered, but he ignored her. Still looking at the ground, he spoke her name.
“Heaven.”
“I’m sorry,” she repeated on the verge of tears. She was scared of the consequences. What if he no longer liked her, was it her innocence that drew him to her? What if she had ruined that? Had she misjudged G? Would he tell Khalil?
“Heaven,” he repeated. “Stop apologizing.” She fell silent as he finally looked at her again and spoke.
“I’m really, really feeling you. I want you so bad. I mean real bad. I don’t think I ever wanted something so bad in my life. But your situation, everything about it is telling me to stop. You not even legal yet, what the fuck am I doing?” He asked this more to himself, as Heaven just looked on. “Baby girl, just right now, I don’t think we should do this. And I apologize for letting it go this far, but I can’t let if go further, not right now.”
She looked at him wondering exactly what he meant. Did he mean it was over completely, that they need to not ever go further, or just not tonight? Her confusion showed on her face.
“So, that’s it? You don’t even wanna be friends?” Heaven found herself asking. G came close to her quickly; sure that she had misunderstood his words.
“No, no that’s not it. Not at all. Like I said, I’m feeling you Hev. I wanna know you, I wanna be around you. I just wanna make sure that when you give yourself to me, you’re ready.” He paused and then cracked a smile. “And you’re legal.” They both laughed as Heaven playfully punched him before answering.
“But I’m ready now.” He looked at her, still smiling, and shook his head ‘no’.
“No you’re not Hev. You just think you are. But I would never do that to you, fuck you and then send you back to that nigga, to that fucked up situation you in right now. You got enough shit going on, I don’t wanna add to that… I wanna be your escape.” She smiled softly and her heart melted. What was happening here? She couldn’t help but wonder.
She folded her arms across her chest feeling the chill for the first time that night.
“So what happens now?” She asked. He stared back seriously.
“You trust me, that’s what happens. Do you trust me Heaven?” She nodded her head ‘yes’ after contemplation. She did trust G, she just hoped that he wasn’t like the rest that she had trusted, her parents, Khalil, Ricky. G sensed the hesitation in her response and reputed it.
“Nah, you don’t trust me yet. But you will, I promise.” He put his hand out for her and she grabbed it, but she didn’t answer him, she just followed as he led her inside. The night’s events had left her with every possible emotion she could ever feel, but all she could think of was trusting G. She wanted, no she needed, to trust G.
…His Sleeping Beauty: The Rescue…
That night, Heaven must have stayed in Shay’s bathtub for over an hour, bringing herself to climax off of memories of her and G’s escapades. And after telling Shay every single detail of the night, minus the bathtub triple x action, and listening to Shay’s warnings, Heaven went off into a deep sleep enriched with vivid dreams. But she was awakened by an irritated Khalil, who was at Shay’s house bright and early to take her home.
“Get ya shit, let’s go. I got stuff to do.”
Instantly, her life was back to normal and it was just like midnight in the story of Cinderella where the carriage turned to a pumpkin, and she had to say goodbye to her prince charming. Her fairy godmother, in this case, would be Shay.
The next few days things went on as usual with Heaven. It was her everyday life, school, home, back to school, and her thoughts of G were the only thing breaking the monotony. She had managed to make it all the way to Wednesday before catching a blow to the face from Khalil, over the fact that she had shrunk his favorite shirt in the wash. Heaven knew better though, she knew any shirt she would have shrunk would have been Khalil’s favorite shirt if it gave him an excuse to take his frustrations out on her face. However, as she was sitting at the dining room table, icing her swollen cheek, the doorbell buzzed and Heaven got a funny feeling in her stomach.
Khalil must had been expecting someone because he didn’t ask who it was, he just buzzed them up. Heaven immediately went and sat on the couch and turned on the television. She hoped that it was G at the door and she wanted to be in the living room when he came up. She tried to act nonchalant as she flipped through the channels but she could feel Khalil burning holes through her with his eyes, probably wondering why she didn’t take her ass into the bedroom. She was shocked when he didn’t say anything; he just walked over to the door.
Boom! Boom! Two hard knocks at the door. Khalil unlocked the latch slowly and turned the knob and before Heaven knew what was going on, all hell broke loose. Two policemen barged through the door and grabbed Khalil, causing Heaven to jump up and drop her ice and the remote.
“Khalil Guyton, you have the right to remain silent, anything you say, can and will be used against you in the court of law!” One officer screamed, as he threw Khalil onto the old hardwood floor and handcuffed him.
“What the fuck did I do? I didn’t do shit!” Khalil screamed, thinking that Heaven had called the cops on him for hitting her. The other officer looked at Heaven’s swollen face and then down at Khalil with disgust before continuing what the other cop had started.
“You’re under arrest for kidnapping and endangerment of a child you stupid son of a bitch. You have the right to an attorney and I strongly suggest that you get one. Let’s go sweetie, get your things, you’re going home,” he said, turning to Heaven, who looked at him perplexed.
“Going where?” Heaven asked, but before he could answer her, Heaven’s father came through the door, looking better than usual and obviously putting on an act.
“There she goes right there, there’s my baby.” He ran up to Heaven swiftly. “Baby, did he hurt you? You okay? I was worried about you… C’mon let’s go home.” Heaven stood in total shock as Khalil cursed him.
“You did this you nasty mothafucka! You better not touch her! Heaven, don’t go with him!” The one cop dragged Khalil outside as he was still cursing Sam, and the other stood next to Heaven and Sam trying to figure out what Khalil was talking about.
“C’mon baby, let’s go home,” Sam repeated, but Heaven stood still wondering what to do. Her head was spinning and she tried to think clearly, and quickly. The last thing she wanted to do was to go home with Sam but even more than that, she didn’t want to end up in some system, even if it was for a couple of months. They’d probably put her in some group home where the girls would be Shaniqua times ten. Heaven didn’t want to fight everyday.
But now, looking at her options, it seemed as if she was going to have to fight either way. Either fight the people wherever she ended up, or fight her daddy every night off of her panties. At least with her daddy, she knew what she was up against. And it wasn’t like she wasn’t used to fighting, shit even here she was used to fighting Khalil at least once a week. Before she could answer, the officer cut her off.
“Listen sweetheart, do you want to talk to me in private? Is everything okay here, you know you can tell me?” Sam became irate with the officer.
“Listen man, I told you everything is okay. This is
my daughter and she’s coming home with me!”
“Wait a minute!” The cop screamed. “What the hell was he talking about then, huh? He just told you not to touch her.” Heaven just looked back and forth between the two arguing men but couldn’t bring herself to say anything; she didn’t even know what to say. Sam continued his act.
“Sir, that man is crazy. He is damn near my age with my underage daughter, abusing her, having sex with her, look officer. Look at her face! You gonna believe anything he says?” Sam asked the cop, with a look of confusion as if he were the caring father. The cop paused before responding. He turned to Heaven.
“Young lady, do you feel comfortable going home, or do you want to come with me?” Heaven looked at the cop with sadness in her eyes, but lied and told him that she wanted to go home with her father.
As she packed up some clothes and her books for school, she thought of all of the things that she was going back to. She desperately wished that she could stay at the apartment. With Khalil gone, she would be able to have some freedom. But since that was clearly not happening, she wondered what lay ahead in her future days.
She dumped toiletries and underwear into plastic Pathmark bags and grabbed a couple of pairs of shoes; she decided to wear her Puma sneakers. She went into the bedroom and looked around for anything else she may have needed. She knew she barely had anything at her father’s house. She grabbed her jean jacket, a couple of pairs of sweats, and a few pairs of jeans, but she left her skirts and dresses because subconsciously in her mind, Heaven was still in fear of turning her father on.
Once she was done gathering her things, she went into Khalil’s stash and took the last $300 he had, and then she headed out of the door after her father and the officer. She pocketed the key, knowing that she may need to use it soon.
As Heaven followed behind her father, a tear that she was trying so hard to conceal found its way down her cheek. Her father held the door for her and they headed out of the building toward the cop car, and just as they were coming out, a familiar face was coming in.
