I stand immediately and go over to her, wrapping my arms around her in a tight hug, which she falls into. Her tears fall to my skin, only making me hug her tighter. Even though I just got into this pack, I feel her pain, making me ache deeply, too.
She pulls away swatting the tears from her eyes then wiping her hand over her face, like they are some pesky gnats or something. “Like I said. I’ll get you something to drink. It will give me something to do.” I nod, accepting that she needs a break and happy that I can give her that small thing.
“I’ve gotta pee. I’ll be right back,” I tell her, moving away from the living room and down the hall.
Three doors down is a large bathroom with several stalls. It’s the communal one that everyone uses when they are anywhere on the main floor together. Twenty stalls line each side with six huge industrial strength sinks in the front as I walk in. I go into the stall and shut the door. Locking it, I sit down and do my business, the nerves of the day weighing heavy on my shoulders.
The door opens and shuts with a click and I breathe in deep. Marissa. Her smell instantly invades my nostrils and my stomach roils. Fucking bitch. She is just like my sisters, always thinking she’s entitled to everything. Stupid.
I do my business quickly and open the stall door, wanting to at least set my eyes on her. Marissa is leaning against the wall with a smug smile adorning her face. Well, this isn’t going to be pretty. She’s itching for something. I move to the sink, washing and drying my hands and ignoring her, but knowing her every breath and movement. Whatever her issue, she’ll talk when she feels like it. If she has the balls.
Unfortunately, she is standing by the wall next to the door and she needs to get the hell out of my way in order for me to leave. I move in front of her and stare her straight in her calculating eyes, giving her a look of my own.
“Move please.” Yep, I go the polite route. I’m not feeding into her. I know she’s pissed and I have no doubt that she’s ready to show me what she’s made of since embarrassing her earlier. I keep my body on alert, just waiting for it.
“Aww. You said please. How cute.” Her hands come up and I know she’s going to try to push against my chest so I sidestep them quickly. She falls a step forward, losing her balance and growling. “I’m going to fucking enjoy this.”
“What, watching me walk out of the bathroom?” I shrug. “Well, whatever floats your boat, I guess.” I keep my eyes focused on her, knowing that she’s not anywhere close to being done yet. She snarls, telling me I’m not wrong. But I can’t help the smartass comments coming out of my mouth. It’s like verbal vomit. And truth be told, a little fun. Well, until her claws come out. Then I won’t be laughing.
“You stupid bitch.” She comes forward just as I land an uppercut that sends her flying to the other side of the bathroom. The crack of her jaw echoes through the space.
“What? This again?” I ask coyly. Nothing like poking the bear…or wolf. I giggle inside at my little joke. Not that this is the time to be laughing at all and I need to watch my back before I end up dead. But if it gets her talking, stalling her and giving me some time, I’m in.
“I take you out, then you all die. Pretty much a sure thing.”
I still at her words. Now what in the hell is this? What the hell is she getting at?
“What do you mean, we all die?” I ask. Thor, get into the bathroom, I tell him through our link.
What’s wrong? he asks.
Marissa is losing her shit and something is really wrong, I reply and turn my attention back to Marissa.
“You are so fucking stupid. My only duty to the Lobos is to rip one of you female’s throats out, then I can be Alpha female. And with your pathetic excuse of a defect, you’re an easy mark,” she growls, coming at me again, this time with claws out and ready. I’m a bit caught off guard this time from what she said and she snags my shirt, slitting a huge hole in the center of it, but I get away, barely.
She doesn’t pause, just comes back again with another swipe, this time getting my jeans. But I lay out a vicious kick to her gut, sending her flying into the wall with a crash. Some tile from the wall falls to the floor with her in dust.
“So, you’ve been working with Lobos?” I ask.
Marissa is lying on the floor, getting back up a little slower than before. Maybe I broke something. One can only hope. I can’t believe this bitch is working with the enemy. And I can’t believe she’s stupid enough to think she’s going to be Alpha of their pack. Surely she’s not that delusional to think that the alpha doesn’t have an actual mate out there.
“Damn right. They knew all about you six before you did.” Marissa comes at me and though I move quickly, I take a slice to the shoulder, the blood leaking down.
Thor! I scream. “How?” I ask her, making my way over to the sinks, leaving myself room to move.
“Heavens, this pack is the stupidest pack ever!” she yells, throwing her hand out exuberantly. Then a catty grin comes across her lips, like she’s proud that she knows information that I should know and don’t. “Camp,” is all she says before lunging at me. I kick out, hitting her straight in the chest and knocking her back into the wall. Never thought I’d be so grateful to my sisters for all the practice over the years.
“Camp?”
Marissa huffs out a huge breath, rising. “Camp has spent a pathetic amount of time researching wolves and he went to Donte with what he found. Camp and Donte did have a common denominator after all. Xavier’s father killed both of their family members. Camp didn’t know who the Barren pack was, but Donte did.” Marissa is seriously losing it. Xavier’s father didn’t kill Camp’s father, the Lobos did. I keep that in and let her keep talking since she’s in the mood, but she comes at me and I dart away. “Donte set his plan into motion and gave Camp the easiest job, to take out Kenly. Instead, he started a media frenzy, giving the wolves’ way too much exposure and failing to come through. He’s lucky he’s still alive. Hell, Alpha is pissed that none of his wolves came through in killing any of the three of you, but he won’t be pissed at me.” She smirks, brushing her hands against her jeans and rising up fully. “I figured I take out the weakest link, you, and everything falls into place.”
She brushes her hands together like it’s a done deal. I suck in all the information that she just gave me because it is seriously a lot. She definitely has enough confidence in herself that she’s going to kill me.
Thor! Marissa is in bed with Lobos. Where in the hell are you?
Two minutes, he thinks. Are you okay?
For right now. My pulse ticks hard and I try to stall some more. “I don’t understand why you would turn on your pack,” I say and she laughs loudly.
“I was supposed to be alpha female of this pack. Me. Not that caged-up freak,” Marissa growls. “Your time is up, story time is over.” She charges toward me, snapping her elongating teeth. I move quickly with an elbow to the ear then a knee to the jaw. She’s back up against the door so I move farther into the room.
My wolf inside is going feral, clawing at the glass box and trying to escape. She slams her head hard and I feel a headache coming on. Not what I need right now, but I don’t have time to make nice with her. I try to suck it back. I’m pretty sure that I may not be leaving this room alive if Marissa fully shifts. Fuck me. That can’t happen. I won’t let them win. I know too much now.
“You fucking bitch!” she screeches.
Fear hits as Marissa shifts into a golden-brown wolf, salvia dripping out of her mouth and down her chin. I have no way out of here. The door is behind her and there are no windows leading out anywhere. I will not give up. I have too much fight in me.
Thor! I hope that he can get here in time. Marissa is in wolf-form and going to kill me. You need to get here now! Even through our link I’m sure he can feel my fear and anger.
At that moment, Marissa pounces hard, pushing me onto my back with a loud thud. Her claws dig into my flesh, but I kick, hit, and elbow as hard as I can, tryi
ng to fight back and landing some pretty good blows. My wolf is so fucking angry. She’s beyond angry, something I’ve never seen from her before. She snarls and chomps, banging her head on the glass, willing herself out. I will her out, too, with all my might, but each time she bangs her head, piercing pain slices through mine. I try not to let it throw me off any more since I’m already at a disadvantage.
Marissa swipes again, this time her teeth coming down as well, but I move my head before she gets a bite of my flesh. She backs off just enough to knock me down and then stands on my chest, her claws pressing in with her weight. Well, hell. I’ve been here before and the only reason last time ended with me in one piece was because Thor smelled me. But there is no sign of him and I’m too pumped to even try to listen to whatever is in my head except survival. I must survive. I have to survive.
I hit and elbow the wolf in the face with all my might, but her claws dig deeper into my chest. Each agonizing centimeter, I scream out in pain, unable to help myself. Maybe one of the other wolves can hear me. I yell again, louder, hoping that I’ll be able to get just a little bit of help. If I could just get her off of me then I could fight back.
I pull my legs up and try to get them under the wolf’s torso, but each kick does nothing and my strength is going quickly with the loss of blood. I continue giving it all I have and I will dammit, until my last dying breath.
My wolf inside hits the glass harder as shards of pain enter my head matching the intensity of what is happening to my chest.
In that moment, something happens. My body begins to change, so quickly that when I look up Marissa is clear across the room, her wolf eyes wide. And I land on the ground on all fours. Holy shit! I shifted! I shake out my coat, taking just a moment to enjoy the feel of my fur. Just a moment, that is.
I pounce on Marissa, letting my wolf take over the fight. She’s never had this before and her feet falter a couple of times, but she regains herself. And we attack. I swipe with my fierce claws, drawing blood and yelps from Marissa. She does the same back and it is an all-out brawl. Her and me. Only one of us is getting out of here alive.
As much fun as it is finally being my wolf, I need to end this shit. Now. I charge Marissa hard, open my jaw wide, and bite down on her throat, feeling the warmth of her blood coat my teeth. Damn, that’s good. Her claws continue to cut my furry flesh, but I don’t release my grip on her. The fight slowly wanes in her and she falls limp to the ground. But my wolf is nowhere near done. She feels it’s time for her to play and I agree. I tear and rip Marissa’s throat then begin to play with her carcass.
Humans would find this disgusting, but I’ve always wanted to do it, never having the opportunity to. The pride in one’s first kill—not to mention all the information I got from her very loose tongue—lends to a euphoria I’ve never felt before. Hell yes! I tear, growl, and throw her around the bathroom. Her blood covers the tiled floor, but my big paws keep me upright; no doubt, if I was in human-form I’d be slipping on it, there is so much.
I toss her body against the wall and it falls back down on the ground in a heap. The door flies open and I turn to it, growling. No one gets my kill but me dammit. She’s mine. Mine to play with.
“What the hell?” Thor says, and I instantly fall back on my haunches, the smell of my mate taming the wolf inside.
Hi, I think to him shyly. If I were in human-form, I’m pretty sure that would have come with a jaunty wave and small wink. I mean, I did kill someone and got caught in the process.
“Sabrea?” he questions coming farther into the room with Max, Xavier, and their mates on his tail. I shake my snout, getting out the leftover pieces of Marissa. She’s not tasting so good anymore. I walk slowly up to Thor and rub my jet black fur against his leg. He reaches down and rubs my back. If I could purr like a kitten I would. “Hey, baby. So you shifted?” he says, bending down, getting eye-to-eye.
I nod my head and give a small bark.
“And Marissa got the short end of the stick?”
She’s a traitor! She was supposed to take me out. Camp is in bed with Lobos because he thinks Xavier’s father killed his family.
Fuck, he says to me. “Marissa was the rat; she was feeding info to the Lobos. She intended on killing Sabrea.” He turns to X. “Camp thinks your father killed his family.”
“Fucking hell,” Xavier says. “You need help handling this?” he asks Thor, pointing to me and the mess.
“Fuck. I don’t know.” His golden eyes turn to mine. “Can you change back?”
I whimper. I don’t want to change back. If I do I may not ever be able to change to wolf again. I really don’t like that feeling. Matter of fact, I hate it. Seriously hate it. I want to be a wolf for a while. Just a while. What if I never feel her fur again or—
“You need to shift for me, Sabrea. I’d rather have you as human than take off on me. I can’t be without you.” Thor’s words hit me in the gut. I don’t want to be without him either.
I lie on the cold floor and whimper. I hate this shit. I search in my mind for the purple light. Finding it, I immediately walk through. When I open my eyes, tears are falling down my face and Thor has me wrapped up in his arms, covering my bloodied and bruised naked body. Not that I’m ashamed by it. It just feels nice to have someone to comfort me.
“It’s all right, baby.” He rocks me like a small child and I cling on to him for dear life. At this moment, he’s my lifeline and I grip him hard, letting him know that. “I’m proud of you,” he whispers in my hair, kissing the top of my head.
Thor picks me up and carries me out of the room. “Mal, get Marissa out of there,” he orders walking me down the hall. I close my eyes, letting the tears fall. Doors open and shut, grumbles from the other wolves and hate for Marissa fill the space, but I keep my eyes closed wanting to tune everyone and everything out. Fear envelops me. What if I never shift again?
The sound of water fills the space and I instantly go on alert, my memory kicking in. “The waterfall,” I gasp as Thor pulls me underneath the warm spray of water. If there is no water, why are we in the shower?
“It’s all right. We have reserves and right now I need to get you cleaned up.”
I look down to my blood-covered body and my stomach churns. It needs to be washed off, now. I grab the bar of soap and begin to scrub myself as Thor enters the shower. He takes the bar and begins washing me. He starts at my head, running my hair underneath the water until it comes back clear instead of red or pink.
He massages me as he cleans all the blood from my skin. I reach out to the tiled wall, needing some support as his touch ignites me. The high from my first kill is still there and when he touches me like this, it only makes me want more. And more. My stomach flutters with each of his caresses, every one taking me from horny to uncontrollable. My breathing comes in short pants as my clit throbs. Holy. Shit. The desire burns so brightly that it’s all I can see.
Thor
SABREA’S BODY SWAYS into mine as I wash her top to toe, getting that bitch Marissa off of her and down the drain where that traitorous slut belongs. I know that Xavier wants to question her, but I need her. Badly, need her. Seeing her change was the best fucking wet dream and if it weren’t for her reaction to having changed and killed, I’d have taken her right there.
My hard cock rests on her pert ass and she begins to rub herself up and down on it, her globes massaging me. I have yet to stick my dick in her ass, but that will happen soon. I will claim every part of my mate. Not now, but soon.
Gripping her ample tits, I pull her back into my body and press my mouth to her ear. “Need me to fuck you?”
She mewls, grinding against me harder, her hands holding the tiles like the damn things would fall off the wall if she were to let go of them. Her head lolls, falling forward like she doesn’t have the strength to hold it up. With all this shit going down, I haven’t gotten to fuck her nearly enough for a newly mated couple. After this shit is over, I’m locking her ass in a room and fucking he
r from sun up to sun down and in-be-fucking-tween.
“I need to fuck you, too,” I say, answering my own question and propping her leg up on the little ledge of the shower, opening her pretty pink pussy wide. I’d love a fucking taste, but no time for that. No time for anything but I’m taking it. Seeing her beauty is one thing, seeing her beauty as a kick ass wolf is another. Her fur glistened as she fought down her animalistic urge of wanting to play with her kill. It’s fucking hard to do that shit, but when she saw me, she was able to tune that down.
“Yes,” she moans loudly. The word echoes off the walls, the heat of the shower only stoking the flame between us.
I bend my legs, and plow into her, not giving her body a second to adjust to my dick. Fuck that. She needs to feel this shit, the good and the pain.
“Oh!” she screams, but it’s not in agony.
I pump my hips, pushing in and out of her tight flesh, her pussy sucking me in deeper with each thrust. Even on one foot, she moves with me, bucking her hips up and down and giving rolls that make me quiver. Over and over and over again.
Sabrea is all I will ever need. All I will ever want. She is it for me. When I got her plea through our link earlier, I was at the waterfall checking things out. I stopped immediately, calling everyone, but still, I couldn’t get to her fast enough. My heart pounded so hard at the thought of losing her. I can’t lose her. I won’t.
Fuck. She feels too damn good. So right.
Her pussy clamps onto my dick each time I pull out, making it difficult to fully do.
“Thor!” she screams as she pushes back against me hard, slamming our bodies together with a punishing sound. I fucking love that. I bang into her harder, being careful not to hit her head against the shower, so hard her knee threatens to give out. I wrap my arm around her waist to hold her upright. As she wraps her arms around my neck, arching her back, her breasts sticking out as the water cascades over us. With two more delicious thrusts, I come. Hard. Deep. Powerful.
