The Alpha Pack Page 23

“So everything went well with your omega?” Johnson asked as they walked into the assembly room and claimed a desk near the front. It sounded like the words had been dragged out of him and he couldn’t care less what Max answered.

“Just perfect,” Max replied. Johnson was saved from having to make further small talk when their chief walked into the room and stepped behind the podium.

Leaning back, Max crossed his arms over his chest and tried not to look too pleased with himself. He listened as the chief talked about the various cases they were working on, offering encouragement and reproachment to do better in equal measure. When the chief handed him and Johnson a folder of witnesses they needed to interview a second time, he didn’t even grimace—despite the fact that the assignment was obviously a punishment for having the temerity to take a day off for an omega.

“This is shit,” Johnson grumbled as they got up, low enough that only Max could hear. Max just grinned.

“It’s fine. Besides, if we get any new leads we can follow them up ourselves.”

  Johnson perked up at that.

“Who did the first round of interviews?” he asked, reaching for the file and opening it up before Max could answer. “Callahan and Davenport,” he mumbled to himself, a barely there smile landing on his face.

Max knew why he was happy. Callahan and Davenport were terrible interrogators, acting like even friendly witnesses needed to be intimidated and bullied during questioning.

There was no way they’d gotten everything; hence the second round of interviews.

Heading out to the parking lot, Max let Johnson take the wheel as they got into their cruiser.

It felt like it was going to be a good day.

  ***

Though Max was in a good mood throughout the morning, there was still shit that required his attention. Specifically, finding out what was up with the alpha that had harassed Sam on campus.

“Hey, I’m going to head off. I’ve got a thing I need to deal with. Meet you back at the station at two?”

Johnson gave him a look like he couldn’t believe Max was taking a two-hour lunch, but he didn’t object.

“Sure. Whatever,” he said, his expression sour. “You need a ride?”

Max shook his head. “Nah, I’m good. Thanks though.”

“Whatever,” Johnson said, looking down at his notes as Max got out of the car.

They were just a few blocks away from the campus, and as he walked Max texted both Logan and Aiden to see if either of them were free to meet him. Logan texted back right away.

  In class. Important?

Aiden’s text arrived a second later.

  Sure. Where?

Max texted Logan never mind, then called Aiden and asked to meet him at the student union building.

“Sure. I’ll be there in five minutes. What’s going on?” Aiden asked. It sounded like he was in a crowd, and Max had a hard time hearing him.

“I’ll tell you when I see you,” Max said, hanging up. He sped up a little, hardly noticing the way people jumped out of his way like he would arrest them—or worse—for standing in his way.

  He was used to it.

  ***

  Aiden

Aiden packed his bag, trying not to be too worried. He hadn’t done anything to bring the wrath of Max down on his head, so whatever the older alpha wanted, it probably wasn’t to punishing him.

  He hoped.

Walking toward the student union building, he arrived just in time to see Max turning the corner and stride toward him. He gave the other alpha a little wave and received a tight smile in return.

“Aiden, thanks for meeting me,” Max said, clapping his shoulder.

“No problem. What can I help you with?” Aiden looked up at Max, feeling very short and very small by the way he had to crane his neck to see Max’s face. He rarely stood this close to the older alpha, and it was a little disconcerting.

“Is there anywhere we can talk in private?” Max asked, dropping his hand and stepping back. He grabbed ahold of his belt as he waited for Aiden’s reply, looking every inch the intimidating officer.

“We can see if one of the study rooms here is available,” Aiden said, nodding toward the student union building. The study rooms there were hardly ever occupied due to the crappy Wi-Fi and better facilities at the library down the street.

Max nodded, and Aiden led the way into the building. Unsurprisingly, the beta in charge of checking student ID cards didn’t object when Max marched past her, letting him and Aiden head toward the study rooms without a word.

“In here?” Aiden asked, gesturing at the first available room. It had windows looking out into the hall, but you could close the door and have a private conversation without any problems.

“Sure,” Max said, following Aiden inside.

Taking a seat, Aiden gulped when Max remained standing. Suddenly the room felt more like an interrogation chamber than a study room. Max crossed his arms, leaning against the door and blocking the exit.

“Are you going to sit down?” Aiden asked, making his voice light and amused. Max gave a start, and Aiden breathed out.

Max hadn’t been trying to make him nervous on purpose.

“Yeah, sorry. Habit,” Max said, sitting down in the chair on the other side of the little table. “I just wanted to touch base with you and hear more about this alpha that was bothering Sam.”

Aiden shrugged, not sure what there was to say.

“Lucas Evans?” Aiden licked his lips, caught off guard but knowing he shouldn’t be. Of course Max would be concerned that someone had crossed the line with his omega.

Max nodded, and Aiden revised his opinion. Max wasn’t concerned. He was pissed.

“He’s harmless,” Aiden said, shrugging. “He’s got a rich dad and a big mouth.”

Max’s mouth went flat and tight, his eyes narrowing in anger.

“A big mouth?” he asked, his voice hard. “What does that mean?”

  Aiden swallowed, feeling nervous again.

“I don’t know. He says things. You know how those Humans First people are.”

“Tell me about the first time you ran into him,” Max said. He leaned back in his chair, getting comfortable like he expected to be there a while. Aiden squirmed.

The thirty minutes that followed were some of the most uncomfortable of his life. Max forced him to relay every encounter he could remember having with Lucas Evans, and for every incident and slur he repeated, he could feel Max judging him for how he’d reacted.

“And you just walked away?” Max asked, his lip curling up in a sneer after Aiden finished telling him about his most recent encounter.

“Well what the fuck should I have done, huh?” he growled back. Max’s judgment got to him far more than anything Lucas Evans’s had ever said to him.

“You deal with him,” Max growled right back, pounding his fist in the table. “Or you call me and I do it for you.”

Aiden flushed, hating how inadequate he felt. Then he gave himself a mental shake and pushed the feeling away.

He wasn’t a caveman. There was nothing wrong with taking the high road.

“Lucas is a bully, and if he ever crossed the line I would have dealt with it.”

“Except you didn’t,” Max shot back. “He fucked with our omega and you did nothing.”

Aiden grit his teeth and looked away, wondering if Max was right. When he’d found out about what Lucas had done he’d been angry, but it hadn’t occurred to him to do anything about it.

“So what do you suggest?” he asked, still not looking at Max.

“I’ll deal with it.” Max’s chair made a scraping sound as he got up. “You just stay away from him.”

Aiden nodded, turning his head just enough that he could look at Max out of the corner of his eye. The cop was standing by the door, looking conflicted.

“What?” Aiden asked. He’d never felt like less of an alpha.

“You need to talk to David about
your major. Tell him you’re not going to go work for some anti-mining environmental charity or something.”

Aiden blinked, his head swinging around so that he could look Max right in the face.

“What?” he asked, shocked. Max sighed, pinching the bridge of his nose with exasperation.

“You can’t have seriously think that David doesn’t know what you want to study,” he said, giving Aiden another look like he was the dumbest man to ever live. “Or Logan, for that matter.”

Aiden was shocked. He really thought that David had bought that he was undeclared and undecided.

“I don’t…” he didn’t know what to say.

“Go talk to him. He’ll be reasonable if you explain what you want and that you don’t want to work against him. Going behind his back like this is only going to make him paranoid.”

Max gave him a sympathetic look, nodding once before ducking out of the room. Aiden watched him go, wondering what in the world he was supposed to do now.

After ten minutes of sitting there thinking about it, he was none the wiser.

  Sam

Sitting in the back of the car while Hunter acted the mute chauffeur gave Sam a severe sense of déjà vu. The alpha was even wearing the same leather gloves he’d worn the last time they were in the car together, though his suit was different.

“How long will we be at work?” Sam asked, looking at Hunter’s face through the rearview mirror. The alpha glanced at him, his mouth set in a stern line.

“Until I’m done for the day. Now please be quiet.”

Sam took a deep breath. The last time he’d been in a car with Hunter he’d been scared half out of his mind. This time he wasn’t even nervous. If he could go through a whole day with Max—and enjoy it—then anything Hunter threw at him would be a piece of cake.

He was curious though. Hunter had been weird when he claimed him—his thrusts frantic and uncontrolled—and he’d kept his gloves on like a crazy person.

“What will I do while you’re working?” he asked. Hunter’s lip curled in something that almost looked like a smile, no answer making its way out of his mouth. Sam lifted his eyebrows, looking down. “Never mind,” he mumbled.

When they made it to Hunter’s office, Sam waited just inside the door as Hunter shrugged off his coat and put his briefcase on his desk. He didn’t take of his gloves, the shiny black leather a stark contrast to his crisp, white shirt.

“Come here,” he said, walking next to the huge armchair behind his desk. Sam moved toward him, wondering what Hunter was planning. When he got within reach of the alpha, Hunter grabbed his arm and crouched down, pulling Sam with him.

“What’s going on?” Sam asked, watching as Hunter reached out and touched a latch in the back of the chair and pushed it down.

“I told you to be quiet,” Hunter said, not looking at him as the back of the chair opened up like a door to expose a compartment within.

  Sam was confused.

“What’s that?” he asked, but rather than answer, Hunter grabbed a hold of him and started lifting him into the compartment face first.

Sam was too startled to struggle.

Hunter manhandled him into place, laying him on his back and moving him around until he had him where he wanted him. Sam could feel a whole mess of straps and cuffs digging into his back, neck and shoulders, which he quickly realized Hunter would use to tie him in place.

“Lie still,” Hunter growled when Sam tried to wriggle away from the Leather belt he was trying to fasten over his throat. Sam did as he was told, letting Hunter buckle him in without resistance.

The strap lay snug against his Adam’s apple, and he could feel it digging into his throat when he swallowed.

“How long will I be in here?” he asked as Hunter started strapping down his chest and waist. Hunter grunted, and Sam rolled his eyes.

Would it kill the alpha to communicate?

Giving up on trying to get an Answer out of Hunter, Sam wondered what the point of the chair was. It seemed weird to put a bondage cage inside a piece of furniture like this.

Did Hunter not want anyone to know he had Sam tied up in his office?

As he wondered what was going on, Sam looked up at the ceiling through an oval hole in the roof of the compartment. It struck him suddenly that the hole had to be right in the middle of the seat cushion.

Would he be spending the day staring up at Hunter’s ass? The idea wasn’t entirely unappealing.

Hunter ran his gloved finger under the straps over Sam’s chest and abdomen to make sure they weren’t too tight, and then lifted his legs and cuffed them so that they were parallel to the backrest.

The whole thing was bizarre. Sam’s ass was now on full display, or it would have been if not for the fact that he was still fully dressed.

Had Hunter forgotten to get him naked in his rush to get him tied up?

Sam hoped so. If he was going to be tied up, the least Hunter could do was knot him to make it worth his while.

“Good boy,” Hunter said, startling Sam. He couldn’t lift his head to see the expression on his alpha’s face, though the gruff quality of his voice told Sam that he was aroused.

Sam’s thoughts were interrupted by what sounded like a crank being turned, and the next thing he knew his whole body was being lifted up toward the hole over his face.

Hunter didn’t stop raising him up until his face was pushing through the hole.

Satisfied with Sam’s position, Hunter closed the back of the chair and left Sam staring up at the ceiling. The hole fit his face perfectly, completing Sam’s immobilization.

Even in the position he was in, it wasn’t until Hunter’s suit-clad ass was moving toward his face that Sam realized what the alpha had planned.

He was going to sit on him.

A second later Hunter’s tight bubble butt landed on the lower part of Sam’s face, his ass pressed into Sam’s mouth, Sam’s nose nestled into the gap between his muscular thighs.

Though he was able to breathe in through his nose, the scent of Hunter’s crotch was overwhelming. It smelled like body wash and alpha, and Sam felt himself get hard despite the weird position he was in.

This was fine, Sam thought to himself. Hunter was letting him breathe, and the bottom of the compartment he was in was well padded. He wasn’t in any pain, nor was he even that uncomfortable.

He waited to see what Hunter had planned next.

Except… nothing happened. Hunter booted up his computer and opened up his briefcase, and as far as Sam could tell, started working.

Half an hour passed before Sam realized that this was it. Hunter was content to just sit on him, not even jerking off—though Sam could feel the length of the alpha’s cock against his nose.

“Hunter?” Sam asked, his voice muffled by the alpha’s ass.

“Are you safewording?” Hunter asked. He scooted back and spread his legs, looking down at Sam with a stern expression.

Sam took a moment to think it over.

“No,” he said at last. He wasn’t in pain, he just wanted to know what was going on.

“Then no talking. You’re my chair. Chair’s don’t talk.”

Sam would have laughed if it weren’t for the deadly serious expression on Hunter’s face. Instead he just looked up at his alpha, realizing that he had severely underestimated how kinky he was.

Before Sam had a chance to say anything else, Hunter scooted forward, once again sitting down on Sam’s face.

There was nothing that Sam could do but wait.

  ***

Though Sam initially figured he’d be bored, after a while he started feeling the same kind of floaty, hazy feeling he felt when Max hurt him.

There was just something about Hunter using him like this—sitting on him and ignoring him completely—that made him feel both vaguely humiliated and good.

He wasn’t sure he liked it—though he also wasn’t sure that he didn’t. It was so different from anything t
hat had been done to him so far that he didn’t know quite how to feel about it.

“Okay, come on,” Hunter said, his voice strangely tender. Sam blinked, surprised to find Hunter unstrapping the cuffs holding him in place and pulling him out of the chair.
