The author did study law enforcement and criminal law as an undergraduate at Texas A &M and graduated with honors with a BS in psychology. She has an MS as well and stopped her endless college courses a few hours short of a PhD with interests in Ethical Psychology and Criminal Psychology.
The location of the town in Arkansas is also fictional, but there is undoubtedly a big house off the beaten track with plenty of skeletons, not in the closet but hidden under the house in the soil. One can identify this house by the delicious well water running through the pipes.
