Sprawling and shuddering from the shock, he heard a ripple of giggles overhead. Brianna, no longer in her targar form and riding on one herself, was grinning impishly at him. Everyone else, even Bo, broke into laughter.

Blushing, he let the nameless targar take him. Sedate and reserved, yet it seemed to know his thoughts and glided quietly ahead of the others.

“Teilo, I thought you’d been killed,” said Brianna.

“That’s not so easy, Brianna.” Teilo grinned, gazing down at the targar he was riding.

“Is she alright now?” Brianna spoke as if she knew the targar Teilo was riding.

Teilo’s face beamed up. “Couldn’t be better. A real fighter Yuna is.”

“Where are we going, Teilo?” asked Dad.

“The top of Mount Tarata. Professor Nandalff is waiting for you all there.”

“What about Mum?” put in Bo, looking anxious.

Looking over his shoulder, for a moment, Dad looked troubled and distant.

The lofty cliff was shrinking rapidly from sight, yet the sprawling New Temple of Justice on top of it, with its two towers pointing upright, looked formidable and foreboding, nonetheless.

“We’ll come back for her and the land of Taron, we must and we will,” said Dad.

CORAL WALKER was born and raised in China. She holds a BSc in Computer Engineering, an MSc in Computing and a PhD in Computer Science.

From a young age, she loved drawing and making stories. One of her favourite pastimes was to draw faces on her fingernails. Wiggling the fingers to make them come alive, she would tell their stories. It helped her endure the boredom of lessons and get through the school day.

Fully grown now, a wife and the mother of three, in her heart she has changed little — still she is that wisp of a school girl, with characters on her fingers and stories in her head.
