“Okay, this is what we have,” Trev said. “Ivan has a surplus he wants unloaded because there’s eyes on him. Our middleman ensures safe delivery and is willing to take on any and all threats that come. The deal goes down, Ivan walks away, and then Night Soul gets their supply.”
“So just let Night Soul get the supply,” Max said. “Then we attack them.”
“No,” Jasper said. “We can do better. They want a buyer? We find a buyer. Cut out the middleman.”
“I’m going to kill the middleman,” I said.
“Easy now,” Trev said. “First things first. I’m getting prospects here to watch the house, Kye. I don’t want Dakota or that woman with her leaving. Everyone stays. Everyone is safe. Got that?”
“Done,” I said.
“Second up, I got a call from Duke.”
“Shit,” I said. “Tell me something good here.”
“They got the driver of the car. It’s not who we want, but it’s who is going to tell us who we want.”
I put the empty beer bottle down. “Then let’s move. Right now.”
I felt Jasper grab me. Then Max. Then Cash. They all grabbed my arms, keeping me still and steady. I stared forward and Trev closed in on me.
“I’m sorry to do this,” Trev said. “You gave up the cut, brother. All I can offer is protection. This is club business.”
“This is my business,” I said. “Don’t fucking do this to me, Prez. You and I both know…”
“Kye,” Trev said. “Club fucking business.”
I felt anger and rage surge through my body. I pulled at my arms and managed to break the hold of my brothers holding me. I went chest to chest with Trev. I grabbed at his shirt, knowing I was taking my life into my own hands. I went nose to nose with my President.
“What do you have to say?” Trev asked.
“I want to see it,” I said. “I want to be there. I have to be there. I deserve it.”
“You deserve it?” Trev asked. “You gave up the cut.”
“Goddammit…”
“Get your hands off me, Kye,” Trev said. “Right fucking now.”
I let Trev go and backed up.
Jasper and Cash grabbed me, pulling me back and out of the way. I didn’t fight back. They were just doing their job by protecting their President.
Trev fixed his shirt and tugged at his leather cut. “Okay. This is how we do it. Duke and Trent are taking our new friend to an old place. I’ll lead. You all follow me. That includes you, Kye. Make sure you’re on your motorcycle. Enough with the four wheels.”
I nodded.
The guys went out front and I went back inside. I stopped at the living room and saw Dakota on the floor with Ellis. My family.
“What?” Dakota asked.
I went to her, crouching, kissing her lips and kissing Ellis’s head.
“I have to go,” I said. “I have to take care of something.”
I saw the fear in Dakota’s eyes. I saw it all wash over her. But she also understood what it meant now. What the club meant to me. What the club meant to our family.
“Be careful,” she said as I stood up.
“I’ll be home soon. I promise.”
With that, I left my house and rejoined my brotherhood.
I wasn’t wearing a leather cut but it felt good to ride… free…
**
I swung and hit him in the jaw. I stumbled to the left and almost fell over. The chair started to tip but Max was there to hold it steady. The guy had been tuned up enough already, now we were just picking him apart for the hell of it. He knew his fate by fucking with the MC.
“You shot at my old lady,” I said. “My son was in the backseat of that car.”
“I wasn’t going to hurt anyone,” the guy said. His license ID’ed him as Jeff. He worked in security and ironically, he was the one in dire need of it right then. “I was just sending a warning.”
“From your client,” Jasper said.
“Yes,” Jeff said.
“Who is the client?” Cash asked.
“I can’t tell you,” Jeff said.
“That’s it,” Cash said. He stood up. “Open his mouth.”
Max grabbed Jeff’s hair and pulled. Using his left hand, he forced Jeff’s mouth open. Jeff screamed and kicked, but he had no way of getting out the mess he was in.
“What are you going to do?” I asked Cash.
Cash grabbed between his legs. “I’m going to stuff my dick down his throat until he talks.”
“Oh, shit,” Trev said.
“He’s not lying,” I said to Jeff. I put a hand to Jeff’s shoulder. “And not that I’m the kind of guy that goes that way, but Cash… he’s hung. This is going to hurt.”
Jeff shook his head and wrestled with Max’s hand. He bit down as Cash started to unzip his fly. Jeff then bit Max.
“Fuck!” Max screamed.
Max jumped back and took out his gun.
“No!” Jasper yelled.
Max came down with his gun, cracking it against the top of Jeff’s skull. He then threw the chair back, letting Jeff hit the floor. Max put a foot to Jeff’s chest and pointed the gun at him.
“Either talk or I shoot you,” Max said.
“Or we can do it this way,” I said with a laugh.
“Shoot him, Max,” Trev called out. “Enough of this shit.”
“Wait!” Jeff yelled. “Wait… I can’t tell you… maybe you can find out.”
I crouched down. “Start talking, asshole,” I said.
Fuck, it felt good to be back in it again. Actually accomplishing something. Not just changing oil on a car or changing brake pads. I was part of the MC again. Even if I didn’t have my leather cut on.
“Okay, okay,” Jeff said. He coughed and spit a glob of blood out of his mouth. “I… I took the job. All cash. No receipts. I knew it was a risk. He’s in my phone. Okay? You can take my phone. Listed under the contact of eighty-six.”
“Get his phone,” Trev ordered.
Max dropped and got the phone. He tossed it to Trev. When Trev opened the phone he pressed a few buttons and smiled.
“So that’s our guy… Nelson.”
I stood up and turned. “What was that?”
Trev tossed the phone to Cade. Cade took out some kind of tablet thing and started plugging in information.
“Holy shit,” Cade said.
“What?” I asked.
“Nelson,” Cade said. “Our Nelson.”
“Our Nelson?” Trev asked.
Cade spun the tablet around and I was staring at the face of an old friend.
A man we all once considered a brother.
A man who had the chance to walk away from the club without getting killed… because of my vote. I wouldn’t vote him dead.
And now he was attacking Back Down Devil MC.
I felt numb.
The voices in the room started to fade.
I looked around the room.
Everyone was talking.
I looked at Max.
The gun in his hand.
I lunged for the weapon and quickly twisted it out of his hand.
Jasper let out a loud yell.
Maybe they thought I was going to take care of Max. Maybe they thought I had lost my damn mind.
I instead looked down at Jeff.
“You don’t fuck with my club,” I said.
“You said you wouldn’t kill me!” he yelled.
“No,” I said. “Max said he wouldn’t kill you.”
I looked at Trev. I awaited the approval of my President.
It took Trev two seconds to give his answer.
I slowly nodded.
I didn’t even look when I pulled the trigger.
The room fell silent.
I gave the gun back to Max.
I then walked to the door and opened it, leaving the garage at the back of the lot where the clubhouse was.
“Kye!” Trev yelled.
I looked back. “Yeah?”
/> “Table. Five minutes. We have to have a talk.”
I nodded.
I knew what the talk was going to be about.
Whether I’d get my cut back or not.
**
“What we learned tonight we tuck away,” Trev said to me.
It was just me and him at the table.
My leather cut was still draped over the back of my chair. I stood at the table, not allowed to sit. It wasn’t my right to sit there. It wasn’t even my right to be in the room. But Trev invited me, and there I stood.
“You understand me?” Trev asked.
“Loud and clear, Prez,” I said. “But you need to know there’s a history with that guy.”
“We have a history with everyone,” Trev said. “One thing at a time here though, Kye. I want to talk about the cut.”
I felt my stomach tie up in a big knot. “Okay.”
“What you did tonight. That wasn’t part of the club. That wasn’t part of my order. You acted alone on that. Without a cut.”
“You’re right,” I said. “That’s exactly what I did.”
“We could vote you dead for that,” Trev said.
“I know,” I said. “But when my family is threatened… I attack. That asshole followed Dakota twice. He followed me once. He tried to hurt my family.”
“That he did.”
“I won’t apologize, Prez. Not for that. If I disrespected you, then I’ll apologize for that…”
Trev put up a hand. “Kye. It’s simple. We’re a family. Your girl, your son, they’re all part of this. I’m sorry Dakota’s father was killed in an old war. She has to know by now that’s not how things are done today.”
“She knows,” I said. “That’s why I’m here.”
“You’re ready to wear the cut again?”
“I’m always ready to wear the cut,” I said. “You know why I had to do this, Prez.”
Trev pushed his chair back. He then walked toward the other empty chairs at the table. He planted a firm grip to Cash’s chair.
“We took a vote already,” Trev said. “To decide what we should do. I put myself at risk by letting you walk away, knowing you’d be back. It could make me look weak. But I never give a fuck about what people think. I never have, Kye. I ran with outlaws. I ran with the lost men. I’ve done whatever I wanted. But for this…” Trev started to walk, touching all the chairs one by one. “This was a club decision.”
At the end of the table, Trev moved to the door and pounded on it.
A second later the door opened and in came all the guys. They didn’t go to their seats though. They just stood at the back of the room, all lined up, all eyes on me.
“Kye, let me ask you something,” Trev said. “If someone in the club did what you did… what would you vote?”
“If their intentions were the same as mine,” I said, “I’d vote him back in. Because if someone felt the way I felt… the passion for my family and for my club. Knowing you’d die for all your brothers. For your old lady. For your kid. Nothing can stop me. What I did… I didn’t leave you guys. I had to step away for my family. I knew I’d be back. And I’m here. If you vote me away then I’ll stay away. But I’ll never stop being an outlaw. It’s who I am. It’s in my blood.”
Trev stood in front of the guys. He pointed to me. “Pick up that leather cut.”
I grabbed my cut off the chair.
“Put the fucking thing on, Kye,” Trev said with a grin.
“Yeah?” I asked.
“Fuck yeah,” Jasper said. “We get it, brother. We get it all. Now put on your cut and remember who your family is.”
I wasted no time in putting the cut back on.
The entire room erupted in cheers for me. I couldn’t help myself as I walked toward them all. I ended up in the biggest and weirdest hug of my life, the entire group of us together.
Trev broke it up with a whistle. “We’re going to find this guy. I’ll pull intel with Cade and when the time is right, we strike. But before that, we have to be strategic. We have to try and appease our Russian comrades before we do anything crazy.”
“How do we do that?” Cash asked.
“We figure it out and vote on it,” Jasper said.
“Not tonight though,” Trev said. “Let me get all the intel and facts straight.”
Trev grabbed for the door and opened it. With one nod, any notion of talking about Nelson, Ivan, and Night Soul were done.
Everyone started to leave.
I stopped at Trev grabbed his shoulder. “Thank you, Prez.”
“It’s your spot,” he said. “Your cut. Your club. Remember that.”
“I have to get back to my other family now.”
“Sure thing,” Trev said. “Prospects will be there all night. You’re safe. Just keep your head on straight.”
I went to the clubhouse and stood there in the middle of the floor. I looked around.
It was home to me.
A second home. A different version of home.
My real home was with Dakota and Ellis.
And that’s where I needed to go.
**
Debbie was sleeping on the couch. Two prospects were in the driveway, where they’d stay all night. Others were cruising around Daurian, just keeping their eyes open. I took to the stairs and went to Ellis’s room. I found the crib empty and figured that wasn’t all that big of a shock.
In the master bedroom Dakota was there with Ellis sleeping peacefully on her chest.
I entered the room, wearing my leather cut.
I saw the look on her face.
“It’s done?” she asked.
“It’s done,” I said. “I got my cut back. For good, darling. You know that, right?”
“I know,” Dakota said.
“Is everything okay with Ellis?”
“Yeah. I didn’t want to be alone.”
“Everything is okay,” I said. “We have to protect outside the house and around town.”
“Who was it?” Dakota asked.
I approached the bed and reached for my son. I peeled him off her chest and cradled him.
“You don’t want to know anything,” I said.
“Maybe I do.”
“The guy who shot at you will never be able to do that again,” I said.
I turned and walked away.
I knew how much the club stuff got to Dakota, but if she wanted the truth, she had it now. Nobody was going to pull a gun on my woman and my son and get away with it.
Simple as that.
I placed Ellis down in his crib and the baby didn’t move. He was out cold.
It brought a smile to my face. Knowing his innocence was in my care. I’d do everything in my power to keep his innocence safe.
I leaned down and kissed Ellis’s warm head. “I love you, son. I love you so much.”
I returned to the master bedroom to find Dakota standing just a few steps in the doorway. She was in a silk robe, her hands at her sides. I quietly shut the door behind me.
“Are you pissed at me?” I asked.
“Would that matter to you?”
I smiled. “No. I’m done fucking around, Dakota. I have my family and I have my club. Nothing else matters. Anyone that stands in my way will go down. End of discussion.”
Dakota touched the robe. With one pull of her right hand, she opened the rope. A second later, it fell to the floor. She was naked.
Completely naked.
Standing like a wild dream in front of my outlaw eyes. Her full breasts, hanging, waiting for my touch. The natural curve of her hips. The way her body was beautifully shaped drove me wild. The smoothness of her sex, her legs slightly parted, her slit right there, all for my taking.
I stepped forward and placed my hands to her hips. “I love you, Dakota. I want you to know that.”
“I love you too, Kye,” she said back to me. “Now protect me. Love me. Make me feel safe.”
I slipped my right hand between her legs. The tips of my fin
gers grazed her wet folds. I thrust my middle forward and pressed against her tender slit.
“Fuck, darling,” I growled. “So wet already, huh?”
“What are you going to do about it?” Dakota teased me.
“Simple,” I said.
I took my hand away and I grabbed at my jeans. With one hand I tore open my belt buckle and my jeans. I shoved them down so my cock could pop free. I then grabbed Dakota by her firm and beautiful ass and lifted her up. I spun her around and pinned her against the bedroom door.
Dakota let out a groaning cry as my mouth began to kiss her sweet neck. I kissed up to her mouth and thrust my tongue into her mouth. Her hands clawed at my leather cut as I rubbed my shaft along her pussy. I then bent my knees, reached between my legs, and lined myself up to fuck her. I lifted and pressed, entering Dakota.
“Fuck,” Dakota whispered as our lips flirted.
I sank deep into her, keeping her against the door. I brought my hands to her back and held her up. She grabbed at my face with her right hand, scratching at me. Her other hand grabbed my arm.
I fucked her harder, faster, pulling my cock all the way out only to pound right back into her. Each time I fucked forward, her ass smacked against the door. I was slow and thorough with her sweet body, loving the way her pussy sheathed me so fucking perfectly tight.
Dakota grabbed for my leather cut, pulling at me. She bucked her hips at me. “Fuck, Kye. Yes.”
“You love my outlaw cock, don’t you?”
“Yes!” she cried out.
I fucked again and I saw Dakota’s jaw drop. I had to hurry and put my mouth to hers to kiss her. I had to muffle her scream so she didn’t wake up Ellis or Debbie.
I sank deep and held there, thrusting harder, driving my body against hers, keeping her tight against the door. There wasn’t an inch inside her body that I wasn’t exploring. Her legs hooked around me as she rocked up and down. As we kissed, she whimpered into my mouth. I knew she was seconds from climax. And I wasn’t going to pull myself away until she came all over me.
“Fuck, fuck fuck,” she whispered over and over.
“Come for me, darling, right now,” I said.
Dakota’s hips bucked and then she smacked her ass against the door again. I felt her climax and she started to kiss me. Over and over, groaning in between kisses and breaths. We went at it, kissing harder than we were fucking. Shit, for a split second, I forgot that my cock was inside her.
