Nazis – The followers of Germany’s leader, Adolf Hitler. The name is derived from Hitler’s political party, the National Socialists.
Nonna – Grandmother.
Partigiani – Partisans, resistance fighters who planned and carried out secret attacks on the enemy.
Piazza – City or town square.
Polenta – A dish made from ground cornmeal or chestnuts. It is similar to grits.
Ragazzi – Children.
Signor and Signora – Mr. and Mrs.
Zabaglione – A custard-like dessert made with egg yolks, sugar and wine.
