“Damn, it’s like that?” he asked, his face in a regular smile as if he hadn’t said anything at all.
And this time, it was me whispering near his ear, “You’re lucky we have obligations. Otherwise it would’ve already been handled.”
“Gotdamn, I love your ass.”
“I love you too, Mr. Riley,” I told him with a wink before stepping away from him for a set of requested solo pictures.
But the second we reunited for the last set of cameras, he was sure to ask, “Did I hear that right? Or are you just frontin’ for the cameras?”
I couldn’t help but laugh considering, “They can’t even hear me, silly. And besides, I’m technically doing the opposite. Frontin’ like I don’t really want your ass when I already have you.”
“So what’s up then? You finally ready to claim a nigga on some official shit? Cause you know I don’t give a damn about these cameras or this show. That check has already cleared now,” he offered as he wrapped an arm around my waist, pulling me flush against his side as I rested a hand against his chest.
The pose brought me close enough to challenge, “You got it then, boss. Make your move if you’re really about that.”
Since I was really only teasing, Knox’s hand against my cheek caught me completely off guard as he brought his lips to mine; not only setting the cameras on fire, but setting me on fire as I moaned into his mouth against the sounds of the media shouting, “Amerie! Knox! Knox! Amerie!”
It wasn’t until he pulled away that I was able to acknowledge, “Look what you did.”
“Kissed my woman in public? I don’t see the problem,” he replied with a little shrug, smirking as he peeked past me towards our crowd of friends - Blaise, Malia, and Mackenzie. Zalayah and her mom-ager. Miranda and Elijah with dates of their own. - who were all cheering us on.
And he was right.
In fact, everything was right as he landed another kiss that made the cameras go crazy once again. But like him, I was no longer worried about what anyone else would think. My focus was completely on the moment, completely on enjoying the feel of Knox’s fingers as they dug into my ass to pull me even closer and deepen our kiss for the world to see.
Regardless of how much I had initially tried to fight it, there was no escaping what had always been for me, even when Knox didn’t quite know how to deliver. But when he pulled away, looking down at me and whispering another, “I love you” against my lips, I quickly realized that giving him a second chance to figure it out was totally worth it.
He had grown, we had grown, to love, and respect, and trust each other like any other normal couple would. And if there was any encore in the world I’d ever want to be a part of, loving and being loved by Knox was definitely it.
