“I promise ye, I will try everything in me power tae prevent yer death…I will make an appeal fur yer life wi' th' King, I will git him tae see…”

“Don’t make promises you can’t keep, Trice…I am pretty tired of trusting people right now,” I snapped making him release a sigh before he walked through the door and I flinched when I heard the click of the door closing. Then he turned back to face me and told me softly,

“I will come back whin yer are ready tae listen, fur I can see that yer tae angry right now.”

“Yeah, an impending death and being thrown to the wolves by who you considered a friend usually does that to you,” I replied in a hateful tone, making him wince against the verbal assault, one I would no doubt feel some guilt over at some point. But as for right now, well, all I saw was every plan I’d made to save Lucius, come crashing down around me. But he didn’t understand that. He didn’t know how many lives I had counting on me.

He only had one, that of his… brother.

Speaking of which, the guards who had escorted us down here were now bringing the limp body in between them down the hallway and I cried out when I realised it was Vern!

I lost all my anger and ran to the cell door. This was a wall that consisted of thick strips of metal and reached out with my hand through the diamond shaped gaps, before uttering a devastated,

“Gods, no!” Trice looked furious and pushed aside the guards so he could take hold of his brother.

“Vern, Gods in Hell, tell me yer alright, Lad,” Trice asked making his brother seem to come awake and move to grip on to him with bloody knuckles as if he had gone down fighting.

“Trice?” Vern asked as if he was seeing things.

“Aye Lad, I am here…I’m here with ye” But then this fact must have meant something to him, as he quickly looked up and his head searched around until finding me. It was also a sight that made me hiss through my teeth, as his bloodied face looked to have received a good beating. Then, with one eye swollen shut, his other widened at the sight of me in a cell.

“Och, no, no brother…please tell me that you didn’t…”

“Ssshh, now, we can discuss it later,” Trice said in a hard tone.

“Then it was all for nothing,” Vern said sadly, now letting his head hang once more, as if he couldn’t stand to witness what it had taken to get him back.

The sacrifice his brother had made with my life.

It was in that moment that Gryph turned up and his quick steps stopped dead when he took in the scene in front of him.

“Oh Lad, 'ere, give him tae me, Trice. I brought ye this tae bribe th' jailor with.” Then Gryph nodded to me making me frown in question.

“Och lad, where did yer bonnie looks go?” Gryph asked as he took his brother in his arms.

“Still prettier than ye be, ye ugly bastard.” Gryph laughed making Vern moan as he held his ribs, as if they had been broken.

  “Are ye alright, Lad?”

“Apart from getting me head kicked in fur sounding lik' a posh twat…Aye, then things be just pure barry,” Vern said on a laugh that ended in a groan of pain, as Gryph walked away with him in tow. Then I looked to Trice who was watching me the whole time, making me finally release some of my anger.

“At least it wasn’t all for nothing…I am glad your brother is alright, Trice.” I said, letting my hand fall from the iron wall of my cell and going to sit down in the corner, one of the only places that didn’t look covered in someone else’s excrement. Then I let myself slide down the wall and slump in this shithole, swiping angrily at the frustrated tears that fell, no matter how much I loathed to let them.

“I am going tae at least git ye out of this fcking cell,” Trice promised making me shrug my shoulders, before resting the back of my head on the wall as I looked up at the stone ceiling. Now not exactly thinking that the wrought iron hooks and draped chains looked like a fun sign of things to come. Oh well, maybe I would be dead by then.

  Here’s hoping, eh.

But it was after this point I had no more to say to Trice and it became clear that standing there talking to me was pointless.

  I was too numb.

In fact, I didn’t know how long it was before I looked up again and found I was alone. In fact, I lost all track of time and didn’t know how many hours I had been sitting there, only that it was long enough for me to feel the ache of moving. I knew this as the next time I looked up, it was the sight of who was obviously my real jailor.

He had a big ring of funky looking keys, that looked more like demonic toothpicks for some snarling beast. As for the being that had come to unlock my cell door, he was a demon with light grey skin. One that looked more like it was made of rock than of flesh as any scars there looked more like cracks. And like most in Hell, he was another big bastard, that didn’t own a damn shirt!

Which meant I could see the rounded, defined shoulders pebbled with bumps under his skin and up the muscles of his neck that gave him a large hump of muscle at the top of his spine. Two horns started at his brow line, making his eyes set so deep that they were barely seen. White hair flowed down his back and looked like it was covered in dust clinging to the strands. Crudely sewn trousers looked like he himself had made them from the skin of others, as they were patched in no particular way or pattern. At the front of his legs was a strip of material with a plaited edge cut in a T shape and was enough to hide the very male part of his anatomy, as it became clear when he moved by the slither of pale thigh that could be seen that his trousers didn’t do the job for him.

His nose was cut square and his top lip naturally curled up creating an S shape. I also didn’t like the way he looked at me.

“Well, get your ass up human, those three stupid bastards paid me well enough to put you somewhere nicer than this Gorgon shit pit.” I looked around at the three walls of stone and shit on the floor and not much else, which was why I didn’t need to be told twice. Because if I only had a short amount of time left in this hellhole, then if I could spend it somewhere even remotely nicer, then I was taking it.

I also still held out hope that I could get Trice to reach out to my Grandfather, as in my anger I had forgotten to ask him. So as my jailor banged open the door, he stepped aside and snapped,

“I don’t have a fucking age, get that sweet ass moving!” I frowned, not liking the comment but then looking at the size of the guy, I didn’t think throwing sass his way was going to get me anywhere. So, I walked out and then followed him until we reached the bottom of the corridor. One that looked like your typical prison in Hell, being that it was all stone walls and flaming torches. These were held in rings at the pillars that seemed to separate the cells, offering a hellish glow in the dark and ominous place.

But then came actual doors, instead of being on show to the world and he unlocked the door with one of the shards pushed into the hole without even having to twist the strange key. Then he kicked open the door and grabbed my arm to push me inside, making me stumble into what was now, in its most basic form, a bedroom. Because it held a few pieces of plain furniture, one of which was a bed that at least looked clean.

In fact, I was just looking around the room when I heard the door close behind me, releasing a new sigh of relief, before muttering to myself,

“Well, at least this is…oh shit!” This ended on a gasp of horror as I realised that the jailer hadn’t just locked the door, leaving me inside alone, before pissing off.

Oh, but he had locked the door alright, but as for the pissing off part, that was where he had failed. As he now turned to face me, swinging the ring of keys around his meaty finger, grinning in that knowing way.

Then he yanked away the flap of material covering his crotch and rubbed his hand up and down a huge erect grey cock, that looked as if it was only ever intended for splitting girls in two, as there was no way a human girl would survive that thing!

But then again, I suppose that down here, in Hell and on death row…

  I wasn’t mean
t to survive anything.

  Chapter 31

For the Love of a Bitey

He took a step towards me and rubbed his cock harder.

“You look like you have all the right places for me to put my cock in, little girl,” the demon said making me grimace before telling him,

“Oh, you think? Well, you obviously have never met a demon like me.” He frowned making his horns dip lower slightly before he snarled,

  “You’re human.”

“Yes, that’s what we Biteys want you to believe,” I said, admittedly losing slightly more confidence after I had named my made up demon Bitey. I swear if it hadn’t been too obvious to do so, then I would have rolled my eyes at myself and slapped my forehead.

“Biteys? What the fuck is a Bitey?” he shouted.

“Well, I am you grey hunk you, so sure, you wanna go a round then we can play, but just so you know, we are called Biteys for a reason.”

“And why is that, little mouth?” Little mouth? Err yeah, sure okay, weirdo demon.

“Because our mouths aren’t the only places we have teeth,” I told him, snapping my jaw and nodding at his still naked and erect grey cock. I nearly smiled when I saw him recoil his hips back, but then it totally started to backfire as he lunged for me and said,

“I want to see this for myself!” Thankfully, due to his big size, he wasn’t that fast and I managed to dodge him, at least this time. He snarled at me as I put the bed in between us, wishing it had been more than just a few shitty pallets put together. But then, with a side table at my back, I reached behind me for anything I could get my hands on.

“I don’t believe you!” he snarled, making me say,

“It’s true, I mean they don’t call me the pussy meat chomper for nothing!” I said knowing that even Pip would have been proud at that one.

“I don’t think so, but after I am done with you, they will call you something else!”

“Yeah, what’s that? Bleach Girl, ‘cause that is what it will take to get your stench off me!” He growled low before charging again and I grabbed whatever it was behind me and smashed him across the face with…

“Oh great, a fucking piss pot…perfect,” I said after holding the dented metal bowl up to look at it. This, of course, was when he grabbed me, doing so by the neck and ending the beginning of a shout by cutting off my air supply. I started kicking out at him, but this was about as effective as if I had been tickling him with feathers.

Damn, but I swear this guy was made of fucking rocks!

I started to see black spots cloud my vision which I knew wasn’t a good sign, which was when I suddenly remembered what Nero had given me! So, I reached inside my pocket quickly before he could just snap my neck and it was game over. Then I dumped the whole contents of the pouch in my hand and before I passed out, I used the last of my strength to lift my fist to his face. Then I opened my fingers and blew that shit in his face, making him howl in pain and drop me.

I fell to my knees and was just smart enough to roll out of the way before he too dropped to his knees and landed hard on his face. This naturally made me wonder what the hell Nero had given me to put in my own eyes. Well, with that reaction rate, I didn’t see Specsavers investing any time soon.

I coughed through the new pain at my neck and the second I saw him start to move, I grabbed a chair and hit him over the head with it, making it split on impact. Yet this still wasn’t enough as the big bastard still kept moving thus giving way to the new game to play, mainly one named…

‘What else I could find to hit the demon in the head with!?’

So, I then grabbed something bigger which was a side table and hammered that down, again making it break on impact. That didn’t work either, so the next thing to go was a full shelving unit that I had to tiptoe towards him, it was that heavy! It actually reminded me of Caspian, and it made me mutter under the physical strain,

“Oh yeah, now I need that vow to save my ass, you’re nowhere to be seen, huh.” Then when I got it close enough, I let it go whilst shouting,

“TIMBER!” Again, it crashed into him, and the shelves broke free, with the frame now twisted. Then I kicked the broken pieces off him and when he moved again, I shouted,

“Aww come on! Gods, what the hell are you made off, fucking granite!” Then I picked up a shelf and smacked him with it over and over again!

  “JUST DIE ALREADY!”

Again, he moved and I slumped back exhausted, panting against the bed, asking myself where was Arnold Schwarzenegger and his Terminator ass when you needed him! But then the second he started to try and get up I knew that I had to do something, as I couldn’t just continue hitting him with shit. Besides, I was running out of furniture.

But then I looked at the bedding and had an idea.

Which meant that by the time the three brothers showed up and they kicked in the cell door as if they were there ready to save the day, what they found was me sat on the back of a demon currently hogtying him with long strips of torn bedding and hitting him with the metal chamber pot every time he moved, so I could finish the job.

Of course, when they had all burst into the room, I had just hit him, meaning their dramatic entrance ended with a ding sound and made for a comedy moment. All three faces were pretty much the same, as let’s just say, it wasn’t a sight they expected to see.

“Next time when a lady says no, I think he will listen,” I told them as a way of explaining the situation. Which made all three of them reply,

  “Aye,” Trice said.

“That he wull, Lass,” Gryph said.

“I bet my fcking arse he wull,” Vern said then he turned to Trice, patted him on the back and said,

“Good luck, cowboy, th’ lass be tae wild fur me.” Then he limped back out of the cell and nodded for Gryph to join him.

“Are yer alright?” Trice asked the second we were alone, well, all except the groaner beneath me.

“I will be when you get me out of here,” I said gathering now that was why they had burst in here, but then as I was getting up, I noticed his tense expression making me say in a questioning way,

“That is why you’re here, right…to bust me out?” At this Trice took a deep breath and his pained face gave me my answer,

  “Oh, I see.”

  “Lass.”

“Then why did you come?” I snapped and he nodded to Mr grey shit stain, hogtied on the floor.

“We git wind of th' jailor bein' one who liked tae rape th' prisoners,” he told me with a tensed jaw, obviously thinking what could have happened had I not been able to fend him off like I done.

“Oh, well I don’t think he will be doing that again, not until it heals anyway,” I said making Trice wince and I laughed once, telling him,

“Joking… he got to keep it…besides, I didn’t have anything to cut it off with.” Then I winked at him, making him mutter,

“Remind me never tae piss ye off, Lass.” I opened my arms out wide and said,

  “Really?”

“Good point,” he said getting my sarcasm, seeing as I was currently in this situation because of him and him pissing me off was an understatement of the bloody year!

“Are ye sure yer alright?” he said coming to me and I backed up until I had nowhere else to go, meaning he was touching me in seconds, checking that my sore neck was okay.

“I’m fine, Trice,” I said in a gentle way, as his concern for me counted enough for me to let go of my anger.

“Gods, Lass, when I think about what could have happened!” he snapped, clearly angry with himself.

“Yeah, well it didn’t and besides, I am harder than I look.”

“Aye, clearly,” he said making me release a sigh before slipping out from beneath his gentle touch, needing the space.

“Well, thanks for coming to my rescue and all, but as you can see, I am fine and well… I guess I will live for another day at least,” I said making him say my name softly,

  “Amelia.” Gods, but I hate
d that the way he said it with his accent, as he made it sound so beautiful, almost like a purr. Which was why I tensed before telling him,

  “Don’t, Trice,”

“I wish I could break ye out of 'ere, bit it just wouldn’t be possible, aye, nae 'til we were strong enough tae face that type of army,” he said and I released a deep breath, knowing that I couldn’t expect them to risk their lives for me, and despite him being the reason I was here now. I knew I didn’t have it in me to hate him.

“And I shouldn’t ask you to,” I admitted making him growl angrily,

  “Bullshit! Yer me woman ‘n’ I should…”

“What?” I asked interrupting him and he shot me a look before straightening and stating boldly,

“Yer mine.” I released a sigh and told him,

“No, Trice… I am sorry, but I can’t be yours.”

“Why the fuck not?!” he snapped folding his arms and looking pissed.

“Well, apart from the obvious, ‘about to be executed’ reason.”

  “I won’t let them…” I cut him off,

“And how will you ever stop them, Trice, you said it yourself, you’re not strong enough yet and I don’t know…” This was when he decided he’d had enough and was the one to interrupt me this time.

“Stop. Just stop, okay. I wull find a wey and if nae, then I wull tell th' King that I have claimed ye as my own, that way he is bound by law tae accept it and…” I held up a hand to stop him and said in a sad tone,

“I can’t let you do that, Trice.” Gods, the man was breaking my heart. I couldn’t believe the lengths he was willing to go, and I felt terrible knowing that I had done this. I had caused this amount of guilt for him to feel.
