Sheryl sat as requested and waited patiently for her plate. As he sat it down, she realized that he had made her absolute favorites. Sheryl had always been kind of a health nut, and for breakfast ate things such as carrot pancakes, smoked salmon and asparagus omelets, and portabella bacon. Here were all three things, placed neatly on her plate. “That’s a lot of food, honey,” she observed.

“Yep. You may as well get used to eating for two. Did you take your vitamin?” he asked.

“You know that I have taken it every day since we started trying. Are you going to be the overbearingly doting husband?” she asked playfully.

“I might,” he evaded, “Can you blame me? I mean, this is finally going to happen, just like that. After all of these years of treatments, planning, tracking, and having sex become a chore, one night of fun splashing in a spring will finally give us what we want. Could it be more perfect?”

  “I guess not,” she answered.

“I wonder why she chose us. I wonder if this is a gift that she has, and if she helps people all of the time, or if this is a once- in- a- lifetime opportunity that we are lucky enough to be chosen for. She mentioned something about the moon… I wonder if this happens often and if someone is up in that spring every time. I didn’t realize until this morning how many questions I had,” he admitted, “last night was just so unreal.”

“Yeah it was,” she agreed, “and I have a lot of questions too, but in the end none of them matter. Would having all of the answers change anything? Would it make a difference? All that matters is that we will finally get to have a baby, and as a bonus, we have also rediscovered our sexuality instead of performing sex as if it were some mundane act not performed for pleasure. I forgot how much I used to enjoy watching you go down on another girl, and how much I missed touching a soft female body.”

“I forgot how much I enjoy seeing you with another girl too Sheryl. You have no idea how much I missed it. Hell, I had no idea until last night. Just picturing you grinding her face as I fucked her…”

Sheryl giggled and pointed her fork at him playfully. “You’d better quit, before we find ourselves back in bed. We have a busy day today, you know.”

  “Do we?” he asked.

“Why yes, we have to open back up the nursery. It needs to be aired out so we can start getting it ready,” she said.

“Are you sure Sheryl? You remember the last time we went in there, don’t you?”

“Yes. I had a hard time accepting the last miscarriage. I know I said I wouldn’t go back in there until I was sure the pregnancy was viable. But today I woke up with the confidence that this would work, and I want to face it again, so I can grieve properly and let it go before we move on.”

“If you’re sure Sheryl, I will join you,” David said solemnly.

Cadence woke with a start, not knowing where she was. It wasn’t sun down; she could feel it wasn’t; but here she was, suddenly awake. She detected a presence beside her, and it took a moment for the night before to come flooding back. She remembered meeting with Elvin and all of the things that he had said. She remembered David and Sheryl and the promise she had made. For a moment, in Elvin’s arms, she wondered if she had made the right decision. Was it too late to change her mind?

Maybe Elvin and her could be happy together forever. Maybe she could let go of her longing for a family… Right as she thought this, she immediately realized that it wasn’t true. She was even more aware of this after hearing that he had the same longing. Why had she caused him to feel this way? and was this not a decision that was selfish in its own right? How could she leave him to leave out his days without her, living with the regret she had caused him?

Her thoughts then returned to David and Sheryl. She imagined what they were doing now, as they awaited the night ahead. Were they celebrating? Were they just going about their day as normal? Were they nervous and happy like she imagined she would be? She imagined Sheryl pregnant, with a baby inside. She would surely be radiant and beautiful. She imagined David helping her to carry things that were too heavy. She imagined his face when Sheryl would tell him that it was time.

Last, she imagined them holding their brand new baby. She then remembered why she was doing this. She wanted to create that joy in someone else. She knew that Elvin understood. She hoped that he could find peace in it. Picturing them with a baby made her indescribably happy. In a way, it would be her baby too, given her life energy to take as its own. She wondered what the baby would look like. With parents as beautiful as they were, she was sure that the baby would be gorgeous.

More sure of her decision than before, she wept quietly as she lay and contemplated it all. She knew that this was the right choice to make, and the only way she would ever have peace. She hoped that Elvin could find the same. She turned to him and pulled herself close, drifting back into a state of sleep.

As the smell of breakfast faded, Sheryl and David lingered at the table. Though they both understood the task they had assigned themselves, they both found themselves apprehensive as well. The last time they had entered this room was to pack it up. There was a point when Sheryl was ready to give up, and she vowed not to enter again until she was sure that they were having a baby. They had gotten pregnant once before, and in the excitement started filling the nursery and readying themselves for the long-awaited arrival. When the baby was lost, the pain was almost unbearable.

As they got up and left the table to head down the hall, Sheryl fully expected to feel apprehensive. Instead, she was surprised to find herself relieved to finally be opening it up again. She glanced at David as they reached the door, and realized that he seemed to have the same look on his face that she did. As she opened the door it was as if a weight was lifted.

“Do you feel that?” he asked.

“Yes, I do,” she answered, “Do you think the energy is already taking effect or we are just that in tune today?”

“I don’t know,” answered David, “but I’m taking it as a good sign. Now let’s get this crib back unpacked and set up before you can no longer help me,” he teased, “I don’t want to be stuck setting all of this up alone again.”

Cadence awoke at sun down to find herself beside Elvin still snoring. She remembered the first time she had heard him snore, and how she had laughed at the thought of a vampire snoring. She laughed now at that memory, rousing Elvin from his apparent deep sleep.

“What, my dear, is so funny?” he asked.

“Oh, just you,” she answered. “It’s been years since I got to laugh at you.”

“I’m glad to be of service,” he grinned.

For a moment, in half awoken state, they simply existed with each other, forgetting the troubles of life and the task that lay ahead. Cadence snuggled deep into Elvin’s arms relishing it. She was not able to stave off her fears for long though, and was finally forced to acknowledge what the day held.

“What will it feel like to die like that?” she asked. This was the first time that she had allowed herself to think this thought, and it almost surprised her when she spoke it aloud.

“I’ve seen it once,” he answered honestly. “A great friend of mine long ago decided to give up his immortality. I helped him search for years to find the one that had transformed him- I’m sure you know how hard that can be with the elusiveness of a vampire. We finally found him, and he was granted his request. It was not painful, and I was with him on the day he died. It was almost peaceful, as I hope it is for you.”

“I hope so, too,” she murmured. “Well, it’s time. I will return a mortal once I am done.” She turned to him to kiss him passionately before she left the cave.

Sheryl and David were once again nervous and excited. This whole situation was a lot to wrap their heads around, and they both wondered how long it would take to actually do so. They had spent the day trying to prepare themselves to accept that they would finally get to be parents, and now were as ready as they could be to make it happen. This added to the sexual tension that would u
ltimately only rise left both of them with feelings of pins and needles. As they parked the vehicle, they saw Cadence walking towards them out of the darkness.

“First, we hike,” she said, smiling at them.

“Lead the way, m’lady,” David joked, trying to relieve his own nervousness with a laugh. They walked in silence, each with their own heavy thoughts to grapple with.

As the spring came into view, David and Sheryl could almost feel that is was the place. There was a distinct clearing that let in the light of the enormously full moon. The spring reflected it beautifully, looking almost as if the moon were held inside the spring itself.

As they approached, Sheryl instinctively began to undress and wade into the pond. Cadence and David followed, with all of the solemnity that a ritual might require.

“Don’t forget that this is about fun, too,” Cadence said with a grin as she tried to lighten the mood. Sheryl relaxed and David’s body began to visibly respond to what lay before him.

Cadence approached Sheryl slowly, and then ran her fingers down her chest and stomach softly. “Oh, that I might help plant a seed there,” she mused. Sheryl lifted to kiss her. They locked lips briefly, and then Sheryl pulled away.

“Bite me,” she said. Up until this point, hunger had not been on Cadence’s mind. She could go days without eating. At Sheryl’s request though, she realized that this would be the absolute last time she would get to feed as a vampire. She hungrily obliged.

As she latched on to Sheryl’s neck, Sheryl let out an audible moan of pleasure and pain. Cadence had never willingly kept a host awake, and found herself extremely aroused at this prospect. why had she never tried this before?

As she drank, David moved closer, caressing her body as she took from his wife. The display had him fully erect and obviously longing to be touched himself. With all the patience, he quietly stroked himself as his wife moaned and gasped.

Cadence slowly trailed her fingers down Sheryl’s body to her vagina, to explore the reaction she was getting. Sheryl seemed to be at peak arousal, and Cadence indulged her by massaging her slowly. Almost too caught up, she realized that she was getting to the point where she was full, and could take no more from Sheryl without causing harm. She pulled away from Sheryl’s neck, even as Sheryl moaned for more.

“Now suck him then,” she moaned. Let me just lay here. As Cadence moved towards David, he lounged in the pool opposite his wife. Cadence had not had a cock in her mouth in a while, and at first fumbled clumsily with it. After a moment, she developed a rhythm, and David moaned in gratitude. With her free hands, Cadence kept Sheryl at the ready, teasing and rubbing her clit as she moaned.

“Let your teeth out,” David requested, “I want to feel them gently run along my hard cock just once.” Cadence obliged. Surprised at the sexuality she was discovering in her own state as a vampire, she was very thankful for the opportunity to be with these two before she would give up the state forever.

Realizing that he couldn’t hold back much longer, David proclaimed that he was about to come. Cadence shoved his whole cock in her mouth to allow him to do just that. She was eager to return to Sheryl, and give her what she knew the longing for all too well. As David came, Cadence held him still to catch every last bit of his seed.

She bent to Sheryl’s open, waiting pussy, and shoved her tongue in. At that moment, a sensation washed over her that she had only felt once before. As she gave up her immortality, the orgasmic feeling of transformation washed over, much as it had when Elvin first transformed her.

At that moment, Sheryl erupted, arching and moaning in ecstasy. It was almost as if this energy was being transferred directly from cadence into her via her vagina. As Cadence finished and the feeling subsided, she knew intuitively that it had worked, and that she was no longer immortal.

Realizing what they had just done, the three of them sat quietly in each other’s arms, quietly contemplating the creation they had just witnessed. The moonlight was now fading as the moon’s crest began to be blocked by the trees surrounding the clearance. In the darkness, Sheryl let out a tearful ‘thank you’, acknowledging Cadence and David both.

  “Now what?” he asked.

“Now you live your life. Take the blessed gift of fertility and be happy.”

“And what about you? How do we thank you?” Sheryl asked.

“Just cherish the gift,” she answered, “that is all I ask.”

At this she lifted herself from the spring.

  “Are you leaving?” David asked.

“Yes, I must move on,” Cadence answered, “Please understand.”

“If you must,” said Sheryl, clearly pained, “but I am forever indebted to you.”

“No, you are not,” said Cadence, “all bets are off, and all prices are paid in full. I am glad to have met you guys, and to have the opportunity to help you create life.” With that, she walked off into the darkness.

The air felt heavy as she entered into the cave. She had made a promise to herself not to grieve the price she had chosen to pay, but could not force Elvin to adhere to the same request. Before her eyes could adjust, she was engulfed in his arms.

“Oh Cadence,” he said, “you have done it; I can sense it.”

“Please do not be upset, Elvin. I made this decision on my own. I was aware of the consequences and the price to be paid, and I made the decision fully informed. I feel that I made this decision with far more logic than I ever used to decide to become immortal. I know that I cannot force you to not be sad for me or grieve me when I go, but I want you to know that for the first time in a long time, I feel like I have no regrets.”

  “Cadence…” he started.

“In fact, take a moment to look at the bright side,” she joked. “Do you remember when you fed from me? Do you remember how delicious you said I tasted? I can offer myself to you again as a host, and you can take from me as you will. Only his time, I want to be awake for it to see how it feels.” She smiled at him ironically.

“Cadence,” Elvin began again, pulling her close this time. He was overtaken by the feeling of her heartbeat again after all of these years. He saw the gleam in her eye as she joked about him biting her. He grabbed her firmly and pressed her against him, with her head on his chest. Cadence pushed back at once, with alarm in her face.

“Elvin!” she exclaimed, then sat speechless, mouth agape and staring at him. He grinned at her surprise, which was exactly the response he wanted.

“Did you think you had the power to create life yourself? It takes two vampires, just as it takes two humans. While you hiked down the mountain, I prepared the spring, performing my own ritual and lending my own life force to the spring of conception. I joined with you to create this life, and I will join you in mortality. Now come, spend forever with me, even if it is only nine more months.”

“I would want nothing more, Elvin,” Cadence answered through her tears. She buried her head into his chest, only to listen to the sound of his now beating heart.

The forests were harsh and dark and Julienne had been running for what seemed like hours. She had long ago left the roads and any semblance of civilization behind, and as she ran, she realized that she was
leaving the ground behind as well. A great chasm opened up before her and she had to stop running and hope that her pursuers were left far behind. For the first time since she had started, she collapsed and alternated between deep breaths and heaving sobs. The life she had led for so long had been taken away from her in an instant, and now she was left with nothing but the clothes she was wearing. As she examined herself and saw that the forest had done its best to take that away from her, too, and her dress was torn almost to shreds. Then she heard them coming, their shouts and jeers, and she looked at the chasm and weighed her options.

"She went this way," she heard, a man's angry voice. "We can get her and take care of this and be home in time for dinner."

"Not the way I plan on doing it," said another voice. "She was a pretty little thing. Me and a few of the boys think it would be terrible for it to go waste."

"Whatever you want," said the first voice. "I won't tell."

Julienne felt a righteous anger rise up within her. She had begun this flight because those very same men who were chasing her had accused her of dark and dangerous things, and now they were going to perpetuate those very same foul deeds upon her? All of her weariness vanished and she searched for something with which to defend herself. She found a rock, sharp and pointed like a tooth, and prepared to take down as many of them as she could before she went down herself. They came through the tree line, half a dozen men of various ages, all holding implements of violence. Their leader, and older man whose hair was either gone or graying, leveled his weapon at her.

"All right, girlie, you can either make this easy or hard," said the man. "It doesn't matter much to me which you go with, you're not getting out of this alive."
