“Ah.” He huffed and puffed. “Your ass is so beautiful.”

The bed rocked as he jerked himself.

“Give me that tongue.” She pushed his head inside her ass.

He latched his mouth back on her clit.

“Suck it, Kevin.” She held his head in place. “Come on, shit. Faster. Like that. Oh, yeah.”

He shook his head left and right until Alexis burst against his tongue.

“Yes!” She jerked several times from impact.

“Turn over.” He rolled her over and climbed on top of her, perching his rigid cock in front of her face. “Suck it,” he demanded, holding it in place.

Alexis raised her head and wrapped her lips around him. “Mm.”

“Oh.” With his eyes closed, Kevin leaned back, moving his body to her pace. “Yes, Lexi. You like that dick in your mouth?”

“Mm-hmm.” She grabbed his cock and shoved it toward her throat, gagging.

“Yeah.” Kevin moaned. “I love that sound. Oh, I wanna fuck your throat, Lexi.”

Mumbling in response, she moved her head back and forth, mimicking the thrusts of him being inside her pussy.

“Yeah!” He held on to the rocking headboard. “Shit, Lexi. Yes! It’s coming, baby. It’s coming!”

She jerked as his warm cream filled her mouth. She coughed, laughing.

“You okay?” He chuckled, rubbing her shoulders. “You all right?”

“Damn near choked me…” She cleared her throat as cum ran down the side of her mouth. “But it was worth it. Your cock tastes so good.”

“Couldn’t taste half as good as your pussy.” He licked his lips. “Give me these feet.” He kissed both of her big toes then held them to the hair on his crotch. “Rub my dick.”

Alexis leaned on her elbows and stroked his dick between her feet.

“Uh-huh.” Kevin gyrated as she rolled his dick with the bottom of her feet.

“You like fucking my feet?” She played with her nipples.

He growled, leaning back. “Fuck, yeah.”

“You’re getting me wet again.” She rolled over on her knees. “Fuck me.”

He held her waist and slid inside her slick opening.

“Ah.” She pushed two fingers on her clit and rubbed. “Yes, keep fucking me, baby.”

“Oh.” He rammed deeper inside of her. “God.”

Alexis gyrated from his rhythmic movements. “Yes!”

“Ooh.” He stretched against her tender walls. “Lexi…ah.”

“Shit!” Alexis shuddered and trembled as she climaxed.

“Ah.” Kevin came a second afterward, collapsing on her back.

Alexis let go of the headboard and breathed into the pillow.

  “God.” Kevin rolled off her.

“I’d say that was incredible.” Alexis shoved wild strands of hair from her face. “But I don’t think ‘incredible’ does it justice.” She grabbed the cigarettes and face towel from the end table and wiped traces of him off her chin and chest.

“Can I have it?” He got the towel and wiped off his dick. “We made a mess, huh?”

“Yeah.” Alexis wiggled against the wet spot on the sheet. “It’ll dry.” She snatched out a cigarette.

He threw the little towel on the floor. “Can’t you go one minute without smoking?” He stretched.

She popped the cigarette in her mouth and lit it.

Kevin turned his head, grimacing. “I’ve asked you not to smoke around me. I hate it.”

She blew smoke in his direction.

“I shouldn’t have to be subjected to potential lung cancer because of your nicotine habit.” He gripped the sheet. “Do you realize your lungs will shrivel up the size of prunes by the time you’re fifty?”

“I’ll worry about it when I’m fifty.” She lay on him with the cigarette in her mouth. “I’ve always had anxiety, and smoking calms me.”

He touched the necklace he’d given her and laughed. “How come every time we start out having to talk, we end up naked?”

  She guffawed. “I don’t know.”

“Was your sex life with Mario as intense as ours?” He played with her hair.

“We had a satisfying physical relationship, but I’m more comfortable with you because I’ve known you all my life.”

“With me you can be the real you, you mean?” He kissed her hand.

“You know me better than I know myself.” She wiggled her fingers in between his. “That’s an extremely, freeing feeling.

“It’s the most amazing feeling I’ve ever experienced.” He kissed her.

“So now we’ve gotten the sex out of the way…” She giggled, pinching his nipple. “What did you want to tell me before we got distracted?”

“I got a visit from Grant at the office earlier, and he wanted to know who you’d been talking to.”

  “Really.”

He rubbed his hair. “What is he talking about, Lexi?”

  “Nothing.”

“Hey, I know you better than anyone, remember? Is he talking about Nolan’s accident?”

She moved off him. “You ever wonder why Grant’s so suspicious of me?”

“Yeah, it’s because you won’t mind your own business.”

“Nolan’s death is connected to Grant somehow.” She glanced around her bedroom, biting her lip. “I know it and—”

“Damn, woman.” He lay back, sighing. “Are you ever gonna let this vendetta with Grant go? I hope you go see that police shrink soon because you need it.”

“No, I need you to stop acting like Grant’s innocent all the damn time.” She got up, wrapping the sheet around her waist. “Want a snack?”

“On second thought I’m going home.” He walked his naked ass to his pile of clothes on the foot of the bed.

She enjoyed watching his ass cheeks move when he walked. “I don’t want you to go.”

He got his pants off the floor. “I need to know you trust me, Lexi.”

“I do.” She placed her palms against his cheeks. “I love you, Kevin.”

“Then you can tell me anything.” He rubbed her naked waist. “I told you if I have to choose between you and my loyalty to Grant…he’s gone.”

“And, that’s not fair to you.”

“I don’t care.” He sat on the bed still holding her. “You’re the only thing that matters. I’ll trade the status and money in a heartbeat for an eternity with you.” He lowered her to his waist, and she felt him getting hard again. “Just don’t hide anything from me, okay?”

She hugged him. “I promise you that if there’s something you should know, I’ll tell you.”

  The Next Day

“We appreciate you taking the time to speak with us, Sebastian,” Alexis said. She and Penelope followed Sebastian Hayek into the living room of the cluttered trailer house. “We won’t take much of your time.” Alexis smiled.

“No problem.” The handsome eighteen-year-old moved dirty clothes off the couch. “Sorry for the mess. Please sit down.”

  Alexis sat.

Penelope’s side of the couch dropped when she sat. “Whoa.”

“Sorry about that.” Sebastian struggled with the clothes. “The leg broke off one side.” He threw the clothes on the chair in front of the television. “What did you want to talk about?”

“You okay?” Alexis took out her notepad. “You seem nervous.”

He rubbed his closely-shaven black hair. “Well, isn’t anyone nervous when the cops want to speak to them?”

Penelope crossed her legs at the ankles. “Don’t be nervous. You haven’t done anything, right?”

  Alexis peered at him.

“No, Ma’am.” He put his hands in the pockets of his jeans. “Is this about what happened to Rose?”

“Or better yet, what happened to Donovan.” Alexis took out her pencil. “Rose told us you’re her closest friend.”

He sat on top of the clothes in the chair.

  Alexis tapped the pen
cil against her chin. “You and Rose grew up together, right?”

  He nodded.

“From what we hear, you care about her a lot.” Penelope tilted her head. “Mutual friends of yours and Rose say you’re in love with her.”

  He looked at the floor.

“Sebastian?” Alexis sung his name. “Is that true? Are you in love with Rose?”

“Rose made it clear she wanted to be friends, and I accepted that.”

“Did you?” Penelope asked. “It had to hurt to be rejected by the woman you love.”

“I deeply care about Rose.” He put his hand on his chest. “I’d rather have her as a friend than nothing at all.”

“How did you feel about Donovan McCoy?” Alexis asked.

He shrugged with his mouth twisted.

Alexis waved the pencil. “You didn’t like him, did you?”

“Better yet, you probably didn’t like Rose with him either,” Penelope said.

“I thought he was a spoiled ass rich kid who thought he deserved everything he wanted.” He stood with an alarmed look on his face. “You think I killed him?”

“Did you?” Penelope raised an eyebrow. “You had motive.”

“I didn’t kill anyone.” He moved to the coffee table. “I couldn’t do something like that.”

“Even if that person was hurting the woman you loved?” Penelope asked. “Did you follow Donovan and Rose on their date?”

He scoffed. “Are you kidding? No, I didn’t follow them.”

“Your friends say you got upset when Rose told you she was going out with Donovan,” Alexis said. “And we want to know how upset you got.”

Sebastian’s “double” walked into the living room with an apple. “What’s going on?”

“Whoa.” Alexis did a double take. “I didn’t know you had a twin.” She stared back and forth at them.

“Jesus,” Penelope whispered. “Need a sign to tell you two apart.”

“This is my brother, Samuel.” Sebastian pointed to his twin. “Samuel, this is Detective Adams and Detective Dao.”

“Nice to meet you, Samuel.” Alexis nodded. “We were just speaking to your brother about Donovan McCoy’s murder.”

“What a douche bag.” Samuel bit into the Red Delicious apple. “He deserved what he got.”

“Yo, shut up.” Sebastian nudged him.

Penelope squinted. “Why do you say that, Samuel?”

He chewed. “He was an asshole. He drove up here the other day like some big shot and tried to bully my brother into a fight.”

  Sebastian exhaled.

  “What happened?” Alexis asked.

“Nothing,” Sebastian said. “I didn’t like how he was hanging around Rose. It seemed suspicious. I told him she’s a good person and he better not hurt her.”

“Then he got all loud with Sebastian.” Samuel chewed. “Donovan embarrassed him in front of the whole neighborhood.”

  The officers glanced at Sebastian.

“Man, shut up.” Sebastian hit his arm. “You talk too damn much. No one embarrassed me.”

Alexis tapped the notepad. “Sebastian, where were you Monday around nine p.m.?”

Samuel chomped into the apple. “He didn’t do anything.”

“Did I ask you anything?” Alexis rolled her eyes at him. “Sebastian?”

“I was at work,” he said. “I work at the mechanics shop down the block and don’t get off until ten.”

Alexis jotted the information. “Do you have a gun?”

“What?” Samuel grimaced. “No, my brother doesn’t have a gun.”

Sebastian fidgeted. “I’ve never even held a gun before.”

“Do you have access to one?” Penelope asked. “Do your parents have a gun?”

“It’s just our dad.” Samuel bit into the apple. “And no, he doesn’t have a gun.”

  Sebastian glanced at his brother.

“What’s your dad’s name?” Alexis asked.

  “Leandro,” Samuel said.

“Leandro Hayek?” Penelope nodded. “Doesn’t he have a record?”

“No,” Samuel said. “He’s had run-ins with cops for public intoxication and stuff like that, but he’s never been arrested. Maybe you should ask Donovan’s rich ass friends these questions.”

  “We did,” Alexis said. “We…”

  Her cell rang.

“Excuse me.” She dug the phone out her pocket and answered, “Hello?”

“Is this Detective Adams?” a woman asked.

“Yes, it is.” Alexis looked at Penelope. “Who is this?”

“My name is Andrea.” The woman coughed. “I saw you at the Tate Valley Motel talking to Base. I’m a friend of his, and I think I got information you want about Base and Mr. Copeland.”

Alexis jumped off the couch. “Excuse me.” She ran out of the room.

“Where are you going?” Penelope yelled.

Alexis went into the kitchen and stood by the overstuffed trashcan. “What did you say?” she asked into the phone.

“I think I got information about Base and Grant Copeland,” Andrea said. “But it’s gonna cost you.”

“Oh, I see.” Alexis sighed. “Is this some trick to get money out of me? Did Base tell you we gave him a hundred dollars?”

“Look, I called to help you out. Do you want to take the chance of missing out on what I have to tell you?”

“I want the information, but I’m not a fool either. How do I know this isn’t a scam?”

“Fine,” Andrea said. “If you don’t want the information, then good luck—”

“Wait.” Alexis huffed. “I want the information.”

“You know that old strip mall on Soviet Avenue? Meet me there tomorrow night at seven o’clock and bring two hundred dollars.”

“Two hundred?” Alexis shook her head.

“Hey, you gave Base a hundred, and he didn’t even tell you shit. So we on?”

  Alexis sighed. “Yeah.”

  “See you then, Detective.”

  Chapter Eight

Kevin’s silver-gray Porsche 911 Carrera S drove up to Alexis’ house as she walked out the next night.

He got out carrying a bouquet of roses. “What’s up, Gorgeous?”

“Hey.” She hurried off the porch. “I didn’t know you were coming by.”

“Looks like I should’ve called.” His smile faded. “You’re leaving?”

“Yeah, I got an errand to run.” She kissed him. “Are these for me?” She got the roses. “They’re beautiful.” She headed to her Toyota in the driveway. “I’ll call you later, okay?”

“Wait.” He followed. “Is something wrong?”

“No.” She opened the driver’s door. “I have a quick errand.”

  “What’s going on?”

“What?” She tossed her purse and the roses in the car. “I can’t have an errand to run?”

“What’s so important that you have to rush off?”

“Nothing.” She started to get in the car.

“Wait a minute.” He grabbed her arm. “I don’t like this.”

“Whoa.” She yanked her arm back. “Excuse me, but what was that? So because you gave me this necklace you can control me?” She slipped her finger under the necklace. “If that’s the case this thing can come off real quick.”

“I apologize, honey. I didn’t mean to grab you like that but you’re not telling me the truth. I thought you trusted me.”

She exhaled. “I do for the last damn time.”

“No, you don’t.” He stepped away from the car. “If you did you’d tell me where you’re going.”

  “Kevin—”

“Forget this.” He headed for his car.

“Shit.” She stomped her foot. “Kevin, wait!”

  He stopped.

She walked to the front of her car. “You have to promise me you won’t tell.”

He cocked his head to the side. “I promise. Now what’s going on?”

  “It’s about Nolan A
rmstrong.”

  “Duh.” He grinned.

“I’m going to Soviet Avenue to meet a woman who might have information.” She clasped her hands. “I know in my heart Nolan’s death wasn’t an accident.”

  “Who is this woman?”

  “Someone named Andrea.”

He grimaced. “You’re going to one of the most dangerous areas at night to meet some woman you don’t even know?”

“Look, beggars can’t be choosers, all right? She says she has information, and I wanna know what it is.” She went back to the driver’s side of her car.

“This is crazy, Lexi.” He marched toward her. “You promised you’d stop worrying about Grant if he stayed out of your way.”

“He’s hiding something.” She got in the car. “If I’m wrong I’ll leave it alone but the cop in me won’t let it go until I investigate.”

“Grant’s not a killer. Why the hell would he kill Nolan anyway? He was a huge part of the Copeland Enterprise family.”

“I gotta go.” She got a whiff of his mesmerizing cologne that almost persuaded her to skip the meeting with Andrea. “I’ll call you later.”

“You’re not going anywhere without me.” He ran to the passenger’s side and opened the door.

  “What are you doing?”

He got in. “Cop or no cop, I’m not letting you go down to Soviet Avenue alone to meet some strange woman.” He slammed the door and put on his seatbelt. “It could be a trap.”

“And if it is I’ll take care of it.”

“Correction.” He sat back, glaring at her. “We’ll take care of it.”

  * * * *

“Come on.” Alexis tapped the steering wheel in the dimly lit strip mall on Soviet Avenue.

Kevin glanced around the littered parking lot. “When’s she supposed to be here?”

“Shit, she said seven.” Alexis checked her watch. “It’s seven twenty-three.”

Kevin wiggled in the seat. “Did she describe how she looks?”

  “No, but she sounded black.”

“How does someone sound black? I’m telling you I don’t like this.”

“Well, no one told your ass to come.” Alexis looked out the back window.

Kevin straightened the sleeve of his blazer. “You have to watch these people, all right?”
