She was so happy. Beth lunged at Lucas, wrapping her arms around his neck, giving him a big kiss. “Thank you, thank you, thank you.”

He laughed and squeezed her tight. “Go on, get your coffee. I’ll go see if they took the muffins out of the oven.” He swatted her ass before moving to the other part of the kitchen where half the staff were already working on tonight’s dinner.

Not even saying a word about his smack, Beth poured herself a cup of coffee and moaned as the aroma drifted to her. Behind her, Edward laughed. “I see our pregnant Momma found her coffee.” He wrapped his arms around her and ran his fangs against her skin. “I thought you would have been still been in bed after the late night you and Claire had. Did you two have a good girl’s night?”

She smiled and took a sip of her coffee before answering him. “You just want to know what we did since you guys were banned from the old movie room.” Beth moved to the table and sat down. “But yes ,we had a wonderful time,” she looked down at her cup. “I just wish she could stay longer.”

Tears filled her eyes and at once Lucas came running. “What’s wrong?” He looked from her to Edward.

“Nothing, just me getting a little hormonal here.” She reached over and grabbed one of the muffins from the bowl.

The kitchen door slammed open and Dred and Rock came running in. “What’s wrong?”

“Okay, listen up guys! I’m pregnant I’m going to have moments where I get upset. Things are going to set me off. You are going to have to stop acting like I’m dying.” She picked up her coffee and took another drink.

“Well, I was coming here to tell you that some of the women of our pack would like to talk to you,” Rock leaned down and kissed her cheek. “You can’t blame us for worrying, Beth. You are carrying triplets and the first three months are the most important.”

“I know this Rock. I just feel like I’m a prisoner here. I can’t go outside and the castle is so full, I can’t think. Then there is the fact that Claire is leaving. Do you think you could try and talk them into staying?” She looked from Rock to Dred who both shook their heads.

“You know her mates need to go up North to handle the problems up there. They are the only ones we trust and we are not about to leave you. Even the Alpha for the National Pack asked them to go.” Dred knelt next to her.

“Go talk with the ladies, maybe they can keep you busy for a few hours,” Dred said.

“You told them didn’t you? Damn it Dred, we weren’t going to announce it till I was two months.” She yanked her hand away from his and got up to get more coffee. “I’ll meet them in a hour in the Grand Hall.” She poured her last cup and sighed. “Lucas, could you ask Lancelot if he could serve some of his muffins and drinks, in about an hour? I want to take a shower.”

She turned around to see all four of her men staring at her. “What?”

“You going to tell us about the letter you received yesterday?” Edward asked, leaning back in his chair.

“How did you know?” She frowned and fidgeted. “It was nothing important.”

“You’re lying.” Lucas pushed away from the wall. “Never lie to us, Beth. I’d rather you just tell us it’s none of our business then lie.” She heard the disappointment in his voice and her heart seemed to stutter.

“I’m sorry. You guys have so much to do and I just seem to be in the way. I didn’t want to add to your problems. The letter was from Nora.” Growls and cussing came from all of them.

“Where is the letter? You shouldn’t have even touched it. What if she had sent some kind of poison?” Edward’s eyes seemed to glow.

“Deception was there. He said it was safe and Avril opened it for me.” She held up her hand. “Yes he insisted I show you the letter.” She pulled it out of her pocket and handed it to Edward before stepping out of the kitchen.

Not bothering to look back, Beth whispered. “She found Andy…” With that Beth left heading to their private site. Deception walked next to her, quiet. Knowing she was on the verge of breaking down again.

“You know they are going to follow as soon as they read the letter?” she muttered and looked down at Deception.

“We don’t know if your friend is dead. He could be alive.” Deception said trying to lighten her mood.

“No, not if Nora is as crazy as everyone said she is. Do you think they’ll let me go to the house? I’d like to get out of here for a few hours this afternoon.”

Nodding to the guards at the entrance to their private quarters, Beth made her way to their bedroom. She pushed open the door to see Lucas there waiting for her. “What do you want Lucas?” Beth walked into the bathroom not surprised that Lucas followed her.

“How many other letters have you gotten that we aren’t aware of?” Lucas grabbed hold of her arm and spun her around to face him. He was furious and his whole body shook.

Shrugging off his grip, Beth glared at him for a few seconds before walking back into their bedroom and going to the closet. “For the last month ever week there has been a letter. Each one I made sure Deception and Avril were with me before I touched it.” She knelt and picked up the small box. “Here.” She turned around to see him behind her. Beth thrust the box at him. “Don’t destroy my pictures.”

“Why?” One word, but it held a powerful impact on her.

“Not everything I do needs to be dissected. If the letters were a threat, I would have told you, but they weren’t.” She looked down at her box. “They’re just pictures and stories. Excuse me, I have a group of ladies waiting for me,. I know Dred asked them to see me, feeling sorry for me.”

She exited the closet, but looked over her shoulder. “Oh and I’m going to the house this afternoon, so make the arrangements.”

“You’re what?” Lucas yelled and she didn’t even flinch as she slammed the door, locking it. Oh, she knew he could get in anytime, but most of the time they accepted that she needed the privacy.

Dropping the robe, Beth stepped into the shower. The water was warm and eased the tension in her shoulders as she allowed the tears to fall. Ever since her wedding, each one of her men treated her like a child. Their sex was gentle and vanilla, one at a time. Even when she had begged, they wouldn’t hear about risking their children.

It was time to pull out the big guns. If they wouldn’t stop walking around her like she was a fragile egg, Beth was just going to have to make them snap. As far as Nora was concerned, Dred had been right. She was totally losing it, but what scared her the most was the fact her old friend had met a new friend and a very powerful one, Lucas’ brother.
