“I’m so happy it went well. You deserve this, sweetheart.” A warmth spreads throughout my body as I picture how beautiful she’ll be on our day.
“Thanks, babe. Well, I’m just pulling out of the parking lot, but wanted to tell you how awesome it went. You remembered I’m meeting Jamie for dinner, right?” she asks.
“Yeah, you actually will probably be home before me. Mike and I have a shit load of things to pick out tonight.”
“Yeah, but this is the fun part for you guys. Shopping!” Alexa says.
Laughing at her energy, I kid, “You and your shopping.”
“Uh, yeah. It’s one of my favorite things to do!”
Rolling my eyes, but still with a laughing grin, I assure her, “Trust me, I know.”
She giggles in response, making my heart skip a beat.
“K, babe. Well, I’m about to pull into the restaurant, so I’ll see ya later. Love you.”
With my heart beating just a little quicker from her words, I reply, “I love you too, doll. I’ll see ya soon.”
Chapter Five
– ALEXA –
“Well, it’s about time. I thought you were ditching me!” Jamie says as I walk up to the bar.
“No way! I need this night out more than anyone I know,” I respond with an exhausted sigh, sitting up on one of the stools.
Since Nolan and I started dating, things have happened fast. From the first day I met him, I knew that Nolan was special and that he was someone I could love forever. After only a year, we bought our first house and were engaged. This isn’t typical of most young adults my age, I know. While most nineteen year olds were out clubbing and getting drunk, I was snuggled up watching movies and, well, we all know by now what Nolan and I do for extracurricular activities. Moral of the story–I grew up fast and before my friends which in turn cost me many of them.
I still talk to my childhood friend Amanda every week, but she’s away at college, so I only get to see her on school breaks and during the summer. When it comes to friends and a social life, mine has been dramatically decreasing which is why I’m so thankful for meeting Jamie. Jamie is also an education major and we both student teach at the same elementary school. We hit it off immediately, and it’s a breath of fresh air to finally have a life outside of Nolan and school.
“So how was the appointment?”
“Let’s just say that it’s going to be the most picture perfect wedding. I can officially say that I’m no longer a bridezilla. You should meet this lady, Jamie. She’s like a dream come true!”
“Oh my god, I so want to go with you sometime. I can pretend to be Nolan for you.”
We laugh at the idea, but agree that Jamie can definitely be Nolan’s fill-in. I’m sure Nolan wouldn’t mind.
“Cheers to wedding planning buddies,” Jamie says, holding up the drinks we ordered.
“Cheers.” We clink our glasses together.
Four margaritas later, and way too many appetizers, I’m sitting pretty right about now. I can’t remember the last time I’ve laughed this much, or had this much fun out with a friend. We made it a game to see who could spot the hottest guy in the bar–for Jamie, of course. Even though I’m taken, Jamie isn’t, so I was just helping a friend out by finding some potential and eligible bachelors.
Thankfully we picked the bar right down the street from my house because, yeah, I definitely shouldn’t be driving right now. Jamie, however, lives ten minutes away and has to call a taxi. Even though I am okay with walking home, Jamie insists that the taxi driver drops me off instead. I’m sure Nolan will feel better with this arrangement, as well. This will definitely win Jamie some brownie points in Nolan’s book.
“So the mall after class on Friday, right?” Jamie asks as I step out of the taxi.
“Yes! I’ll meet you in the quad,” I answer, excited to have a new shopping buddy.
“Alright, girl, see ya tomorrow!”
“See ya,” I reply as I wave before turning and heading towards the house.
After punching in the code for the garage door to open, I’m shocked when I see that Nolan is already home. However, when I glance at the time on my watch, I’m not.
Holy crap. It’s after one in the morning!
Knowing that Nolan is probably upstairs sleeping already, I try to keep quiet as I creep through the house, but just as I make it past the kitchen, I hear the TV in the living room on. Turning the corner, I see my incredibly gorgeous fiancé passed out on the couch with his cellphone on his chest and the cable remote in his hand.
I sigh to myself, seeing how peaceful he looks, and wonder how on earth I got so lucky to have this hot, incredible guy not only love me, but want to marry me too. I know I should just gently wake him up and guide him up to bed, but the alcohol in me is rooting for me to wake him up a different way.
Quietly removing the phone from his chest, and turning the television off, I slowly start unbuckling his pants, tugging them down along with his briefs. He’s so sound asleep that he doesn’t move a muscle, and the grumbling that escapes his mouth makes me giggle when I move my mouth over his length. It slowly hardens and comes to life as I slide my mouth up and down his shaft, causing an ache between my legs, getting turned on myself.
“Mmm…baby doll,” Nolan quietly moans as he bunches my hair in his hands.
I’m still not sure if he’s awake or not, but I keep going regardless.
“Mmm…yeah, suck my cock...fuck it with that sweet, dirty mouth.”
Hearing the vulgar words spilling from his mouth makes my eyes widen with shock. I know Nolan has a dirty mouth, but never has he ever been this dirty. I’d be lying if I said it didn’t turn me on a little, though. There’s something hot and sexy about these words coming from his mouth.
Switching my mouth with my hand, I stand up slightly and slip my panties to the side before sliding my opening over his length, warranting a low moan to escape his mouth.
I can’t believe he’s still asleep.
Keeping my pace, I start to unclasp the buttons of his shirt, exposing the rippled chest hiding underneath. In love with his body, my nipples harden as a surge of warmth spreads through my body.
Darn it, he’s so hot.
Like his chest is screaming to be savored, I slide my mouth over his skin, swirling his nipple with my tongue before clamping down on it.
“Oh fuck!” Nolan quickly awakens, eyes bulging from his head, but only pauses for a second before bringing his hands to my cheeks, pulling my face up to his.
Turning me on even more, our tongues slide eagerly together, full of want, need, and passion as his hands move to the back of my head holding me firmly in place, tangling in my hair.
“Oh fuck, yeah,” Nolan growls as his lips slide down to my neck, gently pulling on my hair, giving him full range.
Continuing over my chest, my rhythm begins to quicken, feeling the fire building inside. For a minute, I worry about any markings that he might be leaving, but toss the thought aside when he rips my blouse open, not concerned about ruining it.
“Oh god,” I mumble, unbelievably turned on by his forcefulness.
With one hand he slides the front of my bra down, covers my breast with his mouth, then bites down on my nipple while yanking my hair back even further with the other hand. Between the pleasure and pain, I scream out his name, riding him even harder.
“Oh yeah, doll…fuck me,” Nolan growls, moving back up my body. He swirls his tongue around my ear before nipping at the bottom.
Like his words are my ammunition, I fist his hair with my hands and yank it back. I take the wheel and suck hard and aggressively down his neck and over his chest, making him moan like I’ve never heard him moan before, pulling so hard that he growls out in both pleasure and pain.
“Oh fuck!” Nolan forcefully grabs my hip with one hand while fisting my hair with his other, forcefully ramming me down over his length, causing a smacking noise to erupt between our bodies every time they touch. Soon an immense am
ount of heat fills my body, leaving me nowhere else to go but to the edge.
“Yes…yes! Come with me, baby,” he moans, causing me to fall and unravel into a sea of pleasure. He does the same, gripping me tensely, moaning my name as we come together.
Between heavy pants, Nolan breathes out, “Who the hell are you?” as I collapse on his chest, trying to catch my breath.
I laugh at his statement, shocked myself with what just happened. I guess I can constitute alcohol as being part of the equation.
“Seriously…” he exhales. “Could our sex life get any more fucking amazing?”
Now with a little more air in my lungs, I sit back up and look him in the eyes. “I fricken love you,” I say with so much love and passion before gently kissing his lips.
“Mmm, I love you so much it hurts, baby doll” he whispers against my lips, melting every last bone in my body.
Chapter Six
– NOLAN –
“Morning, doll,” I greet Alexa as she stumbles into the kitchen, definitely not looking her chipper self.
“Morning,” she grumbles in return, desperately taking the mug of coffee from my hands that I have waiting for her. “I have the worst stinkin’ headache ever right now.”
Although I try not to, I can’t help but chuckle at my pitiful girl.
“Rough night last night?” I ask, coming up close to her and resting my hand on her cheek.
“I guess you can say that,” she says, looking up to me with the saddest hopeless eyes ever.
“Well, I’m sorry you’re payin’ for it today, but I’d be lying if I said I didn’t like the state you came home in,” I tell Alexa with a mischievous grin while raising an eyebrow. The sex we had last night was sexy as hell. Waking up to Alexa riding my cock all hot and wild is something I will never complain about. As much as I was getting worried about Alexa being out so late with a girl that I had never met, it was all forgotten and greatly appreciated when I opened my eyes to her mouth clamped on my nipple and my cock deep in her pussy.
Dammit, I’m going to be hard all fucking day thinkin’ about it.
A small smile creeps across her face, remembering what all happened.
“Yeah, that was fun, huh?” She grins.
“Uh, yeah. Tell your friend Jamie that you guys can hangout whenever you want.” I smile, then kiss her lips. “I gotta go, baby doll. Drink lots of water and take two aspirin. Call me if you need me. Love you, princess.”
“I will.” Alexa pecks me again. “Love you too, babe.”
– ALEXA –
Just as Nolan instructed, I take two aspirin and down a full glass of water before filling my coffee mug with another cup of coffee. Today is going to take a lot of caffeine, and even more will power, to make it all day without passing out. Usually I try to always dress nice and look my best, but today is not one of those days. With a pair of Syracuse University sweatpants, one of Nolan’s sweatshirts and a Yankees baseball cap, this is as good as it’s going to get.
I laugh when I see Jamie at the campus coffee shop looking just as rough as I do.
“So, what number are you on?” Jamie jokes, grabbing the coffee cup from the shop employee.
“Um, this will be my third,” I chuckle, taking a sip of mine.
“Yeah, girl, last night was fun, but holy crap, am I feelin’ it today.”
With a grin, I nod my head as I reply, “Yeah, definitely not used to drinking like that anymore. How pitiful is that?”
“Well, seein’ how I don’t look much better, I’d say you’re not that pitiful.”
We walk to our first class together and laugh in between classes about how many times we’ve had to kick each other under our desks to wake the other up throughout the day. I’ve definitely caught myself doing the head jerk a few times, snapping myself back awake.
“Well, we did it!” I point out after our last class.
“How the heck we made it through this day I’ll never know, but props to us,” Jamie laughs.
“Yeah, well, I’m gonna go home and sleep for eternity,” I joke, thankful that the elementary schools were off today for some teacher workshop thing.
“Yes! Me too,” Jamie responds. “I’ll see ya tomorrow, friend.”
Letting out a sigh of relief as I pull into the driveway, I’m exhausted and excited to finally be home, more than ready to collapse onto my bed. I’ve never looked forward to sleeping this much in my life.
– NOLAN –
I haven’t heard from Alexa all day and it’s kind of making me nervous. Usually I get at least one text during the day just checking in and telling me that she misses me, but today–nothing. Thankfully, I don’t have to work late. We’re waiting for everything we ordered to come in, and the contractors are busy getting everything ready, so there’s not much for me to do other than supervise. After checking on everything, I decide to cut out early and go home to see my girl.
A smile creeps across my face when I open the garage door and see her car home, but when I walk into a dark and silent home my anxiety immediately rises. I look in the living room...nothing. I look in the den...nothing.
“Alexa? Doll? Are you home?” I shout, but get nothing in response.
With my nerves now through the roof, I take the stairs two at a time. I start to call out her name again, but lower my voice when I turn the corner to our room and see my beautiful angel sound asleep all curled up in our bed. Exhaling in relief, I sit down next to her side and softly run my fingers along her soft, porcelain skin. Her eyelids start to flutter open...she has to be the most beautiful living creature on this earth.
“Hey, baby,” I softly whisper as she wakes.
Rubbing her eyes and stretching, she softly asks what time it is.
“A little after seven,” I answer.
“Really?” she asks. “It’s that late already?”
I nod my head yes. “Are you feeling okay?” I use the back of my hand to feel her cheek, then forehead, noticing that she’s a little flushed.
“No, I still feel like crap, and now I’m getting all congested,” Alexa replies, sounding a little hoarse.
On cue, she lets out a nasty congested cough and my heart aches, seeing my beautiful girl not feeling well.
“Sounds like you’re getting sick, doll.” I caress her cheek with my thumb. “Have you eaten anything? I can get you some soup?”
“Not since this morning,” she answers somberly.
“I’ll go down to the cafe right now and get you some,” I tell her before kissing her forehead and standing up. “Get some rest, love, I’ll be right back.”
“Pratt!” I hear my last name being called from behind me.
Turning around to see who it is, I find Alexa’s ex, Collin, standing behind me.
“Hey, what’s up, man?” I greet him, extending my hand. Collin is a good guy and has always treated Alexa and I with respect. “How’s the wife?” I ask. He and his wife Summer just got married not long ago. Alexa and I were in attendance.
“She’s good. Married life is great.” He smiles. “Your wedding is coming up soon,” he adds.
I nod my head with a smile. “It is. Alexa actually just hired a wedding planner, so things are really starting to get underway.”
Collin chuckles. “I’m sure Alexa won’t spare any details. She has a pretty extravagant mind,” he says with a sarcastic grin.
“That she does,” I agree, matching his grin.
I excuse myself for a moment when I hear my order number called, notifying me that Alexa’s soup is ready, then return to where Collin is still waiting in line.
“Well, it was nice to see ya, man, but I gotta get home. Alexa’s not feelin’ well, so I just stopped to get her some soup quick.”
“Yeah, no worries. Get home to your girl,” Collin says like it’s no big deal. “Tell Alexa I said hello and to feel better.”
“I will. Take care.”
“You too, bro.”
When I return home, Alexa is curled up
on the couch watching her reality shows. The end table is already covered with tissues and cough drop wrappers.
“What’re you doin’ out of bed?” I ask, pulling a bowl down from a cupboard.
She starts to reply, but is interrupted by a coughing attack. I quickly grab a glass of water and run it to her side. After downing half of it, she can finally find her words. “I needed to get up, but collapsed again when I saw the couch.”
Although there could never be a day that Alexa didn’t look beautiful to me, right now she looks so worn out and pitiful that all I can think about doing is cradling her in my arms and rocking her back to sleep. I bring my hand to her cheek, and she nestles in and closes her eyes, happy with the comfort. Seeing her so sick and vulnerable makes my heart break in a million pieces. I wish I could just transfer her illness to me instead. I’d rather be sicker than sick if it meant that she wasn’t.
“Would you like your soup?” I softly ask. “It’s Italian wedding, your favorite.”
Alexa’s eyes slowly open as she smiles. “Mmm, sounds good,” she responds in a hoarse voice.
After caressing her cheek once more with my thumb and gently kissing her forehead, I quickly get the bowl of soup off the counter, then grab the crackers, a spoon, and one of the TV trays. Once everything is set up in front of her, I fluff and prop the pillows on the couch, making sure she’s comfortable.
“Do you need anything else, love?”
Having just taken a bite of her soup, she smiles and shakes her head no. “No thanks,” she says after swallowing.
“Alright, I’m gonna go take a quick shower, but here’s your cellphone. I’ll keep mine on the bathroom counter. Call me if you need anything.”
Giving me an ‘are you kidding me?’ grin while tilting her head to the side, she assures me, “I think I’ll be fine, but thanks.”
I let out a little chuckle. She looks so cute, and I may have been just a little over the top with my catering to her, but she’s my girl. That’s what I do.
