Sadie was no longer a slave to perfection, Christopher didn’t have to fly anymore, and the twins got to talk at the same time. I’m not going to lie. I didn’t miss only one of them being able to talk at a time. It was much more peaceful that way.
“It never would have been possible without you, Daniel. Because of your breaking the curse, I got the only thing I ever wanted and that was happiness without repercussions,” I told him, crying happy tears and guess what? Nothing bad happened.
“I like that I’m the reason you’re happy,” he said, leaning over and kissing my cheek.
We there in silence just enjoying each other’s company and it felt like I was exactly where I was supposed to be. It felt like fate had taken over and I was more than happy to let it.
I watched as Abigail and Agnes fought over who should wear the infamous black dress, but this time they both could scream and yell.
Smoke started to fill the air. Waving it away from my face, I turned to see Sadie running out of the house with a pot. She burned something up. Again.
“Look, Mal, I burned something!” she said, jumping up and down like a pogo stick.
“I see, Sadie. That’s great, although I don’t think Grandma Misty is going to be as happy,” I told her, holding my nose.
“Yeah, you’re right. You think she’ll yell at me for making a mistake?” she asked with hopeful eyes.
The answer was no. I didn't think Grandma Misty was going to yell at her because Sadie was her favorite, but I knew what she wanted to hear. “Yes, I think she's going to be very mad at you and tell you how big of a mistake this was,” I told her, making her smile.
“I’m going to go sit on the porch and wait for her. She should be home any minute,” Sadie said, running around the front of the house.
“Was she loved enough as a child?” Daniel asked as I was taking a gulp my sweet tea causing me to laugh so hard tea sprayed from my nose.
“Always so ladylike, Suzie Q,” Daniel said, tossing a napkin at my face.
“Well, you know me,” I told him, sticking my hand in my tea and flicking some on his face. “You are not going to get away with that,” he said, getting up and grabbing a full pitcher.
He was going to try and pour that on my head. “Daniel, don't do it. I just washed my hair,” I said, getting up and running away, but I wasn't fast enough. He dumped the cold liquid on my head making me trip and fall on my face.

“Malady, get up,” a voice said, but the voice wasn't Daniel. I knew that because for one he called me Suzie Q and it was a woman. Opening my eyes, I saw that I was in my room not in the backyard drinking sweet tea with Daniel and being all happy. I was in my bed soaked with ice cold water, and all of my family members were standing over me with bowls.
“What are you guys doing?” I asked, shaking the crushed ice out of my hair.
I had just taken part in an involuntary ice bucket challenge.
“Grandma Misty wants to have movie night,” Agnes said, laughing.
“Practical Magic again?” I asked.
They all answered with nods. “Why couldn’t you guys wake me up like normal people?
“We tried, but you wouldn’t budge. We thought you were dead for a moment. Abigail thought of the ice cold water.
“Thanks, Abby. You're the best. I'll be down in a few, guys,” I told them, getting off my bed as they left my room.
Finding warm, dry clothes, I quickly changed and ran my hands over my hair magically drying it. I was still very cursed, so that meant Grandma Misty didn’t have to worry about burning all of her popcorn or her DVD not playing because I was not a happy camper. I wished that dream would have been true. I just wanted to be happy, was that too much to ask?
All signs pointed to the answer being yes.
After all, I was named Malady and it meant bad.
After I got ready, I walked down the stairs and sat next to Agnes as Grandma Misty's favorite movie started.
I wasn’t sure which one was more depressing, never getting to be truly happy or watching Practical Magic again.
I just went with Practical Magic.
