Gavin didn’t say anything.
I pushed on. “Like an ex-girlfriend.” Still nothing. An icy feeling was settling in my stomach and I fought back the suspicions that wanted to creep forward. “It is an ex, right?”
Gavin sighed and pushed himself up on his elbows. He turned towards me. “You really want to know?”
I couldn’t read his face. There was something closed off about his expression, and it frightened me. Part of me said I didn’t want to know, that it was going to be something I couldn’t handle, but another part of me said I had to face it so I could deal. I nodded.
“SC is for a girl. One who does have my heart.”
I was going to throw up.
“SC stands for Skylar Camille. She’s my daughter.”
