Unbridled Passion: A Riverton Crossing Novel Page 11

by Savannah Maris

The hostess wrote something down before she turned. “Follow me.”

Sam watched the sway of her ass as he followed her to the table with Vanessa and Nathan following him. When he looked up, Carrie noticed them walking to her section and her eyes widened. Nope, didn’t miss that. Didn’t miss her hand on the shoulder of the guy whose order she was taking, either. The hostess touched his arm and slipped a piece of paper into his hand effectively bringing his attention to her. Sam smiled.

  “What’s your name, honey?”

  Her face flushed. “Jennifer.”

“Nice to meet you, Jennifer.” He raised his eyes to find Carrie staring straight at him, so he winked at her across the room.

“If you need anything until Carrie can get over here, just let me know.” A flirtatious smile graced her face as she walked past.

Vanessa sat down and started looking at the menu while Nathan stood close enough to Sam to speak without anyone else hearing. “You’re playing with fire.”

Sam shrugged while he kept his eyes locked on Carrie.

“You can’t bring some girl back to Vanessa’s. That’s not right, man.”

Sam turned. “Who said anything about tonight? I’m paving the way for tomorrow when you’re on a double date with Thomas and Cat.”

“Then are you here for Carrie or Jennifer?”

Sam shrugged again. “Don’t know yet. I thought Carrie, but she’s having fun flirting, so maybe she just enjoys that part of her job. Maybe tomorrow night’s friend hasn’t shown up yet.”

“Flirting may be part of her job, but that death stare she gave Jennifer isn’t.”

  “What are you talking about?”

Nathan nodded in Carrie’s direction. “Here she comes.”

Sam quickly stuffed the piece of paper into his pants pocket before Carrie got close to their table.

“Hey, sexy, what’s your pleasure tonight?” Carrie leaned into Sam.

“Preferably you, but we’ll take a couple of beers.” Sam grinned at her and wiggled his brows.

Nathan chuckled at Vanessa’s reaction to Sam’s remark. “A glass of white wine for the lady, please.”

“You got it.” Carrie turned her back toward Nathan and Vanessa so she was facing Sam who had his arms crossed on the table. “You hanging around awhile tonight?”

Sam cut his eyes toward Nathan. “Probably not too late tonight, but I can be back tomorrow. You working?”

“Let me put this drink order in, and I’ll check my schedule.”

Several minutes later, Carrie came back with three waters, two beers, and a glass of wine. “Do y’all want to put in a food order or wait awhile?”

The guys looked at Vanessa to see what she wanted to do. “Can we wait a little while? I want to enjoy the atmosphere.” They nodded.

Carrie smiled. “I can come back right before I go on break so it’ll be ready when I get back. How’s that?”

One side of Sam’s mouth tilted up. “When do you go on break?”

Carrie looked at her watch. “In fifteen minutes.”

  “Want some company?”

Carrie’s eyes scanned his face and sparkled before she bit her bottom lip. “That could be fun.”

Sam leaned toward her and whispered into her ear, “I’ll make it fun.” A shiver ran through her as her face flushed, and he smiled, knowing she’d be thinking of him for a while.

Carrie cleared her throat. “I’ll be back in a few minutes to get your orders then.” She walked off without turning to look back, and Sam watched her ass in the tight shorts. I love to watch a woman’s ass.

“Is that your girlfriend, Sam?” Vanessa’s voice sounded so innocent.

Sam chuckled. “Nah, I’m not into the girlfriend thing right now.”

“Baby, Sam’s into playing the field. He hasn’t found someone as wonderful as you yet.” Nathan gently pressed his lips against hers.

Sam laughed. “Yeah, a few months ago your boy, here, was right beside me.” Sam tipped his head toward Nathan.

Vanessa looked at Nathan with sadness in her eyes. “Is that what you want? To play the field?”

Nathan narrowed his eyes at Sam before he turned his smile toward Vanessa. “Not since I met you. Ness, you’re all I want. Don’t listen to Sam. He’s just mad because I found you first.” Nathan picked up her hands and brought them to his lips.

Sam was smiling behind his beer when Carrie walked up. “Y’all ready to order?” Everyone placed their order, and Nathan rolled his eyes when Vanessa ordered a salad. Carrie wrote everything down and turned her attention to Sam. “If you were serious about my break, meet me at the hallway where the bathrooms are in five minutes.”

When she walked off, Sam turned toward Nathan and Vanessa. “Can you two behave for ten minutes, please? Don’t do something that’s going to get either of you into trouble.” He held up both hands with his fingers spread wide. “Ten minutes.”

“We’re in a public place, man. We can’t do anything sitting in the middle of a damn bar.” Sam cocked an eyebrow and opened his mouth to speak, but Nathan just pointed to the door. “Go.”

Sam caught up with Carrie in the hallway. She didn’t even look to make sure he was following her. Yeah, she had his attention and fucking knew it. A small grin drew his lips up watching the sway of her ass. She walked through the door and placed a brick to hold it open. She turned and barely looked at Sam before he was walking her to the brick wall beside the door.

The heat in his eyes grew with each step he took. “Do you bring all the guys on break?”

Carrie shook her head. “No, I just thought we had a connection.”

A cocky grin tilted Sam’s lips. “Hmm, is that what this is? I want a different kind of connection.”

She batted her eyelashes at him. “What’s your name anyway?”

“Sam, and I think you know my name, Carrie.”

He stopped when he had her pinned against the wall, never taking his eyes off her. “Now, that you have me out here, what were you planning on doing with me?”

He watched her throat constrict as she swallowed. “See if your kiss can hold up to the promise in your eyes.”

Sam bent and lifted her with his hands just below her ass as she wrapped her legs around him. “Is that all you want, a kiss?” She was looking into his eyes as she bit her lip and nodded. “What if I want more than a kiss?”

Carrie whimpered as her core contracted. “I don’t know you.”

“I aim to change that.” Sam slipped his hand behind her head as his lips crashed down on hers. Her arms flung around his neck to hold tight while her whimpers turned into moans as she matched his fervor. Sam slipped his tongue into her mouth as hers easily mingled with his. When she sucked on his, all thoughts went south. How good would that feel on his dick? He rocked his hard cock into her core and caught her gasp in his mouth. Yes. He knew she wouldn’t disappoint.

He broke the kiss so they could catch their breaths as he rested his forehead on hers. “Schedule,” he said between breaths, “what’s your schedule tomorrow?”

“I get off at five,” she managed to get out between pants.

Sam smirked. “No, you leave work at five. You’ll get off sometime after that.” He slid an arm between them and pressed the seam of her jean shorts right into her clit, and her thighs tensed.

“Sam…” she whispered with her eyes still closed.

“I’ll be here before your shift ends. I’ll be on my bike. Will that be a problem?”

  “Bike?”

“Look at me.” Sam waited for her to comply and saw her eyes were dilated. “My motorcycle.”

“Oh, yeah. That’s fine as long as you have an extra helmet.”

“I’ll make sure you have one.” He touched the seam of her shorts again. “That feeling flowing through you is mine.” He nipped her earlobe. “Don’t touch yourself or give it away.” He moved to look her in the eyes again. “I started it, and I’ll take care of it. Do you think you can ho
ld on until tomorrow?”

She closed her eyes and rolled her hips to cause the friction with his hand that she needed. “Please, Sam. You don’t understand.”

He pushed his hard cock against her. “Oh, sweetheart, I understand plenty. Save it until tomorrow, okay?”

“Yes, okay. That is not how I saw this ending.”

“I don’t have time tonight to take proper care of you, but tomorrow we can have all night.”

Carrie’s eyes widened as she nodded and rolled her lips inside her mouth. Sam eased her to the ground, letting her slide along his cock just as the alarm was going off on her phone.

  “Break’s over.”

“When are you telling me about your piercing?”

“I thought we’d talk tonight before we go to sleep.”

“You know we have to leave the door open, right?”

Nathan rolled his eyes. “How about we open it after we talk?”

“We can talk in another room,” Vanessa suggested.

  Nathan shrugged. “I guess.”

A hand clamped down on Nathan’s shoulder. “Dinner should be here in a minute.”

Nathan looked at Sam with humor in his eyes. “That didn’t take long.”

“That’s because I just wanted to whet her appetite.” Sam winked before he took a long pull from his beer.

Vanessa’s face turned a bright shade of pink as she averted her eyes from the guys. Nathan put his arm across the back of her chair. “Ness, I’m just giving him a hard time. Sam knows what he’s doing.” He pulled her close and kissed the side of her head.

“Dinner’s up,” Carrie said as she placed a stand beside the table. Her face was still flushed, and she couldn’t keep from cutting her eyes toward Sam. Each time she did, she bit her lip and Sam smirked.

Nathan flashed a devilish smile. “So, you’ve agreed to meet up with him tomorrow night, Carrie?”

Carrie returned a big smile then turned more serious when she looked at Sam. “Yeah, if he shows.”

Sam held her stare. “I’ll show.” As she turned to leave, he caught her arm. “Keep your word.”

Her face brightened. “I will. I’ve got to check on my other tables. I’ll be back.”

  Sam nodded.

“Dude, what the hell did you do to her. She’s all flustered.”

“Not as much as I wanted to do to her. Sorry, Vanessa.”

  Nathan cocked a brow.

  “I kissed her, okay?”

“I think it was more than that.” Nathan chuckled.

Sam leveled him with a stare. “Nathan…” he warned.

Nathan held his hands up. “Okay, okay.”

Sam took a deep breath. “What time are Thomas and Cat getting to Vanessa’s?”

Nathan shrugged. “He said he was going to catch a few hours sleep then they’d come down. So, three-ish.”

“That works. I need to be back here before five.”

Vanessa cocked her head to the side with a look of confusion on her face. “So, you just asked her to sleep with you, and she agreed?”

Both Nathan and Sam spewed their beer to the side of the table—Sam coughing, and Nathan laughing. He quickly cupped her face. “I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to laugh. You’ve just been so sheltered.”

“No, Vanessa. I asked her to go out with me after her shift. She agreed, but we’ll work out what we’re going to do when I see her tomorrow.”

“Oh, so why don’t y’all join us back at the Seafood Shack?”

Sam gave Nathan a pained look, and Nathan was scrambling to figure out how to field this with her. “Ness, they don’t have the restrictions put on them that we do. If I could have just taken you on dates, believe me, we would’ve done things where we could be alone. Where we’ve done this,” he said as he pointed between them, “the old-fashioned way, they don’t have to.”

“I’m sorry, Nathan. That’s all my fault.”

He entwined their fingers and brought her hand to his lips. “Vanessa, it’s just going to make things that much better when we can really be together.”

She blinked her eyes. “You really think so?”

  “I know so.”

They finished their meals, and the DJ played “Wanted” by Hunter Hayes. Nathan held out his hand to Vanessa. “Dance with me?” She nodded, and he led her to the dance floor where he could hold her close and feel her body against his. His hand could rest low on her back and even push the edge of propriety by letting a couple fingers slip toward her ass. What he wouldn’t give just to be able to grab it. He briefly closed his eyes just relishing the feel of her. His eyes quickly opened when he felt her hand run up the back of his head and scrape her nails back down. A soft moan left him as he fought to keep his eyes open while he pulled her closer.

“That’s one of my turn-ons, baby. I don’t know if you want to do that much longer.”

Her hand froze as she pulled back. “Are you serious?”

He chuckled. “If you do that too many more times, every person in here is going to see how hard I am. In three weeks, you can do that all you want. In fact, I’ll encourage it every day.”

She moved back in close so she could speak directly into his ear. “Will you tell me what else turns you on?”

“Baby, right now all you have to do is breathe and I’m turned on. But, yeah, because I want to know yours too.”

She giggled. “I guess we’re going to find those out together because I’m learning with your touches.”

The song was coming to an end when he quickly said, “Tell me one now.”

“Your hand in the small of my back.”

  “You like that?”

She bit her lip and nodded.

He placed his hand at the small of her back and guided her to their table. As they approached, Carrie was standing close to Sam talking with serious looks on their faces. When she saw them coming, she took a step back.

“When is your next break?” Sam asked.

Carrie shook her head. “I get off, I mean, my shift ends in thirty minutes.”

Sam smiled. “You want to hang with us for a while?”

“Thanks for the offer, but I can’t tonight. I need to get home. Plus, I’m exhausted.”

“Fair enough. Come get me. I want to walk you to your car.”

Carrie’s eyes widened as she shook her head. “That’s not necessary.”

“I didn’t say it was necessary. I said I want to.”

From the look in Sam’s eyes, Nathan knew he didn’t like Carrie’s answers. “Carrie, why don’t you bring us our check before you leave? We should be going too,” Nathan interrupted.

She nodded and walked to the servers’ station while Sam followed her path with his eyes.

  “Dude, what’s wrong with you?”

“I don’t want her walking in a dark parking lot alone. It’s not safe.”

“Don’t you think one of the bouncers will walk with her?”

“I want to remind her how much fun we’re going to have tomorrow. I don’t want her getting cold feet.”

Nathan shook his head. “If she does, I’m sure you won’t have any trouble making a new friend.”

“I hope I won’t need a new friend,” Sam said as he moved to follow Carrie.

Nathan nodded. “We’ll meet you out front.”

  25

“How long do you think Sam’s going to be?”

“I’m sure he’s just giving her a proper goodbye. He should be here any minute.” Nathan turned toward the parking lot and saw Sam jogging toward them. “There he is. Let’s go.”

Nathan and Vanessa walked in the direction of the parking garage as Sam caught up with them at the corner. “Dude, you’re breathing hard. Do we need to start hitting the gym on our days off again?”

“Funny, but it may not be a bad idea,” Sam said as he caught his breath.

“We can all go for a run on the beach in the morning. Max and I go every day.”

  Nathan looked down at
her. “Sounds fun. You game, Sam?”

“Sure. I need to expend some energy somehow.” A small grin stretched one side of his mouth.

The ride back to Edisto Island was long and dark. Vanessa’s head rested on Nathan’s shoulder, so he glanced to make sure she was asleep. “What’s got you so contemplative, Sam?”

Sam turned his head toward Nathan as a smile crossed his face when he nodded toward Vanessa. “She’s good for you.”

“Yeah, but the bigger question is am I good for her?”

“I think you’re the best thing that could’ve happened to her. You’ll help her as well as protect her and love her fiercely.” Sam chuckled. “Just take it easy when you finally get her in bed.”

Nathan shook his head. “As soon as she gives me the green light, I hope we’re near a bed. Otherwise, it’ll be the first surface we come to.” He moved in his seat as best as he could without waking her. He needed to quit thinking about sex and Vanessa in the same sentence, so he changed the subject. “So, what happened with Carrie?”

  “I don’t know.” A rush of air left Sam’s body. “I mean, I know, but…”

“Sam, you’re not making sense. What happened when you went with her on break?”

“I kissed her, and seriously thought about fucking her against the wall of the bar like a damn college kid. Yes, I like to party. Yes, I like to have fun. Yes, I don’t do strings, but I know how to treat a woman, and that wasn’t it. Damn, she begged me to finish her and I wouldn’t.” Sam ran a hand down his face and cut his eyes to Nathan. “I told her I wanted to finish it tomorrow, so she couldn’t touch herself, and she agreed.”

Nathan mouth slightly fell open. He closed it and swallowed. “I can’t believe she agreed to that shit. Damn, you sound like Evan.” He shook his head. “That’s harsh, man.”

“I was going to finish her when we walked to her car, but halfway there she asked me not to go any farther. I watched her get into her car and drive in the opposite damn direction. I don’t even have her damn phone number to call her.” Sam massaged his forehead. “So, why am I deep in thought? Because I think she’ll call in sick to work tomorrow.”
