“I have no idea what you’re talking about.” His mother said in her high society voice. “If you don’t get out of my house I’ll call the police.”

“Go ahead, call them. I’m sure they’ll be very interested to learn how my parents, my ex-wife, my brother and their accomplices tried to have me convicted of crimes I didn’t commit. I’m sure they will find your plans for my incarceration and murder very interesting.”

“I have no idea how you came up with those lies. There is no inheritance or a plan to have you incarcerated. I want you out of my house.” His mother’s face was red with fury but her eyes were panicked.

“Oh, that’s not all I’ve got to tell the cops, Cora. Imagine their disgust when they hear how my brother and father planned to get my wife pregnant so the child would be my heir in case my lawyers succeeded in having all of you excluded.”

“Lies!” The ass shouted as his wife gave him a confused look.

“This is interesting. You and Jerry didn’t inform her of your plan, did you?” Scar didn’t wait for him to answer. “Your dearest husband fucked my ex-wife, well at the time she wasn’t my ex yet, she was still my wife, and got her pregnant. They have a son but don’t worry, both of them signed away their rights and the child has been adopted into a good family.”

She gave a horrified gasp, swung around and shook her head as if she couldn’t believe what she had heard. But one look at his guilty face was enough. Her back straightened and then her hand swung up and hit him square on the side of his face. The weak asshole wobbled but stayed upright.

“You pig. How could you? I should have known when I saw how you salivated after that slut. I should have listened to my father. I never should have married you.”

“Cora, I’m sorry, I’m so sorry. It meant nothing. We just wanted to ensure there was someone of our blood to inherit should anything go wrong with the plan. I’m so sorry. Please forgive me.” He begged.

“I want you out of my house. All of you. I never want to see any of you ever again.”

Scar smiled and shook his head. “So very predictable, and don’t worry, I want nothing to do with either of you or with Jerry.”

Turning to walk out he looked over his shoulder and all the mirth had been wiped from his face. “Don’t ever cross my path again. You’ll regret it.”

Once outside he looked out over the roofs of the houses at the blue of the ocean and smiled. It was done. He somehow felt lighter and better than he had in years.

“Right, brothers, now on to the next one.” He said with a grin as they got on their bikes and rode away. Finally he could put that part of his life behind him.

At the lawyers offices he went inside with Claw while Rav stayed outside to watch over their bikes. He hoped like hell it wasn’t going to take long.

“Mr Quinn, please follow me, Mr O’Shea is ready for you.” The secretary broke the silence.

“Want me to come in with you, brother?” Claw asked quietly and Scar nodded.

Without another word they followed her. The lawyer was younger than he had expected. For some reason he had thought it would be an old guy, instead he looked to be in his mid-forties.

“Mr Quinn, I’m Donald O’Shea, your grandfather’s lawyer. It’s good to finally meet you.”

Scar shook his hand but didn’t introduce Claw who stayed close to the door watching his back.

“Can we get this done as quick as possible, Mr O’Shea? I have a lot to do today before I leave the city.”

“Absolutely. Please, have a seat and we’ll get started.” O’Shea agreed with a sharp nod.

An hour later it was done. He was now the owner of a massive property at Zinkwazi Beach and according to the photographs it was in fact right on the beach. Not only did he have a beach house he had a penthouse apartment in a beach front high rise in Durban. And a lot of money in investments and in the bank. He held the heavy manila envelope with keys, key cards and a whole slew of credit and debit cards, all in his name, in one hand as he thanked O’Shea, shook his hand and then followed Claw out of the office and building.

“We done here?” Rav asked as soon as they walked up to him where he sat on his bike in the bright sunshine.

“We are, brother.” Claw answered for him. “Our brother here is now a bonafide millionaire with a beach house and a fucking penthouse.” Claw laughed at Scar’s disgusted face. “Brother, you know I’m only teasing because you make it so fucking easy.”

Scar had to laugh. “Fuck, I didn’t expect this at all. I thought it was going to be a few hundred thousand and that would be it. This is a total mind fuck, let me tell you.”

“I like the sound of the beach house.” Rav grinned and winked. “Where is it and when are we heading out to where ever it is to check it out?”

“It’s in Zinkwazi which is on the way to Richards Bay. I might just take a couple of days to check it out.” Scar was suddenly excited to see what exactly his grandfather had left him.

“Dibs I ride along.” Rav raised his hand as if he was back in school.

They laughed while Scar tucked the manila envelope into his saddlebag and locked it. Losing that shit would be a disaster as the envelope contained passwords and bank account numbers and shit.

Back at the compound he immediately went to see Hotdog. He was still going to leave with the nomads but he would be taking a side trip on their way back from the RB compound.

Right now though he needed the information on the Richards Bay club that he and Hotdog had talked about.

He had a job to do for Hawk and he would see it through before checking out his beach house.

  Fuck. His beach house.

He sounded like some rich entitled little fuck.

  CHAPTER EIGHTEEN

  Chris

We had been working our asses off for the last five weeks to get the pub ready to open.

Leo had been in and out because she now had a new-born to take care of. I still had a hard time getting my head around how cold hearted and evil Scar’s ex had been. To have a child with his father and then pretend that it was his was evil, so very evil.

The poor baby had been adopted by Leo and Wolf and I’ve never seen either one of them happier. Quinn, they had given him his uncle’s surname, was the luckiest boy to have them as his parents and to have Scar as his uncle.

But Scar wasn’t around anymore. He had left right after settling Quinn with his new parents. I didn’t ask about him and could only speculate about his reasons for leaving. I did overhear Jagger saying that he was riding with the Nomads on some mission or another.

All my attention was focused on the pub and my studies while Leo and Wolf settled down with their baby boy. Most of the work had fallen on my shoulders but I didn’t’ mind. Unfortunately most days I still felt as if I was being watched. But I shrugged it off.

The renovations were done at warp speed. Leo had been sneaky enough to insist on the existing liquor licence to be included in the sale of the property. So no jumping through hoops to try and get one in the short time we had available before we opened.

Today was the grand opening of The Thirsty Dog country pub and grill. Leo and I had had a meeting with DC and Hawk about our guest list. We had to ensure everyone who was important to the club was invited. And boy did we end up with one hell of a long list.

It was going to be a huge party and I hoped like hell the bastards didn’t wreck our brand new pub. Tonight we wouldn’t be serving food from our menu because our kitchen would have been overwhelmed. Instead we were having a braai. The serving tables on our new deck would soon be groaning under the weight of all the salads and bread and all sorts of yummy stuff our chef and her staff had made. Mienkie, our new chef, turned out to be a treasure. Hermien de Waal, or Mienkie as she liked to be called, came highly recommended by Wimpie, the owner of Zeffers out at Kosmos in Hartebeespoort. He sang her praises to high heaven and the bonus was that she wasn’t scared off by the fact that it w
as essentially going to be a biker hangout. Her grin had said she was up for the challenge.

Along with the kitchen staff we had hired two bartenders and enough waiters for two shifts. But they weren’t the only staff we had hired.

When we realised that we had almost six acres of property to maintain we knew we would need an onsite gardener. And when Jacob Hermans arrived at our gate to give us a quote to clean up the garden we liked him instantly. He was about Leo’s age and had a small garden service company but due to the economic situation his clients had dwindled and he was desperate for work. When Leo offered him a permanent job he had jumped at it. He had been battling to keep his head above water as his wife had just had a baby and had lost her job. Leo immediately told him to bring his wife over to meet us. We liked the sweet young girl and her pretty little baby girl. Leo was very pleased when she found out Judy was a nursery school teacher and by the glint in her eye I knew she was scheming.

And I was right. She had hired Judy as Quinn’s nanny for when Leo brought him with her to the pub. The rest of the time he was with his Mumma or one of his grannies. The lucky boy had quite a few of those.

The rundown cottage on the property had been renovated for Jacob and his family and we now had not only a gardener and a nanny, but someone who’d keep an eye when we went home every night. Mienkie was excited to have a gardener at her beck and call. She and Jacob had had long discussions about starting a kitchen garden. She wanted to have fresh produce to use in some of her dishes and we were happy to let them sort it out between them.

I grinned every time I heard the two arguing about vegetables and shit. They sounded like a brother and sister the way they carried on.

Slowly but surely we were building a little family, and I loved it. No one here looked at me funny, gossiped about me or sniggered behind my back. It was flippen amazing.

I had resigned from the clubhouse bar the moment Leo signed the papers for the property and received the keys. Well, I tried to resign but Hawk wouldn’t hear of it. He said as far as he was concerned I still worked for the club, just at a new location. When I brought it up with Leo she just shrugged and said ‘club business’ and that was that. Well not really, I got one hell of a hike in salary and a new designation. I was no longer a lowly bartender. I was the assistant manager of The Thirsty Dog.

And I flippen loved it. Loved it. Loved it. Loved it.

Without looking for it I had found my niche. Somewhere I was very happy to be.

And today was opening night, finally. Leo and I were nervous as hell and running around doing last minute stuff before our guests started arriving.

We had hired a band for the night and had been very lucky to get them. They were about to head to the States after recently signing with a record label. I loved their music and I knew the brothers had been to their shows and liked them as well. I think the band had been intrigued by the fact that a bunch of bikers were fans when they agreed to do the gig. Their roadies had set up earlier and the band was running through a final sound check. I did one final check outside before coming back inside and checked that our staff was ready. Again.

  Damn, I was so nervous.

“Chris! Come on up here, girl.” Leo called from the stairs leading to the upper floor that we hadn’t renovated, yet. We had plans for it but it had to wait. We had to earn some money first.

Taking one last look over the bar I met the eyes of our bartenders who both grinned and gave me broad winks. I rolled my eyes at them then ran up the stairs.

“We need to get dressed before we’re run off our feet when the bikes start rolling in. I’ve showered already. It’s your turn to have a quick one while I get our clothes ready.”

“I brought some clean clothes, it’s in my bag.” Looking around for my bag I spotted two boxes on her desk. “What’s this?”

“I don’t want us to wear Iron Dogz MC tanks or tees tonight. This is our pub and we’ll be wearing the shit I had designed for us. The staff should be getting their tees right about now.” She gave me a very sly grin. “Sorry I didn’t tell you, I didn’t think it was going to be ready for tonight. The guy who did them rushed the order for me and delivered only a couple of minutes ago.”

  “Show me.”

‘Okay, so, we’re going with black since black shows off the logo the best. Oh, that’s right, I forgot to tell you, we’ve now got a logo.” She was almost dancing in place she was so excited.

“And who do we have to thank for the logo?” I asked as I tried to hide my laugh.

“Our girl Gail came up with it. She popped in with her little girls to visit Quinn while you were working on that assignment last week and saw me doodling. A day later she came to me with her idea and boom. We had a logo. Gail is one very clever lady. She wants us to think about merchandising the name sometime in the future. She’s busy working on Ice to get the club into merchandising their name as well. Not just support t-shirts and shit for the sluts.” Leo widened her eyes at me. “Actually she’s going to insist that the bitches don’t have the right to wear Property of Iron Dogz MC tanks. According to her they should stick to support tanks and the tanks and tees from Moonlight and Iron Kisses.” Leo gave me huge eyes and pulled a shocked face.

I laughed and shook my head. “I’ll believe it when I see it. They’ve been wearing those club tanks for years. I can’t see Hawk agreeing to changing it.”

Leo gave an evil grin. “She has DC on her side.”

I laughed outright. “Well then, I would say the sluts had better say bye-bye to their tanks.”

“You know it, girl.” Leo said as she handed me a cardboard box. “Go on, open it.”

Setting the box on my desk I reached for the letter opener and sliced through the tape then opened the box. Pulling out the tissue paper I stared at what was revealed. My mouth was hanging open in shocked surprise. Then I shook my head.

“We can’t do this!” I half shouted at a laughing Leo. “They’re going to kill us when they see it!”

“Go on you sissy. Take it out of the box.” She prompted.

I reached in and drew out the soft black leather, revealing a very girly kutte. Flippen kuttes! She wanted us to wear kuttes.

Lord, save us tonight, I prayed silently as I laid it out on the desk. They looked exactly like the real deal. My name was embroidered in bright pink on a patch on the left hand side of the kutte. Underneath it was a Thirsty Dog Original patch. On the right hand side of the kutte was a patch with Bossy and Vice President underneath it. What? I raised shocked eyes to her and she laughed twirling a finger instructing me to turn the kutte over. With my breath in my throat I turned it over.

  Bloody hell.

The top rocker said Thirsty Dog, underneath it a snarling dog held a bright pink blinged out stiletto pump in his teeth as if drinking from it. Brutus, they had put flippen Brutus wrecking one of my pumps on the kutte. Bitches. Lovely, wonderful, amazing bitches. The bottom rocker said Johannesburg, South Africa.

I was stunned, absolutely stunned. Shaking my head I looked up then started to smile really, really wide. “I love it. I love that you put my boy in your logo.”

“Not my logo, our logo.” Leo said softly. “There’s no way I could have done all of this without you. Back home I had Jamie to help and bounce shit off of. Until you became my friend I had no one here. I’m so freaking pleased to have met you when I did.” She sniffed then shook her head. “Enough of this sniffly shit. Get in the shower we don’t have much time left to get pretty.”

About twenty minutes later we stood next to each other and stared into the big floor length mirror we had in the office.

“We look flippen hot, like biker bitches on steroids hot.” I said then held my arm next to Leo’s. “I need to get some more ink. My arms look naked compared to yours.”

“We’ll chat to DC once this opening is behind us and see about getting some work done on those naked arms of yours.” Leo bobbed her eyebrows at me and I di
d the same back at her.

We had gone totally crazy on our hair and had teased and curled it into ‘just got out of bed after hot sex’ wild. Our make-up was dark and smokey with heavy wings elongating our eyes. A deep dark pink was painted over our lips and now I knew why Leo had insisted on us getting our nails done this morning. Our lips matched our nails. We were both loaded down with silver rings, bracelets, bangles and chokers.

Our tight black skinny jeans clung to our curves, displaying our asses and legs oh so lovingly. Mine felt tight but I had been snacking on anything Mienkie tried out, which explained it, hopefully. Under our new kuttes we wore low cut tanks with our logo printed in pink over our boobs. I grinned when I saw Leo’s designation on her kutte was Boss and she was of course the President. Damn, she is the coolest chick I have ever met.

“I have no idea how we are going to get through the night with these things on our feet.” I said as I looked down at our stiletto boots. They reached to mid-calf and were decorated with silver buckles and chains and jangled as we walked. So freaking cool.

“No worries. When you can’t stand it anymore come up and pull on your Doc’s. Easy. It’s what I’m going to do.” Leo grinned. “We are going to leave those bastards speechless when they see us. I can’t freaking wait!”

Tapping our right feet together in a salute we smiled at each other then walked out hand in hand.

We came down the stairs to a room filled with our staff and whistles and shouts greeted us. My grin was huge and I knew Leo’s was the same. She immediately went over to the stage and took the mic the band’s frontman passed down to her.

“I don’t have a lot to say. Just thank you to each and every one of you for the time and effort you put in to get us ready to open tonight. And as I’ve warned you it’s going to be a long night but it’s going to be a fun night as well. I have no doubt we are ready and we’re going to totally kill it. Anything you don’t know how to handle I want you to immediately come to me or Bossy. We will handle it for you.” Laughter rang out when I shook a finger at her. She grinned and carried on. “We’re not expecting any problems because everyone coming tonight is a part of our crazy big family. We have some friends coming in that we don’t know as well as we do our family, and that’s why I said come to us if you’re having a problem. And just to repeat, your duties tonight are to keep the tables clear and clean and keep the tubs stocked. The brothers who want the harder stuff will get it from the bar, no exceptions. Okay, now the final bit. Everyone raise the shot you’ve just been handed, and can you tell me what this shot is called?”
