“Feels, wow, I can’t … oh God, don’t stop, Luke. Don’t … ugh, yes.” Sean speared his fingers in Luke’s hair, pushing him toward his cock.

“I’m not going to.” Luke licked along the prominent vein, flicking at the head of Sean’s cock. “I want you begging for it. Scream for me, baby, tell me when you’re ready for more.”

‘Yes, now. Now!” Sean cried out, his fingers biting into Luke’s skin. “I want you bad. Please.”

Luke bobbed his head and took Sean’s cock in, swallowing the length as he breathed through his nose to get the musky, warm smell of Sean from the curls around his shaft. With a sigh, he released him, licking at the tip before he sat back on his haunches. He locked his gaze with Sean’s, ripped the second condom wrapper open, and rolled it down his aching length with a slightly tighter grip than he was used to.

“How do we do…” Sean whispered as Luke grasped his thighs and lifted. He draped his thighs over his shoulders, a shudder racing through him as the move displayed Sean’s fine ass so perfectly. He used two fingers to prod, inching them into Sean’s rectum before withdrawing. Like a flower in bloom, the ring relaxed, spreading as the sensations washed over Sean. With care, he slid three fingers in, sliding them deeper and deeper.

Luke froze at the faint gasp from Sean and glanced up to his face. A tiny frown puckered his brow as he writhed on the bed. “Hurt?”

“No.” Sean shook his head desperately. “Stop, stop, I’m gonna come.”

Luke petted him, his hand slow, careful, as he eased Sean back from the brink. “Nothing wrong with that.”

“I don’t wanna until you’re in me.” Sean gasped, his cheeks stained pink.

Luke withdrew his fingers and pressed a quick kiss to Sean’s chest before he shifted. He rolled onto his back and stretched out. “It’ll be easier this way,” he whispered as he guided Sean into position, kneeling above his painful erection. His hands on Sean’s hips, he stared into his green eyes.

“What do I do?” Sean whispered, confusion written on his face.

Luke sat up on his elbows and pressed a quick, hard kiss to Sean’s lips. He poured a dollop of lube on his cock, stroking it over the latex. Luke stared into Sean’s eyes and whispered his answer. “Slow and easy.” He grasped his condom-encased cock and brushed it against the tender flesh of Sean’s ass.

Luke groaned as Sean eased his ass over his shaft. Tight heat surrounded his length as Sean slid down before retreating. A fine sheen of sweat covered his chest, his breath coming in ragged pants. “So good, baby, yes.” Luke encouraged him, sweeping his fingers across Sean’s hip in a languid motion, soothing him as he sank along his cock.

“Easy, baby, easy.” Luke bit his lip, the urge to thrust up powerful. He rolled his hips, gasping as the motion forced him deeper into Sean’s ass. He tilted his head back and groaned at the answering motion in Sean’s hips, the heat of his body searing through the thin layer of protection.

Pressure built. Each slow grind of Sean’s hips drew a strangled groan from Luke’s throat. He struggled not to leave bruises, the need to fuck Sean hard burning at the edges of his control. He could almost taste the approaching orgasm.

His cock pulsed, and his balls were heavy, full, as they tightened with each rapid thrust. Sean’s whimpers and moans were as heady as any aphrodisiac. Luke groaned, his need crashing over him, and grabbed Sean’s hips, holding him steady as he flipped.

Sean uttered a short cry as Luke pressed him deeper into the mattress. His eyes widened, a needy sparkle in their depths. He opened his mouth, but Luke cut off any comment by swooping in for a kiss. Hot, desperate, his tongue darted into Sean’s mouth, tangling with his tongue, the sweet glide of Sean’s cock against his abdomen hotter than he’d ever believed.

Hurried caresses along Sean’s heaving chest sought the hot spots. He paused to pay extra attention to those when Sean moved or moaned, his hands repaying in kind. Luke gasped, his forehead pressing against Sean’s. “Are you ready?” His guttural question was barely out before he moved.

Withdrawing and then thrusting, Luke fought for control as he palmed Sean’s dick. He wanted to come. Wanted to feel the heat, the pleasure of his orgasm as it raced over his body. Through his lashes, he watched Sean’s face as his thrusts grew faster, harder.

“More. Yesss. Luke!” Sean’s blunt nails scraped over Luke’s back, his head thrown back as he linked his ankles around him. Luke pumped Sean’s cock with each thrust and could feel the scalding crash of power as his orgasm approached. With a muted scream, he thrust hard, burying his length. Wave after wave of bliss slammed into him, crashing with the force of a tidal wave.

Stars exploded behind his eyes as he clung to Sean, his chest tight. The rhythmic clenching of Sean’s hole around his shaft milked him. A fine shudder raced through him as he caught the faint sound of Sean’s cries. Luke forced his eyes open, forced himself to look at Sean who looked totally debauched on his bed. His eyes squeezed shut as he came. Tendons stood out in stark relief as he bowed his body, and long splashes of white spilled over his chest. Sean’s fingers bit into his hips, his hips rolling against Luke’s.

Luke braced his weight on his forearms and pressed tiny kisses to Sean’s face. He sipped at his lips for a second before he pulled back, one hand sliding between them as he slid from Sean’s lax body. On unsteady legs, he hurried to the bathroom and knotted and disposed of the condom. Luke checked it quickly, a smile of pleasure sweeping across his face when he didn’t see anything to indicate he’d hurt Sean. He washed his hands and groin before getting a clean cloth and towel.

His firm hands removed the full condom before he cleaned his lover. His lips pressed gently to his sternum as he tossed aside the towel. Sean hummed softly as Luke nudged him before crawling into bed next to him. He wrapped an arm around Sean’s chest, pulling him back toward him until they were spooned together.

“You okay?” Luke whispered against Sean’s ear, his fingers drawing tiny circles on his chest. Not everyone was so happy with their first time, and he worried Sean wasn’t feeling the euphoria he was.

Sean nodded. His fingers trapped Luke’s before he interlaced them with his. “Never better.” Exhaustion tinged his words, and Luke hid his smile in Sean’s shoulder.

  “Sleep, for now.”

Long after Sean’s breathing had evened out, Luke lay awake, his gaze locked on the man next to him. Disheveled, the red burn of his stubble on his jaw, his chest, he’d never seen him look better.

Sean huffed in his sleep, pressing closer, and Luke sighed. His heart stumbled as a vague thought drifted through his mind, gone before he could lock onto it. It didn’t matter, Luke forced his muscles to relax; he’d take it one day at a time, and maybe, just maybe, at the end of the season he’d have more than just some amazing memories.

  Chapter 14

Sean navigated around a thick spruce tree and rolled his shoulders. His mind was on Luke, not the area he was in. Three weeks as the man’s lover, and he’d never felt better. The sex was fantastic. He’d never have believed a man could come so often and so hard as he did when Luke was fucking him.

He’d given up sleeping in his own bed; instead, he crawled in with Luke every night. No point in sleeping in his bed when he always found himself with Luke by morning.

Sean shifted on the seat of his quad and glanced around. He wanted more. Brutally honest with himself, Sean had to admit he wanted more. He wanted Luke beneath him, taking his hard cock, making him scream out his name. “Want more than that,” he muttered to himself. “You want something he may not want. What man wants to have a novice as a lover? Sure, things are going well now, but you know you wouldn’t go out in public with him. You’re too much of a chicken shit.”

Sean’s cell rang, startling him. He cursed the number on caller ID, flipped it open, and pressed it to his ear. “Hello.”

“Are you done being a fool?” His mother’s scathing voice filled his ear.

  “What do you want, Mom?”
Sean tensed. It was becoming more and more common for his parents to phone him; however, this was the first time in weeks they’d used his cell. Had they called the office and Luke said he was out on patrol? Or was it something else? He wondered about it, but didn’t want to ask. Ignorance was, if nothing else, bliss.

“Want to know when you’ll be home. The first harvest is nearly ready.”

“I don’t know how many times I have to say it, but I’m not coming home. I’m working, and I’m not about to throw that away to help on the farm. Besides, I met someone.”

  “Who? A woman?”

“No.” Sean rubbed at his forehead. As much as he hated to disappoint her, he wasn’t going to lie or hide from the truth any longer. He was happy, content even, and he wasn’t going to let their bias ruin it.

“Keep in mind, son, if you do not do what is right and proper, you’ll not be a member of this family. When do we expect you?”

“You don’t.” Sean injected steel into his tone to rebuff her. “I’m not coming back to the farm.”

“Why must you be as unreasonable as your sister? Family is the most important thing in this world, Sean. Nothing else matters.”

“It does to me.” Sean exhaled. “You want your little boy back, and I’m a grown man with a career, responsibilities, and I’m not passing those off just to play dutiful child. Not only that, I have a relationship important enough to me to want to make it work. I’m not going anywhere without him.”

“Call me when you come to your senses. Don’t make your father do something bad because you refuse to behave accordingly. Mark my words, Sean, you will rue the day you refused to accept your place in this world. If you won’t think of your family, think of those in your life you care most for.”

The phone went dead, and Sean tucked the cell away with a shudder at the barely veiled threat. “Damn cell reception. Why couldn’t it have not picked up the call?”

He dug out the binoculars and did a slow rolling of the landscape. A chill raced through him as he caught the first inkling something was amiss. He caught the faint roar of an engine, one that sounded too big for a quad. “Fuck.” Sean spat the curse out as he caught the trail of smoke rising from the canopy below. He inhaled and gagged at the stench of burning fur as well as wood. Obviously, the arsonist hadn’t vanished from the park. He climbed back onto the quad and cranked over the engine.

He followed the trail and headed down the pathway toward the fire. If it was small enough, they wouldn’t need to call in back-up, but if it was bigger… The quad rocked as he slammed on the brakes and stared. Below him, three hectares of land were fully engulfed. Flames licked up the tall pines, spreading quickly.

“Luke, we have another fire,” he called into the radio as the roar of the flames grew. Smoke dipped and swirled through the branches. Crackling, popping, and hissing, the flames devoured all the fuel it could find.

“Where are you located? I’m on my way.” The radio snapped with static.

“It’s too big, we need air support.” Sean screamed as the canopy bowed beneath the touch of the wind and dipped into the flames. With a sickening roar, the flames spread. “It just jumped the Bow River tributary. I’d wager it’s probably around three hectares and growing quickly.”

“I’ll call in a tanker. Just get your ass out of there. We can investigate after it’s out,” Luke ordered.

“Like I’m going to stand around and wait for it.” Sean revved the engine and headed back for the station. He glanced up once as the sound of a tanker competed with the roaring of the fire. “That was fast.”

Sean rolled into the yard and cracked his neck as he stepped off the quad. He glanced up at the sound of a door slamming and hid a grin. Luke stood on the porch, arms crossed over his chest, his gaze sweeping over him. The heat and want in the gray depths enough to stir the embers within Sean. God, I love that man. The thought raced through his mind as Luke headed for the steps. Icy fingers of fear wrapped around his heart as Luke jumped to the ground, stalking toward him with all the grace of a panther. He stood to lose so much if his father got wind of this, and his mother wasn’t one to keep anything from his dad.

“You okay?” Luke paused a few inches away, his palm cupping Sean’s jaw.

“Fine.” Sean blinked, forcing a note of cheerfulness to his voice. “You?”

“You looked green there for a second.” Luke frowned, his thumb tracing over Sean’s bottom lip. “You want to get ready and we’ll head over to investigate the fire? Mop up those hot spots?”

“Don’t you think we should wait for the tanker to put it out first?” Sean shook his head and snickered at the way Luke was all but hopping in place to chase the adrenaline high. “I heard one go over.”

“Yeah, be about two trips and it should be under control. You know I hate calling them in, seems kinda silly to do it when we can…”

“Not put a fire out in the canopy.” Sean nudged him toward the station. “Now, we’ll need to get some gear together before we head out. Did you get another forensic kit sent up?”

“Got two of them.” Luke tugged on Sean’s belt loops. “You think it’s our arsonist?”

“Yes. Heard a truck engine heading out before I caught the smoke.” He bit back his suspicions on why the fires were being started. There was nothing good going to come from admitting his father probably hired someone to burn them out.

Luke frowned, his cheeks flushing for a second before he exhaled. “Come on, we’ll grab the gear and head out. Takes some time to get those hot spots under control. The last thing I want to do is have to close this section of the park.”

Sean nodded his agreement and followed Luke inside. What was he going to do if he was right? How would Luke react to the knowledge his lover’s father wanted to kill them because they were gay? He shivered at the icy chill that washed over him. No, he couldn’t broach that subject just yet. Not until he was 100 percent sure.

  *

Luke watched Sean retreat to their bedroom and swallowed against the rising nausea. He eyed the computer where he’d spent the better part of an hour answering e-mails. As he listened to Sean move around in the other room, he moved the mouse, bringing up the screen. The e-mail address flashed on the screen, and he gagged. Would Tony go so far as to try to harm anyone over a wrong? He feared the answer to the question as he hit the forward button. Rick would know best on how to handle the thinly veiled threat from his ex-lover.

What he had with Sean was unlike anything he’d ever felt, ever experienced, with any other lover. It wasn’t just the sex, though it was amazing. He’d never had a lover who was more willing, more expressive, than Sean, and he wallowed in knowing he could make him lose control with just a few touches.

No, it was the need he felt to just be with him. To talk, to watch him working on the scrapbook of birds, little things that meant a lot. He’d begun to look forward to the quiet of the evenings, the joy of just sitting with Sean. If Tony was involved with the recent string of fires, what would that mean to whatever this was with Sean? Could he protect Sean and stop Tony? Was he reading more into the e-mail than was there?

Luke raked a hand through his hair and prayed it was something as simple as overreacting to Tony. He’d do whatever he had to so Sean could be safe. No point in dragging the man into the mess of his past.

He’ll have to know about it at some point. Especially if things get serious. The tiny voice whispered as he typed in a familiar e-mail address and hit send. He’d deal with the e-mails later.

“You ready?” Sean’s voice pulled him from the nagging worry. Luke forced a smile to his lips, rose, and nodded.

“Yep. Oh, I got an e-mail this morning from Gillian. She was wondering when she could bring some kids up for a brief tour. I’m thinking Victoria Day weekend.”

“That’s in less than a month. You think she’ll be prepared for it?” Sean held the door open as they hurried to the truck.

“I think you’ll be amazed at what Gillian can do.
The woman’s a certified genius, or she should be.” Luke shrugged. “She’s got Jack dangling, that’s for sure.”

“Is Jack the fireman or the cop?”

“Fireman.” Luke slammed the driver’s door as Sean jumped up onto the seat. He slid the key in the ignition and turned it over. “Maybe he’ll come up with Gillian.”

“Might be a good idea, and then he can see the sort of stellar characters you’re hanging around these days.” Sean patted his thigh as Luke followed the back road down to the edge of the fire.

They hopped out of the truck and looked upward at the low flying helicopter with a basket beneath it. Water poured over the flames, popping and hissing as it came into contact with the red-hot embers.

Sean walked around the hood to stand against the door next to Luke. He leaned back, his shoulder brushing Luke’s. Luke shuddered at the thrill racing down his spine and tucked a hand in Sean’s back pocket, content for the moment to just be.

  Chapter 15

“So how are things?” Jack’s voice filled Luke’s ear as he watched Sean in the yard. Sean had decided to catalog everything from the fires after this last one. After two days spent digging through the foliage, the charred remains of the site had garnered them more than enough evidence to indicate a poacher. Still, Luke wasn’t too sure poaching was the reason behind the fire.

Luke grinned, his gaze taking in the tight curve of Sean’s ass as he bent over, the camera in his hands flashing. He’d laid out all the evidence and was busy taking pictures, recording the codes for each item. Sean had called it making himself useful. Luke figured it was a form of torture that was slowly turning Luke inside out. There was no way he could jump him, not when they still had at least another hour’s worth of work to do before they could call it quits.

  “Good.”

“What’s happening? I know that tone.”

  “What tone?” Luke chuckled.

“The tone that says you’re getting laid. Maybe not this very second, but you’re still getting some. Now, come on, what’s happening? Please tell me you haven’t been going clubbing?”
