Between the Wild Branches Page 36

by Connilyn Cossette

Did Jaru’s parentage surprise you? Did you find satisfaction in the justice he was able to mete out on his mother’s murderer? What do you envision his life will be like after Lukio is gone? What about Mariada’s life in Shoshana’s absence?

There is a recurring theme in the COVENANT HOUSE series of sacrificial love. How do you see that playing out between the characters in this story in particular, and in what ways do their choices depict our Messiah’s sacrifice? When have you been a recipient of this kind of love, or personally offered it to someone else? How did the experience change you?

There are multiple occurrences in the Bible of people’s names being changed when their identity and purpose is altered. Why do you think it was so important for Lukio to choose to change his name? In what ways has your identity shifted since you were adopted into the family of God? What physical or symbolic changes did you make after that decision?

Eliora’s devotion to her brother is a constant throughout the series, which is depicted both by her concern for him and also her commitment to prayer for his return, even though a decade passed with little hope. Who in your life have you committed to praying for on a regular basis? How does this story give you hope for their future?

Connilyn Cossette is a Christy Award and Carol Award winner, whose books have been found on ECPA and CBA bestseller lists. When she is not engulfed in the happy chaos of homeschooling two teenagers, devouring books whole, or avoiding housework, she can be found digging into the rich ancient world of the Bible to discover gems of grace that point to Jesus and weaving them into an immersive fiction experience. Although she and her husband have lived all over the country in their twenty-plus years of marriage, they currently call a little town south of Dallas, Texas, their home.
