“Apparently, some idiots decided to bring him back,” I said.

“Who did that?” Misty sat on the Suburban’s bumper and played with her phone.

“Some corporate jerks, I think in Europe,” I said. “We probably don’t have anything to worry about.”

“Come on.” Heather jumped to her feet. “Let’s cruise.”

So, I drove into the night with a pair of vampires, in a truck with a load of illegal weapons. Misty watched videos on her phone in the back seat. Heather put her boots up on the dashboard and shut her eyes.

“So where are we going for our vacation?” I said.

“North,” Heather said. “That’s where Spada lives. And that’s where Lee’s going to send us, eventually.”

“So you want to scout his territory,” Misty said.

“If there’s time,” Heather said. “I really just wanna like, fuck shit up in his town. He’ll have to cover up whatever we do. It’ll drive that asshole nuts.”

I tuned out the rest of Heather’s half-baked plan and thought about Miranda’s less than helpful fortune telling. Live a long time, huh. Lifetimes in fact. Fuck me.

  The End
