“Okay, that’s a nice riddle but how did it happen?”

“Ann was born a mystic and lived for one purpose. She was born with the key and nurtured that key until it was needed. She died for that purpose.”

“But, there were no marks on her body and no indication of foul play.”

“Ah, but that is because you were looking for signs in your human world. Detective, after what you and Sarina have been through surely you must realize that the human world is not the only world in the universe.”

“So what can I make of this?”

“Think of it as a transfer of energy or life force. She was present enough for your destiny, as a human being, which you accomplished with her essence. So, no marks, no human signs of death but death, nevertheless. The same for Jennifer Banderas. Her destiny was tied to this in ways you may not understand right now but will one day.”

“I was going to ask you about her.”

“Save it for now. You will understand it in your future.”

“Dana,” said Sarina. “What about my mother? She was here but how? Why?”

“Sarina, you mother left her place in Eairth, or rather, she was called back by the council. Her life force was strong and she was part of your destiny. She was the council member who was outside your apartment when Detective Holden needed her. ”

  “I don’t remember that.”

“I do,” said Riley. “She was outside in the alley when I got the thought about the handcuffs. I thought I recognized her but wasn’t sure how or from where or when.”

“Have I answered all your questions for now?” asked Dana.

“Why did you wait until now to tell us these things?” asked Riley.

“Tell me, Detective. Was the purity of your love for Sarina enough to see you through all of this?” Dana was motioning with the wave of his arm.

“Well, yes. But I would have liked to have known these details... ”

Dana waved him off. “The details I just shared were attached to your Emotional Body and might have clouded your judgment. This is why I withheld this information. Do you understand?”

“I suppose,” said Riley, giving Dana a hard look.

Sarina removed her hand from Riley’s and put her arm into his and spoke. “I understand. Our role was to unblock the energy portal and if we knew too much our emotions might have prevented us from doing just that. Like the moment when I felt a surge of emotion for my father but in the end everything worked out.”

Dana put his hand on Sarina’s shoulder witnessing an understanding in Sarina’s eyes. “A celebration has been prepared for us in the vision room.” Dana led Sarina and Riley into the vision room where they we joined by the royal couple, Yumma, Ann, Mona, Joe, Jennifer, Riley’s twin sister, the rest of the Eairth council, and Cum-Hau along with representatives from other worlds. All in all a few hundred were present at endless tables and chairs. The room was filled with exotic decorations from many artists from Eairth, Nibiru, and other worlds.

The room grew silent as Dana led in Sarina and Riley. Everyone stood as Sarina and Riley walked to their appointed seats. The royal couple raised their goblets in honor of our heroes. The two, in unison, said, “We are now as one.”

A roar of appreciation exploded in the hall. Everyone was cheering Sarina and Riley. After a few moment of this celebration, it was Sarina who raised her arms as if to embrace the entire gathering. The crowd erupted in cheers once again.

The royal couple stood from their place of honor and invited Sarina and Riley over. They offered each of them symbols of yin and yang. In the middle of each symbol was a small sculpture of Cum-Hau who was seated at the end of the great table. He rose and bowed to Sarina and Riley as they received their gifts from the royal couple. The crowd exploded again into applause and cheers. The Song, Bliss played and the feast lasted for hours until finally it was time to leave.

Dana and Yumma stood, smiled at them both, and turned to leave the room. Dana said, “Yumma and I have had council with Jack and are satisfied with the outcome. Your father’s future is now in the hands of the royal couple. Please come to Yumma’s when you are finished here.” With that Dana and Yumma dematerialized from the vision room and rematerialized out in the din of the city and walked towards Yumma’s restaurant.

The journey into the spirit world for humans is quite different than it is for spirit beings such as Dana. The path back and forth were no longer plagued with obstacles for any of our champions and the path was now clear.

It was time to deal with Jack.

  Chapter – Twenty Eight

“What do we do with your father, Jack?” Riley asked.

“I suppose, like Dana said, he is in the hands of the royal couple.” Said Sarina.

  “Please take us to him.”

They and the royal couple left the vision room and went to where Jack was being held. They walked over to where he was slumped on the floor with Riley’s cuffs securely around his wrists. He seemed so old and fragile. How was he going to finish his human life in his 80s after being here in the spirit world for so long?[S1]

  “Can we un-cuff my father?”

Riley turned to the royal couple and looked deep into their eyes. “Should we?”

The royal couple finally spoke. “We leave this decision in your hands. We do not know what role this one still has to play within our realm.”

Riley looked at Sarina with a worried expression. “Are you sure we should free him?” He was not comfortable releasing Jack, but Sarina was excited at the thought of her father being set free.

“Yes,” said Sarina, looking over toward the royal couple.

Riley produced the key to unlock the handcuffs, bent down, inserted the key, and removed them. Jack looked to Sarina and with tears in her eyes she hugged her father for what might be the last time. The couple took Jack in their hands and led him away, presumably to finish his human years in this spirit world and then become a part of the collective, groomed for his soul to be reborn again.

It was time for Sarina and Riley to leave. They walked to a door. No special incantations or rituals were needed. They simply opened the door and emerged into the alley beside[S2] The Magic of Chin Chin.

“It seems as though we now have a revolving door to the spirit world,” said Sarina.

Riley turned back to open the door back to the spirit world to check her theory but it was locked tight with no way to return. “That’s funny,” said Riley. “I guess we are not going back that way.”

They both walked with arms around each other toward Yumma’s to meet up with Dana and Yumma.

Sarina and Riley had begun their journey as strangers cast together in a whirlwind of mystics, ancient gods, and other worlds. Through all of this, the biggest hurdle was going to be how Sarina and Riley continued to develop their relationship. They had come so far in such a short amount of human time. What more was there to learn about each other?

Riley looked over at Sarina as they walked. He was already dreading going back to the precinct, having to explain how Ann Conti had been murdered. He wondered how the knowledge he had of collectives, councils, mystics, shamans, Mayan gods and goddesses, and underworlds could be used to explain Ann’s death in his human world. He certainly wasn’t going to state that Ann had not really been murdered, but in fact she had just exchanged life force energy to fulfill the destiny of Sarina Conti, and certainly that she might not have been human at all. Well, if anything, he thought, it can remain an unsolved crime like so many murders in big cities.

Sarina was a bit more fortunate in that she had the story of a lifetime and a publisher who was aching to hear all the details. Still, a murder with mystics and underworld overlords and the like ... Entering the Mayan spirit world and unblocking stuck energy ... Maybe if she put a twist on it and revealed a new human consciousness that she now witnessed around her ...

“Sarina,” Riley said as he stopped walking, breaking Sarina's concentration, “I’m deeply in love with you, and I’
m hoping … no, asking, if you will share your life with me?”

Sarina gazed into Riley’s eyes and without saying a word, he knew.[S3]

“Riley, we have experienced such an amazing journey together and I could never have predicted that we would end up here, right now, together. You’re so much more than I ever expected in a man. You’ve been there for me without hesitation, offering me so much support in such a kind and gentle way. Is there anything else you could possible offer me that you already haven’t? I Love You! I will spend as many lifetimes as I can with you.”

Riley smiled and fixed his blue-green eyes on Sarina’s blue-green eyes. And he just held those eyes in his unblinking gaze. In this space, with this connection, time—just like it did when they went through the portal—seemed to stop or at least lose all relationship with chronos time in Eairth.

“Sarina, for me you are Light: the Sun, the Moon, the stars. The oneness we have shared together has connected me to Source like nothing I have ever experienced or had dreamed of. And yet our explorations are only just beginning.”

He paused … Spirit was pouring back and forth across the visual bridge their eyes had made; Riley felt a joy well up in his chest and continue to expand through him until it exuded from his body, revealing his enormous rainbow aura[S4]. From this place of inner, certain, holy intimacy, he took Sarina’s face in his hands and continued.

“And let me assure you that you have no idea how much more I can possibly offer you. We have only begun this sacred sharing of Spirit. From here on one plus one equals three.” With that, as they floated in this time outside of time, right there on Irving Street, he dipped her into the deepest and longest kiss she had ever experienced. When Riley straightened Sarina up, she was a little weak-kneed from the rush.

“And don’t forget the sharing of bodies,” she whispered a little breathless and woozy.

Arms around each other, they walked down the street and noticed levity in the air. People were saying hello to each other and there was less heaviness. Eairth seemed to breathe easier. Young people were interacting with older generations. People seemed to genuinely be more kind. People were beginning to trust each other and the healing power of trust allowed for a greater love. to emerge.

Sarina and Riley knew that the human race now had the tools to rebuild its society. It may take a while but changes were already happening for the better.

During the next few weeks, governments came together for true summits addressing hunger relief and homelessness. Solutions for energy conservation were now on solid footing. Education issues dropped away. The youth of the world became motivated and eager for human interaction putting aside their portable communication devices that kept them isolated. The world brought back the essence of ritual and united it with technology for a more holistic approach. Teens were interacting again in their communities and less in a virtual reality. It was clear that humanity was truly uniting as one species once again. Humans were beginning to realize how important connection through intention was needed to build a better environment.

Sarina and Riley stopped in at Yumma’s to meet up with Dana. Yumma and Dana were chatting away. Yumma motioned Sarina and Riley across the restaurant and waved them over with a huge grin on his face.

  “Greetings, Bright Eyes,” said Yumma.

“It is so good to see you again, Yumma,” said Sarina returning his huge grin with one of her own and she giving him a big bear hug.

“Please, sit down. We have much to talk about,” said Dana.

They talked for a long time, recounting the various aspects of their journey and how connected Sarina and Riley had become. They told about Jack and how he was allowed to complete his human life in the spirit world beside the royal couple.

“Well, I hope that works out, no one has ever done that before,” said Yumma.

“Especially handcuffed,” completed Dana who looked at Yumma and laughed.

“Oh, I took off the cuffs.” Riley held them out for everyone to see with a huge grin on his face.

Dana’s and Yumma’s faces went ashen.

“What?” asked Riley and Sarina in unison, Riley’s smile turning upside down ...

  Epilogue:

Riley was puzzled by Dana and Yumma’s response to Jacks situation. He was still a detective, after all, and was always aware of his surroundings and the body language of others and had been blessed with new gifts he had previously not possessed.

He wanted to know what happened to the missing document and he knew he would not be a peace until he found it. Sarina was meeting with Mary and he had some time. He drove back out to Ann’s house to see if he had overlooked something.

As he drove, he recalled the day he looked into Anne’s car. He pulled out the torn piece of the document he had found in her car and looked at it. He could not put together where the rest of the document might be or what it meant.

Meanwhile, Jack was still in the spirit world safe and at peace. He wanted to see Sarina again and realized, all in good time. He removed an envelope from his inside pocket and pulled out the papers.

[S1]Jack is in the vision room, too? Mentioned this is previous chapter

[S2]12-26-13 So they are in the yin and yang room with the Universal Beings and some side door leads them to Cobbled Alley? How? Do they now have the power to make doors appear and open into whatever they choose? No journey back for them this time?

[S3]01-15-15 A 27-chapter love story and this is it? As ever, I would like to see more. I like that they had to exchange no words. And if they went from this spot back to K’s place to start their life together, okay maybe that would be sufficient. But instead they pledge their love to one another and notice the how world around them has changed, and end up at Yumma’s. It just doesn’t seem to do them justice.

[S4]02-26-15 What color is Riley’s aura?
