  ‘Where are we going?’ she asked, her face turned radiantly to his.

  ‘West,’ he said as he lifted her up on to his horse.

  She smiled contentedly, leaning her head against his chest. She had found what she had been looking for. A love that defied all convention and was strong enough to overcome all obstacles.

  ‘West,’ she repeated happily, and closed her eyes, at peace at last.
