Training Tia Page 20

by Isabella Laase

Zane and I started the glorious next chapter of our life filled with people I loved. The challenges were sometimes overwhelming, but our verbal and nonverbal communication made it easy to take time for ourselves. We even talked about starting our family, and I smiled with the knowledge of the two little boys who would soon join our lives. I kept that one a surprise for Zane.

It would be wonderful to bring Nanny back to the nursery, but I remained concerned about raising magical offspring. I was assured, however, that without a decades-long gap in developing their powers, our children would not have to undergo the same level of personal intrusion I did.

“They won’t be nearly as obnoxious as you were either,” he said dryly.

Isabella convinced me that my new role needed a personal assistant. “There’s just too much to do and remember. Take some of the pressure off yourself and find somebody who keeps you calm and grounded.”

The choice was easy. I asked Hawa to join me and was thrilled when she agreed. I still worked to reconcile her as Kim, but their mannerisms were so similar that I was amazed I hadn’t caught on earlier.

Zane continued to display his dominance, and most of the time, I let him. He demonstrated respect for my ideas, both publicly and privately, and I enjoyed the private attention that comes as a submissive. A snap of his fingers or a scowl from his brow was enough to start the electrical dance between my legs, and it didn’t take a magical connection to let him know that I needed him.

Despite the elimination of threats to my life, Zane announced that I was not to leave the house without my annoying Simon. When I made it clear that I considered the edict an insult to my powers, Quinn challenged me to a duel. Apparently, we could limit our strength to fight safely.

I was intrigued by the possibility. “So it can be like a game?”

Quinn laughed. “The blows will have a sting. It isn’t a game, but it isn’t deadly either.”

I agreed. After all, Quinn was a senior citizen. I had genealogy, training, and youth on my side.

He flattened me within five minutes, and I think he only took that long because he was playing with me. Instead of reigning blows of energy on my body, he let a sting go on my ass, and I was spanked times ten.

  Totally embarrassed, I begged, “Ow…stop…please. I’m… I won’t go… Simon can…”

He finally relented. With a bitter blow to my ego, I rubbed my sore bottom in disgrace and sulked well into the evening.

Zane thought it was hysterical. “Serves you right. You think you’re big and tough, so don’t forget an old man can bring you down.”

“That’s not fair, and you know it. Your father might be an old man, but he’s strong as an ox. I bet he could take you, too.”

“That’s not the point. Start staying out of trouble, Tia. I need to have some control around here.”

I looked into the eyes of my master and smirked. “I guess you’ll have as much control as I give you…Sir.”

My body was instantly bolted to the bed with my secrets exposed to his game. “Really,” he growled. “Perhaps we should do something about that attitude.”

A shiver followed my nervous system down to the tingling ache tucked between my sex. He covered my body with his own, and I moved to take a bite out of his shoulder.

I was very content with this life.
