“Wow!” Maggie blinked.
Grabbing the blankets, Sean pulled her close and covered them. She turned onto her side to cuddle against Ethan. He spooned against her back, nearly groaning aloud when he felt his damn cock begin to stir. When he was around her, he was like a horny teenager.
Forcing himself to ignore it, Sean took a deep breath and closed his eyes.
He pointedly ignored Maggie’s knowing snicker.
Wincing as she tried to tame her hair, Maggie was in a hurry to get downstairs. The breakfast Sean had made in the slow cooker smelled amazing. The aroma had awakened them all. Now her stomach was growling. She hadn’t eaten much the night before, at the reception. She had still been a little nervous, too much so to do more than nibble at what food was on her plate.
Now her stomach was demanding she put something in it. Grimacing, Maggie put the comb aside, found a hair clip, and scooped all of her hair up and fastened it to the top of her head. For good measure, she added two sparkly combs Emily had given her for her last birthday. They would help keep the mess in place.
Maggie smoothed her hands over the moss green, long-sleeved shirt and black stretchy pants she was wearing. She hoped she looked casual and not too frumpy. She hoped she looked refreshed, too. She couldn’t believe that they had enjoyed a marathon of hot, sweaty sex. Her husbands had the stamina of young bulls. Not that she was complaining, because she wasn’t. It felt damn good to be found so desirable.
Shoving her feet into a pair of sparkly green slippers her children had chosen for her while they were out shoe shopping, she headed downstairs and to the kitchen. Her men were in the process of setting plates of food around the table. Coffee was being poured, the aroma drawing her directly to it.
Max headed her off with a smile. With his hands on her shoulders, he turned her back to the table. “Go sit down. Relax. We’ve got everything under control.”
“But I need coffee,” Maggie said, giving him her best pout. She batted her eyelashes for good measure.
“Yeah, we know.” Ethan laughed. “There is no way we’re going to withhold your caffeine. We’re good-looking, not idiots.”
When a huge, bright yellow mug was placed on the table in front of her, Maggie could have laughed herself silly. It had to hold over forty ounces. On the outside the words STAY BACK AND REMAIN SILENT UNTIL THE CONTENTS HAVE BEEN DRAINED were printed in bold red letters.
“Oh, you guys are just too funny.” She shook her head as they laughed, as if they had just played the best joke ever. Lifting the monstrous mug carefully, she took a sip, closed her eyes, and sighed. “Perfect. Now, let’s eat before this delicious concoction Sean made gets cold.”
Breakfast was excellent. They didn’t rush through it. She picked up a piece of bacon, offering a bite to Max when she saw him eyeing it. His, of course, had disappeared. Strong white teeth gripped it and gave it a yank. She was left with a piece between her thumb and forefinger. She stared at him as he chewed away on the delicious treat, chuckling as he did so.
Once they were finished they went into the family room to read the newspaper together. She looked around the room as she snuggled in between Sean and Ethan on the overstuffed couch. There was a lot of her grandfather’s style in the room. The colorful glass windows were set into the wall so that the morning sun came through them. The weathered blue door was on the ceiling, above the stairs which led to nowhere. The mosaic waterfall had been taken from the old bathroom and was now against the wall near the fireplace. She liked looking at the things her grandfather had made with such whimsy and love. She hoped that she could bring the same kind of love to her own family’s lives.
“We should go play in the snow later,” Ethan said as he looked out at the new snow through the French doors.
Maggie shivered. “You go play in it. I’ll watch from here.”
“This is our honeymoon. We’re staying in for hot, crazy, wild sex,” Sean told him.
“And breaks,” Max added. “We need lots of breaks. But none of it includes additional time freezing my ass off in snow.”
Ethan pouted, but went back to reading the paper without further comment. Two hours later Maggie was wearing her best winter clothing and was being towed outside by Ethan. They played for about a half hour, until her face felt as if it was about to freeze.
Hot chocolate was waiting for her. Max took her winter gear and Sean wrapped her in a blanket. Then she was settled in front of the fire with the hot chocolate and her e-book. Yeah, she had the right guys. They were perfect.
They took their places around her and turned on the TV. Football. Maggie shook her head. Okay, they weren’t perfect. Still, she couldn’t envision a life without them.
The phone rang and Sean answered it. A moment later he was handing it to her.
“Hello?”
“Hi, Mama. This is Emily.”
“Hi. What’s up, kiddo?”
“I wanted to know if you and my daddies made my baby sister yet.”
Maggie laughed when she heard Brant and Samuel trying to yell into the phone. She held the phone away. They were doing a pretty good job of trying to deafen her. “No more sisters! We want a baby brother! Girls are dumb!”
She waited until the squabble subsided, before speaking again. Then the men began shouting at the TV, when a play went wrong.
Her life was perfect. She wouldn’t have it any other way.
Well, maybe a little more quiet, would be nice, Maggie thought with a smile.
“Tell me, what have you, your brothers, and your grandparents been up to?”
