“Do you want her?”
“Yes.”
“Then don’t use excuses. You’re not one for letting someone get in your way. Work on her slowly and surely. Did Tom get that building contract with Farris?”
“I don’t know.”
“Well, make it happen, because if he gets it, he’ll be away from her for weeks on end. Work it like you would do a business transaction.”
“She’s not a transaction.”
“Maybe, but use what you know to get her and, Eric...”
“Yes.”
“You will win her.”
“Are you giving me a pep talk?”
Damian laughed over the line. “I suppose I am, but regardless, you never fail when you set your mind to getting something you want.”
I want a loving son, but I don’t have it. I didn’t want my wife to commit suicide, but she did.
“Think positively,” Damian added.
I looked at the bottle of vodka, knowing I had two choices: to drink myself into oblivion or to win Kelly back. I thanked Damian and hung up, then walked out of my room, heading for the kitchen. I poured the vodka down the sink, then went to the cabinet and got the rest of the alcohol, doing the same...
...because I was going to win Kelly back—any way I could.
