  Chapter One

  “That’s perfect, honey,” said Franco.

Melissa Todd smiled like her world was perfect, and the camera continued to take pictures. She was ready to be done with the whole shoot, but as always her manager was pushing for just a little bit more. In her mind, Melissa just saw dollar signs. Every shoot meant money, and the more money she acquired, the closer she was to her goal of never having to live in California or take another picture again.

“Come back to me, Melissa. I need you to pout, honey,” said Franco.

  “Sorry, Franco,” she said coldly.

She reminded herself that he was the best—that her pictures were on the cover of every major publication in the country. She was the first plus-size model to get a cover of the coveted SAW magazine. In twenty-four hours she would be far away from here on a much needed vacation. She moved her legs around the car and adjusted the small leather skirt. Melissa loved that she was a role model for women all over the world, but sometimes she just wanted to quit.

“All right, you’re done! Amazing as always, lovely,” said Franco as he kissed her on the cheek.

“Melissa, you’ve got an interview for the article at two, then your weekend is clear,” said Barb. She was a little overbearing, and Melissa knew that she was just riding her meal ticket as high as she could, but Barb knew the industry.

“Why is your weekend clear? I know you got invited to the SB party uptown,” said Barb as she frantically looked through her tablet.

“Barb,” said Melissa as she removed her shoes and walked to the dressing room, “I took the weekend off, remember? I need a break.”

Barb frowned, “Oh. Right. Well, I guess one weekend won’t kill anyone.”

Melissa rolled her eyes. Barb didn’t look convinced that the weekend away wouldn’t kill anyone. It didn’t matter—she was going no matter what anyone said. She had worked every shoot, show, and interview relentlessly for the past six months.

Barb was lost in her planner and tried to follow Melissa into the dressing room. Instead, she bumped into her ample backside.

“Everything okay?” asked Barb as she looked at Melissa.

“Did you get me flowers?” she asked her quietly.

“No,” said Barb, already she was calling security.

Melissa grabbed her coat and left the building. She didn’t bother to change since her jacket covered everything except her DD-sized chest. Unless she had it custom-made, not much covered her chest. She didn’t mind, though. Everything about her was larger than average, and she loved it. Melissa had never been petite, and she had never wanted to be.

“Let’s go. You need to get to your car now,” said Barb as she hustled her out of the studio.

“Do you think it was him again?” Melissa asked Barb.

She already knew the answer, though. Her stalker had gotten close to her again. Barb rushed Melissa out to her waiting car and climbed into the back seat with her.

“Do you really think going out of town with no security this weekend is a good idea?” Barb asked.

Melissa knew her concern was genuine. “I don’t see how staying here is any better. It would seem he can get to me anywhere. I don’t see how he could find me there. I haven’t even told you where I am going.”

“Don’t remind me,” said Barb with an angry glare.

Melissa had to laugh at the woman. She would be with Melissa every day if she could. Her flight left at six that night, and she wasn’t going to be late. Nothing sounded better than the private jet that was going to drop her off near the Tongass National Forest where she had just bought the perfect little cabin. It was just the right size for her and a family—when she found someone to start that with, of course.

“All right, I’ve canceled your interview today and rescheduled it for Monday. They are tripping over themselves to find the security breach,” said Barb as she put away her phone.

“It looks like your schedule is clear. You can leave early for your flight if you want. The pilot is ready to go whenever you are,” said Barb with a bitter tone.

Melissa smiled at her, “He wouldn’t tell you where I was going, would he?”

“No,” said Barb as she pouted.

Melissa loved it when Barb lost control. The facial expressions alone were worth the tantrums. Melissa smiled. In six hours she would be sitting on her front porch, leaving all this drama behind her.

  Chapter Two

Within the hour, Melissa was at the airport and climbing aboard the private plane that she had leased for the day. She had been so excited about this weekend that she already had her bags packed and ready to go.

“Hello, Miss Todd,” said the pilot politely as she boarded the plane.

“Hello, how are you today?” she said.

  “
I’m just fine. Thank you for asking. Are we ready to go?” he asked.

  She smiled, “Yes, sir.”

Melissa took her seat and waited for takeoff. As she did, she dozed off to sleep. It wasn’t a strange thing for her. She had been up since four that morning, as always. Her mind drifted to the dream she’d had the night before. It had been everything her heart desired. She saw herself standing next to a handsome man—her stomach was swollen with a child. All Melissa had ever wanted was to be a mother. She longed to carry a life inside of her and have a child to love. Her own parents had been wonderful, but they had both passed away when she was just starting her career. Now she had no one.

  “Miss Todd,” said the pilot.

She sat up in her seat. “What’s wrong?” she asked.

He smiled at her, “Nothing, ma’am. We’ve landed.”

“Already? Wow. I feel like I just fell asleep,” she said to him.

“As many hours as you work, I’m not surprised,” he said kindly.

Melissa stepped off the plane and was happy to see nothing around her but wilderness. She had called ahead, using her mother’s maiden name, and reserved a car. The keys had already been sent to her. She fished them out of her purse.

“Ma’am?” said the pilot as he set down her bags. “Do you think it’s safe to be out here all by yourself?”

She smiled at him, “Don’t worry. There’s a ranger’s station not far from where I’m staying.”

He nodded his head to her but didn’t look very comfortable with the situation. Melissa loaded her bags into the rental car and drove down the narrow road. The cabin was just how she’d left it when she had bought it a month ago. She had flown up one night, without telling Barb, to look at it before buying it. It was everything she wanted and more.

It was only six o’clock. She knew she would need to go into town for food, but she wanted to meet the park ranger first.

When she pulled up to the ranger station, she felt cheerful for the first time in a long time. Pushing open the office door, she saw a display with hiking trails mapped out and started to look at them.

Behind her, she heard a sultry voice, “Can I help you?”

She spun around and almost stumbled backwards. The man was dressed in a park ranger’s uniform. He was a massive man at six foot tall. Every inch of his body had muscles covering it. His eyes were a piercing green, and thick brown hair covered his head. Melissa couldn’t stop her eyes from wandering down his firm body to the bulge in front. She looked up at him and smiled.

“Hi there. My name is—” she started.

“Melissa Todd,” he interrupted. “I know.”

  She smiled, “A fan?”

“My niece thinks the sun rises and sets depending on what you’re wearing that day,” he said.

“Oh, well, I can’t complain about that. Maybe I can meet her sometime,” she said with a smile.

“She would love that,” he replied. “I am Ranger Svako. Are you renting one of our cabins?”

“No,” she said with a smile. “I bought the one just down the road here, on the left.”

He raised his eyebrow at her, “Oh, well, that’s interesting.”

“Why’s that?” she asked him, amused.

He smiled at her, “It’s not every day that a beautiful supermodel moves into the neighborhood, right?”

She blushed at the compliment. “I wouldn’t say I’m a supermodel, and I wish I were moving into the neighborhood. Unfortunately, it’s just going to be a vacation spot, for now.”

  “For now?” he said.

Melissa decided for the first time in her life, she was going to be blunt. “Well, Ranger Svako, the only reason I model is because I want enough money to be able to live here in the woods forever. Away from everyone and everything. All I want in life is to settle down, have a child, and live my life in peace. How’s that for you?”

Ranger Svako raised his eyebrow, “Well, I am more than happy to help you with that.”

Melissa’s looked at him in shock and felt her temperature rise.

  “Okay,” she whispered.

  Chapter Three

“Great. Well, the first thing you’ll need to do is go into town and set up a post office box there,” he said as he handed her a map.

She looked at him, confused for a moment, “What?”

He smiled at her and leaned against the counter. “I said I could help you get moved here since that’s what you wanted. It’s not that far from Hollywood. You could commute on weekends, right?”

“Oh!” she said as she started to blush. “Right. Well, thank you for the information. I should get going and let you get back to work.”

He smiled at her, “All right. Well, don’t be a stranger. I’ll start driving down your road on my rounds, so I know you’re safe.”

She thanked him and all but ran from the office. She skipped going into town, knowing that she had a few things she could cook in the freezer. As she headed back to her cabin, she felt like someone was watching her. It was a feeling that she had almost all the time anymore. Climbing from her car, she quickly ran inside the cabin and locked the doors. Melissa had spent so long living in the hustle and bustle of the city that she had forgotten what it was like to be surrounded by silence. She turned on the lights in the house one by one.

When she reached the kitchen, she paused. Through the glass door, she saw a shadow outside. She knew it wasn’t in her head. She walked away from the kitchen and picked up her phone, grateful she had put Ranger Svako’s number into her phone while she’d sat outside the ranger station. He picked up after two rings, and she frantically told him about the man outside her house.

“Stay put,” he said to her as he hung up. She did as he said, locking herself in the cabin’s small bathroom. It had no windows and no way out.

After several minutes, her phone rang, and she answered it right away, “Hello?”

“It’s Ranger Svako. I am at your front door. Can you let me in?” he asked.

She unlocked the bathroom door and went to the main door, looking out before she opened it. She saw the taught man standing on the porch.

“Ranger, I promise you, I do not see things! There was someone outside my back door,” she said to him frantically.

He stepped inside, “I know, I saw him run off into the woods.”

Melissa was more afraid than she had ever been in her life. The stalker had gotten close to her before, but never like this, not in the middle of the woods where she had no protection. She was going to have a meltdown. Suddenly, she felt strong arms wrapping around her.

  “Hey, it’s okay,” said Svako.

“I’m so sorry,” she said to him. “I can’t believe he followed me out here.”

He pulled away from her a little, “You know him?”

“Yes and no. I have had a stalker for the last few months. No one can figure out how he keeps getting close to me. I thought that I would be safe here,” she whispered.

Svako pulled her close to his chest again, “It’s okay. I will keep you safe, I promise.”

Melissa looked up at him, “I can’t ask you to do that. Just give me a ride back to the airport. My pilot should still be there.”

She moved away from him, but he kept hold of her hand, “You didn’t ask me, I offered. Let me stay here with you.”

She looked up into his penetrating green eyes, “Why would you do that?”

He smiled at her, “Because you are my niece’s favorite superstar, and I have to keep her happy.”

Melissa laughed, “Well, your niece is very lucky to have you then!”

“Plus, I’m not going to turn down the chance to stay with a beautiful woman all night, even if it’s just as her watchdog,” he said to her.

Melissa moved closer to him, and she felt the heat inside of her rise. Placing a hand on his firm chest, she looked into his eyes once more.

“Would you mind checking the bedroom?” she said seductively.

  His breath
ing was ragged, “Are you sure?”

She let her hand slide down his chest to his belt. Then she moved it the rest of the way down, feeling his hard shaft. He groaned in pleasure. She had never been so aroused in her life.

“I’m sure,” she said as she walked away from him towards the bedroom.

With a seductive smile, she turned to see him following her.

  Chapter Four

The bedroom was outfitted with a huge four-poster bed at her request. She turned around when she heard him walk into the room.

Turning, she pressed her body against him and said, “I want you to take me, any way that you wish.”

“Are you sure?” he said to her in a husky voice. “I may get rough.”

She nodded her head—it was all the motivation that he needed. He bent down and took her chin in his hand and tilted her head up to his. He kissed her softly at first, then harder as his desire grew. Melissa felt her own core tightening as her desire grew. She wanted him. Reaching out, she found his belt while her lips didn’t leave his. She quickly unbuttoned his pants and set his engorged member free. Melissa gasped at its size. She had never been with anyone so large. She went to her knees and took his shaft into her mouth, watching his reactions as she did so. He groaned in delight.

She wanted to keep going, but he grabbed her hair and pulled her to her feet. The pain sent a thrill through her. He looked down at her ample chest and licked his lips.

“You are beautiful,” he said to her as he lifted her shirt over her head.

She removed her bra and set her breasts free. Her sensitive nipples were already erect as his fingers brushed over them. Her body was hot with passion—her core started to moisten. Svako lifted each breast in his hand and massaged them. He moved his way around them until he reached the nipple. He pinched her nipples roughly, and she cried out in joy.

Melissa felt her nipples bounce back, swollen and sore. Svako bent his head down and replaced where his fingers had been with his teeth, flicking her nipple with his tongue. The sensation made her aching body thrust unintentionally. She needed him now as his hand found her other bud and began to squeeze. The pain coupled with the pleasure was overwhelming.
