Prologue
Garrick watched his truck speed out of his driveway and down the graveled lane and wondered if he
had done the right thing. In the morning, Olivia would be upset and angry, wondering what she ever
saw in him. During the next full moon when her first change came upon her, she would hate him. But
it had to be done.
Garrick looked down at Corin’s bloody dead body and knew he’d made the right decision. It was
his heart that disagreed.
Now that Corin was dead, Garrick would become the next alpha pack leader. That was how it
worked in this world. Garrick fought for a long time not to have this happen. He had been happy with
the way things were. When pack members disobeyed certain laws, it had been Garrick’s job as Keeper
of Secrets to reprimand them, usually with brute force. He never wanted to lead a pack. No matter how
often Corin pushed him, Garrick refused to rise to the challenge.
Tonight, however had been different. Corin made a lethal mistake. He hadn’t realized how much
Olivia mattered to Garrick.
When Garrick saw Corin stalking her outside his house, Garrick snapped. There were no more
excuses to back off from Corin’s challenge. He did rise to it...and won.
But it had cost him dearly.
As long as he was alpha pack leader, Olivia would be in danger. Others would come to seek the
claim and if she remained at his side as his mate, she would be his weakness. The one vulnerable thing
about him. She would become a target. He couldn’t let that happen, so he pushed her away. However,
agonizing for them both, she would be safer on her own, away from him.
In time, she would come to hate him. He could live with that as long as she was safe.
Lifting his head, Garrick glanced at Corin’s two generals, Tommy and Smith, who had
accompanied him. “Either of you going to give me any trouble?”
Tommy shook his head of wild red hair. “Nah, mate. I never did like that bastard.”
“Me either,” Smith agreed.
“Then help me with his body. He’s bleeding all over my yard.”
“No problem, Boss.” Tommy reached down and grabbed Corin’s arms.
Boss. That was now his name. And he would have to live with the consequences of his actions.
However painful they turned out to be.

Chapter One
"So you're not going to tell me where we're going?"
"No."
"Not even the slightest clue? A hint?"
"No."
I let out a breath. "You know I'm not a big fan of surprises nowadays."
Jeremiah's green eyes glittered like emeralds in the darkness as his lips turned up slowly into a
sexy smile. "I think you'll like this one."
Swallowing, I hid my body's reaction to his words by turning to look out the window of the
limousine. Gone were the tall buildings and familiar New York City silhouettes I'd seen now for
several months. Wherever this car was taking us was far outside the city limits. The countryside rose
around us, spots of snow still dotting the landscape despite the warmer weather.
Jeremiah's hand smoothed down my leg, giving my knee a squeeze. “We’re almost there.”
Almost where? I bit my tongue, however, as the headlights shone onto a tall set of gates that
opened as we rounded the corner. Trees lined the winding driveway, dense enough to block out the
setting sun. It seemed like forever before the stifling trees open up into a large roundabout leading up
to the biggest house I’d ever seen.
My mouth dropped as I stared up at the structure. Mansion didn’t quite cut it: it looked more like a
castle than a home. The building had at least four stories, with separate wings on each side. Stairs
leading up to the door curved around the driveway, leading to large wood doors. The driver parked at
the base and then opened our door as I continued to stare out.
“Would you like to see inside?”
The humor in Jeremiah’s voice finally got my attention, and I turned to see him holding a hand out
toward me. He was as handsome as ever in a black shirt and pants, his hair pushed back on his head. A
few dark locks still framed the strong face that I’d grown to adore. Taking his hand, I stepped out onto
the driveway, staring again up the giant structure. “And I thought your Hamptons home was large,” I
murmured.
Behind me, Jeremiah chuckled. “Wait until you see inside.”
The Hamilton family mansion had always seemed to me like a fortress, but the house before me
now was similar more to a palace. Everything about the home screamed old wealth. From the lush
greenery and spring color everywhere, to the paver stones that made up the driveway. It wouldn’t have
surprised me if a butler stood near the tall wood doors leading inside, awaiting any guests.
So I was only a bit taken aback when a redheaded woman wearing a corset, heels, and very little
else opened the door. A delicate gold or brass chain was wrapped around her neck like a collar. “My
Master bids you welcome,” she said, her voice a sexy dulcet bell.
I stood there staring, too stunned to move, until Jeremiah’s hand pressed against my back. “Shall
we go inside?”
Snapping out of my stupor, I gave him a perplexed look but walked through the heavy doors,
followed by Jeremiah. The interior was as grand as I’d imagined, opening into an entryway framed by
dark stairs, but it was the furniture that immediately caught my attention. There were no guests
milling about this area, but one willowy lady was seated nearby on...
I squinted, and then blinked in surprise. She seemed to be sitting on a man dressed only in a
loincloth.
Another boy around my age knelt at her feet, his head resting peacefully on her lap. Around his
neck was a black leather collar connected to a chain leash which was wrapped around the woman’s
hand. The lady herself was dressed in a suit that covered her entire body up to the neck, with spiked
heels that looked connected to the ensemble. Nearby, a man appeared carrying a tray of hors d'oeuvres
wearing only a loincloth and a latex mask that completely covered his face.
“Jeremiah,” I murmured through stiff lips, the single word loaded with questions. My eyes
dropped to the waiter’s naked ass u
ntil he disappeared from view.
“If you’re not the least bit intrigued,” he murmured in my ear, “we can leave now.”
Intrigued? That was a mild word for how I felt at that moment. Whatever I’d been expecting, this
wasn’t quite it. “I thought we were going to a party.”
“We are. Shall we go inside?”
I looked at him, and then back through the opening the waiter had just disappeared through. “I
don’t know,” I replied in a low voice. “Are you setting me up for a heart attack?”
He chuckled again beside me, but didn’t try to make me follow. “Gabriel is an old friend of mine.
Our paths diverged after high school but we remained in touch.”
“This is his house?” I felt rooted to the spot, trying not to stare as another group came inside, two
men and a girl. She giggled as one of them swept her up in his arms as the other smacked her clothed
backside. The men took the stairs two at a time before disappearing down one wing of the second
floor. “And what kind of party is this again?” I asked in a faint voice.
“One for Gabriel’s friends.”
“So you’ve been to one these parties before?”
“Several.”
Somehow, I couldn’t quite picture Jeremiah on his hands and knees being used as a Dominatrix’s
seat. My thoughts went to the dominance he’d displayed in bed with me previously, and I cleared my
throat. “I feel really over-dressed right now.”
“You’ll be fine. There’s no need to participate unless you feel the urge.”
Participate?
I clung to Jeremiah’s arm as we walked in to the center of the house. Music with a heavy beat
played inside. When we walked through the entryway my eyes were immediately drawn to several lit
areas along the far wall. A woman dressed in thigh-high boots and a bright red corset was standing
over a younger man who appeared to be groveling at her feet. I could hear her voice but not the words
as she prodded him with the spiked heels. Even from this distance, despite the woman’s actions, I saw
the open adoration on the man’s face.
Nearby beside him, a girl was suspended from the ceiling, covered almost completely in rope. Her
eyes were shut and face serene as a bare-chested man beside her kept a silent vigil. For the most part
however, people lounged around on leather furniture in the large area just chatting. It felt rude for me
to stare, but my eyes grew big when a man walked past me, leading another girl bound in ropes. Her
breasts were on display, surrounded and pushed up by the cord. The knots were almost artful in their
placement, yet the girl’s face showed an odd kind of blissful discomfort I didn’t quite understand.
“So, ah,” I asked, breathless, “you come to these parties often?”
“Not lately,” Jeremiah said, the hand on the small of my back moving lower to cup my backside.
“But I wanted to introduce you to Gabriel.”
Despite my reservations, I sent a sly look up to him. “And that’s all you wanted to do?” Somehow,
I doubted he’d take me someplace like this just to meet an old friend.
One corner of his mouth tipped up. “This lifestyle seems extreme, but its foundation lies in
consent. I would never make you do something like this unless you allowed it.”
“You better not,” I said softly, bumping his arm with my shoulder, and then I swallowed again as
his fingers pinched my ass.
“Doesn’t mean you wouldn’t look delicious bound up for my own pleasure.”
His words lit a fire in my belly, and I drew in a shaky breath. Jeremiah’s hand on me was like a
brand, claiming me as surely as any collar. When I looked around now through a haze of sensual
delight, what I saw intrigued me. I wasn’t sure I wanted to be bound as tightly as some of the women,
or led around by a leash and collar like many we saw.
But it would be fun to find out what that felt like.
“Lucy Delacourt, I would like you to meet Gabriel Steele, one of my oldest friends and the Dom in
charge of this home and party.”
I extended my hand automatically, and then let out a ragged breath as I stared up at Jeremiah’s
friend. And up. Shirtless like this, he seemed even larger, more visceral and powerful. It wasn’t just
his sheer size that drew you – the man had to be close to seven feet tall—but the dominance he
projected. Somehow, I managed to keep the first words that came to mind— “You’re big” —from
escaping my lips as his hand completely enveloped mine.
Gabriel must have read my mind anyway, because the skin beside his eyes crinkled in apparent
amusement. “Ah, Miss Delacourt,” he said, bringing my hand up to his lips, “it’s lovely to meet the
man who tamed Remi here.”
I snorted and rolled my eyes. “Tame is not how I would describe him.”
Gabriel’s eyes flickered to Jeremiah, and then back at me. “Perhaps not,” he said, his mouth
tipping up as he gestured toward me. “You look happy, old friend. Is the beautiful lady here that
reason?”
Pleasure suffused me when Jeremiah nodded. “We may not be participating tonight,” Jeremiah
said, and Gabriel nodded.
“Let me know if you’d like a private room then.” They shook hands. “It really is good seeing you
again, Remi.”
“A private room?” I whispered as Gabriel walked off. I watched as the large man crooked a finger
at a subdued girl in a very revealing sailor outfit, who followed after him quietly as he ascended the
stairs.
“Not everybody likes having their sexual encounters in public.”
“Public?”
Cries from nearby made me turn my head toward the opposing wall. A girl, completely naked, was
spread-eagled against the wall, straps on her ankles and wrists holding her in place. The man beside
her held a short crop in his hand, and with a flick of the wrist he sent it smacking against her backside.
The clap reverberated through the room, as did the girl’s moan of pleasure.
My mouth dropped open, and I looked wide-eyed in the darkness beside them to see another Dom
seated on couch. Between his knees knelt a naked blonde man, his hands bound behind his back. There
was no denying the bobbing motions he made with his head however. The Dom ran his fingers through
the blonde curls, encouraging the up and down motion.
Desire exploded through me. I felt a rush of heat between my legs, the muscles tightening with
need. I couldn’t tear my eyes away. My breathing quickened, goose bumps breaking out over my skin.
Jeremiah dipped his head close to my ear. “You like watching this, don’t you?”
The dark promise in his voice made my voice catch. “How can you tell?” I asked, trying to sound
nonchalant and failing miserably.
He made a pleased sound, lips like butterfly wings against the delicate skin of my ear as he
answered me. “I can smell your desire.”
The simple words electrified my body, setting me on fire. My legs felt like jelly, and I sagged
against Jeremiah. The hand that had been cupping my backside wrapped around my waist, pulling me
back against him. I gasped as I felt the familiar hard lump poking my back.
“I want to take you right now, over the bar right there.” Jeremiah’s voice was harsh, his grip
implacable. “I want everyone to see that you are beautiful and mine to do with as I please.”
My breaths were coming in pants, and I did
n’t protest as he pushed me back against a wall near the
bar. A surprised cry exited my throat as he twisted his hand in my hair and jerked my head back so I
faced him. Longing pierced my core and I clung to him as he bent down and nipped my neck. His hand
slid up the inside of my pant leg, cupping my mound. “Should I take you here so you can watch, my
little voyeur?”
Even with my mind clouded by desire, I still managed to be aware enough to realize we were in
public. As much as I didn’t want to disappoint him, I couldn’t do what I wanted to do while
surrounded by strangers. “I’m sorry,” I whispered, kissing his palm and hoping he would understand.
He released my hair, and then swept me up into his arms. “Never apologize for saying what you
feel,” he said, moving cat-like across the room toward a set of nearby stairs. I held onto his neck as he
moved up them swiftly, never pausing until we were inside a small, dark room. Only then did he set
me down on my feet once again.
A thick piece of glass stretched out at an angle, with a panoramic view of the floor beneath us. I
suddenly realized I’d never thought to look up; through the window, I had a better view than when I’d
been down there. Behind me, I heard Jeremiah close the door and turn the lock.
“Nobody can see inside here. The glass is mirrored on the other side, giving us privacy.”
The only light coming into the dark room was from the downstairs chamber. Jeremiah, still
standing by the door, was lit only faintly, outlining the edges of his face and body. My heart sped up
as he leaned against the wall. “Now,” he said, his voice sharp with command, “strip.”
I knew myself enough by now to realize the trembling in my fingers wasn’t from fear. The fire in
my belly burned brighter with each article of clothing I removed. Jeremiah said nothing as I
unbuttoned my shirt and pants, laying them in a small pile beside my feet. When I got down to my bra
and panties, I hesitated, until I heard his voice rumble, “Everything.”
My bra didn’t worry me too much, but I cast a quick look back as I hooked my underwear with my
thumbs. “You sure nobody can see inside?”
“Are you disobeying me?”
The almost-deadly calm in his voice made me shiver. “No, sir.” Swallowing, I shimmied them
down my legs, praying nobody could see my backside through the glass. The window behind me went
