“Then what do I do?”
He sighed, running a hand through his hair. “I think the question you need to ask is do you really want him or do you just not want to see him with someone else? And when you figure that out, you need to decide if you could see a relationship with him, because he’s already told you what he wants.”
“I don’t even know how to figure any of that out.”
“Maybe that therapist could help you. She was very insightful, but you have to give her a chance to help. There’s something fucked up going on in your head, Florrie. I love you for who you are, but you can’t drag Alec back into something that isn’t going to last.”
“You sound like you don’t approve of me.” I ducked my head to hide the tears slipping down my cheeks. He grabbed me by the arms and made me face him.
“Florrie, you know I love you and I would do anything for you. I don’t approve of how you’ve treated Alec in the past, but you can change that. I would give anything to have the two of you back together again. You two were made for each other. But if you want him at all, you have to figure out what’s preventing you from committing and you need to figure out how to fix it. And you’d better have all those answers before you even think about talking to Alec.”
I nodded and cleared my throat. “I will, I promise.”
“Good. And if you have trouble figuring it out, check out Elle magazine. They have some good tips.”
