“What made you think that?” He asked and sat back on the sofa.

“The other night in the bar. You said you set up scenes with Jackson because you didn’t like to get involved.”

  “Jax said that.”

  “Yes, but you didn’t disagree.”

Ty chuckled once and ran his hands through his hair. “No. I guess I didn’t. Fuck. It killed me to watch you with Jax.”

“Really?” Brooke smiled. “It was wonderful with you and Jackson. You helped me fulfill a fantasy, Ty. But that’s not what I want. It’s not what I need.”

Ty casually slung his arm over the sofa and caressed her shoulder. “This may sound crazy but I think we could be good together. Just. Us. What do you think? I’m in St. Louis every few weeks and phone sex is very underrated,” he said with a wink.

Brooke giggled and reached for him.

“We’ll never know if it can work unless we give it a try. I can’t say good-bye to you, Brooke.” He drew her into his chest and Brooke inhaled his familiar scent.

He kissed her long and hard. But instead of the forceful sex-filled kiss from the night before, this was different. It was more sensual and laden with a promise of things to come.

“Come on, I’ll give you a ride to the airport.” He stood and helped her off the sofa. “Unless—”

  Brooke searched his eyes.

“Unless you want to stay a few extra days in New York and spend Christmas with me.”

She smiled. “That sounds like the perfect holiday,” Brooke answered and led him to the bedroom.
