  Chapter Ten

The road out of Las Vegas traveled between deserts and mountains. His girl was unusually quiet most of the trip, only giving him one word answers to his questions or speaking to tell him which expressway to take. And then it began to rain. He had to decrease speed and turn on the wipers.

“I didn’t think it rained in the desert?” he asked.

Shae continued to look out of the window.

“You know life here might not be that bad. I mean I would miss the beaches. And the sun here is a ruthless bitch. But maybe I can spend half the year here and the other half in Italy. Work it out with the boss. I found some business opportunities he’d be interested in.”

“Stop! Just stop, okay?” Shae said with tears in her eyes.

  “Stop what? Talking?”

“Pretending! You don’t want to stay here. And you don’t want a life with me. All you want is Marietta!” Shae shouted at him.

Carlo’s eyes stretched. “What the fuck are you talking about? I don’t want Marietta.”

“Really? Is that why you bought her Shalimar and hid it in your suitcase? Is that why you make me put it on? So you can pretend you’re fucking her!” she screamed at him.

Carlo frowned. He was being considerate. Shalimar was something Marietta was constantly harassing Lorenzo about ordering. He was going to give it to Lo to give to her. Part of a peace offering between him and Lo to make up for his fuck ups in Las Vegas. Why did Shae constantly keep doubting him?

“Basta, basta!” he shouted enough is enough. He swerved off the road to a stop. An eighteen wheeler blew its horn as it passed them. But no other car followed. “Listen to me, woman. Marietta is my friend. A friend. I am not in love with her. I’m in love with you. I want you to put on the lotion because I want to smell it on you. Only you!”

“Liar!” she got out of the car and slammed the door. The rain came down hard. He got out and popped his collar.

“Shae! Get back in the car.”

Shae started walking down the road as if she wasn’t being soaked by the rain. Carlo went after her. When she saw him running after her, she turned and ran toward the desert. But the wet sand slowed her down. He caught her and immediately she started to attack him. He couldn't pull or hold her she was so wild. And some of her hits hurt. Carlo smiled and put her over his shoulder. He smacked her ass, and she bit his back. He winced and started toward the car. He prayed another vehicle didn't come down the road. He'd probably freak the driver out if the person saw him dragging a screaming woman in the rain from the desert. They reached the car in the dead of dark. He smacked her butt once more and was turned on by the way it shook under her wet dress. Sex right now with her in the backseat would be good. So good. It was extra good when Shae wanted to punish him. He put her down when he saw the headlights of another car approaching.

“Get off me!” she shoved him. “You asshole! Just admit it. You don’t want to move to Vegas. Admit it! I would never fit in your world. Never! I’m not going to give you children. I can’t give you anything. And all you can give me is this! This life!”

  Carlo chuckled.

Shae paced. “Are you laughing at me?”

“Yes. You are fighting with me over lotion.”

"No, I am not! I'm fighting with you because..." She clenched her fist. He waited. "Because... I hate you!"

He wiped his hand down his face to clear it from water. “You hate me?”

“I hate you for making me feel crazy! And sick. My stomach hurts.” She said and put her hand on the car.

  “Was it something you ate?”

“Stop it! It hurts because of anxiety. Because you’re stressing me out. This! All of this is stressing me out!”

“So you hate me because I stress you?”

“Yes! No. I just hate you. I hate your guts!”

  “Come here.”

“Don’t touch me Carlo! I’m serious.”

“It’s raining. Get in the back seat.” He grabbed her by the arm and pulled her toward the back door of the Mustang.

“No! What? What are you doing?”

“I want to fuck!” he said and kissed her.

Shae shoved him off. “Are you crazy?”

“Yes,” he pushed her up against the car. He kissed her. She wrapped her arms around his neck and kissed him back. Bit his lip and tongue. But her sweet body was as soft as a pillow pressed against him in the rain. Another car passed.

He stopped kissing her to look into her eyes. "I don't want to live in Vegas; I want to live with you. I don't give a fuck about a robot wife to clean my clothes and fix my dinner. I want Shae. Only Shae. Our way. What the hell is wrong with you? I'm out here in the rain fighting for you."

She again pushed him back from her. She put her hands to her head. Her demons ran deeper than his own. He could see the madness in her eyes.

“Shae,” he touched her arms. “I love you.”

She nodded and hugged him. The moment the embrace relaxed her, she broke away. She paced in the rain. "Want to hear a poem, Carlo? An American one?”

Another eighteen wheeler blew by and sprayed rain that barely caught them. Shae didn’t seem to notice the rain. But he did. He noticed how beautiful she was under the moonlight. Her dress plastered to her body. Her pink streaked hair flat to her head. She was turning him on, and he resisted grabbing her and forcing her into the back seat. He loved her angry; he loved her when she was happy. He just couldn't get enough of her.

“Want to hear a poem?” she shouted at him again.

He nodded. “Yes, cara, tell me a poem,” he said and glanced to the trunk of the car before checking his watch for the time. “Tell me.”

“It used to hang in Gladys’s kitchen. I would say it over and over again to myself when I ate my cereal. Not sure why. I liked the way it sounded when I said it.”

“Tell me the poem,” he stepped to her.

“Life isn’t about waiting for the storm to pass. It’s about learning to dance in the rain. A woman named Vivian Greene said that. When I was a kid in foster care I loved the rain. I could stand outside in it, and no one would bother me. I was alone, and it felt good to be alone and not afraid. Loneliness protects me. Keeps people from getting close. I’m trying, Carlo. I’m trying to live through the storm. I’m trying to learn to dance even when my life is turning to shit! And if you love Marietta, damn it you need to say so. Because I can’t let you hurt me. I’m not a perfect person. I’ve done some bad things. I’ve been a bad person. I have bad thoughts...”

He reached for her, and she didn't resist. He grabbed her face and kissed her. Shae climbed him. She wrapped her arms around his neck, and he carried her back to the car. But they didn’t make it to the back seat. He stopped to the front of the car with the headlights beaming. He put her down on it. She held on tight to him and kissed him. "I love you," he said, and he meant it. "We'll teach each other to dance in the rain."

He kissed her face and neck. Shae pushed him off. He stumbled back and could barely see her from the bright lights of the Mustang. Shae turned around and drew down her panties. She bent over the car. Her legs parted. Carlo looked up the street. No cars, but one would be coming. He didn’t care. He unzipped his pants and walked up behind her. He pulled out his dick and guided it into her. Shae cried out. He thrust into her again. The storm washed over him. Shae groaned as her body slid up and down the hood after each thrust. While he fucked her, her sweet juicy ass cushioned his pelvis, and her tight cunt constricted and squeezed down on his dick, pulling him in deeper and deeper after every plunge. A big truck rumbled up the road, and the driver had a hell of a view. He blew his horn at them as it breezed by and this time it did spray them with water. Carlo didn’t care. He kept fucking her and holding on to her hips.

“Carlo, don’t come in me,” she pleaded. He wanted to so bad. He wasn’t about to obey. He dropped on her back and kept fucking her. Her pussy was so good.

  “Carlo, please stop.”

  He slammed
his fist down onto the hood and left an impression as he forced himself to stop moving. He pulled out of her as another truck and the car blew by. She turned and faced him panting. Her nipples were clearly seen beneath her bra and the thin fabric of her dress.

“I’m sorry. I don’t know why I do these things.” She covered herself as if ashamed for letting him fuck her on the side of the road.

“Stop apologizing. I never apologize. Only to you, and that’s because I hate when I disappoint you. Fuck the world. Let them see. Let them judge. It’s you and me. Forever.”

“Forever?” Shae smiled. “Say it in Italian and I’ll believe you.”

  “Per sempre,” he said.

He pulled her to him and hugged her. She put his erection back in his pants and pulled up his zipper. Then she clung to him in the rain. Together they swayed. Side to side, and the rain felt as if it parted to let them dance. Shae relaxed. He could tell by the way she hugged him back.

Shae clung to him. The rain soothed her. She wanted to be with him always. No matter how desperate and crazy it sounded. She wanted it. She wanted him. There was a loud banging to the back of the car. Shae lifted her head from Carlo’s chest. She looked back to her car. She heard it again.

“What is that? Is something in the trunk?” she asked.

Carlo let her go and swiped his wet hair back from his face. Shae picked up her panties. Carlo walked around to the trunk. Shae followed. He unlocked it. Shae gasped and stepped back. A young man was in the trunk tied up and gagged.

  “Who is he?”

“Tahvo’s son. I forget his name. He’s going to help us find the girls.”

“You kidnapped him! Are you crazy?” She closed the trunk before another car blew by. “Carlo, if we get caught we will be in so much trouble.”

“These men are walking girls out of the city in broad daylight and dumping the bodies. These men take risks that you don’t understand, Shae. If you want me to find the girls and bring them back, then you have to trust me. Now. Are you going to dance in the rain with me or fight over lotion?”

Shae shook her head smiling. “You’re a crazy man. Do you know that? Creepy crazy!”

“I know,” he winked. Shae went back to the car. She got inside. Carlo got inside. The moment they did a cop flashed his lights. He pulled up on the side of them.

  “Shit!” Shae said.

Carlo rolled down his window, but she saw his gun was in his hand and out of sight.

“Are you two okay? Any car trouble?” The cop asked.

“Yes, sir! We were just talking,” Shae answered. She grabbed Carlo’s wrist to keep his hand and the gun down. The cop looked at Carlo who stared back at him.

“Okay, well keep it moving. It’s dark out here at night.”

“Thank you, sir!” Shae said with a smile.

The cop sped off. Shae let go a deep breath. “You’re going to get us in so much trouble.”

Carlo put the gun in his lap and then pulled off the side of the road and started driving. “You look sexy when you’re wet.”

“I do?” Shae looked down at herself.

“Cop saw your titties. That’s why he let us go.”

Her wet dress and bra might as well have not existed. Her dark nipples were clearly seen through them. She crossed her arm over her chest. Carlo chuckled.

“That’s disgusting. He was a pervert.”

“He’s a man. But yeah, if he kept staring that way I would have had to teach him some manners.”

Shae reached in the glove compartment and pulled out some napkins. She wiped her face. “Where did you get the kid?”

“Not sure. Had some friends pick him up.” Carlo said.

“You have friends in Vegas?” she asked.

“I’m a friendly guy,” he chuckled.

“What if he goes to the police on us?” Shae asked.

“Not going to happen. Shae, these aren’t good people we’re dealing with,” Carlo said.

“But we aren’t good people if we do this, Carlo,” Shae reasoned.

“Who wants to be good people?” Carlo frowned.

“I do. And you are a good person.”

“Why? Because I love you?” he asked.

“Well, yeah! Because you love me.”

“Do you want me to pull over and let him go? Do you want to go back to Vegas and turn to the police to find your friends? Be good people and take Tahvo on through the law? Because if you say so, sweetheart, we can play this out your way.”

Shae glanced to the back seat. She shook her head sadly. "I want to find my friends. I don't want him hurt, though. Can we do both?"

“Yes. That’s what we’ll do. I got the directions to a house in San Diego. We’ll go there and dry out, and then have another talk with our guest. He’ll tell us what we need to know, and I will be a nice guy.”

“So, we won’t need this.” She took the gun from his lap and put it in the glove compartment. She was shocked to see he already had a gun in there too.

Carlo shook his head and continued to drive. Shae glanced over at him. He was definitely more handsome to her tonight. Wet, and being her savior. She was tender below, but she loved the sex with him in the rain.

“Why are you staring at me?” he asked.

“I dunno. I remember when I met you. In the woods in Italy. How I thought you didn’t speak English. And we smoked a joint together. You were so sexy and mean looking. For some reason that turned me on.”

  “Mean looking?” he chuckled.

"I'm addicted to bad men. And that has been dangerous for me. The thing is, Carlo, you’re more dangerous than any man I’ve ever been with.”

“I promise, my lifestyle won’t get in the way of us.”

Shae nodded she accepted his promise. But she had little hope that he would be able to keep it.

  Chapter Eleven

It was a four-hour drive. If it weren’t for the rain, they might have made it sooner. By the time they reached the house, it was close to midnight. Shae got out of the car. Carlo got out next. Shae looked around. There were no lights in the neighborhood. And on the small block they came upon, all the houses were dark. As if abandoned or unoccupied.

“Whose place is this, Carlo?” she asked.

“A friend. It’s ours until we find the girls.” Carlo reached in the back of the trunk and lifted the young man out. Their prisoner didn’t resist. He tossed him over his shoulder like a bag of laundry. Shae went around to the trunk and slammed it shut. She followed Carlo up the steps and inside with her purse on her shoulder. The electricity worked. She turned on the light and found the place modestly furnished. Shae went about closing blinds and curtains to make sure no one could see inside. She didn’t want to take any chances.

"Where are you going?" she called to Carlo who had started climbing the stairs carrying the young man. She went after him in fear. She didn't want anyone hurt. Carlo went into what he found to be the bathroom, and he put the boy in the tub.

  “Why there?” Shae asked.

"Not easy for him to get out. Come on; he's fine." Carlo walked her out of the bathroom. She wasn't certain, but she let him lead her away. Together they went back down the stairs.

  “What do we do now?”

“We wait. He needs to be scared.”

“You don’t think he’s scared now?” she asked.

“Not yet. He will be in a few hours. Enough to do what I want.” Carlo peeled off his wet shirt. “Have you checked the kitchen?”

“No.” Shae followed him. Carlo handed his shirt over to her and opened the fridge. He pulled out beers. “They were expecting us. Food is here. Sandwich meat and things.”

Shae went to the fridge and discovered he was right. The place must be a hold up spot of sort. She closed the fridge and saw a laundry room. “Get undressed. I’ll dry our clothes. In all this drama we forgot to pack clothes.”

“We won’t be in San Diego long,” Carlo said and dropped his boxers and underwear. Shae collected his wet
clothes. She decided to wash their things, except for his pants. Those she hung up in the laundry room to dry. She returned to the kitchen naked. Carlo stopped drinking his beer. She knew that look. She knew what she had to do to help fix things, and make sure Carlo didn’t hurt that young man upstairs.

“You want to go lay down with me, baby?” she asked.

He nodded. She extended her hand to him. Shae grabbed her purse and walked him up the stairs. She entered the first room to the left side of the bathroom. It was a bedroom. And the bed was made up. Carlo pulled her, and she turned to face him.

“Be gentle,” she breathed as he kissed her neck and squeezed her ass with both hands. “I’m still a little tender.”

“Want me to kiss it?” he asked, breathing hard. His penis poked her angrily.

“No. Let’s do it from the back. Let me get on my knees,” she said.

“I thought it hurt that way earlier on the car?” he asked. “Maybe you should get on top? And show me your pussy again while I fuck you.”

“No. From the back. I want it that way. Come on my ass. Not inside me. Okay?” she looked at him.

Carlo grinned and nodded. In her purse she’d brought some Tegaderm and applied it over her sex. Shae crawled across the bed and got up on all fours. Carlo came up behind her. Shae’s clit was stimulated by the rub of his spry pubic hairs before he entered her. And she gasped and came. She’d never felt that aroused so instantly before. Her body was changing her. Her clit tingled when his balls smacked her sensitive lips. She gripped the sheets and put a dip into her back to make her ass blossom up to him.

“I want to lick it.” He said. “One lick?”

  “No, Carlo.”

  “Please?”

“No!” she laughed. Shae had no idea how well she had healed, and she knew even if she were healed, his tongue action may give her cardiac arrest she was so sensitive now. For the first time since she experienced it, she didn’t want Carlo to give her oral sex.

“Mmmm.” He groaned and fed her pussy inch by inch of his length. Carlo pulled out and thrust in her quivering channel again. He rocked against her body, and she felt him go deep. The in and out motion was a stimulus. Before she’d have to touch herself while he screwed in her to rise to the point of climax Not anymore. Shae bit down on her bottom lip, and her eyes squeezed her eyes tightly shut. Her mind was swimming as it tried to catalog each sensation. She met every thrust with a shudder and a round-like swirl of her hips.
