Liza’s smile vanished, and her eyes grew a bit wider.
“With someone like me,” I continued, brushing the back of my knuckles along her jaw. “You’re thinking that you’ve totally misjudged me and that I’m not at all the impossible guy—” I rolled my eyes to mimic her. “—you always thought me to be.”
Her lips parted slightly. One of her hands slipped from my neck and rested softly against my chest. Yeah, I’d stunned her with what I read in her eyes, but I wasn’t done yet. “And you’re thinking that you might be actually falling for me.”
The way she gazed at me now had me wondering if she’d forgotten how to breathe again. I pulled my cap off her head and placed it back on, reversing it. Then I touched my brow to hers. “Do you want to know what I am thinking now?”
She gave a shy nod, her warm breath caressing my skin.
“I think it’s time that you know I’m in love with you, Liza. That you’ve been my very own sunshine for a very long time. And that I don’t intend to let you ever get out of my arms again.”
It took only a slight tilt of my head to meet her lips with mine. Soft and tender, she felt like my personal little piece of heaven. The taste of her mouth when I invaded her with my tongue made my head spin. Liza had developed a certain talent for kissing that always threatened to make me lose control and forget everything around us.
For a moment, our tongues twisted around each other while our lips barely touched. With one hand at the back of her neck, I pressed her toward me a little harder, turning our light kiss into something deep and wicked. Her fingers clawed my shirt, and she pressed herself against me in a way that had me thinking of skin rubbing on skin and what I wanted to do with her when I would throw her over my shoulder and carry her up to my room.
Panting, Lisa pulled away from me, and from only two inches apart, our gazes locked. I wiped my thumb across her swollen bottom lip. “What’s wrong, sunshine?”
She took a deep breath, smiling briefly. “You were right with everything you said before. But you got one thing wrong.”
“So? What did I get wrong?”
Her hand shaped against my cheek, something she always did when she was about to give a little bit more of herself to me. “I’m not falling for you, Ryan Hunter,” she said and narrowed her eyes, slowly shaking her head. Then a perfect smile curved her lips. “I’m already in love.”

To my dear readers!
A few months ago, I made the best decision ever. I hit the publish button for PLAY WITH ME. But in my wildest dreams, I didn’t believe that so many of you would fall in love with Liza and Ryan. I’m getting the loveliest emails from you ever day, telling me thanks for writing such a sweet love story. Now, I think it’s time to say THANKS to each and everyone of you for supporting me, encouraging me, and cheering me on to keep writing. Without you, RYAN HUNTER would have never been born. I hope you’ll all enjoy and fall in love with Ryan once again!
From the heart,
Piper
