“You and your so-called sister over there are dumb if you think you know the truth. But I’ll let you live happy with the lie.” She grinned.
Before Cali could get another word out, the guards gave her a shot, and it put her to sleep. They dragged her off, and in my head, I said my goodbyes. I didn’t plan on ever seeing this woman again. “Cali, let’s just go. I don’t ever want to come back here.”
Cali was staring off into space not paying attention to me. I’m guessing she was pondering on what my Aunt said. “Cali!” I called her name, and she jumped.
“Sorry. I was just-just thinking. Let’s go,” she said walking away. She looked back a few times before we made it out the rehab center. I heard what she said, but I didn't think anything of it. She was a drug addict, and she used to say anything to get under my skin. I knew she had to be just stirring up issues.
We got in the car, and Cali said nothing the entire ride. “Cali, I think she was lying. She’s lied to me my entire life. You can’t trust her word,” I spoke up. She still said nothing. She was really in deep thought. She could have been thinking about Compton and him cheating on her. “Are you thinking about, Compton?”
“No! Fuck him. Trifling ass,” she spat, and I tried not to snicker, but it slipped. It wasn’t funny, but at the same time, it was. I felt they were meant to be by how they went back and forth. I’m looking forward to this when I get older.
We finally pulled up to the house and Compton had people outside packing the truck with suitcases. “What the hell is this negro up to?” Cali asked, stepping out of the car. I followed behind her. “Compton what the hell is this and where are all these people going with my stuff?” she quizzed as soon as Compton came into sight.
“We taking a family trip. Amber get in the truck with, Mona. Lil’ momma you in the whip with me. Let’s go,” he ordered.
“Hell no. I’m not going anywhere with your trifling ass. You out here cheating on me and you expect me to go on a trip with you? Nope, not gone happen,” Cali shot back. Compton walked up to her so quick that even I got whiplash.
“First off, chill that cheating shit out because I told ya’ ass I ain’t do nothing with that bitch. Now you can think what you want, but at the end of the day, you gone get ya’ ass in this car. We taking a family trip whether you want to or not. Now you can get in the car willingly, or I can stuff ya’ ass in the trunk. Your choice.”
“You wouldn’t dare.”
“Try me, Cali,” he warned. They did a stare down for a good minute until Cali finally gave in. Rolling her eyes, she stomped to the car and got in.
“She’ll be happy once she sees what you have planned for her,” I said to Compton.
“Her ass better be,” he replied. He gave me a hug and kiss on the forehead before putting me in the car. I was excited. I knew what he had planned for Cali and me. This was going to be the best birthday ever.
CHAPTER 18
CALI: MORE THAN A BIRTHDAY WISH
“So, you’re going to continue to lie to me?” I asked Compton when we finally got settle on the private plane. “I know you fucked her. It’s you. It’s what you do so you can’t sit here and say-,”
“Cali if you gone talk about this shit the whole time then I’m putting on these beats,” he interrupted me.
“I swear you are so rude! Uggggh!” I let out a frustrated sound.
“You acting like a fucking child right now,” he mumbled. That was it for me. Now I know he was just trying to piss me off.
“So you tell me you want to go on a family trip but sitting here being rude to me.”
“Cali, you the one exercising ya’ mouth for no reason. I told you I ain’t cheat and I ain’t gone keep saying it. Believe me or not but either way we rocking till the wheels fall off. Ain’t no divorcing and ain’t no separation. You gone believe me and we gone move past this shit because it’s petty as fuck,” he spat.
“Compton it’s not petty. You were seen with a woman in three different compromising scenes. You want me to believe you got too drunk, she spilled coffee on herself and that she was testing you? Like you really want me to believe that? Like, am I that dumb to you?” I quizzed now standing in front of him with my hands placed on my hips.
“Nah I don’t think you dumb but you somewhere in that category right now,” he mumbled again chuckling, but I didn’t find shit funny. “Cali that’s the truth, and if you ain’t accepting it, then I don’t know what to tell you. Now get ya’ pussy out my face unless you want me to eat it.” He grinned. Now I knew he was really doing this to get under my skin.
“You know what, Compton, you may think this shit is funny, but it’s not. I will not be treated like how you treated, Monique. I’m not her, and you will not treat me like her. If you want to fuck other women then do that but do it being single not being married to me,” I said, walking away from him. I went to the back of the plane where Mona and Amber were and sat down.
I loved Compton and no doubt I wanted to be with him but I could not keep feeling like this. Like he was cheating on me. No woman wants to have this feeling. I glanced over and Amber, and she was rocking Mona to sleep. She was so good with her. “So your sixteenth birthday is next week. Hopefully, we will be home by then. What did you want?” I asked her.
“I just want anything that has to do with music. Maybe like a guitar or violin. A piano would be nice too. It would help with my singing career,” she answered.
“Amber I didn’t know you sing,” I said in surprise.
“Yea, no one knows. I don’t like to brag or anything. Well, the only person who knows is, Mona. I sing to her every night.” She smiled.
“Who would have known? So do you want to be the next Rhianna or Beyoncé?”
“Neither. I’m more of an India Arie mixed with Jill Scott. I love them both.” I saw how her eyes lit up when she talked about music. For the remainder of the flight, I talked to Amber about a lot of random stuff. We finally fell asleep, and I woke up I don’t know how many hours later to Compton shoving me.
“Mmmmm. What?” I asked irritated.
“Lil’ momma wake up. We here,” he said, grabbing Mona from my arms.
“Here where?” I asked, sitting up. I wiped my eyes before trying to stand. I looked out the window to figure out where I was. “Are we-,”
“Cali come on baby. I got some shit for you,” He said, sounding all happy now.
“I don’t care what you have for me, Compton. I’m only here so-,” I was saying as I walking down the stairs when I heard screams.
“HAPPY ABOUT TO BE BIRTHDAY!” All my family members screamed out. The Banks family was there as well as my momma and her little family. I was so overwhelmed that I began to tear up. I wanted my birthday to be in Jamaica, and here it is. I’m in Jamaica for my birthday weekend.
“Oh, my God! I can’t believe-this is just-Ahhh.” I couldn’t even get the words to come out right. I had never really had a big gathering for my birthday because I didn’t really have friends. Everyone was scared of my father, so they didn’t even want to come over. It was always me, him and a cupcake. Even last year, all I did was go to Momma Banks house and have a dinner. Compton gave me sex for my birthday gift. This year, it was more thought out, and I was happy with that.
“See I told you I got you lil’ momma. This shit about to be epic,” Compton whispered in my ear as he hugged me from behind. I wanted to push him away because I wasn’t quite sold on his story about the video. His touch was something I fell weak to. So, for now, I will sweep it under the rug so I could enjoy my birthday, but as soon as were back in the states, I want real answers.
“Thank you, Compton. I really appreciate this.” He wrapped his hand around my neck and turned it sideways. He blessed my lips with a soft kiss and then he slid his tongue in my mouth. In front of everyone, he slid his hands down my jeans and began rubbing on my wet pussy.
“Compton cut it out before I come up there and slap you. Ol’ nasty ass. Ugh,” Momma Banks spat.
I tried to pull away but Compton wouldn’t let me go, and I was getting so turned on. It was weird because my family was watching but doing this in public excited me.
“You like when I do this shit don’t you?” he whispered in my ear still playing with my moist center. Everyone was yelling for us to stop and making nosing as if they were disgusted. “You like putting on a show, don’t you?”
“Yes, baby I like it,” I confessed, and he chuckled, removing his hand from my jeans.
“Yea, I know.” He smirked, grabbing my hand and leading me down to where everyone was.
“You know you nasty as hell for that right,” I heard Missy say.
“Missy! You’re here!” I screeched giving her a hug. She was my best friend so being without her for months felt like years. “Where’s Quan?”
“Girl getting searched by the Jamaican police because he was getting high on the boat. They gone let him go but I told them to make his ass sweat.” She snickered. “So, are you ready to party?’
“Y’all throwing me a party?”
“A party?” Sean said, emerging from the crowd. “We throwing you the party. We got floats, and the streets gone be blocked off. We basically throwing a parade. Shit gone be dope.”
“I’m throwing the party, Sean not we. Why you always trying to take credit for shit?” Compton asked in a joking manner.
“I came up with it.”
“Nigga you ain’t come up with shit,” Compton spat.
“Both of y’all shut up because neither one of y’all came up with it. It was all me now shut up and let’s go get ready for this party,” Missy interjected.
“Wait-,” Lee said, pulling me to the side. I was now standing in front of her and some handsome young man. “Cali, baby this, Monty’s son I told you about,” she said, smiling.
“Wah gwaan? Mi guess yuh mi new sista,” he spoke in his native tongue. Man was he good looking. He had light, smooth skin and shoulder length blonde dreads. His eyes were a greenish color, and he had a nice body on him. Not that I was checking for my brother, but he was easy on the eyes.
“Yea. An mi guess yuh mi new bredda. Nice to meet yuh. Mi, Cali,” I introduced myself. I reached out my hand, but he grabbed it and pulled me into him for a hug. Thank God, he was family.
“Wi fambly. We nuh duh handshakes. Wi hug,” he said to me after he released me. All I can do was smile. I always wanted siblings, and God had blessed me with two. I introduced him to Amber, and he was looking at her like we wanted to strip her naked and pounce on her.
“Aye, keep an eye on ya’ new brother. I don’t like the way he looking at Amber. He islooking at her like I looked at you when we first met,” Compton whispered in my ear.
“And how was that?”
“Like I wanted to fuck,” he boldly replied. I wouldn’t expect any other reply from him.
“Okay well this was nice, but I’m ready to party,” I shouted, throwing my hands in the air. We all walked off to a set of trucks that were waiting for us, and we drove to a huge mansion. Which was my mom’s house. I remembered it. As we were driving, we passed the city, and I began to miss my home. Jamaica was all I knew and all I wanted to know. California was nice, but Jamaica was my home. If I could, I would move back the first chance I got.
“Oh, wow! This house is huge. Is this your house, Ms. Lee?” Amber asked when we pulled into the garage.
“You know it is. I don’t do nothing small sweetie,” she shot back with a grin. We all got out the car and went inside. Lee said she had something for me, so she leads me to the room she kept me in when I was here. “It’s crazy how I really had this room decorated as if you were a little girl knowing that you were grown as hell.” She laughed and so did I. “I guess I was hoping you would still be the little naïve little girl that didn’t know what was going on. That way you would still love me regardless of my faults, and I have a hell of a lot of them.”
“Lee, you're growing on me and I do love you. We're past that but we have to always be honest with each other.”
“What do you mean by that? I have been honest with you from the beginning.”
“Well, I don’t know. I don’t want to doubt you Lee but I went to go see Amber’s foster mom. She mentioned or better yet implied that you lied to me about the story you told me. Is there anything you want to clear up or were you being completely honest?” I quizzed. I needed to be sure I could trust this woman that I invited back into my life.
“Cali, I gave you the truth. That woman is sick with all the drug’s that’s in her. You can’t believe anything she says. Just know that from here on out, I will be one hundred with you.” She smiled. The way she did it made it seem like she could have been hiding something, but this was my mother. She went through a lot to get me, and I have waited so long to be with her. I didn’t want to lose her by accusing her of lying. If she was, then I just pray I never found out.
“Okay well, I believe you. Now, what’s my surprise?” I asked now anxious.
“Okay, so since this is like a parade theme, I got you the perfect outfit,” she said, walking over to the closet. She opened it up slowly, and my mouth dropped. It was a turquoise body suit that was decorated with red, gold and purple jewels. There were two huge angel wings coming out the sides with peacock feathers. And the crown had long feathers coming from the top. This was the most extravagant outfit I had seen in my life.
“Wow!” was all I could say. That’s how speechless I was.
“Well don’t just stand there. Go get in the shower and put it on. Your party starts in an hour.” I took a few steps towards her and hugged her neck so tight. This was so exciting. Though I had been feeling sick, tired and moody these last few months, this one day took away all of that. I was more than overjoyed.
“Thank you, mom,” I whispered finally calling her by the name God gave her for me. I could feel her smile on my shoulder. We embraced for what seemed like forever until I finally let her go. She kissed me on my cheek and walked away. As soon as the door closed, I rushed to get in the shower. I was in there for about fifteen minutes before I got out and oiled up my body. While naked, I stood in the mirror and admired my stomach. I smiled just thinking about it.
“God works in mysterious ways.” I cheesed hard in the mirror. I called Missy in the room, and she helped me get dressed. The outfit was so heavy; I damned near fell over. They had to hold me up until I got used to the weight. I took a few selfies and uploaded some videos on Instagram before meeting my family outside. They were all waiting for me in their parade outfits.
“Shit gawd damn,” Sean hissed at me when he saw.
“Sean!” Compton yelled walking up to him. He threw his hands up in defense and laughed. “Stop trying me before I forget we blood,” he warned.
“My bad cuz, but baby girl looking good,” Sean admitted, making me blush.
“Close ya’ fuckin’ eyes and stop staring. That pussy and that ass belong to me. Matter of fact, everybody close ya’ eyes. Everybody needs to be Stevie Wonder in this bitch,” Compton spat, jealously before walking up to me. He wrapped his arms around me and smiled.
“You know you fucking up my vision with ya’ fine ass, right?” he joked, causing me to giggle. “We gone have fun tonight, and we gone get drunk as fuck and then fuck allllllll night.”
“As fun as that sounds, I’m not in a drinking mood, but we can definitely fuck all night. We can start on the float.” I winked. I grabbed his hand and led him to the big float they had for me. We all got on and drove down the blocked off street. I didn’t even know all these people who were surrounded the streets. I’m sure my mom and Monty knew them all. I felt famous as I twerked my little booty to the Jamaican music.
Compton was posted behind me with his hands on my hips as I grinded against his stiff dick. Missy was in front of me twerking on Quan. Momma Q and Banks were drunk on the other side of the boat. Monty and my mom were dancing looking all in love. I glanced to my left, and I could see Sean kissing on his girlfriend. I wa
s happy he was happy with her. Then I spotted Omario in the corner talking to Amber who had Angel glued to her hip. I made sure to keep my eye on him. Mona was with Monty’s mothers so tonight I was going to stay out all night.
“You having a good time, lil’ momma?” Compton asked with his lips pressed up against my ear.
“Yes. Thank you again, Compton.”
“Don't thank me now. Wait till you see what I got for ya’ birthday. You gone loose ya’ fucking mind.” I smiled to myself because I knew it had to be big. I couldn’t wait, and all I had was a couple of days to go. The countdown for my surprise began tonight.
CHAPTER 19
COMPTON: DEFINITION OF A CHANGED MAN
Today was a big day for Cali and me though she had no idea. I had some shit planned for her that I knew that she would appreciate. I had been planning this for a minute, and I knew it was going to set us off on the right path. This was a big step for me as a man and a husband, and I prayed she saw my heart in this. But first I had to take care of my little sister. It was Cali’s birthday today, but we wanted to give Amber her present today. Her birthday was about a week away, but we had her gift ready.
“Amber!” I yelled from the bottom of the stairs. “Cali, you got the camera ready?” I asked her.
“Yes, Compton it’s ready for the fifteenth time,” she answered. We were all posted downstairs because everybody wanted to get her reaction. When we saw her coming, we tried to put on our best poker face.
“You guys look suspicious,” she said, reading our ass like a book.
“Ain’t shit going on. Just come outside for a minute. We want your opinion on something,” I told her, taking her hand. My momma opened the door, and we walked outside. “What you think about that shit right there?” I asked her.
When her eyes landed on the yellow G wagon, she nearly lost her mind. “OH, MY GOD! OH MY GOD! YOU GOT ME A CAR! OH MY GOD!” she repeated, jumping up and down. She ran over to the car and felt on it like it was a damn pet or something. I was dying laughing. “Is she all mine?” she asked.
