“You don’t have to do that. Honestly. I don’t mind being alone.” She didn’t think she’d be able to handle all of James’s attention onto her.
“I’m not a monster,” he said.
She looked at him doubtfully. He wasn’t exactly an easy man, and so far, she couldn’t even judge if he was a nice man.
“Erm, what do you want to do?”
“I want to spend some time with you. You had fun in the pool yesterday. How about we try that?”
With lots of water separating them. It sounded like a good plan.
She nodded her head as Drake entered the dining room. He looked really happy, and she forced a smile to her lips. She couldn’t help it. When it came to James she couldn’t help but feel he was up to something.
“I was wondering if my parents had called?” she asked.
Abby noticed the change in the two men instantly. They seemed to tense up at her question and part of her wished she hadn’t asked it, but she had to. They were still her parents, even if they didn’t act like it.
You don’t even like them.
Yeah, but if I don’t make contact soon, they’ll find an excuse to visit.
Could she trust James? Tell him the truth of her fears?
“I have possession of your phone. Why do you want it?”
She nibbled her lip.
“You miss your parents that much?” Drake asked.
She saw the flick of anger in his gaze, and she hated that he thought so badly of her.
“It’s not that. It’s … if you don’t answer, they’ll find an excuse to come here.”
“Excuse me?” James asked.
She wanted the floor to open up and swallow her whole. “I’m not trying to scare you or blackmail you. To be honest, I don’t want to have anything to do with them. I don’t know what they’ve said to you or got on you for this marriage to have even been considered.”
“What do they have on you?” Drake asked.
“I’m not telling. Not unless you’re willing to tell me the truth.” She looked from Drake to James then back again.
She liked Drake.
Apart from that flash of anger she’d caught sight of moments ago, he seemed like a nice guy. Not that she was any judge of that.
“Forget it.”
“I’ll call them. Let them know you’re having a good time.”
“Okay.” She stared down at her food, her appetite disappearing at the thought of James and her mother talking.
“What is it?” Drake asked. He reached out, touching her hand. She appreciated the contact, but it wouldn’t do her any good.
“It’s nothing.”
“There clearly is. Rather than lie why won’t you just tell me?” James said. “I can help you or we can go back to me hating you.”
“You still hate me,” she said, glaring at him.
This conversation was starting to give her a headache. Rubbing at her temples, she wondered if she could ask to go and lie down.
“No, I don’t hate you. I’ve decided that I’m willing to make this marriage work, Abby. I want you to be my wife in the full sense of the word.”
She stared at James, sure she’d misheard him. “What?”
“You heard me. I want you to be my wife, in my bed. I’m not getting any younger, and after last night, I want to give this a try.”
Out of the corner of her eye she saw Drake eating his breakfast.
Did he have any idea of what happened last night?
No, it couldn’t be possible.
He’d not been there.
It had just been her and James.
There’s no way out for you. Not if you want to keep your freedom.
Make it work.
Help James to make this work.
Give him a chance to see that you’re not a monster like he thinks you are.
“Okay. I don’t want us to have an awful marriage. I know it’s not what you want, but I want to give this a shot.” She smiled at him.
“Good. So, I think it’s only fair that we take our time. It has been a long time since I went for a swim. I think a change is as good as the rest. Eat your breakfast, Abby. I’ll join you.”
She nodded.
Finishing up her pancakes, she felt a little happier and a little less scared. If they were willing to give this a go, they had a chance.
Her parents would stay off her back and she’d be able to live her life in some form of freedom.
Yes, this could really work.
She wasn’t about to start planning the future, but she wasn’t going to allow negative thoughts about what was to become of her life affect her either.
****
“I don’t like this,” Drake said.
James watched Abby’s ass as she left the dining room. She was going to the pool house while he finished his breakfast.
Returning his attention to his man, he sat back.
“You want her gone?”
Drake frowned at him. “I don’t know.”
Last night, while he’d been balls deep in Drake’s ass, he’d been okay with the plan. Now, seeing her this morning, James saw that Drake was struggling.
“What part don’t you like?” James asked.
“The part where we use her to get what we want and toss her out of our lives as if she’s nothing.”
“She is nothing,” James said.
“We’ve both agreed she’s not like her family.”
“It doesn’t mean I want her in my life. Regardless of how good she is, she’s not staying here. I’m not having a Bryant be my wife and the mother of our children.”
“We shouldn’t have allowed ourselves to get caught,” Drake said, getting to his feet. “We’d talked about having a woman to call our own.”
“We were going to decide who, together.”
“Why not let it be Abby? Last night you had me where you wanted me. I couldn’t think straight, let alone make a sound decision. What if she’s genuine, James? Could you do that to someone like her?”
James looked at the man who’d been by his side through everything. He loved Drake more than anything else in the world.
They’d been together over ten years now.
Both of them wanted a woman, but a woman to share.
James’s reputation had held them back. Neither of them had wanted their life dragged through the mud in order to make a quick buck. Their story was their own, and because he was fucking rich, women wanted to exploit him.
One mistake.
That was all it was.
He and Drake had gone to a fucking nightclub. He’d gotten a client he’d been working ten months to acquire. It was a victory, a celebration, and he’d pushed Drake up against an alleyway, and he’d sucked his cock. High on alcohol, on happiness, and on everything.
That was where Abby’s parents came in.
They’d been to the same club, they had realized who he was. They had filmed the entire thing and gotten photographs.
Come Monday morning it had been a rude awakening for him when her mother and father requested a meeting. When he’d declined, his secretary was given an envelope of some of the images they had. They’d warned him that if he turned them away, they were going to make a lot of money out of them.
They now had access to more with his marriage to Abby.
“Find out what they have on Abby,” James said.
“What?”
“You heard me. The plan still stands. She is going to end up fucking you and I’m going to have the leverage I need. Do you understand? But I won’t act until I know more. If they have nothing on her, then Abby is going down. You follow my rules.”
“And if they have something?”
“We’ll make a decision closer to the time. For now, stick to the plan.”
“Fine. I can handle that.” Drake got to his feet. “Until then, no more good times for you.”
Drake didn’t even kiss him as he left the room.
James shook his head and made hi
s way out to the pool.
Standing in the doorway, he watched Abby floating on her back, much like he’d found her last night. Her hands were waving through the water. She looked so calm and relaxed.
Are you a good girl or a bad girl, Abby?
He wouldn’t be fooled by a woman, not ever again. Drake was always too caring, too trusting.
James needed to take care of the both of them. Bring Abby down and make sure Drake is safe.
“Nice,” James said, pointing at the red bathing suit.
“Thank you. I used another from the drawer. I hope that’s okay.”
Drake had been the one to go out shopping. He’d wanted her to have as much comfort as possible. Of course, James had not cared either way. He was marrying her to save them both.
He wasn’t embarrassed about loving Drake.
Both of them had realized at a young age and early into their relationship that they wanted to keep theirs private. People didn’t try to interfere if they didn’t know anything.
“That’s more than okay. Drake got the right size.”
He removed his shirt, pulling it off over his head.
James caught her watching, and he didn’t have a problem with that.
He wanted her to watch, to look, to take her fill.
Toeing off his boots, he moved to his belt. Staring into her eyes, he dropped his pants, and next, he went straight for his boxer briefs.
“What are you doing?” she asked.
“Getting naked. I only swim in the nude.”
He dropped them, and she covered her eyes.
“What are you, twelve?” he asked.
“How can you have flocks of women surround you wherever you go? You’re so mean.”
“What makes you think I have flocks of women?” he asked, stepping into the water. He was quiet, and she still had her hand up covering her eyes.
“I’ve seen the magazines. I know that you’re never alone. There’s always a woman on your arm.”
He smiled.
Did she sound a little jealous?
He waited until he was close enough to her that he could reach out and touch her before speaking.
“Haven’t you ever been told to not believe everything you read?” he asked. As he spoke, she gasped, whirling around, and as she tried to pull away, he caught her hand and pulled her close.
With both hands on her hips, he moved her legs so that they were wrapped around his waist.
“Perfect,” he said.
“Why are you doing this?”
“Why am I doing what?”
“Why are you being nice to me?” she asked. “I’m not an idiot. I know you want something.”
He rolled his eyes. “I’m trying to make the best of a bad situation and you think I’m up to something.”
“We’ve been married a handful of hours, and for most of them so far you’ve wanted a way out of it. I want a way out of this too.”
“You do?”
“Yes. I don’t want to stay married to a man that doesn’t like me, but I don’t want to be a pawn in my parents’ game. It’s too much.”
“Tell me why you’re so afraid of them?”
“I’m not afraid of them.”
“No? Then why be forced into a situation?”
She gritted her teeth and shook her head. “No.”
“No? You don’t trust me.”
“Not even a little bit.”
“That’s fine. I don’t need your trust.” He grabbed the back of her head and pulled her down. “Just your submission.” He took possession of her lips, and they were so soft against his own.
The moment they touched, he didn’t want to stop.
This was dangerous. Abby couldn’t be the one. There’s no way he’d ever want her.
But for now, while they were married, he was going to enjoy her.
Chapter Five
James’s lips were hard as they pressed against her own. Part of Abby wanted to push him away, to tell him to get away from her, that she didn’t want to be anywhere near him. But then, as his tongue traced the flesh of her lips, she found herself submitting to him.
When she opened her lips, he plundered inside, and she cried out at the instant shot of pleasure from his kiss alone.
It was so addictive, she couldn’t stop herself from gripping his shoulders, not wanting to let him go, not ever.
Eyes closed, she felt his other hand stroking up and down her back. The touch was so light, so tempting, so sweet. Would it be so hard to give him what he wanted?
Don’t forget, you want this as well, Abby.
You stayed awake so long last night thinking about him. Wanting him to come to your bedroom to show you how good it could be with his mouth.
There was no denying it.
She hated James, but she wanted him.
His cock pressed against her stomach. He was so hard and so long. It took her breath away at the sheer size of him.
Would he even be able to fit inside her?
She couldn’t think straight, not as he kneaded her ass, his fingers teasing beneath the fabric of her suit.
“You look like you could use some help getting this off.”
“I don’t want to be naked.”
“You’ll love it.”
“No.” Even to her own ears that didn’t sound like a command.
He pulled the strap of her bathing suit down and then the other one. He eased it past her breasts, and this time, he groaned. “They are so beautiful. Such pretty tits. One day I’m going to fuck them,” he said.
“What? You can’t do that.”
“You have no idea just how much pleasure I can give you.” Both of his hands pressed her tits together. “See that valley?” His tongue licked at the spot, and she gasped.
“There?”
“There. My sweet little virgin. I’ll have your mouth get me nice and wet and then I’ll fuck those tits, coming all over your face. Maybe give you a pearl necklace.”
“Why do you say these things?” she asked.
“Because I can. Because I like it. I don’t beat around the bush, Abby. I say things that I mean, and I don’t take shit. Life is too damn short to not take what you want.”
“Is that what you’ve been doing? Taking?”
“Everything I am and everything I have is because I didn’t allow others to boss me around.”
It was on the tip of her tongue to mention her parents, but she didn’t want to spoil the moment. Her parents left a bad taste in her mouth, let alone talking about them with James. They had a hate relationship right now, but he didn’t seem to grasp that she was in the same position as he was. They controlled her even if she didn’t want them to.
She loosened her legs from around his waist and helped him kick off the rest of her bathing suit.
“See, that wasn’t so hard.”
“I can’t believe I’m naked in the pool.” He put her legs back around his waist. There was nothing to protect her now. “I can’t believe I just said that.”
“I’m wondering if you possess a filter in your mouth.”
She frowned. “I have no idea what to do or say right now. I’m naked. You could have sex with me.”
“I could.”
“My mom took away my pills,” she said.
This made him still.
“This is so embarrassing. I can’t even believe I’m discussing this, but hopefully you can see we’re on the same side.”
“Same side?”
“Yes. That’s what she wanted me for. Why she took me away from you on the dance floor.” She’d had no intention of telling him this, but if he was willing to give her a chance then she was going to take it. There was nothing wrong with telling him the truth, with letting him know she wasn’t a bad person.
She wasn’t.
In her spare time she went to the animal shelters and helped volunteer. She didn’t lose her temper. Nor did she cuss. She gave her spare change to anyone she passed who was sleeping rough.
All of her life, she’d been good, helping others as she’d been told to do.
“My mom wanted me to get pregnant with your baby. If you’re wanting to make this real then, I need your help to get back on the pill or you’re going to have to wear condoms. I … please don’t hate me more than you already do.”
She hated how pitiful she sounded.
Great, Abby, just great.
“I’m not going to hate you.” He moved her so that her back was pressed against the side of the pool. “I’m also not going to fuck you our first time in the pool. When I take you, it’s going to be in our bed. Exactly where a virgin should lose her cherry to her husband.”
His hand had moved between them, and he started to stroke her.
Before she knew what was happening he had her on her back. She floated above the surface and she gasped as he leaned down and licked her pussy.
“I did say I was going to taste this sweet cunt.” He latched onto her clit, sucking the bud into his mouth. She had nothing to hold onto. The water didn’t help. She kept falling under and coming up, panting.
She heard him chuckle, and he lifted her up.
Within a matter of minutes, her back was to the floor and they were out of the water.
“Now, I can have a taste of this sweet pussy.” He spread her legs wide.
She closed her eyes, feeling his tongue sliding through her slit, teasing around and down then back over, across. All around her clit, he kept on stroking, driving her crazy with need. She couldn’t control her pleasure, not that she wanted to.
He was pushing her closer and closer to the edge.
“Please, please,” she said, wanting everything he gave her.
Suddenly, he pulled back, and she whimpered.
“Why did you stop?”
“Because I want you to watch me suck your pussy.” He moved her so that she was sitting in a chair, her legs spread, and he forced her to watch. Every time she closed her eyes, his tongue would cease moving and it would drive her need for him higher.
“Please, please, I want this. I need to come.”
“You’ll come when I’m ready.”
James took control of her body as if it belonged to him, and she guessed with their marriage, in a way, she did belong to him.
He used his thumbs to hold the lips of her pussy open, and she couldn’t look away.
