Power Play: The Nashville Assassins: Next Generation Page 33

by Aleo, Toni

I grin, and her face breaks into the widest smile I’ve ever seen. “Posey Rose Adler, will you change our plans and marry me way earlier than we agreed?”

Her tears fall as she nods. “Yes, because I don’t want to change or make plans with anyone but you.”

She falls into my arms, and our lips crash together. I know people are cheering for us, clapping, but I don’t hear any of it. All I feel is Posey’s lips, and all I hear is her heart beating with mine. When she pulls back, dropping to her knees, I slide the emerald-cut diamond down her finger and look at her. “You love it?”

She nods. “I do, but I love you more.”

“I love you too,” I say as she comes to me for a kiss—or so I think.

She stops so close to my lips, her eyes searching mine, and she says, “The plans were about to be changed anyway.”

I bring in my brows. “You knew I was going to propose?”

She shakes her head. “No, Boon.” Her tears fall, and a sweet smile moves across her red-smeared lips. “I’m pregnant.”

Everything stops—the world around us, my heart, everything—as I gaze into this beautiful woman’s eyes.

  “It’s yours.”

My face breaks into a huge smile. “Thanks for confirming it.”

She grins as she wraps her arms around my neck. “Is that okay?”

“Oh, lovely, it’s more than okay,” I say against her lips.

“My dad might punch you again.”

I laugh against her lips as I gaze into her sweet blue eyes. “You’re totally worth it.”

  And she is.

How do I know? I just scored the game-winning goal to advance my team to the finals, but all I care about is the baby in her belly and the ring on her finger. It’s insane how quickly my priorities and my life have changed since she came into it. As our lips move together and our tongues dance, all I can think about is what Shea said to me when I asked to marry Posey.

Sometimes two people fall in love after having their hearts broken, but together, as a team, they can build a foundation of love that will be indestructible.

That’s what Posey and I have done.

And I’m all for playing on our team.

  Acknowledgments

I am so blessed to be writing the acknowledgments in my 40th novel.

To be honest, I really didn’t think I would come back after 2018. I fully thought my career was over, and that I would ultimately end my life. That’s how poorly off I was. Thankfully, I fought for myself and my family. 2019 was my year. This year was a whole lot of growth for me. I found myself again and cut out a lot of toxic people. Never in my life did I think I would cut out family, but I have. I had to. I started two new series, and I LOVE THEM. I love these books. Power Play will probably always be my favorite story, while the cover of Dump and Chase will always be my favorite cover. I absolutely ADORED Boon and Posey. They were so much fun to write! Chapter Nineteen and the marshmallow scene will always be my favorites. I loved it. I love this book, and I hope you did too.

I have been blessed with one hell of a Toni Aleo crew. I have my amazing husband, who loves me even when I don’t love myself. My kids, who think I am the bee’s knees. I have a best friend who is more my sister than just a best friend. Our families are more family than our biological families, and I am good with that. I love it, actually.

I am always thankful for my team. Lisa continues to rock this shit. Heather, Jessica, Laurie, Susie, Franci, Althea, and Nikki all support me and make my writing better. I have an awesome cover designer in Lori, and she kills it like no other. Then I have you. You are the reason I do this, and the reason I enjoy it so much. I love reading your reviews, and I love the excitement when I meet you.

  Thank you.

And here is to an AWESOME 2020!

  Love,

  Toni

  About Toni Aleo

My name is Toni Aleo, and I’m a #PredHead, #sherrio, #potterhead, and part of the #familybusiness!

I am also a wife to my amazing husband, mother of a gamer and a gymnast, and also a fur momma to Gaston el Papillion & Winnie Pooh.

While my beautiful and amazing Shea Weber has been traded from my Predators, I’m still a huge fan. But when I’m not cheering for him, I’m hollering for the whole Nashville Predators since I’ll never give my heart to one player again.

When I’m not in the gym getting swole, I’m usually writing, trying to make my dreams a reality, or being a taxi for my kids.

I’m obsessed with Harry Potter, Supernatural, Disney, and anything that sparkles! I’m pretty sure I was Belle in a past life, and if I could be on any show, it would be Supernatural so I could hunt with Sam and Dean.

Also, I did mention I love hockey, right?
