[9] For there is a cup in the hand of the Lord, full of unmingled wine; and he has turned it from side to side, but its dregs have not been wholly poured out; all the sinners of the earth shall drink them.

[10] But I will exult for ever: I will sing praises to the God of Jacob. And I will break all the horns of sinners; but the horns of the righteous one shall be exalted.

  Psalm 75

For the end, among the Hymns, a Psalm for Asaph; a Song for the Assyrian.

[2] God is known in Judea: his name is great in Israel.

[3] And his place has been in peace, and his dwelling-place in Sion.

[4] There he broke the power of the bows, the shield, and the sword, and the battle. (Pause).

[5] Thou dost wonderfully shine forth from the everlasting mountains.

[6] All the simple ones in heart were troubled; all the men of wealth have slept their sleep, and have found nothing in their hands.

[7] At thy rebuke, O God of Jacob, the riders on horses slumbered.

[8] Thou art terrible; and who shall withstand thee, because of thine anger?

[9] Thou didst cause judgment to be heard from heaven; the earth feared, and was still,

[10] when God arose to judgment, to save all the meek in heart. (Pause).

[11] For the inward thought of man shall give thanks to thee: and the memorial of his inward thought shall keep a feast to thee.

[12] Vow, and pay your vows to the Lord our God; all that are round about him shall bring gifts,

[13] even to him that is terrible, and that takes away the spirits of princes; to him that is terrible among the kings of the earth.

  Psalm 76

For the end, for Idithun, a Psalm of Asaph.

[2] I cried to the Lord with my voice, yea, my voice was addressed to God; and he gave heed to me.

[3] In the day of mine affliction I earnestly sought the Lord; even with my hands by night before him, and I was not deceived; my soul refused to be comforted.

[4] I remembered God, and rejoiced; I poured out my complaint, and my soul fainted. (Pause).

[5] All mine enemies set a watch against me: I was troubled, and spoke not.

  [6] I considered the days of old, and remembered ancient years and I meditated;

[7] I communed with my heart by night, and diligently searched my spirit, saying,

  [8] μὴ εἰς τοὺς αἰῶνας ἀπώσεται Κύριος καὶ οὐ προσθήσει τοῦ εὐδοκῆσαι ἔτι;

[8] Will the Lord cast off for ever? and will he be well pleased no more?

  [9] ἢ εἰς τέλος τὸ ἔλεος αὐτοῦ ἀποκόψει; συνετέλεσε ῥῆμα ἀπὸ γενεᾶς εἰς γενεάν;

[9] Will he cut off his mercy for ever, even for ever and ever?

[10] Will God forget to pity? or will he shut up his compassions in his wrath? (Pause).

[11] And I said, Now I have begun; this is the change of the right hand of the Most High.

[12] I remembered the works of the Lord; for I will remember thy wonders from the beginning.

[13] And I will meditate on all thy works, and will consider thy doings.

  [14] ὁ Θεός, ἐν τῷ ἁγίῳ ἡ ὁδός σου· τίς Θεὸς μέγας ὡς ὁ Θεὸς ἡμῶν;

[14] O God, thy way is in the sanctuary; who is a great God as our God?

[15] Thou art the God that doest wonders; thou hast made known thy power among the nations.

[16] Thou hast with thine arm redeemed thy people, the sons of Jacob and Joseph. (Pause).

&nb

[17] The waters saw thee, O God, the waters saw thee, and feared; and the depths were troubled.

[18] There was an abundant sound of waters: the clouds uttered a voice; for thine arrows went abroad.

[19] The voice of thy thunder was abroad, and around thy lightnings appeared to the world; the earth trembled a quaked.

[20] Thy way is in the sea, and thy paths in many waters, and thy footsteps cannot be known.

[21] Thou didst guide thy people as sheep by the hand of Moses and Aaron.

  Psalm 77

A Psalm of instruction for Asaph.

Give heed, O my people, to my law: incline your ear to the words of my mouth.

[2] I will open my mouth in parables: I will utter dark sayings which have been from the beginning.

[3] All which we have heard and known, and our fathers have declared to us.

[4] They were not hid from their children to a second generations; the fathers declaring the praises of the Lord, and his mighty acts, and his wonders which he wrought.

[5] And he raised up a testimony in Jacob, and appointed a law in Israel, which he commanded our fathers, to make it known to their children:

[6] that another generation might know, even the sons which should be born; and they should arise and declare them to their children.

[7] That they might set their hope on God, and not forget the works of God, but diligently seek his commandments.

[8] That they should not be as their fathers, a perverse and provoking generation; a generation which set not its heart aright, and its spirit was not steadfast with God.

[9] The children of Ephraim, bending and shooting with the bow, turned back in the day of battle.

[10] They kept not the covenant of God, and would not walk in his law.

  [11] And they forgot his benefits, and his miracles which he had shewed them;

[12] the miracles which he wrought before their fathers, in the land of Egypt, in the plain of Tanes.

[13] He clave the sea, and led them through: he made the waters to stand as in a bottle.

[14] And he guided them with a cloud by day, and all the night with a light of fire.

[15] he clave a rock in the wilderness, and made them drink as in a great deep.

[16] And he brought water out of the rock, and caused waters to flow down as rivers.

[17] And they sinned yet more against him; they provoked the Most High in the wilderness.

[18] And they tempted God in their hearts, in asking meat for the desire of their souls.

  [19] καὶ κατελάλησαν τοῦ Θεοῦ καὶ εἶπαν· μὴ δυνήσεται ὁ Θεὸς ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν ἐν ἐρήμῳ;

[19] They spoke also against God, and said, Will God be able to prepare a table in the wilderness?

  [20] ἐπεὶ ἐπάταξε πέτραν καὶ ἐῤῥύησαν ὕδατα καὶ χείμαῤῥοι κατεκλύσθησαν, μὴ καὶ ἄρτον δύναται δοῦναι ἢ ἑτοιμάσαι τράπεζαν τῷ λαῷ αὐτοῦ;

[20] Forasmuch as he smote the rock, and the waters flowed, and the torrents ran abundantly; will he be able also to give bread, or prepare a table for his people?

[21] Therefore the Lord heard, and was provoked: and fire was kindled in Jacob, and wrath went up against Israel.

[22] Because they believed not in God, and trusted not in his salvation.
<

[23] Yet he commanded the clouds from above, and opened the doors of heaven,

[24] and rained upon them manna to eat, and gave them the bread of heaven.

[25] Man ate angels’ bread; he sent them provision to the full.

[26] He removed the south wind from heaven; and by his might he brought in the south-west wind.

[27] And he rained upon them flesh like dust, and feathered birds like the sand of the seas.

[28] And they fell into the midst of their camp, round about their tents.

[29] So they ate, and were completely filled; and he gave them their desire.

[30] They were not disappointed of their desire: but when their food was yet in their mouth,
