They were going quite the opposite way.

A wave of confusion swept through her, but she stayed silent, feeling confident Cole knew where he was going.

  “Recognize this building?”

Maddie’s mind whirled. He was pulling into the parking lot at Hampshire Flowers.

  Now nothing was making sense.

“So, you’re bringing me to work?” she asked.

He put the car in park and left it running so they could stay warm.

“Yes. I’m bringing you here because this is where we first met.”

She gazed up at the sign longingly. “You’re right. It is.”

“Maddie, can I ask you something?”

  “Yes. Of course.”

“I haven’t been able to think of much else other than you since I met you, and you’ve shown me what it means to love again. And I can’t imagine a life without you. So, I’m asking you now, Maddie.” He pulled the ring box from his pocket, and tears began to fill Maddie’s eyes. “Will you marry me?”

And resoundingly and whole-heartedly, she said yes.
