The Sea Monster's Mate Page 12

Michael covered himself with a hand that didn’t quite hide everything. “Actually, I think there’s a couple towels in—”

“Hey, no, don’t worry about it,” Jonah said and dropped his shorts. “It’s why we’re here, isn’t it?” He smiled at all the Cecaelia gazing up at him from the water. “Hi, I’m Jonah!”

“I’m Primus!” And damn if the impulsive little shit didn’t shoot out both long tentacles to grab Jonah’s hips and hustle him into the water. At least Jonah was laughing all the way into Primus’s arms.

“That must be your grandkid,” Carter said suddenly.

Lyohasius chuckled unrepentantly and their tentacles coiled around Carter where he sat in the water. “I assume you are remembering when we met?”

“Oh,” Eric said with glee, “did you snatch him into the water like a sea monster, too?”

Ty smacked his thigh. “We are not sea monsters.”

“Yes, dear.” Since he laughed, Ty just rolled their eyes.

But as Lyohasius told the story of meeting Carter, it was pretty clear that there was definitely some hauling of the human into the water with wicked intentions. Eric poked Ty’s side, making them twitch, and laughed as they blushed because they, too, had a tendency toward dragging Eric into the water sometimes.

By that evening, Primus still hadn’t let go of Jonah, but also Kevin was definitely flirting with a terribly shy Quatrus. Steve, Holly’s brother, had been caught making out with Cinqus. Holly herself was currently sitting with Mokuali’i, Michael and Serion’s eldest, who was clearly trying not to stare at her breasts while she talked.

“What is it,” Eric whispered in Ty’s ear, “about you Cecaelia that has us humans immediately infatuated?”

Ty giggled and leaned back against him, snuggling in. “I’m not sure, but I hope it’s contagious. I want all of our children to be so happy.”

Eric pressed his lips to their cheek, and then rested there with his eyes closed, breathing in the sweet and salty scent of their skin. “Thank you for not letting me drown.”

Ty turned and kissed him, hands and tentacles holding him close, saying without words how much they loved him.
