Her words vibrate throughout my body as they leave her mouth against my neck. “I saw a lot of the world outside of our small town. Exposed to different languages and cultures. I tried different foods. Eating anything that looked appealing…” She grips my shoulders with her slender fingers. Places a kiss to my pec. A bite to my nipple. “Tasting new things. Putting them in my mouth before I swallowed.”
We’re no longer talking about her traveling.
Seeing her this way—confident and loose—my hard dick can’t take it.
This is the wild side of her I knew existed, but it’s so much better than I imagined.
“Fuck, Em.”
She rocks her hips, taking over, diving her tongue in my mouth as I push back, lifting my head off the pillow to meet her in a kiss that’s worthy of an erotic novel.
I move my hands to the backs of her legs, my thumbs toying with her ass cheeks hanging out of her tiny shorts.
When she moans into my mouth, I squeeze tighter and kiss her harder.
I could fall asleep and wake up to her moan. Listen to it in the shower. Play it on repeat throughout the day.
Her moaning from my touch is more than just music to my ears.
It’s coming home.
I could blow a load on the spot. Even though she sometimes hides from it—from me—I love the confidence of this girl. She nips at my lips with tenacity, running her hands over my body like they’re happy to be there after months of fighting this attraction.
I move my hips upward, pressing against her heat. She doesn’t move away from me. Instead, she slides her hand down my side, into the waistband of my boxers, then tugs them down.
Humming, she kisses me again, her tongue exploring mine like she’s memorizing me. Like she’s realizing what it’s like to act on her needs, and I’m the lucky one to bring her out of abstinence.
She pulls back, her thumbs hooked on her shorts before pulling them down. When she’s back to straddling me, my mouth hangs open, speechless.
The first thing I see is pussy.
Sweet, smooth pussy.
Then a sliver of taut abs as she slowly discards her tank.
And lastly, nipples.
Two hard nipples pointing in my direction like her body is zeroed in on me. She licks her lips slowly, her eyes on mine, and my body trembles with the need to own her. To roll on top of her and claim her as my own.
But I don’t. Instead, I wait for her like we’re playing chess—her move.
The room is silent, except for our rapid breaths and unspoken needs.
From where she straddles my lap, she reaches over me to grab a condom from the nightstand.
I close my eyes when her nipples graze my chest. She’s killing me.
Without words or sounds, she grips my length, moving her hips in line with my tip, slowly sinking down. I hiss as I fit snugly inside her, her core clenching around me like a fucking wet suit.
My vision blurs.
Her forehead rests on mine, eyes fluttering closed as she takes me inside her, controlling the rhythm and pace. I’m powerless against her as she holds onto my shoulders, pulling me to her like I’m not close enough.
Our chests heaving, meeting in the middle, she starts rocking, excruciatingly slowly like she’s finding her groove. It takes everything I have not to grip her hips and thrust upward, fucking her like I’m punishing her for being so sexy.
I kiss her swollen lips, cupping her breasts, and she picks up her pace.
I pinch her nipples, which makes her jump and gasp as she rocks even faster.
“Ride me, Em. Ride me fast and hard. Let loose,” I breathe against her chest before I take her nipple in my mouth.
She gasps again, and I bite down the urge to come. I need her to release first. To watch her pouty lips thin as she opens her mouth to scream.
To hear that smart mouth call my name.
“Yes, that’s it,” I murmur, switching to the other nipple, tugging it between my teeth, pulling harder as she bounces on top of me.
She moans, her ass slapping my thighs as she comes down on me hard, staying there while she rubs her mound on my lower stomach, back and forth.
Her body trembles as she finds her release, her pleasure, her moment. I push a stray hair out of her face to see all of her.
Her flushed cheeks and parted lips.
Her hair loose over one rounded shoulder.
She’s breathtaking.
And I love the way she responds to me and my dirty words, especially since she previously giggled at the word penis.
I can’t stand the tension any longer, desperately needing my release before I combust.
“Hold tight, Em,” I grunt, wrapping my arm around her waist while my other hand grips her ass, pulling her deeper onto me.
She gulps, her eyes widening.
I smile at her devilishly.
Pulling her up and down at a punishing pace, I take over her entire body. I drive into her, holding her close, whispering in her ear about how sexy she is.
As soon as her body goes limp in my arms, my name on her lips like a coveted sin, I finally release the tension.
I come hard.
“Jesus,” I say, resting my head on her chest, basking in her warm skin and coconut smell.
“That was…”
I wait to hear a positive answer, something to reassure me this isn’t in my head. That this really is the best fuck of her life.
Because it is of mine.
Every time with her is the best.
I’ve never come so fucking hard that even my balls are already sore.
“Amazing,” I finish for her, then nibble on her bottom lip.
Her hands grip my face, and she kisses me fiercely.
It does weird things to my heart, things I’ve never felt before, and I’m not sure how to deal with it. I rub my chest when she climbs off me and walks into the bathroom, her ass swaying the whole way.
“Fuck,” I mutter, rubbing my hands down my face, my heart beating quickly and loudly as I wonder what it would be like to have her like this every night.
Even though I know I can’t.
“I can’t believe I fucking forgot!” Emma races through the kitchen to the door, grabbing an orange and her purse along the way. When she pulls the door open, she whirls around to me. “You make me crazy, you know that? I forget everything when you’re involved.”
I grin as I finish zipping my pants, my shirt slung over my shoulder. “I’ll take it as a win, then.”
“Don’t smirk, you ass.”
“Why not? My sex skills are the best thing about me. I’d be insulted if you didn’t forget a thing or two because of them.” I step closer to her in the open doorway, sling my shirt around her neck, and pull her to me. After I kiss her hard, I whisper, “And I look forward to many more days in bed with you.”
She holds her finger up like she’s about to protest, but I silence her with another kiss, pulling her flush against me. Melting into me, she wraps her arms around my bare mid-section, forgetting about her rush to get out of here.
After spending most of the morning in bed, she remembered she had volunteer hours today. She jumped out of bed without warning and almost broke my nose in the process. She got dressed faster than I’ve ever seen anyone throw on a pair of leggings. I didn’t even have enough time to admire the way the material slid over her smooth, toned legs.
Then, her hair was thrown up into a ponytail faster than I could blink, albeit a little messier than usual.
I like it.
I like that she’s flustered and wild because of me and how I made her feel.
A loud gasp behind Emma has me pulling back. Across the hall, an Asian woman covers a little girl’s eyes and rushes her inside.
“Mrs. Lang!” Emma calls, walking toward her, but before she gets there, the woman has already shut the door in Emma’s face. “Well, at least we cleared up where I stand on my sexuality, not that it matters what she thinks.”
“What?” I can’t
contain my laughter, but I try to at least cover it up with my hand.
“You think that’s funny? That’s my neighbor! With her seven-year-old daughter. And you’re shirtless with sinful abs… and your jeans are… so low.” Her voice trails off as her gaze slowly falls.
Her perusal of my body makes my dick twitch. Like she’s hungry, even though I spent the last four hours licking my way up and down her entire body.
I even helped her shower.
The word helped being used loosely here.
I mainly rubbed her down with soap as an excuse to touch every part of her, then pushed her up against the wall before thrusting inside of her.
I helped her rinse off, though, like a gentleman.
“See something you like?” I ask coyly, crossing my arms over my chest. “We can go back inside if you want.” I wink, and she bites her lip, seemingly contemplating my offer.
Shaking her head, she squeezes her eyes shut, her cheeks red. It makes me want to beat my chest in victory that I’m making her lose her mind like this.
“No!” she hisses. “I have to go to the shelter. The dogs need to be walked. Then I need to go by the studio.” She takes off to her left but spins back around and plants a wet kiss on my lips. Stepping back, she runs her hand down my abs before smacking me there. “Put a shirt on and come on.”
Dazed by her kiss—by her—I don’t immediately comprehend what she says. “Hmm?”
“Come on.” She grabs my hand and drags me out. “You’re coming with me.”
“To the shelter?”
“Yes.” She rolls her eyes, my confused expression obvious. “You don’t care to climb in the car with me to go to the doctor, but this you can’t wrap your mind around?”
I shrug, playing down how affected I am by her bringing up the day at the doctor. How she scared me. How helpless I felt, which made my nightmares even stronger.
I nod, inwardly acknowledging that the nightmares have decreased since meeting her. With the exception of Naomi resurfacing before her usual time of year, everything seems to be looking up.
For now.
I admire Emma’s ass as she walks in front of me. Her hips sway in both directions, her spandex leggings leaving nothing to my imagination.
Or it could be that I don’t have to use my imagination anymore.
I know what’s underneath.
I have touched what’s underneath.
And even the thought of it, after many hours of gripping what’s underneath, I want more.
Need more of her.
I never thought she’d let loose for me, and now that she has, I don’t know how I’ll be able to stay away.
CHAPTER 36
Emma
“Hey Bailey,” I greet her and point to Ty. “You remember Ty, right?” I wave in his direction before walking toward the kennels, hoping she doesn’t comment on my loose ponytail hanging over one shoulder, or my tardiness.
An hour.
I’m an hour late, and I’m never late.
I constantly get on to Kendall for her poor time management, and now I’m late. All because of Ty and his stupid abs. His stupid tattoos on his chest and arms. His smooth mocha skin.
The feel of his sweaty body against mine.
His tongue.
His smart, arrogant mouth, even.
It all drives me insane to the point where I’m losing myself.
I’m late! I’m never late. I inwardly scold myself, before remembering it’s temporary and rare. He’s leaving for Salt Lake City tomorrow. He has a show there before he’ll go back to Vegas, then Portland, then Vegas for a few more shows. I won’t see him for weeks.
There. It’s okay.
I won’t see him for a little while, and I can get back to my normal routine. I can focus on the studio. On the shelter. On catching up on Outlander.
Ty will probably forget all about me by that point, and I can really get back to normal, no problem.
Except my heart hurts at the thought.
My body physically aches, thinking I’ll never be touched by him again. That he’ll never make me feel sexy and cherished again.
I say I can get back to normal without him, but it’s a lie.
He’s made me feel more like myself the last couple of days than I have since I moved out to LA. Brant changed me in a way I don’t care to admit. Before him, I let myself have fun. I let loose and went out without people dragging me to have fun.
I was fun.
And no matter how temporary this is with Ty, he’s given me part of myself back. No matter what happens next, I’m thankful for that.
I inhale, focusing on the whining puppy in its kennel. A warm body approaches behind me. His intense gaze burns into my back. Pulling the gold puppy out, I turn to Ty to introduce them. “This little guy is Randy. He’s been here for a couple of days.” I hold the puppy’s paw up to wave, then use a high-pitched voice when I say, “Hey Ty. It’s nice to meet you, but I’m shy and scared of everything, even bacon treats.”
My God, that was embarrassing. What voice was that? It couldn’t be mine.
Ty watches me, his eyes dancing in amusement, and my face heats. I continue down the row of kennels, shaking my head. I’m only flustered because I’m late, I keep telling myself. It’s not because of Ty. Not because he’s here, in my life, on my turf.
It’s not because he’s watching my every move like he can’t help it. Like he’s amazed by me.
I stop with the small puppy still trembling in my arms and point to a white pug, who barks once at Randy, then settles down when I unlock his kennel. “This here is Ace. He’s old and grumpy.”
I give Ty a leash, and he hooks it to Ace’s collar. Leading the way, I set Randy down with his small leash in hand, his tiny nails ticking across the concrete ground. He runs circles around me, tangling me, so I have to stop and pet him to reassure him he’s in good hands.
My heart breaks as his tongue hangs out, and his body continues trembling with anxiety.
As we walk, I study Randy and Ace walking next to each other, Ace a little ahead of Randy who seems like he’s attaining his sea legs. “Bailey found Randy on the beach, trapped in a lifeguard stand. We asked around to figure out whom he belonged to. I mean, there are only so many people with access to the stands, you know?” My head hangs low, remembering when Bailey brought him in two days ago. His fur was caked in sand and small debris from the beach. “But no one claimed him.”
“What’ll happen to him now?”
“Now, we wait.” I give him a sad smile. “We wait for someone to adopt him and show him the love he deserves.”
He gulps, seemingly uncomfortable, and I regret saying that.
I regret the double meaning my words might have, so I change the subject. “Did you have any dogs growing up? Or now?”
“Growing up, we had a German Shepherd named Lola.”
“Lola?”
He nods and cracks a smile, nostalgia visibly taking over. “My sister named her. Something about wanting her to be a classy dog, so she needed a classy name.” He rolls his eyes before looking in the distance. “She smelled like rotten eggs, no matter how often we brushed her teeth and bathed her. Lola hated when my sister put beaded collars on her, like she knew she looked ready to be put in a circus.” He laughs, shaking his head at the memories.
He seems younger, innocent even, as he talks about his dog, and my chest warms. My cold chest thaws the more I’m with him.
The more I know about him.
“What’s your sister’s name?”
His steps slow, and his body stiffens. Clearing his throat, he scratches the back of his head and says, “Charlie, short for Charlotte. She hated her full name. Thought it was so unreflective of her fun personality.” He uses air quotes around the last part. “She was okay with Lola being fancy and classy, but didn’t want the same for herself, for reasons I’ll never know.”
I stop in my tracks, mulling over his words, wondering why he’s using past tense and why
his voice faded there at the end of his sentence. Why he won’t meet my gaze as we talk. Dread pools in my stomach, afraid of what he’s not saying.
But when he doesn’t turn around or stop, I continue, hoping I misread things. He’s talking about their childhood after all. Of course, he’d use past tense.
“What about you? Any siblings?”
“Yeah. Two sisters.” I sigh. Randy stops to sniff the patch of grass next to the sidewalk, then gets into position to take care of business. “I’m just not close with them. My dad left us when I turned thirteen, got remarried, and has a new family now.” I bend down to scoop up Randy’s deposit into a doggie bag, and I can feel Ty’s eyes on me. Focusing on the sound of crinkling plastic, I hold my breath as I tie the bag up before tossing it into a nearby trash bin. “I’m trying to be closer with them. They’re only eight and six, and none of this is their fault, after all. But it’s complicated.” I shrug, leaving it at that as the memories of my mother stumbling into the house late at night consume me.
Her yelling about my no-good dad and his perfect new family even years after they divorced. I was young and easily manipulated into thinking they were the bad guys.
But when my dad never came around and hardly called, what else was I supposed to think?
Ty nudges my shoulder with his as we continue circling the park. “I like when you talk to me. When you’re not threatening to shave my eyebrows and push me down a flight of stairs.”
I smile when I meet his gaze. “You should know by now that I don’t mean those things.”
“There you go again with your sexy honesty.”
“Don’t push your luck. Just feeling uncharacteristically vulnerable at the moment.”
“I like when you’re vulnerable with me. Means you like me.”
“As though the four orgasms you gave me in the last twenty-four hours didn’t tell you as much?” I blush, suddenly shy and embarrassed that I said that out loud. Embarrassed that I’d counted at all, but when that’s the most bliss you’ve ever felt, it’s natural to count, after the fact.
I expect him to burst out laughing, point at me, anything to make me feel like the dork I am. But he doesn’t.
Instead, he stops, with Ace still pulling on his leash. “Oh, it told me plenty.” He leans in, his voice low and hot on my skin. “How starved you are for an expert touch like mine. Someone who knows your needs and is more than willing to oblige, like me.”
